GameStop: Reviews
Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Employee's don't care about about their customers at all. Couldn't help me with my problem or exchange my disc. thanks a lot for all the help, never going back to a gamestop.
Negative experience: Tried asking for help buying headphones for a pc and the guy behind the counter told me to look on google on my phone. Thanks for the help
Negative experience: Couldnt go down there myself so when my mom came to get the disk i wanted he convinced her and made her think the protection plan nobody eants was propriatary DO NOT SHOP HERE THE ASSISTANT MANANGER SCAMMED MY FAMINLY MEMEBER
Negative experience: O/10
Fantastic experience: Nice location, good & safe parking. I didn’t get the guys name behind the counter? But he was awesome! I came in the evening towards closing. Next time I’ll get his name. That’s my new store location. We moved from Savannah, Ga. Had to find a GameStop.
Negative experience: Store/GM actively lies about current promotions to hit their Pro membership numbers. GameStop had several promotions running today, so I can forgive chaos, BUT they appear to have ran out of supply for a $15 purchase promotion and instead substituted free distribution cards for a Pokemon release. I did not want a stupid promo Yveltal card, I did not want to spend $15. I wanted the free shiny Miraidon/Koraidon code for myself and my kid brother. The GM decided to arbitrarily change the promotion and spent about 5-10 min pitching their Pro membership to each and every horrible scalper who was there with the express purpose of ruining kids and fans experience by buying every Pokemon card in a 15 mile radius. So, the service was slow and they actively lied about a promotion to hit sales goals. I've worked retail, I get the stupid upsell memberships and programs, but never once have I ever thought it permissible to change rules or lie to get it done. I hope the pokemon company punishes this kind of mistreatment of fans by distributors.
Negative experience: I've picked up free redemption codes through Gamestop before for Pokémon shiny codes (or event codes). It's never been an issue before to swing in and grab a free code (which the Pokemon Company AND Gamestop advertise it as), even a day or two after release. This time the code was for Scarlet/Violet, Shiny Miraidon/Koraidon depending on which version of the game you have. Get to this location shortly after opening (on 9/26/25) and it's ridiculously busy with people all in line trying to buy new Pokémon cards (and possibly Magic?). That's fine- however, we then learn that we are *REQUIRED* to spend $15 in order to get the *free* code. I understand one per person, that's entirely fair...but these are supposed to be free. I watched a young man get turned away because he didn't have money, he asked if he could show them his switch to prove he has played this game and loves it; he wasn't rude, he wasn't a re-seller, he was just a guy who loves his Pokemon game. He didn't have $15 to spend for his free code and they told him they couldn't help him because the District Manager told them that morning that people must spend $15 to get the code, to avoid re-sellers (5 minutes prior to this, another guy was irritated and insisted on the fact they're supposed to be free and she handed him two codes because she didn't want to "argue over a piece of paper". What?? She apologized and was mostly kind, but I can't understand the idea that this is okay. If I had chosen to be rude, would I have gotten my code for free? Neither employee was rude to us, the gentleman who rang us out for something we didn't want was quick and kind about it but this can't actually be allowed.. when we left I saw that same young man outside in absolute tears because he was turned away (and shouldn't have been). I hope he is able to somehow get his code, I gave mine to my younger brother (who is stuck at school) or I'd have given him mine. Most of the people in the store wanted to buy cards, and based on the way they were acting about it I am certain they are in fact re-sellers. So how is it a deterrent when those people are already spending enough money to get the code? Something doesn't seem right here. I went ahead and called the Clackamas store to inquire if we needed to spend money to get a code (so I could try to get one for myself since I gave mine to my brother) and they told me no, you just have to come in to the store and it's one per person. These stores should have the same District Manager..so who is lying? I won't be spending money at the Eastport location anymore because I don't think the manager there was being truthful.. I also work retail and I know that things can be cruddy sometimes, but I don't lie to people so my store gets more money and Pro Sign-Ups.
Negative experience: I took my kid in to sell his Nintendo Switch, Mario Cart game, Doc, and controllers, guy offered us $31. Lol! Like are you just trying to scam money for yourself or what?! We then went to a game shop in Milwaukee and got $125.00
Fantastic experience: Shoutout to Sam! best experience I've had at a gamestop hands down, and I've been a member ALONG time!
Fantastic experience: Amazing customer service. When the store didn’t have the product I was looking for, JJ helped me track it down at another location.
