Fantastic experience: Video Game Heaven is a gamers dream house. It's got practically everything from all consoles. There are figures, stickers, posters, vg equipment, games and more. They have a HUGE library. The only ONLY issue is the price. Sometimes to keep things in stock, they buy products online and they have to resell it for a more expensive price but that's really a small gripe. Sometimes they break even but you can find games for less if you search. If you don't want to search, they have it available right now for you to go get. Overall it's a fantastic shop. The employees are nice and genuinely helpful but not overbearing or obnoxious. I would recommend this place to any and all l.

Everyone is friendly, helpful, and knows their stuff. And if they don't know, they find out fast. Their prices are also the most reasonable around. I intend to be a lifelong customer, and I hope others become that too.

Fantastic experience: Purchased a power cord for my Xbox one a few months ago. It stopped working about a week ago. Took it in the other day, no receipt or any proof of purchase, really not expecting them to swap it out. They swapped it out, No questions asked. Kudos to this shop. Support local businesses.

Negative experience: Everytime i visit the girl there is so nasty n rude i like the Chesapeake store way better

Fantastic experience: From the door you are greeted by the staff and the chime from Zelda. Just from a quick scan you can see a number of different things. From collectables to recent titles and everything in between. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I got a lot of great stuff and I can't wait to go back. Prices are fair and I had no issues with the games I bought even though they are close to 30 years old. Very organized and easy to find what you want. For a video game store this one is my favorite.

Positive experience: Alright prices for the stuff in the cabinets. I really come here for the very well priced BOGO discs of games that CIB are normally $8-15 online. Great selection any which way though. The staff are super friendly and helpful! My only complaints are: the slightly higher prices for disc-only games inside the cabinets than what they actually sell for, and the fact that I have gotten a faulty PS2 memory card and a nonfunctional PS1 game from there once. Keep the receipts for a bit; they're good with returns though iirc.

Negative experience: Sold me a very broken copy of DS game. They claimed they never sold it to me that way even in the reply to this review. The item must have made past your "quality control". Why do your price stickers cover the entire back of the game cartridge?(which also hides one of the ways to verify authentic game carts) You are also calling me a liar of which I am not. One of your three associate on Friday sold me this copy; they appeared female. I do not have any pets and keep my retro games protected. I have never had such a problem in all of the retro stores that I have been to across America. They usually have no problem getting you another item, store credit or a return. Most reputable stores would feel embarrassed about selling something broke . I tried to get help with this item after 4 days purchase. I will never go here again. Verify your games before you leave even if you have an account with them. Make sure you also check behind the price stickers. I do not think they even bother to test their games. Just go to ebay. It is cheaper and they actual follow through with the return policy.

Positive experience: Has many figurines, and other gaming accessories. Only issue is that they don't have older anime figures like Zero Two

Negative experience: Don’t sell your stuff to them. I accepted the offer before I realized they gave me ONE DOLLAR for an Xbox one. All because I had a third party controller with it, not a paired controller. Apparently it looses all value without it. Absolutely ridiculous.

Negative experience: Girl behind the counter was very rude. Had checked to see how she was doing because she seemed down/upset but she took it as me being sexist and almost bit my head off. Store is great but the personnel will cause me to not shop there again. Edit: the staff's "reply" shows they got one sided information on the situation and genuinely don't care, or that it was replied by the person in question. I should not be hassled for checking on a person's well being just because I am the opposite gender. I have never in my life been attacked for checking on someone's well being until here.

Positive experience: If you enjoy retro having, or just looking for a place for nostalgia, this is the place. It has mostly fair prices on its wares. I went here on a whim and was glad I did!

Positive experience: Sold me a copy of Lunar Silver Star Harmony: Premium Edition (PSP) as CIB. However, I opened the box and it was not complete. The Premium edition has cards and a soundtrack disc. The soundtrack disc was missing. I didn't mind paying the higher cost since I know they have operating expenses. However, it's unacceptable to be charged by a reputable business full price for a complete item that's not complete. Otherwise, decent store. I've only returned a game once so far (Tekken 2 for Playstation). It had a small crack. Update: They read my review and reached out to me for a resolution we both could agree on. Increase from 3/5 to 4/5.

