Fantastic experience: I always have such a great experience when shopping with SideQuest games. I order mainly online, but have stopped into the store a couple of times. In store shopping is amazing and there is always some cool finds waiting to be added to my collection. Their online website is equally as great as you know exactly what you're getting based on the condition descriptions and the orders are packed extremely well. I've purchased everything from Nintendo 64, Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Advance, to Xbox, Playstation and more. They have very fair prices and everything is always amazing quality and very clean. Do not hesitate to shop here for all your retro video game needs as this video game store is one of the best in the Portland metro area. If you do not live locally their online shop is the next best thing. Will be back for more very soon!

Negative experience: I really wish I didn't have a gift card for this place every time I walk in I've never gotten greeted but everyone else who walks in seems to The two gentlemen working today couldn't be bothered to break from the conversation to ask me if I needed help with anything while I'm staring at a case that I can't get into very unprofessional very disappointed with the customer service I wish I didn't have to come back but unfortunately it's a $50 gift card... Sure I could have asked for help but it seemed like it would have been an inconvenience for them.

Fantastic experience: Always friendly! Have purchased multiple games and a used switch (animal crossing style). Have had the switch about 6 years now and it still works wonderfully! It looked new even though it was used. We have purchased both new and used games there and the used have been just as good of quality as new. Prices are always reasonable. Anytime we are looking for game items this is the place we go!

Positive experience: Had to deal with a return and who I could assume was the manager was very professional about the whole situation he was also dealing with phone calls and other customers all while complaining a Return/Exchange for another console and also hooked up my friend with chords for his PS2. Fantastic experience: My experience here was perfect and extremely inviting. I will definitely be back. I’m an hour away from here, and it was worth it. I rarely review places so I hope that’s saying something. The guys there at the counter were so friendly and I could tell they were passionate collectors who love talking to other gamers. The store itself felt like a hidden gem reminiscent of a 2000s era Hollywood video and less of a museum of cool/rare games at 125-150% market. My visit - I happened to be in the area getting lunch with my big box of PS3 games that I left in my trunk. I visited their website recently and saw they had Gauntlet DL for GC that I wanted to see in person. Most, if not all, games were at market or under. After a quick conversation, we processed some games and talked numbers for trades that I was happy with. They offered 50-60% market for trade ins, with a strong preference for good condition games to avoid disc/gameplay issues which was okay with me! It was a very fair transaction, especially compared to the other ones in my area offering $1/game sometimes! Got $170 in credit and put some cash on top to get Pokémon Colosseum, Zelda Four Swords, and a couple region free N64 tray slots. If they end up getting manuals for them, PM me! :-)

Insanely reasonable prices and in excellent conditions. Recovered many of my fav childhood jrpgs without my wallet weeping. Staff was chill. Always a great selection of games from very high end to cheap options. Tons of random video game memorabilia. Prices are always at or below market prices. Staff is always super helpful and actually love video games. Highly recommend for any retro gamer.

Fantastic experience: We shop here regularly for games for our PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. The only time a game didn't work, they refunded with no issues. We went in for their black Friday sale and got a great deal! 15% off our purchase and, after I said something to my son about selling sports games because neither one of us play them, they grabbed Heavy Rain as the free game for coming in and I spun the wheel for a free $10-15 game and received a shrink wrapped copy of Infamous Second Son. Well worth our stop in!

Fantastic experience: A go-to for retro games and consoles. Fair prices, great staff, always good stuff in stock. I have snagged some TREASURES at SideQuest, both the shop and at the convention they put on. Definitely worth a stop.

Fantastic experience: I had been to their convention before in downtown, which was a wonderful experience packed with so many vendors and games I was absolutely floored! For Black Friday, they advertised an extremely generous free game for coming, and a free wheel spin for those that spent $10 or more, with gifts as high as $100 on the wheel. They had way more people than staff, and after browsing around I asked up front about the game, and was handed a free game. I ended up purchasing a couple other games and spun for a discount on my purchase. This place is too cool, very passionate about games, and even more passionate about the community. You could feel the love, and hear the employees kindly work through all the customers and questions. I hope you get the chance to stop by soon, and be sure to keep an eye out for their conventions in downtown!

Fantastic experience: We don't usually go out on black Friday but love this shop and decided to support them. They also had a gaming console we wanted. They were VERY busy. We got our free game when we checked out and spun the wheel. We got a free item between $50-100. I commented that I was hoping for 20% off so we'd get an additional discount on the console. The employee said, "we can do that" (the discount fell between the 50-100). I was very thankful. We made our purchase, for our free game and left. We love this shop and stop every time we eat in the shopping center. I highly recommend it. They are also super friendly.

