Positive experience: Pretty cool store. They got a lot of retro games/consoles up to the latest/current generation of gaming. Prices are not bad but it really depends on what you're getting. They even sell model kits, plushes and other anime/game related merchandise.

Fantastic experience: Very fun store for game/anime/Japan fans. Friendly, mostly very pleasant staff. Good selection of various games, posters, mystery boxes, etc.

Fantastic experience: Came for a disc repair for a couple of my favorite PS2 games, ended up leaving with like-new discs plus more. I did not expect how really affordable their disc repairs are, so that was a bonus for me. Shout out to the manager, Wayne, for not only an expeditious repair, but also an exceptional customer service!

Negative experience: This place is so over priced! Its crazy they have been able to stay open this long. 90 bucks for mario kart on N64 is crazy work. The wii items were over priced to. Not worth the trip.

Fantastic experience: Really nice people easy to talk to. They knew what they were talking about when I asked for game recommendations, they don’t have a lot of anime figures but I did get one of choso and it wasn’t that expensive for how good it is like today I traded some of my Nintendo games and I got Splatoon three with the store credit I got it was amazing they also offered me more store credit and cash then GameStop.

Fantastic experience: They sell new and used games & game systems New and old. If You've been looking for that favorite throwback this is definitely the place to find it.

Positive experience: Pretty great place. I got a pokemon Eevee set from here a few years ago. Great atmosphere. Recommend this game place.

Negative experience: Don’t bother trading in anything here, I’m not sure how they decide the amount they offer but it’s really bad. I understand you have overhead and stuff to take care of so thats why you sell things a higher price than eBay but the offers are insulting. If I come in with something that sells for (not just listed for) say $50 or so on eBay you should not be offering $4. I know you will be selling it for much more than $50, I walked around and price compared your stock while you were going through my games. I didn’t even want the cash, I was trading them in for store credit so I could get the high price of one of your items down a bit. Even if you offered me $10, which is still low, I wouldn’t feel as insulted and would have just declined and bought what I came there for.

Fantastic experience: Long time shopper of VGH and while their prices tend to be around market value, their selection and customer service is top notch. My recent visit I called ahead about games that work with the Sega Dreamcast Fishing Rod controller and the lady in the phone was swift in helping me find both ringing me up, and just having a pleasant conversation about games. Highly recommend you check out this location, at least once.

Fantastic experience: Took my daughter's Xbox in for repair, they were able to get it fixed and back to me quickly and a lot cheaper than buying a new one! Thank you!! Will definitely be back to do more business

Fantastic experience: Great place to nerd out. Walk in and breathe the nostalgia. Great selection from Atari to ps5 and more. If you have to take ibuprofen in the morning just to get out of bed, you will enjoy a visit.

Positive experience: I went in with a PS4 slim and 18 games expecting to get at least a fair deal. What I got was worse than going to a pawn shop. And considering the outrageous markups they have on everything in their store it won’t surprise me to see them make %100 to %300 profit over what they gave me. And yes I accepted the deal because I’m not a gamer and there were other personal reasons why I wanted to sell this off. But I’m also not stupid to knowing that this was scummy and downright criminal on their part. It also sucks when people talk about how evil capitalism is and examples like this don’t help the argument against it. So long story short, if you want to go there to buy games and stuff go ahead, in that aspect they have a nice store with a lot of options. But don’t go to sell or trade, you won’t get a fair deal.

Positive experience: Great place with great stuff, but holy mackerel, their prices are marked up 30% to 100% more than market value, even considering a slight markup for certain items in great condition. They have a lot of inventory, but that's the reason why. Their stuff is priced so high, so it sits. As for the staff, they were friendly during my visit, so that was a plus. Examples - Super Mario Sunshine CIB for GameCube was priced at $79.99 and it's going for somewhere around $45-50 as of this posting. Pikmin CIB for GameCube was also priced at $79.99 and is going for $45-50 market value. All their games are extremely overpriced like this.

Positive experience: Pretty decent selection. There's a lot of used games to choose from but not so many new ones. They are quite pricey, though. I came in one day and immediately found the game I was looking to buy but the price was insane. Looked it up on my phone and found a copy on ebay for 5% of that price. Walked out with no purchase that day. A few months later, I dug up an old console I needed repaired and they fixed it right up. They were fast and the price was reasonable for what the issue was. I expected to be overcharged for what they sell used games for but I was fairly happy. Would definitely recommend their services.

Fantastic experience: "WL" (didn't catch his name) was super helpful! Managed to find and sell me a copy of Fallout NV for my original 360! Thanks to him I can play this classic again. Very cool store as well, nice decor and has a wide variety of items.

Fantastic experience: Great, a nerds/weebs paradise. I could bankrupt myself easily. They were great and prompt. And even offered me a chair as I have mobility issues atm. Got pins, stickers, and a drink. In added picture the pins I got are the portal set and the rupees.

Fantastic experience: This place is so cool!! Tons of video games, all very neatly catalogued and labeled (which isn't always the case at retro game shops!) The staff is very friendly and engage you and offer assistance. The store has a lot to take in with the variety of offerings such as import toys, plushies, and figures. There's something for everyone here if you like anime/pop culture/gaming. The prices are also really good, especially since a lot of the non-video game stuff is imported. Definitely stop by and take a look, you'll find something you love for sure.

