GameStop: Reviews
Negative experience: I rarely shop at GameStop, so when they asked me to purchase their rewards program I politely said no. He kept on telling me how much money I could save and I said no. The two employees then had a full conversation about how another person that came in recently could have got all this stuff for free and they don't understand why people actively choose to throw away money. Make it less obvious next time, if someone says no just move on with your life. I know it's their job to sell things but to make customers feel bad about not wanting something makes them feel like crap.
Negative experience: I guess the game store is just about dead. I'm seriously bummed. I went to Walmart to snag a game, they dont have any so I drove a half hour to the mall to trusty ol gamestop and it was terrible. The store is in shambles. Its filthy, looks like they havent swept the place in months, there is garbage in every corner, the products they have aren't organized and when you go to check out, the registers are disgusting and the countertop is flooded with electrical strips with wires going everywhere and clutter. So I snagged a couple used games despite the sad atmoshpere and waited near the register for a few minutes without a nod or acknowledgement of any kind. The dude behind the counter finally calls up this chick that came up after I did, let's her ask a question, then he barrades her about me being next. I was trying to ignore it. Then proceeds to go on a rant about where the sign for line is in the middle of their mess. The dude stops half way through to get my attention because apparently he was talking to me!! He then starts his rant over for me to tell me where to stand in line next time ( there won't be one bud). I give him a "cool bro" and hand him my games. He starts by asking me if im a member, I say no, then he insists its time for me to give him my info to become a member, I say no, then he asks me of I want to purchase insurance on my video games, I say no, then he has to sell it even more like im ridiculous for not wanting to spend more than I already am on a video game! I tell him I just want to buy the games. Now he gets visible upset that I dont want any of his extra crap, says a few more gnarly comments about how im in the wrong spot to pay him with cash. I finally get through thus agonizing exchange, say "have a good day man" and the dude ignores me like I'm his boyfriend that skipped top off Thursday or something. Well I guess its time to let the ol video game store rest in peace finally. Save yourself the trouble, buy online I guess.
Positive experience: Was busy when we went in but the line moved quickly the workers were helpful and nice. Order pick up was easy.
Negative experience: Staff here are inventing laws to avoid doing their jobs. I called to verify trade-in procedures using a valid, government-issued temporary ID. 'Anthony' claimed paper IDs are 'illegal' for resale—a complete fabrication of state law. When challenged on this misinformation, he hung up. Another employee, 'Emily,' used excessive hold times as a deterrent. If you want to do business, go elsewhere. These employees lack basic training on compliance and customer respect.
Negative experience: Incident Description – Store Visit on 12/28/25 On 12/28/25 between approximately 12:00–12:05 PM, I was in the store purchasing trading cards. While checking out, I asked the cashier (a heavier-set male employee) if a veteran’s discount could be applied. I was told it could not be honored, even after presenting valid Veterans ID. While this was frustrating, I initially accepted the response. The employee then stated that “they have been complaining about us giving out the veterans discount.” When I asked who “they” were, no clarification was provided. At that point, I chose to cancel the purchase and leave. I was not there to argue and have never had an issue requesting the discount at this location in the past. What was more concerning occurred earlier in the visit. While speaking to another customer, the same employee said, “I really don’t like when people bring kids in here,” which appeared to be directed at me, my wife, and my daughter as we entered the store. We did not respond or engage, and we continued shopping without saying anything. I later submitted a formal complaint to the GameStop corporate office regarding this interaction. I am not explicitly stating this was discrimination, but the comments and behavior felt inappropriate and unprofessional, and it left a negative impression of the experience.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service, go to Clackamas, they are nice. This store cancelled my transaction, because I didn't want the membership, after I waited 20 minutes in line. I won't ever come here again.
Negative experience: Can't stand the people working behind the counter, manager included. How dare a female video game character, Zelda, have emotions and be female, and such, in a video game (which was the sentiment I got when I explained I finally got the opportunity to play BOTW). I especially hate the defeated, slumped shoulder reaction reaction I got when I never want to buy subscription to GameStop for their bonuses and rewards that I.... Paid for. 2 stars though because they did have what I needed for Xmas gifts. If you want shitty service, go here.
