Doc’s Video Games: Reviews
Negative experience: Oof. Don't waste your time if you want to sell old games. I understand you're running a business, but offering 50% of current value is running a business, offering 10% is greedy and insulting
Fantastic experience: Awesome place to find some old school gems! Jose is also capable of fixing old games that are not saving, and I would highly recommend having him fix your old gen 1-3 Pokemon games! He was able to fix a gold that I thought was completely dead!
Fantastic experience: Great store with a huge selection of popular new console games with an even bigger selection of classic and hard to find games. Always something to check out.
Positive experience: I love retro video games. Docs is a good place. The people are super nice and I have not found prices to be out of the realm of reasonable. Their inventory doesn't rotate much it seems but sometimes they get a few good things in. I always try to support them.
Fantastic experience: Jose was great!
Positive experience: They repros and imports which certainly makes them worth a visit, however they didn't have a whole lot of the rarer finds for US.
Fantastic experience: My life is like a video game
Fantastic experience: Dope place, small video game selection but some good titles! Staff was really nice
Fantastic experience: Gots lots of used games and a few pinball machines for sale. I found two ds games in the parking lot and traded them for Pokémon cards.
Positive experience: Decent store with a solid inventory but clearly they're matching prices with DK Oldies and price gouging their customers. Friendly enough staff, but no one really went above and beyond. Staff isn't super knowledgeable either on more of the high end stuff they're selling.
Positive experience: Great customer service
Fantastic experience: Great for retro games, recently started to rebuild my GameCube collection. Highly recommend for anyone into retro gaming or looking to rebuild their collection like myself.
Positive experience: Havent been here in a while. I was glad to see them doing figures and other collectibles instead of movies.
Positive experience: Classic games
Positive experience: They didn't have what we wanted
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Positive experience: Cool store to look around in. Prices are high and trade value is LOW. I brought in some decent games that are hot sellers and was offered a very low amount. They do have a good selection most weeks and some hard to find things but you will definitely pay over the average
Fantastic experience: Good people and a very large selection of games for all systems
Fantastic experience: Both locations have a wide selection of games and they occasionally have pokemon games which I constantly look for, for nostalgia. I highly recommend if you are looking for older games and potentially some new ones I have seen a variety of both.
Fantastic experience: Great place to pick up some classic games.
Positive experience: Awesome got a sealed copy of kingdom hearts 2
Positive experience: TLDR: Store has great prices, but some of their workers lie to get a sale. For the most I'm impressed with the store and service. The only issue I had was that I bought a controller from them(used red PS4). Before buying it asked a few questions if it worked fairly well, knowing fully it was used. I was told by the guy I bought it from that yes it was, that they even used that same controller as a remote for their tv. I get it home and it's completely dead. Won't charge, won't turn on, won't factory reset, different cords and everything. I took it back and had them demo another controller in front of me before replacing it(which yes I should have had them do that on the first one, but I trusted the workers word that it worked) So I can't fully complain besides having my time wasted. Again good prices, the people seem to like working there, just disappointed in the lie I was told.
Fantastic experience: I've been coming here for years and they haven't let me down yet.
Fantastic experience: Guy was extremely nice and the place was awesome reminded me of childhood games u use to play. They even had vintage hand held Nintendo game boys
Fantastic experience: Great shop for retro games. The environment is nice, and so are the employees. They are very willing to answer any questions you may have about anything
Fantastic experience: They're great. Knowledgeable and friendly with fair prices
Positive experience: If your a retro game nerd this place is pretty good. I went here with my cousin to show him the wonders of the old CoD games. I was happy to get the last BO2 they had in stock at the time. They also expanded their anime merchandise, now they have figures, wall scroll, and some other stuff. Upon talking to the cashier I found out they even support some of the local artists/talent and sell their works.
Fantastic experience: There was a massive collection of games and consoles, new and old, and the staff were more than willing to help us look for specific titles. Sadly, they didn't have what I was looking for, but I was still able to find a couple of games to take home for my collection.