Negative experience: Sell broken equipment. Don't go here
Negative experience: Do not trust the employees to recommend good gear. I called in with questions about a headset and was guided towards a set that was a whopping $129.99. I asked very clearly and multiple times for a user friendly headset that would not have issues connecting, and even said I didn’t mind wired. They sent me out the door with the Artis Steel series, which after hours upon hours of issues I researched. To my surprise they are one of the LOWEST rated headsets because of well known connection issues!! Thanks GameStop, when I called asking if I could trade if for a new set (paying the difference out of pocket) they offered me a $20 credit. These guys do not know anything about the gear they sell, and then also rip you off. If I could give negative stars I would.
Positive experience: Honestly pretty uninformed staff when it comes to games. The people who work here clearly hate their jobs, which I get. But not knowing if certain titles, especially ones that have seen moderate success, got physical releases shows that they don't care enough to learn or retain such information. Its a shame because otherwise the customer service here isn't so bad. Just your typical gamestop where they upsell stuff you don't need and don't offer much for trade ins. 1 extra star for making getting a Switch 2 very easy for the midnight release.
Fantastic experience: Shout out to my boi Nick! He was very helpful, friendly, talkative and polite when bring a lot of consoles to trade in . Overall an awesome experience
Positive experience: Good people but high prices and they don't offer much when you want to sell games back to them. But they do have nice, knowledgeable, and willing to help employees.
Fantastic experience: I love going to this GameStop it is only 2 miles away from my house and the staff are always very nice, helpful and happy
Fantastic experience: I had a phenomenal experience with Isabella! Went in to purchase a game console for our daughter's birthday, and I had the absolute best experience, not only was she actually knowledgeable, she was also honest and kind. It's hard to find good customer service these days and she definitely delivered fantastic customer service. The store is clean and well organized I recommend this location for your gaming needs.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Fantastic experience: All stores are not equal! Staff are friendly and helpful, and as a result I keep coming back!
Fantastic experience: Awesome staff there and always a great selection at this store. The staff who work here are absolutely incredible human beings
Fantastic experience: Great Variety of Games
Fantastic experience: It’s nice to have a location that’s just a mile away from my house, Sam is great to work with, easy to talk to and is extremely tech savvy. I also appreciate that this is a safe space. It is important to acknowledge that employees are still human beings.
Fantastic experience: The best gaming store you could ask for
Negative experience: Come to this location if you have 30 minutes to spare on a simple return that should’ve taken 5 minutes!
Negative experience: Wish I didn’t have to leave any stars the woman at the front was horrible and they gave away my Xbox to someone else but still charged me for it nicer doing o line orders again clearly they don’t know how to check id or confirm any information and now I am SOL
Fantastic experience: Sold some games
Negative experience: Pink pony tail person is the slowest worker of the year. Purposely wasting people's time.
Positive experience: Always cool to come some of the employees are a bit strange but whatever lol
Fantastic experience: Super fun experience, the employee was engaging and fun. Handled the technical issues smoothly, was easy to talk to and communicate with. Definitely will be back.
Fantastic experience: Best selection, fair prices, excellent customer service.
Negative experience: I know places are short staffed, but I've gone to this store twice now, during their business hours, and each time the store has been closed with a hand written sign saying "Store will open at ______" It is infuriating. The second time we went, the store was closed for at least an hour. Might be a good idea to call ahead of time to make sure they are open before going out of your way to pick up a pre-ordered game.
Positive experience: It's OK still has strange hours due to staffing
Positive experience: I believe in the buddy system two or more per store .otherwise great customer service!
Negative experience: I see the employees are picky with whom they want to provide customer service to. When I walked in I wasn’t greeted back and I noticed other people walking in were treated differently, even their customer service was a lot better to the people who called. I was ready to buy gear and games but upon being cut off not even finishing my sentence I realized I wasn’t wanted there.
Negative experience: Just came in to buy couple of games . And they had a game for PS5 that I wanted. It was 29. Then at the register the lady told me that it was 49 not 29 they had the wrong label. Kinda rude. She didn't want to respect the price tag that was on it. Just take your business somewhere else.
Positive experience: Decent place, often has a broken window because of the location. Decent staff.
Fantastic experience: Customer service was fantastic. The girl was very nice, personable and great with our daughter. Had piercings, wish I could remember her name :( besides that lots of great deals and product.