Fantastic experience: The guy and team that run the shop are real darn nice. It is a newer retro/hobby game shop with video games, collector items for games, some pokemon, and consoles. It is stocked and run as a true passion project. I think you can really tell the level of care and energy being put into the place to get all of these really cool finds from our childhoods. The prices are fair and I don't think the owner is trying to gouge you at all. I very much want this place to stay open and for them to do well. If you're thinking about stopping by you should at least see what they have picked up. I have gone several times in the past month and consoles, displays, and large arcade games keep changing and swapping around. There are a lot of neat things in here.

Fantastic experience: Great store and visited after Metal Jesus did a video about this store. I am a retro game collector and typically stick to NES and SNES games. SideQuest games has a decent catalog, is pretty fairly priced, and offers standard trade in deals. The catalog appears to be online, but I am not sure how often it is updated. As I mentioned, I mostly stick to NES and SNES games. I browsed their selection and found it to be pretty standard. They have most of the games you would think of and want. As far as their prices go, they appear to be typical for a retail location. It's also important to remember that retail store have to cover rent, payroll, and taxes. Could you find a better deal online? Probably. Do you have to wait for shipping or run the risk of your item not being true to the online description? Yes. Sometimes it's worth paying an extra $5-10 to get the game right away and know the condition immediately. SideQuest games also has a clearance/discount game section in the front of the store which is pretty awesome to see. You wont find a copy of Earth Bound in the bin, but there are some pretty solid Tecmo sports games. If you are looking to trade in, SideQuest offers pretty standard trade in valuation. You likely wont find a store in Portland that will offer you more than SideQuest. I am not sure if they ever run any trade in deals or not. All in all, SideQuest is a pretty solid game store. Prices are fair for retail and cheaper than some game stores in the area. Selection is pretty solid (probably depends on when you go), and their trade in offers are pretty good too.

Negative experience: My switch had an overheating problem, the battery melted the battery connector socket, so I took my switch here (since Nintendo wouldnt do anything to help me) with a new battery connector socket and they soldered the battery connector to the wrong area (I would have soldered it myself but I didn't have the tools). Now my switch turns on to a static screen and the controllers vibrate continuously until I hard turn it off, it also makes an extremely loud long beep. When they gave it back to me, they obvioiusly didn't do a turn on test and they didn't even close the thing back up. They left it taken apart in a gallon sized bag so when I got back home I had to screw the back panel back on to it by myself.

Fantastic experience: I'm treated great by everyone at SideQuest Games! One thing that stands out to me is the Game Boxes are Clean and Label Free! What a plus, not to have to clean gum labels off your "new to you game." They give me good deals on my trades. The Xbox One X I bought works like a champ. Two Thumbs Up!

Fantastic experience: First time buyer called ahead to see if a product was in stock, told it was, drove immediately and was welcomed into their space, great selection of games and accessories and had the pleasure of dealing with friendly staff, I only bought an accessory on the day, but will return again to buy more games etc, great store and great location, not to mention A GOOD PARKING LOT really helps

When the Xbox360 I purchased had issues they were quick to make it right by replacing the defective part at no additional cost. Highly recommend this place for your retro gaming needs. Negative experience: Mediocre pricing, spotty service, successful in 1/2 repairs. Unless you’d prefer a long wait and no updates on your requested service I’d go somewhere else. A sob story about how busy you are does relatively little for either of us when I come in a month later after 1-2 week eta and the store is dead and the repair unfinished. Despite 3 calls and one message about status on my end communication is the problem even though i initiated 100% of it.

Fantastic experience: I love this store. They always have a great selection at fair prices. If you are gaming on a budget, they do have a clearance section too. Whether you are a casual gamer or a hardcore collector, this store has something for everyone. They also sell new titles for Xbox, PS and Switch too. They have excellent staff too. Really great people. Can't recommend this store enough.

Negative experience: I was in a few days to return a N64 3 days after I bought it, because it didn’t work on my TV. The person that helped me wasn’t that friendly. I wanted my hard earned money back, but instead gave me store credit that I’m never going to use. I will never ever go back. don’t waste your hard earned money here.

Negative experience: The store used to be great when it first opened things for the most part things were priced reasonably and the selection was nice. But after a few years things nosedived to the point where it just isn't worth it beyond being a place to window shop and it only seems to be getting worse. There are worse stores for sure but to say SideQuest games is good in its current state would be a complete lie. People should shop around more whether they go to other stores websites etc. An important note for people reading this the owner may reply to this review justifying his pricing know that for the most part his current prices fly way outside the current ranges on sold prices. I highly suggest people do research into anything they consider buying as this store capitalizes on those who don't.

Fantastic experience: As parents of teenagers, we often find it difficult to get quality family time. At Sidequest we find all the latest games as well as the nostalgic games we remember playing as kids. The store is very well organized and stocked with something for everyone. We’re trying to make it a regular family outing to get ice cream and a new game. We have had some great family fun playing together!

Fantastic experience: I've been a recurring customer since they opened and service from the staff is always excellent. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. Large store with large selection plus they can do console cleanings and repairs. I've gotten some of my best stuff from them over the years. Fantastic experience: I love this place! Brought in a stack of old optical media to be resurfaced and spent 45 minutes just looking around at the HUGE selection and enjoying some free-play arcade Ms. Pac-Man and Double Dragon with my kid. A treasure on McGloughlin!

