GameStop: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Jonathan helped me tonight and he was super kind, professional and patient. Would 10/10 recommend this GameStop — ask for Jonathan!
Fantastic experience: Carlos was super helpful and knew a lot about which console i should buy as a new gamer he also recommended me some cool games definitely coming back
Fantastic experience: Very nice people
Fantastic experience: Excellent customer service
Negative experience: They never answer the phone when you call them and have attitudes when you ask them questions in person
Negative experience: Rating then 1 star because I have personally called this location over 20 times in 3 days. Just to ask if they have a particular product game system I want to get for my son Always an answer machine This is one reason they have closed so many locations They are unprofessional to many degrees and that is due to a lack of work experience, training for the role and laziness which ive experienced before in other locations For a business slowing losing their footprint, answering those calls should be priority as with customers on site But the phones should be answered, and even put on hold at the bery least for acknowledging purposes
Fantastic experience: I LOVE IT!! Cashiers are really nice, and the priced are great, I really hope I can come back soon (^o^)
Negative experience: Got here at 11 to wait for the store to open, didn’t open until 12 , I see why GameStop is going out of business slowly , I came here for a pickup , and the store not even open at 11 house it says it’s going to be
Fantastic experience: Good People!!!!
Positive experience: Helpful staff. Cute merchandise and game themed gifts. Convenient location.
Negative experience: I went for a store pick up today and they were closed 3-5pm never in my life have I seen a store close down for that long
Negative experience: Non existent customer service or interactions
Fantastic experience: Long-time Pro Rewards member here & this was my first time making a purchase at this location. I had a difficult ask today, Namely, to trade in my Switch OLED (along with other games and accessories) and also transfer the years worth of data to the new Switch 2. The manager, Jonathan, blew me away with his knowledge, speediness, service , and demeanor. Even though a different sales associate told me that the process would take a long time, Jonathan made this multi step process look easy and in record time. He also had no trouble factoring in my trade-ins/discounts and also presenting me all of the options. On top of that, he engaged in conversation and treated me like a human. When I got home with my new Switch 2, all I had to do was connect to my Wi-Fi and plug it into power and everything was all set. He absolutely set me up for success. I’m confident that this will become my main store here in NYC; based on this incredible experience, I hope that I can interact with Jonathan more often than not when I do so.
Positive experience: I like this game stop because is near my home but they annoy me most of the time because they never have the games I want and they do they can never find it.
Negative experience: The code cards for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet shiny legendary giveaway were set to be released today, (I tried calling to see if they were sent any but no one answered) so I arrived about thirty minutes after opening to get one. I was stuck waiting on line for about fifteen minutes while the sole employee there was busy talking to someone about a game they didn't play and wasn't going to buy. When they finally asked what all of us were waiting in line for, a few of us said we were there for the code cards. He told us that they had already handed them all out earlier in the week.
Negative experience: Never pick up the phone horrible
Fantastic experience: Both employees were warm and helpful. I will definitely return.
Negative experience: The phone ring and ring nobody pick up I've been trying for 3 days
Negative experience: They never pick up the phone! EVER. And they sell you consoles as is without making sure you have the correct equipment.
Positive experience: Inconsistent pricing, but nice to have a GameStop in NYC
Negative experience: Bad at answering the phones
Negative experience: Doesn't pick up phone and very rude. Made an excuse about his phone dying..
Negative experience: I don’t get why they have a phone if they can’t even pick it up lazy ahh workers
Negative experience: The 2 women that are in the store now were both so rude to me for no reason. The dark skin woman not only refused to do a trade transaction bc of something she claimed the computer was down but she gave me the wrong information regarding another location and refused to check with the other store as she continued to act sarcastic with me.
Negative experience: Never answer the phone.
Positive experience: Was alright I go there whenever I sometimes find a good game
Positive experience: Prices are sky-high and always outta stock
Fantastic experience: Got my switch 2 pre order
Negative experience: Very poor customer service. The sales representative kept conversing with other customers in the store in the middle of our transaction.