Negative experience: Found out Keegan canceled my pre-orders I asked him to, and instead of using the credit towards my game ($15 worth) he used it to renew my Power Up Rewards account. He apparently finds it acceptable to use customer money to bump his numbers. (This incident happened a few months ago but it got removed for some reason)
Fantastic experience: I like this place ,it's got a lot of cool things u can buy good prices
Positive experience: Yeah... It's fine. Prices are a bit much, but hey, everyone gotta make money somehow.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff!
Negative experience: Meh.
Fantastic experience: Francis is so friendly and helpful. Good selection of games, accessories, and fair prices. One of my favorite places to go for games locally.
Negative experience: The team leader KEEGAN, is extremely rude and disrespectful. I can’t believe GameStop would hire someone like this. I refused insurance on a product and his whole demeanor changed. I hope GameStop replaces him soon.
Negative experience: My boyfriend and I usually drive out of our way to come to this GameStop because they have a good selection of McFarland DC action figures. We always found Keegan and other staff to be knowledgeable and friendly on previous visits. Today however, we stood in line to purchase the PS5 bundle. We got to the store two hours early intending to buy two bundles, one for my boyfriend and one for my 13 year old son as a birthday present. My boyfriend and I do not live in the same house. I do understand policies that limit quantities and one per house hold rules due to resellers. We have two separate pro memberships and we were willing to show IDs to provide proof of us not living in the same household. Keegan refused to sell us two consoles. I wouldn’t have had an issue with this if it wasn’t for the night before that we had gone into the same GameStop and asked them directly if we could do this. Buy two separate consoles with two different pro memberships. The associate the night before said it would not be an issue, as long as we were not “in the same household” We weren’t given the opportunity to explain ourselves about what was said to us the prior night before. It’s unfortunate because this was our favorite GameStop location. Luckily enough, we were able to get to another GameStop in time to purchase my son’s birthday gift, but we will not be returning to this location again due to this incident.
Negative experience: Just went in this afternoon to this location to return my copy of Triangle Strategy that I'd purchased online in "new" condition. I have no idea if there was anything wrong with the game or not, because there were torn stickers on the case & no plastic seal. I would not have purchased it had I known it was in that condition. When I walked into the store, there were two customers in line already being assisted by a portly fellow with dark hair, pale skin, & glasses. There were others in the store & I promptly took my place in line. When it was my turn, I explained my situation & he told me to go get out of line & grab the copy they had off the shelf. While I thought this was a little strange, since I'd done this already I typically get asked for my phone number associated with my gamestop rewards account. Curiously enough, the fellow who was behind the counter walked over to the switch wall to grab screen protectors for the customer that was in line behind me before he told me to get out of line to get something from the same wall myself. After waiting in line AGAIN, the gamestop employee suggested that if I didn't wanna have this problem again to stop buying new gamestop products from the online store. I was so baffled that an employee of gamestop would say to not buy things from gamestop that I responded with "That really isn't my problem." The employee then began getting agitated that I didn't have a receipt of some kind ready for him, & he went on to say that this isn't something gamestop typically does for people. When I clarified I never had this issue before today, as I'd made several returns in this manor before & usually just get asked what my gamestop associated phone number is. He became incredulous & short with me. He asked if I still wanted to do this return, to which I said "Of course." He then insinuated that he didn't have to do this for me & that if I didn't calm down that he wouldn't help me. I tried multiple times to look through my emails on my phone but the disgruntled employee insisted on arguing with me & provoking me. Finally, he said to leave the store, not before trying to give me an empty Triangle Strategy case instead of the one with the actual game inside that I'd paid full price for. I've never been so disrespected by any employee anywhere, especially over something so trivial. This person went out of their way to make me feel bad for something I'd done multiple times before with no issue, even at this very location. I will not be returning obviously, because I like being treated like a paying customer. Not a punching bag for an employee too lazy to do his job.
Negative experience: Staff is extremely rude and unpleasant. They love to go off on people and power-trip hard. Staff member snapped out at us in anger because we declined the warranty and signing up using our phone number. I avoid this spot like the plague and only go if it's the only option for certain games.
Fantastic experience: Tabor and Keegan were super helpful with signing me up for Pro. The store was busy and they were able to help all of us. They absolutely 100% deserve a raise.
Fantastic experience: Good selection.
Fantastic experience: Very very kind fast respectful survives recommend to shop here Walmart is the best had to grab couple of items
Fantastic experience: Been coming here 4 all my sons gaming needs for a decade. Love these guys!!
Fantastic experience: The whole team checks in on you to help your shopping needs and they are very well informed about their inventory and products that come through their store.