Fantastic experience: Video game, Heaven is probably one of the best places that I have been to to be able to find retro game systems, retro games, game system accessories, accessories in general, and newer game systems/games as well. I was able to see games that I played back in the early 2000s in late 1990s. It brought back a lot of good memories especially memories when I played on PlayStation one at my father's apartment as a child. Other than that, the staff was super friendly and willing to help and overall I had a wonderful time and I was ecstatic being able to see all of the wonderful things that I used to use and stuff that I never thought that I would be able to get again! Also, they have plenty of other branches of the store throughout the seven cities, so if you cannot come to the specific branch, you may want to go to another one because you will not regret coming here or to any of the other branches.

Positive experience: Appreciate the clean layout and overall vibe in the store. I love visiting new video game stores across the country when on travel just to see how they put themselves together. Nice that they have bargain bin sections with deals associated with them. As is with many stores, price volatility is hard to keep up with. I noticed some of the prices on games behind the glass were more representative of pandemic 2021 pricing (Ex. The Mask SNES, Fatal Frame II Xbox, George Foreman KO Boxing Gameboy, etc.). Now that there's been a bit of decline that will make you look twice if you're a savvy collector at some oddballs. Overall though it's a great selection and it's usually worth paying a bit over market (maybe not as much with some currently marked items) when you can see and touch the product going into your collection. Negative experience: This store and all its other locations blow. Do not trade in anything here, they will give you nothing and they won’t accept half the games because of minor details. You’re better off selling your games online or just keeping them. The prices are garbage, typical eBay prices. If you do decide to come here, check apps like pricecharting or GAMEYE to see how much things are actually worth. Also, stop keeping the actual good games locked up. No one wants to beg an employee to open doors up. It’s a shame because this store has some of the nicest employees I’ve ever encountered and it’s a damn shame they work here. I want to believe I have hope for this store so do better.

I brought 10 games for my Xbox 360 just for $19 where if you shop anywhere else it's going to cost you $20 just for one damn game. And you also can trade games in you brought for other games. Negative experience: The experience at this VGH is a bit of a mix. The game selection and quality is pretty decent, but a handful of the staff just seem like they don’t enjoy working here and have short attitudes in most cases. I enjoy going to the Chesapeake VGH better even though it’s an additional 15 minutes longer distance from my house than this location. The Chesapeake location just feels a lot happier and they are a lot nicer to customers. I hope this location hires more happier employees before the current employees drive most of the customers away.

Fantastic experience: Expert, friendly, informed staff. Spotless, super organized, gorgeous displays. Pricing is competitive and difficult to beat, and occasional sales are typically excellent values (Jan. sale was buy one figure get second half off, kind of a big deal, considering how much just one costs). Inventory is remarkable. Deep libraries of game cartridges, and boxed systems from all eras. Like walking through a gaming history museum. Aptly named store.

Positive experience: Really cool store to shop around in for retro stuff. Prices are pretty high though and the trade-in value is extremely low. Gamestop is better for trade I've recently learned.

Fantastic experience: They have the largest selection of video games, especially retro or older titles, in my area. There is also a multitude of gaming and anime merchandise like figures. The staff is friendly and I love just browsing the store. They have great prices as well. I highly recommend going to check them out if you are in the downtown Norfolk area.

Positive experience: Its a neat place, but its completely overpriced. Lunar for sega cd is a good example. They sell it for 400+. That was the second best selling game. It should be about 150-200 complete at most. They also sell keith courage for the tg-16 (game that was packed in every system) for 24$. No reason that game should ever top 5. I cannot wait for people to wise up to getting cheated. Maybe someday in a better future, a good store will replace them. **Since they replied, I figured I would address the lunar they stated. Eternal blue or silver star, i know both quite well. I have them both for the SCD, and for my Saturn as well, with the video card for better cutscenes. I was just stating that wherever they get pricing info from, it might be slightly overvalued like the stock market. It doesnt matter to me much, my kids enjoy your place. I was just kinda shocked by some of the sticker prices.