Negative experience: I personally as a United States Marine will never go to this GameStop again I went and waited online for 45 minutes with only two people in front of me because the cashier was too busy running her mouth well over 49 minutes into the wait I finally get served this was unprofessional disrespectful and a disgrace to the GameStop corporation I will make sure that none of my military friends will ever visit this game stop in life you have lost our business
Fantastic experience: Wonderful my son loves it
Fantastic experience: Melisa and Royalle were super nice she super helpful in helping me sell my watch. I would definitely come back
Negative experience: Terrible service . Staff works like turtles. They never have what I ask for . They have new employees every month I’ve never seen anyone last long there. They have more funko pops than games . I miss when GameStop was awesome . I’m super surprised out of all the GameStop’s that have been shit down , this one still stands
Negative experience: I have been a Harlem resident for 4 years now. I usually stop by after going to the gym to check for any rare 360 or PS3 titles. My last visit was surprisingly no trouble as I was able to find what I wanted and check out relatively quickly. One of the managers clearly has an issue with me personally and does her best to ignore me (talking to other customers that aren't in line or generally taking her time). Another employee doesn't like me either, and it would seem like I'm the problem, but all I want to do is check out my games and leave in a timely fashion. It's not surprising Gamestop is slowly going out of business, some of the employees and management do not care about customer service whatsoever. If you're in the area and need a quick controller or popular physical release only then is this location worth going to.
Negative experience: The people who work here do not care about your time AT ALL. Every time I come here (only GameStop in the area) I stand on line FOREVER (EVEN IF IM THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE STORE) God it’s frustrating as anything.
Negative experience: The least helpful staff I’ve ever encountered. I took a PS4+games to trade-in and purchase a PS5. I intended to spend almost $1000 with games, accessories, etc. For some reason the PS4 booted up in safe mode— not sure why as it worked fine at home not 30 minutes earlier. They refused to troubleshoot the issue so I had to take the PS4 back home, where it worked just fine. Real gamers used to work at Gamestop, and knew how to handle minor issues like this. Today, there was no interest in helping me, or making a sale. I am trying not to buy stuff from Amazon, but when physical stores are providing no service, are not interested in actually selling anything, how can I justify ever coming back? I felt so extremely unwelcome, there is zero reason for me to return, ever. And know that I will be telling every friend in Harlem to stay away, too.
Negative experience: Underwhelming, under informed, they couldn’t help me with any of my questions…..you’re better off googling it
Negative experience: brought game and the game wasn't they won't return my money
Positive experience: I love this location, and the people that work there are very informative, and helpful, but they are underrated and don't always get deliveries on time..
Negative experience: Naiomi, made it extremely difficult to make a purchase . I made an online order that kept getting canceled . She doesn’t answer the phone and she made up lies as to why it didn’t work . She didn’t allow me to make my purchase in store even though I had credentials . Once I finally made the in store purchase she lied and told me I was eligible for a free GameStop pro account then charged me for it . She says she’s the manager but act like a new hired. She was extremely unprofessional .
Fantastic experience: I came into NYC GameStop on 125st and had the best customer service experience ever in my life. Ms. Laura Marshall went above and beyond to ensure that I walked out with a smile. I can’t thank you enough, Ms. Marshall!
Negative experience: They don't answer phone. Called four times yesterday about a missing order with no answer, yet was able to get GameStop corporate to answer twice.
Positive experience: 3 stars because Laura was great! The line was long with about 5 customers ahead of me, and 2 cashiers. 1 of them walked off after checking out a customer, leaving the other (Laura) alone with a long line. Despite the challenging situation, Laura provided excellent service. She patiently checked out each customer (including me) without rushing them. The “manager” walked out the store and didn’t even offer assistance. Laura's professionalism and composure under pressure made me appreciate my experience. She went above and beyond for me, looking for an item until she found it. Thanks Laura.
Negative experience: Staff is just there for a check ... Multiple employees there and I was waiting online for damn near 15 minutes just to purchase one game
Fantastic experience: Do You Have Google Play Store Card?
Fantastic experience: Solid gamestop store.
Fantastic experience: Gamestop gets a lot of hate for no reason. Staff was great and selection is always gonna be random
Fantastic experience: Super Customer Satisfaction Love it
Negative experience: The wait time is terrible. Usually only one cashier. When you call ahead to confirm anything or to ask anything they never answer there phone. Worth gamestop in NYC
Negative experience: This gamestop need to get shut down workers there are so rude. I went to buy mlb the show 24 and 2k25 and they try to give me it in a DVD case .. smh smh smh smh..so embarrassing...
Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to this GameStop for a long time. There used to be one closer to me on 145th but they closed down unfortunately. I think yesterday was the first time I had an excellent customer service experience thanks to Leo who effortlessly helped me trade in my PS5. Just waiting on line you could feel the good vibes. Young gamers were there running around, older gamers were there talking about their favorite games, and there was a strong sense of camaraderie between employees.
Negative experience: I’m currently at the store, and store is closed at 8:20 but closing says 9pm. Went online to check store inventory for meta quest 2. I get to store and store says they don’t have it, the store also had display on the sales floor yesterday advertising meta 2 set but it wasn’t in stock in the store even though I checked inventory online and called before hand. I waited on the line for nothing… then to return to the store today and they are closed early. My son was so disappointed.