Fantastic experience: They knew what they were talking about
Negative experience: Muy bueno y divertido
Fantastic experience: Friendly helpful staff and a good selection of gaming bits
Fantastic experience: The guy working was so helpful. Traded in a PS4 and some games, got more store credit than I was expecting, put it towards a Nintendo Switch.
Positive experience: Cool store, good selection. Their prices on the other hand are not very friendly.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service! The staff was super cool when I brought two boys in to make thier purchases. They helped us get a price for a game in-store that we saw online, even though it was marked differently in the store. The store is clean and masks are required. There are games, shirts, toys, mugs, and a variety of game oriented products. Parking at this location can be a bit crowded. It is nestled between T-mobile and Starbucks on the corner of Holgate and 82nd ave.
Negative experience: Not a gamer, per SE, so this place is entirely academic to me. Was just along for the ride, at that point.
Negative experience: Guy tried to pressure me into buying a membership, horrible customer service.
Fantastic experience: Always friendly and helpful!
Fantastic experience:
Positive experience: Quick check out and friendly knowledgeable staff.
Fantastic experience: Good place to get games, consoles and accessories.
Positive experience: The people there are nice and helpful even when they try and get me to pre order which isn't there fault. The problem is that a large part of the store has nothing to do with games and is just junk nobody buys.
Negative experience: This gamestop doesn't call you when your pre-order comes in.
Positive experience: Meh
Fantastic experience: I got a much better trade in value than I expected. And the staff was super helpful.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly atmosphere
Positive experience: Decent selection of gaming items. Lots of merch if that's your thing, too. Knowledgeable staff that can give their direct experience & input, admits when they're unsure but will look up, ask someone else, or call another store. Always treated with respect and no judgmental attitudes (in my experience).
Fantastic experience: Dude at the counter was very helpful and professional. Definitely be back!
Fantastic experience: Easy access
Positive experience: Great place to get your video games, they have new and used games for a good price.
Positive experience: Great staff this is my favorite store
Negative experience: Always good for a ripoff
Fantastic experience: This Gamestop is literally our favorite one to go to. The staff is knowledgeable and friends and goes above and beyond to help ans answer any questions that you have. I was trying to find a new headset, and exchanged the headset no less than 4 times with no issues before I finally settled on one.
Positive experience: Was not happy with this gamestop, it smelled alot of randomness was happening , guys playing foosball in the entrance, people with a dog was blocking certain areas and they kept talking about closing.
Negative experience: They sell me games which should be good but don't work.
Fantastic experience: In response to another reviewer, Ben Johnson who is considered a "Local Guide"... It is important to have your facts in line. While GameStop is indeed feeling the pinch of digital downloads and game streaming... They have not declared bankruptcy.
Positive experience: The staff was excellent and helping me at their best to find a game only down there was the old Xbox 360 games are way way overpriced and not enough of a selection. Most Xbox one and PS4 games were cheaper.
Fantastic experience: I'm not quite sure how they're staying in business because I've been in there twice in a 12-month period and cotton pop figures for free because they just weren't found in the system. So I'll give him a five-star rating for that but let's remember they did file bankruptcy.
Positive experience: Always a good stop, but like the electronics store, expect to come home with loads of stuff you didn’t intend to buy.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic customer service
Positive experience: Very helpful, but needs more staff and more product to catch gamer viewers.
Positive experience: Barrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy
Fantastic experience: Smells like subway, but nice staff members
Fantastic experience: Best place to go to and buy anything you need to better you gaming over great customer service and help
Fantastic experience: It was great. Employees really helpful.
Fantastic experience: If I can find a good game I'd buy it , this is a place to go .
Fantastic experience: Cool games
Positive experience: They still dont have battle toads
Fantastic experience: Fire go here
Negative experience: Was completely empty, rip gamestop good luck fellas
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff.helped find a game and recommended some others.
Fantastic experience: I saw so many awesome video games
Fantastic experience: I had a really nice experience with the employee that assisted me. I wish I remembered his name, but he held onto a PS4 for me while I went to buy a TV for it, and even held on to my TV for me while I came back and browsed games. I generally have had less than positive experiences as a female gamer at gamestop, enough that I usually don't even bother going, but he really made me feel comfortable. So, if you were that employee, thank you!! You're literally the only reason I'll go back. We need more dudes like you in the game sales industry.
Fantastic experience: Super helpful
Positive experience: Meh
Fantastic experience: Always love Gamestop
Fantastic experience: Awesome services with awesome customer service!
