GameStop: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I ended up liking my trade in and it's customer service was genuine and nice.
Fantastic experience: Daughter traded a game and is excited.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff, store looks better than my previous visit as well as some other locations! Grant took the time to explain the differences in consoles and accessories to help guide my purchase and helped get me a free pro membership!! 10/10 would recommend this location to my friends and family! Thank you!
Negative experience: The guy working the counter was obnoxious, woefully lacking in functional knowledge of his products, and terribly condescending for someone so inept.
Fantastic experience: I do love coming to this GameStop. But sometimes their employees are super rude And I do come here pretty often, and the manager always is kind. It's the random new employees that can be rude and don't know what they are doing
Negative experience: Came to the store looking for a game, they didn’t have it so they sent me to another store but made a mistake when checking if the other store had the game (they asked for the wrong one) the other store also didn’t have it, when I came back and explained what happened they didn’t even apologize
Fantastic experience: Grant was great. Only GameStop to answer the phone out of the four I called. Answered every question I had and help me make the most of my trade in. Sets the standard of customer service!
Negative experience: i was intimidated and harassed while in line waiting for pokemon cards. my party and i had barely walked up when we were told by someone waiting outside we would not be able to get any product, that he is there every weekend and we should try our luck elsewhere. gamestop didn’t pick up our calls. they like scalpers here!
Negative experience: The way anything dealt with for pre release or distrobution events is trash, and none of the employees really care.
Fantastic experience: Awesome store!
Negative experience: Came in to ask about Pokémon see if they had anything left from the drop. The guy was very rude. Telling me to read the sign causeit dropped the next day. Like buying from game stop but between price going up and rude employees
Negative experience: traded in my playstation still haven’t received my money a month later.
Negative experience: Bad customer service. Just easier buying stuff elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and helpful staff standing buy to help.
Fantastic experience: Got the new Game consoles for my nephew, hope him like it.
Fantastic experience: They're always very friendly in this GameStop and frankly handled the Switch 2 pre order and launch with flying colors. I'm glad they're my neighborhood GameStop!
Negative experience: Went to make a trade and was told by the store manager Elizabeth that my controller was off brand and they didn’t take them, I traded that exact same type of controller two days prior at the Peoria location. Elizabeth barely made any eye contact with me, dismissed me and told me to go to the location I traded my other controller at which was 30 minutes away from the location I was at.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful GameStop to go to and staff is always welcoming and wanting to help. Definitely recommend this location.
Negative experience: This place displays sales that are out of date. Also the employee was totally clueless about current sales. Total waste of time.
Negative experience: Every single time I've stopped by at this location it's closed for one reason or another....out to dinner, be back in 20 minutes, had to step out for a minute etc. This location obviously doesn't want business
Negative experience: Staff is extremely rude with an empty store and I'm fully disabled. Been buying here since they opened won't come back.
Fantastic experience: Only game store in aurora that had an Xbox one series x on hand. I called so many places and they had it. Also biggest random collection of game related stuff I've ever seen be it hello kitty to mario it's a wonderful location that captures the wonder and amazement we all seek from our childhood still playing games. Thank you all for the trip down memory lane, what a fantastic location.
Positive experience: Staff are nice and provide good customer service, not enough Pokémon cards.
Negative experience: Nobody talked to me at all while I was browsing, and the only conversation made was to ask me if I would like a protection plan for my item. The shelves were maybe 60% full, visually and it quite frankly looked like I walked in to the end-push of a going out of business sale. The employees were jovial with eachother but clearly were unenthusiastic to have more than themselves in the store with them. The displays were ragged, unorganized, and visually depressing. I remember shopping at Gamestop as a kid, and this place seems to have lost all of its luster with no hope of return. Very dissapointing, as well as the online store having wrong information regarding the product actually available at the location I drove to.