Negative experience: Q: How often u get games in-stock? A: “w/e they come out” Lmao unbothered icon queen fr, she just b answering loud aaa ringtone n not sayin a dthing. lk fw it, still won’t b back, midtown they might sigh, but at least help u, like bro ik i didn’t only take a bar 2 go n for all that answer.
Negative experience: The guy at the counter was friendly and talkative. They have a nice selection of Funko pops but the store could definitely use a little makeover because it’s been the same setup for years and I’ve been in others that feel more vibrant than this one. Would also like to say don’t waste your time trying to call because I can almost guarantee that you won’t get an answer So I ran an experiment and called multiple times through out the day for a week straight and never got an answer they need to fire and hire the team that’s working there because it’s obvious they don’t want to be there
Fantastic experience: Candice was really polite and helpful. Amazing women. Gamestop ain't nothing without her.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly workers the place does not look bad has a nice selection of things
Positive experience: The line be long and the workers always move extra slow
Fantastic experience: Christian was super helpful and personable. I was able to get what I needed and be on my way.
Positive experience: Good store but had to wait in line for a long time
Positive experience: 7 people in the store and only 1 person working. The guy was nice even though he was being slammed.
Negative experience: Trash!! They don’t even call you when you pre order!! And try to give u scraps for New games.
Fantastic experience: The staff was helpful and friendly, only thing i have to say about this store is whats unavailable online they might have it in stock in store, even if it says it doesn’t online.
Negative experience: The store manager dont pick up the phone call. I call over 10 times, terrible customer service very hostel when I came in person because no one picks up. The manager Naomi she was so rude made me feel unwelcome. When i came into the store. Sad to have a disrespectful Manager
Fantastic experience: Good location and the young lady that works there was awesome and very nice
Positive experience: Staff doesn't seem organized, they take customers at random regardless of who was in need of assistance longer. Besides that, same as every other game stop.
Negative experience: Avoid at ALL cost. This place has people who do not know their own company/store policies. I now see why Gamestop almost crashed recently and it is due to their poor hiring and this store is a good example. I have visited this store about 5-6 times and its a hit and miss (mainly miss) please do yourself a favor VERIFY the information they give you with other stores or look for someone there that is not new and may give you accurate information. When they bring someone in from another store to cover you can clearly see the difference in professionalism. In the last month I made $$$ of purchases and pre-orders and sadly had to cancel and take my business elsewhere. Lets start with my OLED console pre-order. I was given incorrect information and not only did I make it a mission to travel and get the console I gifted elsewhere (Bestbuy) but came back to personally cancel my pre-order here. It was time/money wasted but at least I did not give them business. I was silly enough and left 1 other pre-order pending. Weeks later when the time came to pick up my game I found out the clusterfk of a mess they made and everyone in line was upset. So to sum it all up this store should be closed and the supervisor fired because he isn't doing his job. They need a regional manager to come and see how they can fix things in this location because they will continue to upset/lose business here. Based on my last experience this month I will personally never pre-order or shop at the very least at this Gamestop. I am heavily leaning on simply buying from Bestbuy even if it is a higher price due to poor customer service at most Gamestops.
Negative experience: I WOULD TOTALLY GIVE THIS A 0 STAR, THEY SAID THEY WOULD OPEN AT 10AM AND YOU GOT MORE THAN 15 PEOPLE STANDING OUTSIDE AND THEY ARE STILL NOT OPEN 40 MINUTES LATER SMH SHOULD GO OUT OF BUISNESS AND ITS A FRIDAY WHERE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE FUN SMH NO WONDER WHY YALL GOT A 3 STAR LOL
Positive experience: Know it’s coming sooner than later but I’ll miss um a lil when there gone.
Positive experience: Is with most gamestops this one looked poorly maintained and abandoned. It's becoming something im always expecting walking into one.
Fantastic experience: One of the only ones still opened in Harlem the one on 116 and 105 closed
Negative experience: Do not bother calling this place. Their landline is on silent and they do not pay any attention to it. This place is very busy as there are really no other options to go in the area. So, be prepared to stand in line
Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Also very slow on pick up orders.
Fantastic experience: The female manager treated me way better than my local gamestop does. Gateway center in the Bronx is a joke!
Fantastic experience: Always hospitable towards me at this location.
Fantastic experience: Inventory was readily available at this location. Professionalism was appreciated. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable!