Positive experience: I have been here quite a few times over the years, and have generally found the service and selection to be great. However, this last time I was not as impressed. I went in looking for a specific type of controller that wasn't too expensive for a system I just bought. The gentleman that worked there recommended one after I told him what game I wanted to use it for. Well, after opening the package and trying to pair the controller, we instantly found out that controller does not work for that particular game. No worries, we would just swing back around and return it real quick. Well, when I went in, the same gentleman that recommended the controller to me, told me I could only get store credit. I understand they have a store policy, but since he was the one that recommended an incorrect controller in the first place, I figured this would be an exception. It left a bad taste in my mouth, and I most likely will not be back for a while.

The young woman working there recommended another game and since I saved so much on the first one I was able to purchase the 2nd one. Negative experience: I have went here plenty of times and have had a good experience everytime. Today, however I called up because I have a device I no longer have need for and have been trying to figure out where I can sell it for the best price. I have called 4 different stores, and got a quote from each. I have done this plenty of times so I don't drive far for no reason. This store however, refused to give any type of quote or ballpark estimate making it frustrating because them being further from my house then I would like to drive, without having an idea of what to expect. This is not a common practice among the game stores so I am grateful for that. They have lost a customer and a sale. Like I said I have shopped plenty of times and never had a problem so this shocked me.

Negative experience: Lowballed on video game prices. All games were in great condition and only took 3 Xbox One games and 3 Nintendo games and got $9.13 for all 6. Won't be using them again. I even had some video game guide books that have never been opened that they didn't bother looking at.

Fantastic experience: What really stood out was how helpful and friendly the staff was. They are also consumers and therefore they are passionate about their products and customers. The prices were reasonable, the used items were in great condition, and the holiday sale was pretty generous. I'll be returning in the future.

Fantastic experience: This place is the best. Need some old school Nintendo stuff? Need to preorder a new game? Want some cool Japanese toys or candy? They have it! And the people who work here are so great. They're knowledgeable and honest, and I've never met anyone here that I didn't like.

Positive experience: I was baffled today, I called up 2 they're Chesapeake location to ask if they had any vintage Nintendo Power magazines and much to my surprise the employee said we do not sell those here, now if he had said that we do not have any in stock, that would make sense, however, a store that goes by Video Game Heaven seems to fall short of their title

Positive experience: a great middle ground between the local game shop called old skool & the giant company game stop. Great mix of Retro Gaming Supplies and Hardware all the way to Next Gen gaming consoles and software. Also has the ability to repair more any console.

Fantastic experience: This is my favorite gaming store I have come across in all my years. The store is always clean, neat, and pleasant to the eye. The staff are just a bunch of geeks, and I say that in the best way possible. Just simply the best people who really just want to get to know you and chat about gaming and pop culture. I have gone there several times and just hung out and had great conversations with Will and the rest of associates. A highly recommended place, and one you will not soon forget.

Fantastic experience: Every time I've been here has been spectacular. The trade in values are unbelievably good. As a former gamestop employee I can honestly say the people and the business model they have here absolutely nuke any deal gamestop has or likely will ever have. If these stores weren't around I honestly don't think I'd be playing games anymore. Working for gamestop nearly killed the entire hobby for me and the people employed here helped me rediscover enjoyment in gaming again.

Fantastic experience: Let me tell you (whomever is reading this)... This shop is WHERE IT'S AT!!! Very, very friendly staff. They made me feel right at home! Also, such a nice store. I was being indecisive about which game(s) I wanted to buy less than 40mins before they closed.. yet, they remained extremely patient and friendly all the way to the end. Also- best trade in value ever. Absolutely had to shake the hands of both gentlemen before heading out. If you're debating going there- ABSOLUTELY go. You won't regret it on the contrary, you'll be extremely pleased.

Fantastic experience: We go here usually before we even go to GameStop. Very friendly staff and a locally owned place so double win! We went today exclusively because we were looking for a Nintendo GameCube controller and when we asked GameStop we were quoted $30 for a third party one and even more for a used official one. So when we went over to video game heaven we ended up getting one for $10. This place is definitely a great value and you can always find something awesome here!!

Fantastic experience: VGH is a great local game store! They have a vast selection of games both old and new, as well as a good variety of consoles and peripherals, and they also carry other merchandise including plushies and imported snacks. The staff is nice and open to chat, as well. I go there all the time before work (if I have time), and not once have I had a bad experience.

Fantastic experience: I have gotten so mnay consoles from this place. They have so many games and accessories! So, i got a SNES from them. It didn't work. I came back and they offered to get a working yellow one and swap the top so i could have a non faded grey one!! They go out of their way to make their customers happy!

Positive experience: Never noticed this place until riding by in the parking lot. Great and pretty large selection of games, consoles and guides. Only issue was the gift cards they put money on. Their system goes down and the teller has to notify corporate. No issues though, we got what we came for.

Negative experience: Awful place filled with liars! I called and reserved a gameboy advance and told them that i qwill be there within the hour! I arrived to find they sold my reserved item! Staff is a bunch of jerks that refuse to help you and kust carry on with their conversations, also im this place is shadey they sell mods and weird stuff like tht . I hate this place 1 star

Fantastic experience: It's high time I updated my review for this location as the original one is several years old now. Of the 3 VGH locations this one is my favorite. I find this location has the a great yet diverse collections of games and supported consoles, whether it's the current generation (PS4, XBox One) or the older platforms. One of the great things about this location is they really seem to push new stock into here all the time and that turned me into a regular customer. Whether I'm shopping for myself or a friend who's down in Charlotte, NC. I try to get in here every couple of weeks to see what's available. The staff here is super cool and always helpful and I can't stress enough how wide their variety is. Also they do much better on trade in's than the chain game stores. No matter what console you collect for you'll probably find something here.