Negative experience: Funny my complaint has literally been noted by others before but not like any change gets done my three year old had to pee and I was trying to purchase a game and the man wanted to do his pitch on a membership and after 3 no’s he asked me to stop and let him say his pitch. When I said no I just want to purchase this game he signed off and walked away saying he won’t help me. Why? Because I don’t want to give you more money? Now I’m not even going to purchase these games either….
Negative experience: They FIGHT you on the replacement coverage when you actually try to use it on the controllers!! They sell the coverage saying “Anything happens to it you’re covered! Even if you rage quit!” Which is why I purchased the extra coverage because my son has gone through so many controllers that way. When I went to exchange it they initially said no because the top was a little bit separated from the bottom from him throwing it…which is EXACTLY what the salesman said would be covered! I put up a wee bit of a stink and they did it “this one time” for me but kinda shady IMO. Anyone reading this should either think twice about buying the coverage or push when they say no (even though you absolutely shouldn’t have to.) Oh and you can not return a controller after you open it..not even the same day after your son doesn’t like the color. Ugh Best Buy, Fred Meyer and Amazon from here on out.
Fantastic experience: Never a good experience anymore but that's corporates fault, store employees are all legit.
Fantastic experience: very friendly staff knowledgeable
Fantastic experience: Stephen is great!
Fantastic experience: My son always enjoys stopping by the Vancouver Mall GameStop because they have a great selection of new games to check out. We purchased a refurbished Xbox there and it’s been working perfectly. The staff is always helpful and friendly, which makes it a great experience every time we stop in!
Fantastic experience: GameStop is always a great place to find plenty of new release games and equipment for your consoles. They also sell used games and consoles. There is also plenty of merchandise like plushies, t-shirts, and many other figurines and accessories. The employees working there are really kind and friendly. I recommend checking it out.
Negative experience: They are very pushy on selling you a pro membership even if you said no they ask why , some of the employees are rude and don't have professional customers service guess ill be going to bestbuy
Fantastic experience: The store was clean & organized. They were ready for me when I got there to pick up a package for delivery & very friendly.
Negative experience: Very rude I tried calling to ask a few questions soon as he answered my first question he hung up
Negative experience: No signs up mot anything saying why they’re not open apparently they’re doing inventory but they can’t take the time to put up a sign with people standing outside or at least address customers poor management poor leader ship not how you run a store specially with customers you should’ve done inventory early morning overnight. Next time put up a sign stable at least what time you’re gonna open having people waiting outside the door for you to open as you’re doing inventory is ridiculous some of us are on lunch and limited time
Negative experience: I went in today and bought NCAA Basketball 2009 for my Xbox then I looked at the back of the disc it has scratches then I put it in my Series X it’s not even compatible for it and lastly I called and they don’t even see if there games work
Negative experience: Imagine being an employee trying to shove memberships down customers throats. We say no we don’t want a membership, dude IMMEDIATELY gets heated and starts pressing asking “why don’t you want to save money in the long run!” Raising his voice at us and telling US we need to have a better attitude. Let’s work on customer service here, his female coworker is great! Anger management classes help bud, so do veneers:)
Negative experience: You know. GameStop is cool. People are helpful and they know their stuff fun to talk to. But when it comes to PSA grading. Good luck. Do not give them money on your cards. Do not use them as an intermediary. I sent my order with the. On Dec 28th. It is now March 4th. I go in the store I am told we can't help you until GameStop calls or emails you. I call PSA to see if they can track the shipment my cards were in they can't. I call GameStops customer service. Their customer service number is a joke. You wait in que to be told they can not help you at this time. Then you request a call back when they can help. You get a call back of an automated voice saying they can not help you. Just pay the extra money and go to PSA directly. I am assuming my cards are just sitting in the back in a shipment box waiting to be scanned or something. And the employees just don't want to do it. I am going to file a lost card claim if I do not get an answer from GameStop by the end of the week. This has been such a long processes. Holy crap. And GameStop is clueless. Give me some type of response so I don't hate you
Fantastic experience: Who doesn't love GameStop. I like all their purse / back options. My son's love their video games and all the plushies they carry here.