Negative experience: No one talked or acknowledge me when I came in or during the duration of my visit. All women working, to busy chatting it up to take care of customers. I even had to go to the side of the counter to check out the item that I was interested in, mind you right next to an employee. This isn't even the first time that this has happened at this location. Don't waste your time just go somewhere else.
Negative experience: So today I went into GameStop and this has been the first time that they have been unprepared and have 0 knowledge of any promotions. Which also is not a smart to have an engine take full of plushies & it just states Black Friday Deals $9.99 it does not say excludes certain plushies. After asking certain question about product promotions they were once again unaware. I don’t get why there are so many promotions yet the employees are unaware of what’s going on and setting up other promotions falsely. I suggest to go to another GameStop where they have knowledge of their products/promotions and not as if they just picked up random people outside the store walking around.
Negative experience: I been here before and had amazing service. i don't know what happened if they had new management because I was asking questions, and the employees didn't even know what I'm talking about they were so unorganized. Hopefully, they can fix their problems.
Negative experience: I have ordered from this store several times for in store pick up and every single time they cancel my order and refund it the same day. They are either really bad at keeping track of inventory, lazy, or both. I ordered 4 of an item today and it would be one thing if they canceled one or two of the items, but to cancel all 4 items shows there is something else going on here. I’d recommend going anywhere else.
Negative experience: Bought a ps5 slim for $700 less than a year ago. They wanted me to trade my ps5 in for a ps5 pro and offered me UP TO $300. The whole company is a den of thieves and will NEVER buy from these crooks every again
Negative experience: They open when they feel like it.
Fantastic experience: They had exactly what I was looking for, and the associate welcomed me in.
Fantastic experience: Joseph and everyone at this store has been super helpful. I appreciate your help today as well. Thanks
Fantastic experience: Thanks Joseph. I appreciate the help to today. this location is awesome.
Negative experience: These people (blonde lady that claimed to be the mgr), along with their cc company, are completely incompetent!!!! I canceled an order in the store, they still charged my GS CC it took almost 3 months and several calls and emails to get it fixed and credit applied. Now that they credited it, they canceled my account?? What is going on over there? Wow, it's not worth the headache.
Fantastic experience: The employees are so kind and helpful and it is always clean.
Fantastic experience: I love buying stuff from here it's the best for gamers
Negative experience: So disappointing we go in for a game and to look around and the store was busier then expected. There were 2 workers and the man was busting his butt helping customers answering questions and doing a very good job. Issue was his coworker playing mobile games on her online pretty much ignoring everyone. Ypur being paid to help guests not play on ypur phone!! I will not be back to this game stop!
Fantastic experience: Everyone is very nice and full of information I would recommend this one over other locations
Negative experience: I went in today and saw there was a sign for buy 1, get the other at 50% off on Funko Pops. I grabbed 4. Left them in the counter and told the manager I'd be right back, to use the restroom across the store. When I came back and went to pay, there was no discount. The manager, with her back to me said she'd taken the sign down because they got an email that the date of the offer was wrong. Instead of honoring the advertised price (less than 5 minutes that took me to return), she turned around and left her employee deal with it. Is that customer service? Do you really feel that pissing off a customer for your mistake and less than $10.00 is worth it? I think not. That blond girl should be fired outright!
Fantastic experience: So my husband and I started our night with a simple goal to exchange a headset that was under warranty. Little did we know this would become more of an adventure that we did not care for. While having a less then satisfactory experience at another game stop near by. We made our way over to this location. Ariel, and Kevin were absolutely top notch. We could not have asked for more knowledgeable, and polite customer service representatives. Thank you thank you thank you for giving me a little hope in humanity. These two should get a raise for sure, because whatever they get paid does not cover the amazing service we received.
Negative experience: Rude Staff Uraih I believe his name is rude and unprofessional. I have had nothing but pleasant exchanges with staff in the last few months however today the way I was treated over the phone find your games elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: The staff here was really knowledgeable and funny. Friendly people who make you want to shop there more often. They have the place set up nicely and clean. This is a great GameStop!