Positive experience: Always waiting on long lines when you sell things back for cash you get less then what you payed for a used system I bought ps3 for 159 and they gave me back 28 dollers
Fantastic experience: The Last GameStop in Harlem and I wanna Say the last one in upper Manhattan in General! Staff are Good People! - they are over worked and not well Stocked due to the company’s decline since the digital Era. But let’s just hope this one sticks around for a while. So Shop Smart and be supportive as much as you can.
Negative experience: incredibly scummy staff. went in to purchase games and was told it was unavailable. very fair. I asked to buy a digital code and it was “sold out”. I asked to see the 3DS games they were selling that I could VISIBLY SEE in the drawer and the staff told me they don’t sell 3DS games. I asked for an inventory print out and was told they are unable to do so (even though every single other GameStop I’ve been to has done so with no issue) I love shopping at GameStop and this location is convenient but the staff are awful. please go to another location
Negative experience: Customer service is not the best… This GameStop makes me unhappy and the staff is unable to satisfy customer
Fantastic experience: Game stop on Jerome and moshulo is the best hands down always get my games there without a preorder on release day not like 125st by the magic Johnson theater which said I wouldn't get the game without a pre oder guess ya dropped the ball I'll never waste my time on 125th for games
Negative experience: They almost never answer the phone no matter how many times you call. And there was an unknown situation on Sunday July 31st in which the store did not open until 2:45pm. What gives?!
Negative experience: Pricey. They wanted $55.00 dollars for a 20.00 game. And workers are extremely slow. Limited items. I'll order online going forward....
Negative experience: One of the cashiers was very rude to every customer that came in. I was there with my husband who was helped by a different person who was very nice. The other cashier was rude and disrespectful. We didn't have to interact with him personally but I overheard him being very nasty to several other customers while I waited for my husband.
Negative experience: I will never do business with GameStop again after having to deal with this store. They conned me into renewing my power up card yearly membership after I initially declined they claimed it was free with my current points (it wasn’t ) and failed to disclose how it was actually being paid for. I tried to call the store to sort out the issue and was disrespected and hung up on by the employee “Myesha” when I called back to get Myeshas name (GameStop customer service asked me for her name) Geri answered and tried to claim the girl was no longer there and I had to ask 4-5 times for the girls name before Geri would tell me. I shouldn’t have to ask several times to get a name that customer service asked for. She then told me I should have sympathy for the worker cause she has a “long line.” Ive worked retail many years in stores with very large lines and never once treated a customer like that and informed her that was no excuse. Ive been told for 17 days that the regional manager Chris would call me and he has failed to do so. I was also told by Geri that the warranty sticker machine was broken and that I had magically actually bought warranty (when I had not my receipt said it clear as day) there was no reason to lie and withhold information. It is very clear something wrong is going on in that store. Check your receipts! If you’ve ever gotten your power up card there or any warranty make sure you weren’t actually conned out of your points or earned rewards. Edit: years later still never heard back from the company. Yet again tried to do business with them and they are so incompetent.
Negative experience: They are lazy at this location, I had to travel back upstate to exchange something that they could've changed, but they are lazy!
Negative experience: They don’t have PS3 game but Xbox 360 yes no ps5
Fantastic experience: Love shopping here for my grandson we have fun, Staff is very friendly, helpful and their knowledge of products helps me a lot!
Positive experience: The workers are cool and know what they talking about when it comes to video games and systems
Negative experience: There very cheap in the buy back department my only issue lile 12 $for a game that just came out a month b4 u freaking kidding me we pay hard workin cash for them games for u too buy it back at a quarter of the price
Fantastic experience: Personally I only shop at gamstop once in a while when I'm in the mood to do so. I shop at other gaming stores in the city like j&l games, video games New York or Brooklyn video games.
Fantastic experience: Once again I spent almost $70 dollars on a game but that's why I work to get what ever My children want , even if it's $70 dollars.
Positive experience: I only went there for to pick up a Christmas gift I ordered online for a pickup just be careful when coming out the store
Fantastic experience: I remember the old Funco Land days, now we have Game Stop!
Fantastic experience: Show time @ gameStop it's real!! And the best place to shop for your favorite game
Fantastic experience: Service is fast. Accurate and not too friendly and respectful, quick and explained to me very professionally. I will said. Service is one of the best I had.
Fantastic experience: Small establishment with friendly staff. Very attentive.
Positive experience: No one's ever available to assist you but other then that they ok
Fantastic experience: The staff people are so friendly and hard working!
Fantastic experience: That is my new game stop shop from now on me and my 14 year daughter enjoy the hour we spent there, fun day..
Positive experience: The store wasn't too crowded and they had most of the games available.
