Fantastic experience: Huge selection of games, gaming hardware, and collectibles. A 35 year NYC institution!

Fantastic experience: I went to this video game store and honestly had such a great vibe there They’ve got sooo many games, from new releases to really rare finds, it’s like a little treasure spot. I also loved that they carry Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Magic cards — I could’ve stayed there way longer just looking through everything ✨. The staff were super cool and chill, really helpful but not pushy at all, which I appreciated. The whole store is clean, bright, and really easy to browse around. Overall just a really fun place — definitely coming back again

The staff were super friendly and actually seemed to know what they were talking about, which made it easy to ask questions without feeling pressured to buy anything. The store itself is clean and easy to look around, and I liked that everything was organized well. Prices felt fair, and the trade-in option is a nice plus. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.

Negative experience: Terrible service. The owner is rude & unwelcoming, he is on his phone doesn’t acknowledge I’m looking for a game then I asked him & he put his hand out pointing his finger like “1 minute”. Then he says he has the game I’m looking for but wouldn’t let me see the physical game to see if he really had it in stock. Also he’s price gouging ridiculously asking for much more money then a reseller does on products like tcg. If you live in this area save your money & don’t support a business who’s being rubbed by a guy who acts as if he doesn’t care about his community.

Negative experience: Pre-owned PS4 console $245 and up!? More expensive than GameStop and BestBuy.

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible experience at Astro Game. The owner was extremely rude, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in doing his job. I asked about a game that was literally sitting right there in plain view, and instead of helping, he flat-out said he didn’t have it. It was obvious he just didn’t want to be bothered. The entire time, he was glued to his phone, talking and completely ignoring customers in the store. No acknowledgment, no effort, nothing. It felt like customers were an inconvenience. If you’re expecting even basic customer service, don’t waste your time here. There are plenty of other shops nearby that actually value their customers and act like they want your business. This place isn’t one of them.

I highly recommend going here because just from what you can see entering the store, there's something for everyone

Negative experience: The young Latino guy at the front, needs to relax his attitude. Like bro I understand working retail, it gets tough especially with some people , I worked at fast food and a construction supply place, but that doesn’t mean you have to assume everyone is stupid or naive. Todays economy is tough and most places aren’t paying well but we all going through the same thing not just you. The lady working there is friendly. I stopped going here , stop the micro and passive aggression tones.

Negative experience: Getting Pokémon at retail quantities and then selling them for double MSRP is diabolical. Was willing to pay over MSRP but double is just greedy

Negative experience: Resealed pokemon cards I spent 100$ worth expecting to get something decent but got nothing exept 1 full art out of 20 packs and even other times i went there i got nothing DONT GO HERE AND WASTE MONEY

Fantastic experience: Great service and stock, I've been going for 10 years since their old location, I even bought old Pokémon games before they were officially released from here so lots of fond memories. The prices are sporadic but if you're looking for a vintage game this is one of the better options in the city

Fantastic experience: Amazing service, Super nice people and I recently just bought a 360 from them. Works perfectly fine. Great prices and picked up some games from my childhood as well. They have both retro and new gen games and consoles and have a great selection as well. Making this my go to place for games now.

Positive experience: Really awesome store with a lot of varieties! But some stuff are a little over priced sadly. An example, most TCG are over priced a bit, compare to other stores where they have it for a few dollars less BUT it is a convenient game store so it kinda balances it. Just wish the TCG were priced less is my only complaint.

Negative experience: Went to purchase used genuine GameCube and Wii controllers. The staff first told me they only have new generics for $20. I then found GameCube controllers behind him. He then said those aren’t for sale they’re broken. I mentioned I’d still be willing to purchase. At first he said no then asked $50. I’d recommend supporting friendly neighborhood shops like Mobile Game Store

Fantastic experience: A cute Videogame shop in Washington Heights. Staff is super friendly. Prices seemed reasonable on retro games, but I didn't dive too far into what they had. They had a little bit of everything so I didn't get a chance to look at it all, but definitely a place I will visit again, even if a bit far uptown.

The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and they always go out of their way to make sure I find what I’m looking for. The store itself is clean and well-organized, and they have a fantastic selection of games for all platforms. I’ve never had a bad experience at Astro Games.

Negative experience: I was a loyal customer for a good 13 years ever since I was in middle school never had a problem ever since I knew  Mr.Kim, his wife, and his son but somehow I struck a nerve on Mr.Kim when I confronted him when he sold me two brand new boxes of Pokemon GBA games wrapped up in plastic for me it was too good to believe ended up buying them came back multiple times to the store to get a replacement for those games since the save files were deleting itself and he did trade-in for just other counterfeit games ended just bitting the bullet and giving up because I was a kid and didn't know better. Kept giving him business for a few more years until I tried to sell those copies of GBA Pokemon just found out that they were fake and indeed they were after some research. Confronted Mr.Kim and completely went berserk on me couldn't have an Ouse of skepticism since not all his games aren't counterfeits but that doesn't mean you get to go full hog on loyal customers. He either A knew about it and sold me a counterfeited game as authentic for a brand new price sticker price which in that scenario he has no honor or integrity and won't care if Nintendo tomorrow decides not to sell him peanuts with Mario face on it for his compulsive behavior. Or B he had no idea he sold me counterfeited GBA games he could talk like an adult with the respect I deserved as long loyal customer heck he could have talked his way out with an apology and I would have bitten the bullet and walked away and kept giving him business. Either one I can 100% be sure Mr.Kim did sell me counterfeited Games banking In kid's ignorance and nostalgia. In Conclusion, don't expect cheap prices for either retro games or even brand-new games they are competitive prices as in the resell online market. They don't have an inventory list so have fun scanning for what you are looking for. From what I am reading In other reviews Mr.Kim has gone full unhinged over the years again he wasn't like that with me since he has known me for many years from me giving him business I could understand if he has gone through grab and runs so he feels insecure to show off games but you would have to find out the hard way If Mr.Kim woke up on the right side of the bed that day.