Negative experience: Went in there to update my PlayStation the white girl with glasses leaning against the counter on her phone who clearly has no knowledge about the products she sales refused to help when I asked for help update my PlayStation. Saying "I'm just a cashier" I think she would be better off working at a gas station because she clearly has no knowledge of the gaming systems and doesn't care about her job. Which updating my PlayStation is something I have had done from GameStop before. Same with her coworker I didn't get there names but I was in there not even ten minutes ago. But I called a different GameStop and they are going to help me.
Negative experience: I went to the Havana St store and the girl that works there with glasses and kind of red hair is really rude, never coming back to that store.
Fantastic experience: I was looking for a super obscure game for my dad and Shanon helped me find it. Ariel was at the register and was super helpful!
Negative experience: Too slow to process online transactions. They have to do a better job of adjusting to the modern day.
Fantastic experience: I just got the New call of duty Modern warfare 3
Fantastic experience: Yooo man shout out to mike, my step kids broke my 60 dollar controller and I needed an affordable option he hooked me up with a 30 dollar controller and did it with great service while doing so
Negative experience: I was just racially profiled!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read the reviews corporate!! I’m not the first! I was shopping for my 7 year old son who wants nothing more in the world to have a PlayStation. After this incident I’m so sad he probably won’t get his present he wanted. All because being racially profiled. I entered the store as respectfully as I can be. Next thing I know I’m mentioned about robbery and theft from that store. And told that nothing in the store I’m allowed to look at. I can purchase anything but I’m not allowed to look at anything up close! I called corporate to get an understanding of procedures because I was treated with the worst respect a salesperson can have towards not just a customer but a good human being. Corporate was going to explain to the employee Ariel at the time about standard procedures and she refused to speak with corporate. She then left the floor unattended while there were a few other customers including myself which I assumed I was. She came back out still refusing to speak with corporate. Then I was asked to leave the store and that the cops were being called! Be cautious attending this store. If you have jewelry and Jordan’s on you might be racially profiled, accused of stealing and might have the cops called on you. My 7 year old son thanks you for not allowing me to buy present.
Negative experience: Store smelled like a urinal that had been pooped in, I placed an order to pick up same day and it wasn’t even in the system?the dudes working were chill with everything but how did GameStop fumble this so bad♂️
Negative experience: I spent $540 on an Xbox series X for pick-up today(9/27) for my man. They cancelled it with no explanation now I'm gonna have to wait 1-3 days for my money. That's not even the worst part, these cowards refuse to pick up their store phone. What a joke
Positive experience: One of my go to stores for product Availability! Thanks!
Fantastic experience: Gamestop. The gamiest of stores. Guess what you buy here... that's right! Ice cream! Nothing but quality ice cream to be had all the time, whenever you have a need for a cold sugary treat!
Negative experience: Sunday just gone I witnessed a worker who I think is called Eric tell a customer to F off! Couldn't believe it.
Negative experience: I've got nothing but bad things to say about this store. I've never walked into a store before and found one member of staff just crying saying they've had enough. You hear a lot of bad things about GameStop but I didn't realize it was this bad. A guy who works there is apparently unbearable, even people from surrounding stores said 'yeah, we've hear about him, GameStop need to get better at sacking people'.
Negative experience: I preordered Tears Of The Kingdom and was suppose to receive a special plaque with it. The guy told me “sorry, we had 140 preorders but they only sent us 70 plaques”. It was the whole point of me preordering through GameStop… No compensation. Nothing. Learned my lesson to NEVER preorder a game from GameStop again
Negative experience: They are asking way too much for games that have been out for years, expecting nearly full original price even for pre-owned games
Fantastic experience: Splatoon 3. Power Morpher. Kinda.. slow but it's a nerd place. I had fun.
Negative experience: Was going to buy something but it smelled so bad my wife made me leave.