Fantastic experience: The company as a hole ain't doing so well. Still the best place to trade old games for new or used, and if you're at a good store, they can fix your controller. The workers will do their best to help you in every way possible. Support your local game stop. Game on female dogs.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. Great selection.
Negative experience: I bought a used Xbox 360 game and it came cracked
Positive experience: Nice workers and good selection of used games.
Positive experience: Patronized game stop for a game controller. The young lady had a cheerful attitude and very good customer service. She worked hard to up sell the product.
Negative experience: Took my money online then told me the product doesn't exist physically when I came to pick it up .. she assumed it was probably stolen after I ordered it they had other copies for 1$ different but refused to give me one stating i would have to purchase it again when they have my money already. They them it was very rude and short with me as if I was causing her the problems
Positive experience: They have a decent amount of retro games ,and a slightly bigger selection of current games. They do have a lot of junk like toys, stuffies, and Funko pops in there. The staff is great and friendly.
Negative experience: Store is unorganized. Employees have horrible customer service skills.
Negative experience: Game stop Vancouver mall sold me a headset that doesn’t fit my console controller after I asked several times if it would fit. When I went to return it the guy who sold it to me was talking to his buddy while I stood in line and the other employee was busy with an actual customer ( but took about 45 minutes to sell him a ps5) I had been in line about 15 minutes being ignored by this guy even though I know he could see me in line. Made no attempt to help me then walked into the back room to clock out. When he came back out I asked him why he said this headset would fit when it clearly doesn’t so he says he can’t help me because he’s clocked out and i asked if there’s anyone else working who could process this return so I could leave since I’d been in line over 40 minutes at this point. He said no of course then goes back to talking to his buddy and I could hear him talking bad about me. I thought customers are supposed to be literally the one reason these people have their jobs Apparently he thinks customers don’t matter. When I finally returned it I was leaving and the same guy sarcastically says really loud have a nice day I promise one thing that I will NEVER return to this game stop or probably any game stop ever again. Management should look into training their employees so they not only actually know what they’re talking about when selling products but also pay attention to paying customers when they’ve been in line for a long time and not stand in the corner talking trash about a customer while trying to get sympathy points from his buddy. Screw game stop and that clown who works at the van mall location
Negative experience: They do not want business here. They don't price match and the don't do a hood job at selling pro membership
Fantastic experience: Good games just don't trade your stuff in low value for them
Fantastic experience: Love me some GameStop shopping.
Negative experience: Pretty typical mall location standard Gamestop. Mostly modern games and a lot of things are locked away anyway. They don't have a wide selection and prices are not always the best.
Fantastic experience: There's an employee named Anthony here who is PHENOMENAL! I had Eldin Ring on hold as a surprise to my boyfriend. I forgot my ID at home, so I needed my boyfriend to show his ID at the counter to purchase the game. Anthony was so cool to hide the game from my BF's line of sight, as to not ruin the surprise! I think small gestures like that are lost when it comes to customer service these days, which I understand to some degree because life is punching down at most of us. But the small courtesy Anthony showed me today really made my week. Thank you so much Anthony!!
Fantastic experience: Anthony was really nice and helpful and Let’s know when the LEGO Star Wars of the Lukeskywalker saga
Positive experience: It's gamestop, so I'm sure most people know what they do. Only been here a few times. The staff was friendly and seem kinda knowledgeable, but cant expect them to play every game. As for selling thing here most the time you just feel ripped off. So all on all great place to get a decent priced used game. Great return policy on them. Just don't waste time selling them things unless you really just don't need them.
Negative experience: Waited in line for half an hour. To be told they won't sell to me without an ID. Cuz the game is rated M. I'm almost 30.
