Fantastic experience: Great store. It was like I was back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Pure nostalgia. The owner was super patient and knowledgeable as my 9 year old nephew (who’s a retro gamer) kept asking him a bunch of questions. Nephew ended up buying a Sega system and I got my daughter a new Switch game. Was nice that there were new games there too. Everything was also very reasonably priced. Could not have been a better experience. My nephew called it out as a highlight of our Arizona trip.

However, in 100+ degree weather to have your store at 87 degrees (I glanced at the thermostat) is diabolical for the employee and customers The selection was decent, same with prices. There's a vibe in the store but I just wanted to get out to my car, it was so toasty.

However, the staff at the store indicated that the games were not worth what I had found online. Despite some initial hesitation, I chose to trust their assessment and accepted the offer. Later, I reached out to a competing store for a second opinion. They reviewed the same titles, confirmed that my initial valuations were generally accurate, and offered approximately 50% of the market value listed on PriceCharting — particularly noting that I had duplicates of certain items. In contrast, One Up Games' offer amounted to less than 30% of that same valuation. While I understand that trade-in values will vary between stores and may include factors like condition, demand, or store policy, I can’t help but feel that I was underpaid for what I brought in. If you’re considering selling or trading items here, I would advise doing your own market research and seeking multiple quotes. Ultimately, whether the offer I received was fair is up to you to decide.

Positive experience: They had a great and friendly staff. Lots of systems and games. But not a huge selection, I came looking for Nintendo entertainment system games and left feeling sad cause they only had crappy sports games or small titles, nothing like Zelda,Kirby or Metroid. Great little store tho if I was there for anything else it would’ve been nice.

Negative experience: Decide to sell some stuff on here The owner‘s son toyed with me for about a week that he can’t do trades and on the fifth day after going here every day from five days straight, informs me that they are unable to take anything but again kept asking me oh try again tomorrow and again and I’m not taking anything. He’ll be sailing I just cashed out someone today…. we have no money, etc.. I will make sure anyone that decides to come here to buy sell or even visit not too. We have been into collecting the retro games of our childhood and discovering new games- and one up provides us with a great selection to choose from. And as a female I don’t feel judged or treated like I am not welcome, in fact quite the opposite. Every time we have gone in, Nick has been really nice and makes us feel welcome, his customer service skills are top notch. We will definitely keep coming back to add to our collection!

Negative experience: Stopped by this store on a recent trip to AZ. I was in there for maybe 30 mins and almost the entire time I was there, the employees were trash talking people and making fun of them. Pretty shocking behavior for such a nice store with a lot of positive reviews. I left without buying anything as I don’t really want to support negativity. Very disappointed and I hope they do better in the future.

Negative experience: I've been there multiple times to sell games, and the last time I went, there was a kid working and said, "Store credit only." So I took my business to the gaming zone just up the road. Wouldn't recommend 1up games.

The owner, Nick, is very welcoming and his positive attitude will make you feel like you have been friends for life. My favorite part of the store is the flat screen TV right behind the register, advertising ads in which he made that promotes buying, selling, & trading. Positive experience: Very friendly service, but gave it 3 stars since they're on the pricey side compared to other video game stores and their trade-ins are very very cheap.

Negative experience: Do not use their disk repair service Came in with several games specifically asking for a disk buffering service. I didn't realize until I got home, but it just looks like the disks were cleaned really well, not resurfaced. All scratches, even faint ones, were still present on the disk. 3 of the games still couldn't read. Hate to leave a bad review. Staff was friendly, and their classic game selection was decent. I just came in for one reason, and I'm no better off than when I started, but now I'm out 20 bucks.

They have a couple free games the kids can play when they come in. Excellent selection of games for all prior consoles and current as well. He recommended a movie Iron Will. I watched it last night and what a cool dog movie.

Fantastic experience: Mesa's little unknown hidden Treasure!! Neat Place. This is a cool place to support because its not a corporate greed stop. While small still offers a wide variety of games from the classics like Sega to what's out now. DVDs, blu-rays, show seasons, and used game systems among other things here.

Negative experience: Went in yesterday and was interested in several games. All 20 games I looked up prices for were overpriced by 10-20% based on price charting values. Condition was poor for the ones I looked at. I'm not sure why they think they'll get more than buying online including shipping.

While I enjoy the selection of video games and chill atmosphere, it's the two owners that keep me coming back. It's their genuine passion for the store and the video games, it's the fact that they answer the phone with enthusiasm and courtesy. I've been to the other stores and these guys are in it for the love of the games. Wonderful, friendly and very helpful staff. It's one of those independent game stores you want to last forever. If you are a collector, I would encourage you to visit the shop because the prices very reasonable and in many cases, cheaper then other stores and online.

Negative experience: This review is not for 1up games but the third party service they use to repair consoles. DO NOT GET YOUR RETRO CONSOLES SERVICED HERE!! Paid $60 bucks and the servicer claimed the console was fixed and in working condition. Tried playing the console today and it does not work. I’m not pressed over the $60 I just don’t understand why I had to be lied to in the process. Do better please and be honest with your customers if you can’t fix something just say that!!

Fantastic experience: I took 13 PS1 games here to be resurfaced/buffed, and they were super, going thru the games picking the ones out that didn't need resurfacing to save me some money. He even tested them out afterwards to make sure they booted up.

Fantastic experience: Always friendly and great pricing way better than there nearest competitors. It seems some game stores have resulted to pricing off eBay thinking that the nostalgia and instant gratification is what drives their customers. Maybe so but not me and 1UP seems to agree. They are always lower than ebay pricing. Which makes my hour drive to them worth it.