Negative experience: Avoid. Prices on NES-N64 are three times their values. Staff is uninformed about basics of retro consoles (couldn’t understand the difference between Av composite cables and component.) They have fake Chinese knock off cables labeled as hyperkin cables.

Fantastic experience: VGH is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in the area. I love seeing all of the classic games. I was able to buy an N64 on a previous visit, and updated HDMI cables for my Dreamcast and N64. I've also found some gems. Plan on spending some money, because you're going to find something you want here.

Fantastic experience: Prices are fair and the variety of games and collectibles is amazing. They have every generation of games from Atari all the way up to the Xbox Series X and the PS5. They also have tons of plushies, figurines and other collectibles for those not necessarily looking for games at the moment. It's well worth a stop at this location. However, if you can't get to this one, they have another location in Chesapeake and two in Virginia Beach.

Negative experience: The store rarely has anything new traded in. On multiple occasions I traded in items and they didn't give me any trade credit for and then they would sell it. They have habits of stealing people's items. I would reccommend you try another retro game store.

Negative experience: My PlayStation 4 hard drive was corrupted I bringing my own hard drive that I bought jump drive and everything needed to upgrade just didn't have the capabilities to do it on my own they still try to charge me $248 that is crazy

Fantastic experience: The staff make this place. Whatever minor inconveniences I've experienced (website stock not being up-to-date, personnel not present at register) have been entirely mitigated by some fantastic customer service. They have researched stock for me at different stores without me having to ask and have been so friendly and polite. I may only have a year left in the area, but I'll be damned if I go anywhere else for my games until then.

Fantastic experience: Video Game Heaven (Norfolk) is the most likely place to fine rare games in store compared to the achesapeake, Virginia Beach or Cool Stuff locations. Great store, helpful employees, wide selection. The only downside is some of their rarer titles are overpriced. But being a local game store I can understand they need to charge a little extra to keep the lights on. Definitely check them out if you are in the area!

Positive experience: My friend took me out to this store because they apparently sold some anime figurines because he knows I like them. Going here, the store was really nice, they had a lot of video games, plushies, and figurines. I saw one that I liked in the display case and asked one of the staff up front if they had another box lying around on the shelves and he checked and there were none so I said okay, I’ll take the one in the display case. Now keep in mind, I couldn’t tell by just looking at the display case to inspect if there was anything wrong with it. He took it out of the display case, took it apart, and put it in its original box. I paid and left. Here’s where I got a little bit upset. When I got home, I took it out of its box and started assembling it but noticed that the piece that would normally go into the base plate of the figurine had something in it. Right there I noticed that it was a piece of the figurines little peg from the foot area broken off and stuck into the base. I only paid about $35 so not that big of a deal but honestly, i don’t know if he broke it upon dissembling it or just sold me a slightly broken figurine without notifying me. But all I know is that I’m most likely not going to return back here. It was a nice store but I would definitely check the items you’re about to purchase first.

Fantastic experience: Great place to visit for the old school feel of gaming with new age vibe. Something for everyone, even individual system parts. (Needed a PS2 A/V cord) Very knowledgeable staff with tons of gaming trivia answers.(Need these guys on game night) Store is spaced out to not feel cluttered. Enjoyed my time there. I'll be back!

Fantastic experience: So I am someone who has to give credit when credit is due. Yesterday I had posted a pretty bad review for a situation that had happened. After the review was posted a member of management did reach out to me, pretty fast actually! We were able to come up with a fair resolution for the situation. I honestly appreciate them more than they know because this is my families favorite and go to store! The staff is always very friendly, very knowledgeable and always very helpful! They will always be our #1 go to and we will always recommend them to others! Video game heaven thank you for all that you do!