Negative experience: Not a good customer service. Went to the store with my friend and he is special the owner was staying at him like he was going to steal something from his store. I asked the owner that I wanted see NES game. He said that he does not show games until you don't buy the game. I said I will buy it. Then he take it out and then I want to see it he does not want me to touch game. It was only $10 I collect NES games and want to make sure the stickers are good from the top and front of game. I and not going back to this store again. And recommend nobody to go there, because the customer service is very bad.

Fantastic experience: As a regular customer shopping at AG for 20+ years (since their old location on 181st) I highly recommend this game store. Its owner Mr. Lee and his employee Julio provide a friendly service and enjoyable shopping experience. They have a GREAT inventory of retro (GENES, GBA, PS2) as well as latest games and consoles. They often sell the hottest new games a few days (sometimes a week) in advance!!

Fantastic experience: My go to place when I need to buy a game that comes out or even a game that's already out and even better, my family loves this place. Owner + workers are incredibly helpful and friendly. If they don't have it, they will try their best to see if they can get it and update you on it, and even if they don't, they at least tried. You bet I'm gonna be here any time I get.

Fantastic experience: Even though I've been in NYC all my life, I didn't start coming to this store until earlier this year. Because I don't live in the area, I never knew about it. No one ever spoke about it to me. It was the other mom and pop places in Manhattan everyone talked about. I found their website and noticed they usually receive games even EARLIER than these others stores. That impressed me but I was also impressed with the communication on the website. The owner is always updating his customers. What time the game will arrive. What day. What week. Very transparent and I appreciate that and I'm sure all of us do. Every interaction I've had with the owner or other coworkers have been great. No complaints whatsoever. If you're someone who enjoys getting games early (possibly even a day(s) earlier than the other well known stores who get games early), give this one a try.

The owner had this business few blocks away for 25 years before opening this store. They always release new games and accessories before other stores do and prices are always reasonable. Location is great and they have array of games for different systems. We have to support small retails like this one for the community as they bring so much value to the community! Fantastic experience: This store has quite a collection of used games and some very old trading cards still sealed. It’s my local game store and I consider myself lucky.

Positive experience: Cool place but don't buy loose pokemon booster packs. They sell resealed packs, a bit disappointed honestly.

Positive experience: I was looking around to see if things were cheaper in a store than online, but men, I was wrong. The store is full of a lot of good games, but for a price. Looked for a Luigis Mansion Dark Moon for the 3DS, and it was 35 used and new it was 40(B4Tax). Wii console was a decent price, but I still didn't ask what it came with or the condition. N64 games like No Mercy were literally retail prices used and not in a good quality. Mercari has way better quality and cheaper prices. we just have to wait for the shipping. I gave it 3 stars because I did not buy a product to test it, and because they had a great amount of good retro games. Prices vs. Time is what you have to ask yourself: Do I buy it because you want it right away or save money and wait for the shipping? I recommend this place if you don't care about prices they do have a lot of good games.

Negative experience: The Customer Service, non-existent. I’ve visited the store multiple times & as a collector, we analyze games before purchase. They have this thing where they won’t show you a game nor product without you purchasing. Hello… like what if the game is all scratched up. “Sorry, it’s policy” Today, they denied me a game I desire because quote on quote “we can’t reach it!” Bro, their whole store is filled with games on the wall. What?! I’m guessing they need to hire Shaquille Oniel or an individual whose ego isn’t as high as the 7 foot walls.

Fantastic experience: I liked how big and clean the store was. The person that helped me out was knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are reasonable maybe $1 or $2 more than big corporate stores like GameStop but please support our local stores before it’s too late and they are gone.

Negative experience: Owner has a tendency to give a different price than what’s stated on the game itself, which is a bit annoying. Owners favorite response to questions “ohh just look it up on YouTube”. Consoles (new and old are over priced, even by collecting standards). When the owner isn’t in a cranky mood, the other employee usually is. Nothing says customer service like an abrasive/rude remark, to a question about a product. Also for some reason, he keeps staring at me like if I'm going to steal something. Stopped going mostly because i just felt uncomfortable with the constant staring. There are other mom and pop store with better customer engagement and a better organized store.

They charge $6 for Ultra Pro Penny Sleeves which is a price hike but other than that great place. Will be back for Pre Orders etc !!