Fantastic experience: Love that I can always bet on finding merchandise that is rare here!
Negative experience: My husband stopped by to look for some Pokémon cards for our son he said upon entering the sales guy named Daniel approached him in a non-professional manner telling him if he was looking for the cheap cards, they didn't have any. How can you judge a book by its cover my husband is Mexican and maybe since he was wearing his dirty construction work clothes Daniel tough, he was looking for a bargain? my husband felt super offended and ended up still buying the TC ULTRA PREMIUM COLLECTION that was $119.99. Please train your employee to treat customers with respect you never know who will buy your stuff. Please have the owner look at the camera to hear the conversation I'm talking about this happened 1/25/23 at 2:12. Will no buy anything from your store again. Tell Daniel that thanks to us customers he has a job.
Fantastic experience: Shannon/Jorge were some of the best employees iv ever got to experience at a GameStop PERIOD. I thought my switch was permanently broken, they took the time to see what was really the problem and assisted me with a bunch of other concerns I had. So thankful
Positive experience: Good customer service. Very helpful and knowledgeable on the products offered here.
Fantastic experience: Grateful this store is near by. Daniel, shop lead, was super helpful with questions I had during a busy time in store. He was training new personnel and keeping his cool! Great job guys
Fantastic experience: I Purchased, a PS5 about a month or two ago had a few issues with getting my points on my account but the amazing staff made me a priority and wouldn’t rest until my issues were resolved. Shout out to Daniel for getting customer service on the line and getting my points! Thank you guys !
Negative experience: My first impression of this Gamestop was nauseating. When I walked in there was this strong waft of weed that was unbecoming for a store of this demeanor. I gave it a second chance and the manager was affable. I was starting to like this store more than my regular one. But when I pre-ordered the pokemon violet Justin assured me I'm still eligible for the pin set bonus. On launch Hayden said I can come another day to get it and now he said I dont qualify. Theres always that one employee that ruins a store's reputation. Overall the employees are lackluster esp. their approach towards deceiving customers.
Positive experience: I went in to return a console I bought two weeks ago. GameStop's return policy is a full refund before seven days, and a trade in value exchange before thirty days for defective tech. When I originally purchased the pre-owned console, the X button on the controller was slightly sticky, but the button still functioned decently, and I figured I'd go back in a few weeks to get new controllers and put that one in my apartment lobby for free for anyone who wants it. So I didn't bother with taking the controller back to see if they'd swap it out. But a recent system upgrade made my recent GameStop purchase obsolete. So I figured I'd take the console back, accept the trade in value, and take the L. But the person behind the counter made it sound as though GameStop wouldn't be able to take the console at all because of the "defect" on the controller rendering the entire console "defective". So now I'm told they can't even take it unless I bring my own controller I've already owned, and trade that away for the trade in value, not even a full refund. So I go home, grab one of my controllers, take the console back again, and ask to super double check if there isn't any way I can't get a partial or full refund for the defective tech I was sold in a defective state. The person at the counter calls the assistant manager, and the assistant manager just hears that I want to know what the store's return policy is, again. Again I'm told about the seven day and thirty day limit, but they clearly specify that it can be returned for an exchange rate for defective tech within thirty days. I say I'll accept that just to try to progress and resolve the situation, the person at the counter hangs up the phone and tells me again what the rate is if I trade my own controller with the defective one back in with the console. So I ask to clarify for myself, again, if I can return it without my own controller then, and ask what the rate for that would be. If I return it with MY controller, then I get the standard trade in rate totalling to $120 cash. With the defective controller it's an even further reduced rate of only $80. This was tech that was sold to me in a defective state, that I had originally made plans to spend more money to disregard. Upon it's attempted returnal the controller's defect first forbid me from returning the console, then deducted from the standard trade in rate value for a twice reduced refund. The people working the store when I went in again for more clarification were very nice and understanding, but couldn't do anything as the return had already gone through as a defective return. If you buy a pre-owned console from GameStop that is defective in any way, even as little as a button on a controller, exchange the defective tech immediately. If you wait more than a week you'll get the standard trade in rate with an extra deduction for some of the tech being defective.