Negative experience: Went to both stores in the same day. Their selection was pretty good, but all of their higher end stuff is extremely overpriced (avoid anything with a star on it), two of the discs were so damaged they had to be resurfaced, and the clerk at the Smoky Hill branch was on his phone with a buddy the entire time. I can't really recommend these stores, there are far better in the area.
Positive experience: Decent Selection of Retro Games.
Negative experience: Both docs in Aurora are a joke. They are good if you want to buy certain things. I would recommend no one trade in or sell. There employees are clueless. One of things I tried to trade in was a Dreamcast memory card. The guy said no they have to many. I had looked at the Dreamcast case saw no memory cards. So when he said that. I said ok I’ll buy a memory card he responded with they DONT HAVE ANY. Great service lol.
Positive experience: Had a great collection of classics, from NES to PS4. i bought a PS1 and a few games, looked online and it was a bit cheaper than stuff on eBay. It was pretty clean however the open button sticks and the start button on the controller it came with did not work. After a week I'm now having a problem where controller port 1 is sometimes losing connection, have confirmed it's the port and not the controller. I was able to fix the start button by just cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol but I feel like that should've been caught when they QC'd it before putting it on the shelf. I got 4 games, all of them read and played just fine, had no issues so far. The staff was nice, gave a few helpful tips. They also gave me a punch card for $10 of in store credit which was nice. Planning on coming back.
Negative experience: Empty store w/ zero customers this afternoon. They are still enforcing expired mask protocols. I was requested to leave and this past customer won't be back again. I can't imagine they'll be in business chasing customers away as digital purchases are on the rise.
Fantastic experience: Excellent have a good deals
Positive experience: Very good place! I'm very happy with their selection and variety of new and classic games. I wanted to get a fight stick here, but the one I wanted was a bit too high for me. Still a great store, great staff, definitely worth going in.
Positive experience: First time there and it was good. Much better than other places with used games. Person very helpful with a Grammy that doesn't understand
Positive experience: Good selection
Fantastic experience: Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, nice selection!
Positive experience: I thought it was a really cool place to find some good deals on certain consoles and systems. It's like going backwards in time 30 years and feels like an actual old school independent game shop. It's awesome in that regard. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that some games are just weirdly and depressingly over priced. I really wish they could do a better job of pricing because although I'm prepared to pay a premium, it's really hard to justify paying double what you can get online. Either way, it's worth checking out for anyone and everyone.
Fantastic experience: 100% recommend, very knowledgeable and friendly staff!
Fantastic experience: "Doc's" is a very appropriate name for this retro game store. I take my old scratched PS1 games there to get them buffed for a low fee of 3 dollars. That's a great service for a collector or anyone that likes retro gaming.
Negative experience: Told me a fake controller was genuine. Couldn't get a refund. 49$ for 360 controller that turned out to be a fake. No thanks.. Prices are expensive. Find a better place to get your retro games. I recommend GAME FORCE. The controller on the blue bag was purchased there and for 20 dollars cheaper and is legit.
Fantastic experience: This place is great for any collectors!
Negative experience: I tried to sell my 2ft adult toy and they only gave me $15
Fantastic experience: Awesome vintage gaming shop. Best prices around and have a good sized library.
Fantastic experience: Good selection of retro games and consoles.
Fantastic experience: I found Doc’s by accident and can’t believe I didn’t know this store was within my 30-minute driving radius. Looking for a Gameboy SP online, this store showed up in my search results along with a couple of other classic video game stores. Calling the store, they did have a few SP systems so I had to pick one up!! The store is actually pretty large and they have a huge selection of games, including a few reproduction and rare games - prices are reasonable for average games for all the classic systems; averaging at under $20 for most NES, SNES, GBA, DS and other such games. Rare games will vary, some hard to find GBA games could be $70+. Anyways, I think prices were super reasonable and on top of that they do a punch stamp thing that can save one an extra 10%. Happy to have found this store, excited to have found a SP locally, and definitely plan to visit again!! The team’s also knowledgeable and helpful. Also got to visit their other store on E Iliff; which was also awesome.
