Fantastic experience: I recently purchased Chronotrigger from them. They had a very reasonable price for it, and they were very transparent with me authenticating the cartridge. I checked all the obvious spots I knew for authenticity. They opened the cartridge and showed me the board, and they replaced the battery even though they had it replaced initially when they took deliver of it, for my own peace of mind. They demoed the game and played through it a little bit to show the game. They are gamers themselves and understand how important it is to get the process right especially when your spending $200+ for a game. Great store, great staff, and it will it now be solidified as one of my regular stores.

Fantastic experience: These people are super knowledgeable, kind, and give great customer service. They are also supportive of their community. I am not only a customer (I love Gameboys) but also an employment specialist. They gave my participant a wonderful and thorough job shadow and tour experience that was highly valuable in exploring careers. Also, their trade rates are better than in some places.

Fantastic experience: I remember when this location was a CD/Game Exchange and you could find plenty of good music and games at a great price. I'm happy to say that remains true, even if 90% of the games are now stored behind glass displays. This doesn't have the same level of games as most other Portland retro gaming stores, but it makes up for that with a really cool music selection and a cozy vibe that makes it fun to just walk around the store and browse. The staff are very nice and the playable NES kiosk is a really cool touch. I hope this store continues to grow into the future and hopefully match the size of the old CD/Game exchange someday.

Fantastic experience: I went to get some old PS3 games for my wife, who is couchbound after oral surgery - the dude was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. I got like 5 games and a third party controller for $55. Exactly the experience I was hoping for.

Fantastic experience: This local retro game and collectible buy/sell/trade shop has all generations. There are plenty of cheap or rare games to enjoy. As a collector, they're very fairly priced and have a nest color system on conditions, etc I'll be buying a ton off them

Fantastic experience: Amazing selection across all consoles with very friendly employees that are happy to help with whatever you need. I was allowed to play all of my games before leaving the store to verify they worked properly and was given fresh batteries for the gameboy and gameboy cartridge that I purchased at no additional cost. 10/10 store if you love retro games definitely come check this place out.

Positive experience: This place is great! Service is good, and so are the prices. Unfortunately, they often do not have what I am looking for. I would reccomend calling ahead if you are looking for something specific. They are super friendly, but the selection can be limited.

I bought a copy of Super Monkey Ball 2 that was defective and they took extra care cleaning it up and got it to work but still swapped the discs out any way just to ensure I would have a playable game. Also cleaned up a couple loose discs I brought in for free to make it right. Fantastic customer service! I will definitely be a returning customer! ❤️

The have games and accessories for basically any console you might be interested in and regularly have new stock. Always a good selection and really fair prices. Also love the artwork and stickers they have in sometimes.

Fantastic experience: Excellent store with a Very wide range of games. I like going there because I don’t really have to worry too much about the pricing. It always seems to be right in line with eBay which is awesome. They also seem to give fair trade-in credit value. This is my favorite video game store that I’ve been to in Portland.

Fantastic experience: Super easy to find they do have some parking including several spots for bikes. Theres a lot of video games here including movies! I often come in to see whats new. People will come in to trade so there’s always something new to play. Most of the games are cheap. So if you don’t have much money you could comfortably leave with 4 games. They also have retro games.

Fantastic experience: Great selection of games including some rare titles. They get a lot of trade ins so it's worth stopping by from time to time.

Negative experience: Staff was helpful. But their prices were about 30 percent higher than retro game trader. And their selection of super Nintendo games was very small.

Negative experience: They do NOT sell CDs, wasted gas and an hour plus of my time to go there and this was a month ago and it's still in the description.

I appreciated that they called out the 5 screw variants on the nes carts, I don't think I've seen that before at a store. Shows me they know a bit about what they've got. And the staff enthusiastically chatted me and my son up about the games as we checked out. Will go every time I'm in Portland

Fantastic experience: This was a quaint little game store. Their selection was smaller than others in the area, but they were good condition. The staff was friendly and helped us get down games we wanted to peruse through. They also sold lots of neat instruction manuals, no game purchase necessary.

Fantastic experience: I've only been to this place a few times but I always feel welcomed and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I know I will always find some kind of hidden gem with each visit and I usually leave spending more than I intended. Haha This isn't a problem though because everything is valued fairly and I feel like what I'm getting is worth the amount. Highly recommended if you are into retro and modern video games and consoles. They also have tons of game related memorabilia so there is something for everyone. And their merch shirts are super cute!

Fantastic experience: This place rocks. They got me set up with a GameCube and a few games for a decent price and a few extras! Unfortunately I had issues getting one of the games to work (Melee), but after determining that it was an issue with the console itself, they swapped it out with a working one the very same day and now everything is working perfectly. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye out here for games as they come in, love their customer service and don't see a reason to go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Hawthorne Game Exchange is an awesome mostly used video game store that features games from the modern area through the 1980s. They have several classic game systems, a great selection of accessories, and some vinyls and movies on VHS. I always find something neat there and the staff are helpful and really go a lot for customer service. Positive experience: We were looking for games complete in the box, specifically Zelda, but there are a variety of games for all consoles. I did pick up Silent Service for the NES and Metroid Prime Corruption for the Wii. It looked very popular the day I was there.

Fantastic experience: I bought in a disc for the Wii that wouldn't play anymore due to scratches, and their scratch-removal service cleared it right up.