Negative experience: I just showed up before close and they already shut the store down. And the dude was rude about it as if this was a high traffic location. I will not be supporting this location again. Ridiculous to be treated ad for wanting to buy a game.
Fantastic experience: Gave me a reason to keep living. Also very nice people.
Fantastic experience: The service here was pretty good, has some good options on funko pops and other merch alike. I'd recommend this store.
Negative experience: They tried to sell me opened up pokeon product, that's right. "DON" at the counter had the nerve to tell me it was still factory sealed when it had obviously been opened. "Don" constantly had problems with this dude, even though gamestop has lifted buying restrictions for pokemon cards he still decided to single me out and not let me buy more then five packs a day for the last year. Dudes a real peice of work and in my opinion should be fired. You got your store a 1 star for me don good job.
Fantastic experience: Seam like you can always find a game to play. Fair price and wide selection.
Fantastic experience: Love the staff here! Especially the crew on Saturday afternoons! Above and beyond service, really friendly and well educated when it comes to their products. Didn’t find what I was looking for but they were able to provide me with locations that had the item in stock which saved me time and gas money. They even hooked my son up with some Pokémon cards! Thank you guys very much!!
Negative experience: Very rude customer service. Would not hold product for me for a short amount of time while I was communiting across town. Employees with attitudes and company policies like this are not gonna keep this company that's already on life support in business.
Negative experience: This is my least favorite video game store to go to the employees don't know nothing about anything or usually rude I don't think there's been one time that i've been in there where they haven't given an attitude to at least one if not more patrons when I was there. If you can go to a different store I would avoid this one if at all possible.
Fantastic experience: This is my home store, and I've always had an enjoyable experience here.
Negative experience: Customer service has always been good but this is now the 2nd time I purchased a used item (only because they did not have any new ones in stock) and it did not work. This time it was a switch joy con, which cost me $34.99 (for only one since they don't sell the used ones together), and not one single button worked on one of them. Then I find out that I can get a brand new pair on Amazon for less. Gamestop is going to keep falling under at these prices and bad quality used items. They can easily test that out too btw... just plug them into the display switch that customers can play on, that will instantly pair them then press a button or 2 to see if they work. So there's no excuse to sell an entirely faulty product.
Negative experience: Do not trade-in your things here. I’m not sure if it’s shiesty management or incompetence, but they will offer you less than half what other gamestops offer you. Went to trade in an Xbox 1, got offered $45ish dollars. Got $90 from a pawn shop. Went to trade in an iPhone X: they offered $48, got $122 at the GameStop off Alameda. If anything their prices are probably higher on other stores. You are better off shopping at any other GameStop in the area. You have been warned!
Negative experience: The store smelled of body odor and I do not like how cramped it was.
Fantastic experience: Super nice and helpful staff. They had exactly what I was looking for.
Positive experience: Great staff. Store policy is what it is.
Negative experience: There is always an issue. They refuse to honor $5 GameStop membership codes despite the fact you can go to the next GameStop and use your codes. Every experience is different and it seems like they just want to actively refuse using your reward codes for being a member. If you have an issue go to another GameStop because they are lying and you can use your gamestop pro membership there
Negative experience: Terrible experience with the store manager. Refuses to take my store credit for digital item, says cash only and tries to gaslight me that it's a Gamestop wide policy as of December (it's not). The manager Dominique is a liar and I've filed a complaint with corporate, though I don't expect anything since apparently it's a franchise store. I literally went to the next store over and did my purchase. The employee who helped get the manager on the line was polite and courteous, not his fault at all. Interesting scam taking in my consoles for store credit and now saying you only take cash due to "recent thefts". I usually don't do negative reviews but it's not often I feel like I got played - goes beyond a bad experience.