Negative experience: Ps3 controls that are refurbished are not worth it. And y'all are way over priced for 10 year old consols.
Fantastic experience: Had a good experience here! They had a pretty large collection of classic video games basically any console you can imagine in the last 40 years plus dvds and anime
Fantastic experience: Easily among my favorite video game stores in the Denver area
Negative experience: I've been visiting this location for several years, but am going to have to stop for a while. The COVID protocols have crossed the line from cautionary to anti-consumer. 10 minutes to browse? Face covering no matter what? I will be perusing Ebay and other online outlets until the atmosphere is less unwelcoming. I didn't take two shots to be made to feel like a walking contagion.
Negative experience: Posted hours have them open at 10am. We arrived at 10:20. No one showed up until 10:40. Once inside, my gf and I were the only customers in the store. Immediately we were told to limit our visit to 10-15 minutes. We want to look around and take our time, not be rushed. I could understand if they were very busy and had a line, but that was clearly not the case. I'm glad I was only visiting the area for a few days, because I would not come back here.
Fantastic experience: The store had a lot of cool finds and they have a friendly staff. The store was clean and masks were required during covid.
Thanks Ethan for the kind words. We'll continue to do our best for everyone.
Fantastic experience: Great game store. Ive been coming here for decades
Negative experience: Trust me guys, just stick to GameStop. #moon
Fantastic experience: Clean, great selection of older and new games. Friendly staff. would totally recommend for casual players, or collectors.
Thanks Courtney for the kind words. Please come visit us again anytime :)
Fantastic experience: Huge selection of games for every system. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful.
Positive experience: Decent selection of retro games. Noticed some titles were a little steep. Found some of the same titles cheaper at 2nd and Charles
Fantastic experience: More than what you need. Helpful and knowledgeable staff selling reasonably priced entertainment.
Negative experience: I was very politely advised of Covid-19 rule in effect, "please limit your browsing to 10 to 15 minutes", as in that is the time you're allowed to be in the store. If you must shop there call first to see if they have what you want because you wasted your time driving over there if you thought you were going to be browsing.
Fantastic experience: Great service Great selection just a little pricey
Fantastic experience: Love love love, they are amazing
Negative experience: I used to love this store now i no longer feel welcomed the people are rude and not helpful at all. I was told that i was looking too long after only being in there for 15 minutes and not helped with my game return for my first 10 minutes of being in the store !! Games are overpriced and sold at a unreasonable amount for no apparent reason. just go online and buy old games do not waste your time unless you enjoy being mistreated with every visit.
Negative experience: The most inconsiderate customer service the way they treat there returning customers is a absolute atrocity every time I've been in there they have made it seem more of a burden to them then actually being treated like a customer they hike up prices on broken consoles then treat it as your fault I honestly wanted to give them a chance but since I've been in there 8 times and every encounter has been the same with different people I have shown the most upright respect and get the most disrespectful attitude back they are more concerned with what they have on there tv at the time then what the customer is wanting and if you have the slightest video game knowledge they belittle you and make you feel like you know nothing even though there information on knowledge is unfounded and often wrong my honest review of this docs is to find another place who will value you giving them business unlike them who feel like they are doing you a service considering that you can find there entire selection and more online with better prices in my opinion if you want to stay in business start with how you treat the people who keep you in business
Fantastic experience: Best gaming store will go above and beyond for you
Fantastic experience: Very large selection, got a ton of PS2 games I was looking for. Super happy.
Negative experience: I wouldn’t come here again. The shop keep said that I only had 10 minutes to look in the store even though he was the only other person in the store. That was strange and rude. The vast majority of good inventory is just not there. No good selection of quality games but hey, they have dozens of copies of old FIFA games. The real doozy is that the clerk told me I needed an ID to purchase Donkey Kong... lame store and lame clerk.
Positive experience: Pretty cool store inventory has diminished over the years but overall nice people except for that Armando guy for whatever he feels like he has to be right next to you when you shop
Positive experience: there is a big selection of games and game consoles to choose from, the only bad thing is that the guy there told us that we only have 10min. max to browse and get out of there, sometimes you need a little more than that to properly browse and decide what to get, other that it was a fun visit!