Negative experience: This was super disrespectful went here today to purchase a Nintendo DS for my son Christmas present. The price on the Nintendo DS $169 So I said, I would like to buy this supervisor male named Jasmine Oh no I have to change the price. I said no he says well it’s up in the computer different super disrespectful. I will definitely not be returning to this GameStop. I am Hispanic, and felt like I was being mistreated.
Fantastic experience: someone please give julia a raise!! i lost my debit card a while ago and she still gave me a refund!! there was also a long line so props to the other workers! anyways thank you julia
Fantastic experience: Game Stop is a great place to shop for all your gaming needs. They have an extensive selection of both new and used games, consoles, and accessories. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable, and they are always willing to help you find the perfect game for your needs. The prices are reasonable, and they often have good deals and discounts available. The store is well-stocked and well-maintained, and they always have something new to check out. I highly recommend Game Stop for anyone looking to buy video games or accessories.
Fantastic experience: It is GameStop people should stop expecting more.
Fantastic experience: I've been going up to this GameStop ever since the mall put it in there. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff about any games that you have questions about. The prices are pretty average when you think about games. The used games I have never had a problem with, And they all work perfectly so if you are going to get a game there see if there's one that's been used you might get a better deal.
Fantastic experience: Didn't buy anything but the employees were low-pressure and chill and answered all the questions i had
Positive experience: Have always preferred this store to the mall for several reasons, but mainly because they have more stock in better condition. Always friendly , patient staff. Great selection and never have they been completely swamped when I've gone in.
Negative experience: I've had constant problems and issues with everything here. I've had my pre-orders denied for several days before I was finally able to get the game I paid for
Fantastic experience: Friendly personnel. Good variety
Negative experience: Buy products in store, don't buy online. In store better, online you get what they send you.
Positive experience: Cool store. Prices could be cheaper for used games.
Positive experience: Its an okay location, can get congested, which is understandable being its in the mall, just normally when i go to this location im directed to the other location as they rarely have had what i seek in the moment. Again its not their fault. Location is intense at times. Window shoppers galore. staff is pretty helpful. Have been shoppin this location since Black Ops release Night.
Fantastic experience: not bad place i buy here game`s
Positive experience: Wish there was more of a selection...
Positive experience: Would eat here again
Positive experience: I HATE THIS PLACE! Every time I go in there, I spend money!! I feel the pull again now to go in there and finally buy a series X. I….must….resist…..
Negative experience: Pre ordered a game. Was promised it would be here in 1-3 days. It never came. I called them and asked ahy...it was out of stock. Maybe in3 was I should receive it. They never notified me of this and refuse to cancel my oder
Fantastic experience: This GameStop is the best! The one in the Vancouver mall makes everything hard to understand and never has stuff in stock. Best GameStop I have been to, Alfonzo is very nice and helpful!
Negative experience: More interested with opening Pokémon cards than helping customers. Very rude staff
Fantastic experience: Good GameStop, vary welcomeing
Positive experience: This store has friendly staff.
Positive experience: Everyone seems to be in a rush and dont want to answer question, phone lines take forever to get through. Do have a lot of games.
Negative experience: Horrible experience I bought many games online and I never received the games and I called them and they refused Refund the money or send another game don’t ever buy online from this business you wast your money
Fantastic experience: Had all the current games the grands are looking for
Negative experience: Need better selection of kid games.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service, very polite, helpful. Friendly and price matched.
Fantastic experience: Always have the best merchandise on hand. Way to go!
Positive experience: Very helpfull staff.
Positive experience: I love going to gamestop. Its pricy on the used switch games...but great selection if you can afford them. The prices they give on selling games to them is low. It's better to pawn or sale them at a pawn shop or online. I don't buy usedvgames at gamestop anymore because of there price gouging. Still shop for new games there...but thats it.
Fantastic experience: Great experience, great employees, great selection. They know their video games.
Negative experience: Ive bought multiple items such as headsets and controllers that dont work. Sure they're pre-owned but why would you sell broken items to a customer. I have tried to bring these items back and of course i can not return them or get a replacement. Its not the first time and i think people should be careful what you buy.
Negative experience: Selling used items as new, terrible selection.