Fantastic experience: Great place, friendly/knowledgable people. Tons of selection - from the newest to some of the oldest. One of the only places that I've seen that actually have a selection of Philips CD-i VideoCD movies (left with one :D). Had "big box PC games" too. We aren't local, but if we were - we would go back again.

Negative experience: We visited this place for disk buffing with high hopes but left with mixed feelings. They initially quoted a 1-hour for 26 disks, both on the phone and in-store when we dropped off the disks. However, our actual wait turned into a lengthy 2.5-hour experience. After 1.5 hours, we decided to give them a call because we hadn't heard from them, as promised. They informed us that it would be another hour, citing unexpected delays. They explained later that it was taking longer than expected, assuring us that they hadn't forgotten about our disks when we asked for the reason for the delay. But, I must admit, we had our doubts. The extended wait and the uncertainty left us feeling less than satisfied with the service, especially since we had to significantly change our plans, and we had traveled quite a distance to get there for their specialized disk buffing equipment.

Fantastic experience: Great place! They have all kinds of games, consoles, and accessories. They have a lot of old games but also sell new games for new consoles. Even have a fair return or exchange policy. Had to return a cracked game and they were able to exchange it within a few minutes

Fantastic experience: I love this place! Great variety of older games and some newer, what they have in older makes up for what they don’t have in newer games. Overall though great shop! Can’t wait to take my lil bro here, he’s going to lose his mind! Lol

Fantastic experience: I took my two sons ages 8 and 10. They loved the store and settled on Pokemon cards. The staff was helpful. As an older person I got a kick out of seeing systems I haven't seen since I was a kid.

Fantastic experience: While visiting Portland I hit up all the retro game stores in the area, and this was by far my favorite one. Things were reasonably priced, they had so many cool things to look at, and they were very helpful. I left with some really cool treasures!

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and lots of high quality inventory. We watched the staff help out a couple recoup a purchase and work with some kids who wanted to trade in their old consoles. Genuinely nice people! And their game selection was great. Rare titles for all the consoles. Especially Game Boy! Saw a few titles you never see in big city shops. They also had Pokemon cards and other collectibles but the focus was definitely on the games. The prices are slightly above market price, but that's pennies for the service they provide!

Fantastic experience: This is my go to shop, for all my retro games. Everything I’ve received from them is always in amazing condition, never had any issues. And personally I think the prices are great compared to other places.

Fantastic experience: Awesome staff and great selection of retro games! Went to another retro store in the area to get a GBA cartridge fixed and they told me it was not fixable. Came to SideQuest and they had it up and running for me. Highly recommend!

I thought that was excessive. These guys quoted were $125.00 cheaper. I’ll go to them for everything from now on & tell all of the other gamer moms too! Positive experience: It’a a great place for people to check out. Tons of nice games and selection too but the selling can be upsold. Usually you have to ask to be sold here and wanted games are super pricey for a discount store. I’d rather go platinum to be honest but the struggle is real!

Fantastic experience: Always been amazing, I found this place in 2021, and was shocked I had not heard/seen of it before. Since then I have become a somewhat regular, and have been amazed at their stock, friendliness, and fair prices. SideQuest has had everything I have wanted/needed for my retro and modern consoles along with hard to find and fairly priced easier to find video games/merchandise. Highly recommend this place, they also have a fairly priced repair service that has come in handy when I needed a 2DSXL part soldered. The consoles they sell are always clean (inside and out) and have been fairly priced and functioning, these are covered with a 7day warranty and gave me peace of mind and excitement to start them up immediately in case I needed a return/exchange.

Positive experience: This place is amazing. I didn't feel hounded or encrouched upon or like I was a bad person for browsing, unlike some other businesses. The person at the counter was very friendly, they had repeat customers who seemed happy and at ease it seemed. Clearence section and games/consoles that range from decades old to this year. Good stuff on the tvs. They also had a Shinsou sticker and that made my day. It's hard to find side character merch! Id love more side character merch and like, a lounge (I know I know) but this place is amazing.

Kristen, who helped me primarily while I was in today, was attentive, friendly, and professional. The gentleman who was working with her also seemed like a knowledgeable and friendly person and was very quick to help and greet other customers while we were being helped by Kristen with our trade in and purchasing a Turbo Graphix mini I absolutely suggest going in to see the store, they have more than just games as well if someone needs a plushie, sticker, or decorative pin as a quick gift.

Negative experience: Came for a PAL game and never said in return I would ONLY be getting store credit then claimed she said only store credit. I assumed I was getting my cash back if the game did not work on my system. The girl with the short colored hair just blank stared at me while I was asking her a question. I will not recommend this place to anyone nor will I return here. Then offerd 10$ for 2 games they sell for $35 each, what a JOKE.