Fantastic experience: The employee was very helpful and helped us with all our questions.
Fantastic experience: Great selection of games and consoles. Better prices than the big box stores and the employees are very helpful. Great place to find rare and unusual games/systems.
Fantastic experience: They had everything that i want and they are very nice
Positive experience: Awkward cx experience because of covid. Shop online. Ten minute limit immediately disclosed as a "store rule", even when there are no other customers makes introverted people uncomfortable and feeling rushed when they've came in to spend a moderate chunk of change. Seems like a guaranteed way to throttle money coming in. Didn't have what I wanted anyway.
Fantastic experience: Lots of different games from all sorts of eras, and friendly staff as well.
Fantastic experience: Chill
Fantastic experience: Love this place! Good prices, great service.
Fantastic experience: A must for classic and newer systems and games. Thanks guys!
Fantastic experience: Been getting my games and game equipment here for 5-6 years now and it's never disappointed as far as stock goes. Customer service is decent too
Negative experience: Never really cared for this place. Mainly because they never really cared for me. The workers here almost always seem to hit you with an eyeroll as soon as you enter. The games are fine but at least give the people who support you some decency.
Fantastic experience: Very knowledgable staff and a wide selection of retro games/consoles. I bought my N64 along with SM64 and Ocarina of Time from this shop around 2 years ago. Never once have I had a problem with the system or games. They are a bit picky with which systems they purchase, but this ensures you are getting a quality product. Definitely stop by here if you are a retro gaming fan.
Fantastic experience: Stopped in today and found everything I was looking for. The associate was very friendly and helpful
Negative experience: Sold me an Xbox one controller used for more than they are in store in box do not shop here unless you want to be ripped off
I want to make sure what it is you bought. Did you buy a controller for Xbox One or the original Xbox and how much did we charge you for it. We want to make sure there was no mistake.
Update 5-15-2020
We looked over all the transactions of the day. We sold you a used oem Xbox one wireless controller for $44.00 + tax. That is the going rate for manufacturer used Xbox one controller a new ones go between for between $59 -$79 . So we did not rip you off.
Fantastic experience: Great service, bought an N64 and a few accessories
Fantastic experience: Helpful folks and a great selection. We found Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation and more. Full size arcade consoles, games for every handheld and console you could think of. Prices are reasonable to great. All in all a great place that I will come back to when I am in Denver!
Fantastic experience: Very welcoming and easy to find what you want, and a super big collection of games!
Fantastic experience: Doc's is great. The atmosphere welcomes gamers and non games. The staff is friendly and willing to help everyone. They even have some great events. They come highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Very good fair prices also great games
Fantastic experience: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great selection
Fantastic experience: Great place to find old retro games and newer system games as well!
Positive experience: This place is great they never fail to have games I'm looking for that I can't find anywhere else. My one complaint is I wish they didn't stop carrying PC games but hey what can you do
Fantastic experience: I'm not that into old games myself. But my friend who went there with me is, and he said he found a lot of rare games
Fantastic experience: Both times I’ve been in the store they have been very helpful. They have a great selection of games and the prices are good.
Fantastic experience: I don't know ask Doc lol
Fantastic experience: This is the best Doc's. It's substantially bigger than the Iliff location, better stocked than similar stores in Aurora, with great prices on some pretty rare stock.
Fantastic experience: was such an incredible experience. My husband and I will be repeat customers. They are such a great little gem of a game store! We bought a playstation 2 and they had such a variety of games that we could choose from and they were fairly cheap. The over all atmosphere was like walking into nostalgia city.
Positive experience: Very organized and clean inside with helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Best place for games
Positive experience: No complaints! Well run and fair prices from what I've seen so far!
Fantastic experience: Great staff. Great prices. Great selection. If you’re looking for used and retro video games there’s no place better
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing! I would rather get my games here than at game stop. They have great prices, great games, and amazing options! I bought a game that should have cost me 59.99 elsewhere, but I got it for 24.00! I chose the more expensive one that is.