Positive experience: Fun visit. I enjoyed showing my son the mall near where I grew up and we a good time browsing here!
Fantastic experience: Staff was helpful, great deals, large selection.
Positive experience: Clean, good service, and selection. Really nice staff.
Negative experience: I taking back my previous score. That store has gone downhill so quickly. The only reason I give it 1 star is because they have a semi decent nintendo switch section.
Positive experience: Good gamestop but all things considered it would be much better to get your games from literally anywhere else, gamestop is just quickly going out of fashion l. Digitally there are very frequent and high discounts and if you want a hard copy it would be better to get one on ebay or offerup.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and attentive staff with good product selection on the shelves
Fantastic experience: traded ps4 games for a Xbox series s Andrew was quick and helpful.
Positive experience: Great place for used games,
Fantastic experience: I am not a gamer but my kids are and whenever I go into the store to buy them gifts the employees are full of recommendations and helpful tips. Prices are average to good. No complaints.
Negative experience: Got a controller and the literal next day cant get a refund and offer 20 bucks for it back.
Negative experience: Someone needs to fire Tabithas rude a$$ Not helpful at all and acts like it's the last place she's trying to be.
Fantastic experience: Great place for game advice.
Positive experience: Barren of products and overall very depressing.
Positive experience: Not the best customer service not greatest selection
Positive experience: Its a gamestop! Didnt have a game they were displaying, but the staff was friendly and apologetic.
Negative experience: I bought a controller from here and it was the first time I've ever bought a warranty too but I noticed she never gave me my receipt, I didn't think too much of it though because they always email receipts, but then when it randomly lost the ability to connect to my xbox I went to check my email to find the receipt and the receipt completely left off the purchase of the warranty but I was still charged as if I bought one, so I don't think I'll be coming back.
Positive experience: Beware sometimes they will tack on game warranty insurance you didn't ask for.
Positive experience: They are nice, but a bit assuming. For example one individual put insurance on my game without me asking. Nice gesture, but I quickly let him know that it wasn't necessary. I don't look like a gamer type, and I make my kids take care of their games. (Just makes me wonder how many Grandparents and moms may have had that tacked on their tickets prematurely without asking for it.) Other than the misunderstanding they do great trying to help you out and have a decent selection for a high traffic location.
Negative experience: I have spent a LOT of money at this store, seen management and employees shift a few times, watched relationships between employees and customers waver between genuine and transactional, and suffered many screw-ups on the store's part that they weren't willing to fix. I moved all my pre-orders over to another store, hoping I'd have a better experience than here. I pre-ordered a game months in advance, was never called about it coming in and being ready, called in about a week after it was apparently there, was told it was sitting there waiting for me, spent the time and gas to head to the store, only to be told that I was lied to on the phone. My game wasn't there. The associate didn't bother to take the time to confirm whether or not the game was there. I got told that someone else bought it because it was sitting there for over 48 hours and never got picked up. Other stores have confirmed that they hold games for up to a week after the release date. Someone is lying, and nobody wants to take responsibility for the lies and miscommunication. I'm hoping my money serves a different location better.
Positive experience: They have usual stuff for a gaming store, no luck and trying to find collectibles or harder to find games.
Negative experience: I went in to get a battery pack for Xbox x series. I had an employee that sold a rechargeable battery pack and said that it will work. Turns out he was wrong. The battery didn’t fit. And now I can’t return it because the package is open. Customer service is horrible here.
Fantastic experience: Gamestop in general kinda sucks, but the staff here made it a very plesent experience.
Positive experience: It's a nice place I walk here quite a bit and it usually has what I'm looking for
Positive experience: The place is good. Just hope they get playstation 5
Fantastic experience: Stoped by .and bought a mandolin mug for my hubby..very nice service
Fantastic experience: Great for games people are very helpful!!
Positive experience: Not even really sure why GameStop even exists anymore.
Negative experience: Dude charged me for a warenty, didn't tell me the price, and I didn't realise it until after I walked out the door
Fantastic experience: They have a good selection and great customer service