Positive experience: I always love the employees! They work so hard but they have a never ending line... Hiring a couple more employees might be a good idea, since they have so many paying customers.
Negative experience: Just waited for an hour in line to secure a Series X at the Park Meadows location on Thanksgiving. Then was told this location (E Garden DR location) was the only location with a Series X. I drove up from Park Meadows, waited in line for 2 more hours. At checkout, I was told I can only purchase the console if I buy it as a bundle, the bundle included 2 games I already own and a headset I don't need since I just bought a new one at GameStop not too long ago...I shouldn't need to buy games I ALREADY own and a headset I already have just to upgrade my console. The manager I spoke to offered no other options and just wanted me out of the store. I wasted 5 hours on a holiday just to be turned away at checkout due to a terrible business model and I was never told I needed to buy an $800 bundle until checkout. Horrible experience and you lost a customer of over 10 years. Looking online, this happened to a lot of people today. What an absolute joke.
Negative experience: Bad service, scams people with warranty. The guy calls him as store manager has bad attitude, lies about warranty do not come
Fantastic experience: Very friendly, very helpful; went above and beyond and I wasn't even purchasing anything!
Negative experience: Absolutely the worst experience I have had at a game stop THREE SEPARATE TIMES. The assistant manager is the most unhelpful, and rude person I have had to come in contact with at any game stop. Today was especially bad when He harassed my friend and I about picking up an online order in store. While another employee helped us check out, he came out and told us that we couldn’t pick it up because “he could be anyone” even after showing the other employee his ID. He told us that we were not allowed to pick it up until we got a confirmation email even though they had the order ready in their system and waiting for us. This is the 3rd terrible encounter we have had with them, another one being him not buying our Xbox because he “couldn’t find the serial number” even though WE BOUGHT IT FROM GAMESTOP Then when I asked to speak to someone higher up he refused and said “there is nothing my manager can do that I can’t”… so ridiculous and I’m glad I found another better gaming store to sell my Xbox to.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff, efficient while also allowing you to take your time
Negative experience: Haha is there a lower rating button than 1? Gamestop is the worst game company out there, their most of the time non existent return policy, refusal to hold items for you even when on the way, fighting you on warranties, ect. The list goes on. Especially the Mississippi and havanna location. Worst one in Colorado, horrible service and when confronted about it they just reply like clockwork "I'm just a drone man". Pretty pathetic gamestop.. oh how far as a company you have fallen.
Fantastic experience: The cashier was really nice to me. She was helpful with everything that i purchased and my experience was great. Thank you.
Negative experience: Service is good enough, but the small store rarely has what I need.
Fantastic experience: The employees were friendly and very knowledgeable
Negative experience: Manager didn't know about a sale going on at his own store, but was real quick to kick people out over new mask orders.
Negative experience: This store has the worst service I’ve experienced in my 15 years of shopping at GameStop. The manager is a completely disrespectful and the workers are lazy.
Fantastic experience: This place has always been great. I get my kid all his Funko pops from here. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The deals are incredible too.
Fantastic experience: Went to pickup a game and was in and out very quickly, the staff were very helpful and I got my purchase and was out the door within 5 mins.
Negative experience: I am sad gsmestop is irrelevant now, they have no current gen systems, ps4 titles are the same old stuff, with new releases downloaded and no ps5 Xbox hardware for sale whats the point. Used games are getting older titles and seem more expensive than the digital options.
Negative experience: Games that have been out for years were still full price. Online inventory didn't match on site. Still overpushing the extended 'warranties'. Staff was friendly though.
Fantastic experience: I came in probably about 2 minutes to close and heavier set Hispanic dude have helped me I personally am not very nice that close to the end of my shift with that said he was absolutely fantastic and made me laugh I appreciate it my experience here
