Positive experience: I’ll keep this review short and simple.. - Will they get the job done? Yes! - Was the turnaround time manageable? Yes, I was quoted 4-7 days NOT including Tuesdays. I received my controller back in 5 days. - Why the 3 stars? Customer service by the tall blonde hair male with the painted nails is the reason. Snarky, rude and no personality whatsoever. One of those establishments where it’s best to keep the convo to a minimum and get in and out.

Fantastic experience: I brought my PS5 in after getting overheating warnings, and the team here did a fantastic job. They did a full teardown, cleaned out all the dust, replaced the liquid metal, and ran stress tests to make sure everything was stable. The console runs smooth now, no fan noise, no overheating, even in demanding games. They were transparent about the process, professional, and kept me updated. Highly recommend them if you need console repairs done right!

Everyone who works here is very knowledgeable, helpful, and polite. Fantastic experience: Took in a gamecube that was struggling to read discs, they diagnosed the problem quickly (capacitor replacement) and two hours later my gamecube was fixed and ready to be picked up. Staff was friendly and professional. The store also has a really good selection of games and consoles, and having a store like this in the area is a blessing. 5/5

Fantastic experience: I'd like to start off and say I've been a semi-frequent customer of this store over the past 10 odd years and I think people should take into consideration how hard it is running a store like this, As most similar simply don't make it, and it truly is the last of it's kind within the North DFW Area. From 2015 to the present I've traded, bought and sold thousands of dollars worth of games and hardware and had numerous systems successfully and professionally repaired. Some of these items bought being some of the most prized parts of my collection, If you are looking for a "Deal" then you need to consider that the days of going to a garage sale and finding 100 SNES games in the box for 1 dollar are long gone, and you shouldn't expect prices below that of eBay. During my long tenure as a customer, I have always been treated in a respectful manner by all the employees I chatted with over the years and especially the owner. I will always cherish the memories of my father driving me over to Plano to check out what cool games FX may have gotten in. To those in the area looking for a game store, this is the place. Long live FX Games and Console Repair!

Positive experience: Was a cool shop, staff didn't seem super eager to walk thru options for console repair/purchase, but I suppose I could have called to save myself the trip.

Negative experience: Collectors should avoid this store at all costs. Terrible inventory and worst all, trying to pass loose games off at CIB prices! For instance, they print out GameCube artwork and throw it in a dvd case to price the game higher. Edit: The owner response to my original review is honestly insane and tells you all need to know. I calmly asked the associate about the deceitful CIB pricing and walked out. No “loud scene” was caused. Maybe instead of blaming customers you should try doing better ?

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience. Took my PS5 in for repair, almost certain I was going to have to buy a new one, and turns out it was just an SSD issue that I hadn't thought to check. The guy was so friendly (sorry I forgot to get your name), and I will 100% be back in. I usually get digital games, but I may switch to physical copies now just so I can go in and give them my business!

Positive experience: After calling multiple GameStop stores looking for a Wii sensor bar needed that day, I finally found them here. Thanks! (I was also appreciative of the selection of cheap-ish Pokémon cards available for a little one accompanying me then, and the vinyl records for a much-older one also)

Fantastic experience: I went here just to get my xbox 360 fixed the guy named Aidan he tested the game console that I had it stop working. Because I had it for 14 years. So he bought out the new Xbox 360 and once he plugged in it works. And the price was $100 which very good price it maybe expensive but still a good price. So yeah the guy Aidan is lifesaver definitely coming back for more. ☺️

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend this place enough. I had an old N64 that wouldn’t turn on. He helped me clean it and diagnose what was happening. He helped me fix it while in store! I’ll be back for all gaming needs!

Negative experience: They fixed my HDMI port but ever since I been having issues with my controller connecting and staying connected. when I turned the PS5 initially the only problem was the HDMI but I believed they damaged something in the process of fixing the HDMI making the Bluetooth not work properly

Fantastic experience: Came in for an OEM expansion pak for my N64 & also bought Virtual Pool as well. The man that helped me was really nice and quick to help me as I approached the counter. They sell lots of retro games. NES, SNES, PlayStation games, Xbox games. They also sell vinyls, CDs, and some Pokemon cards. Cool place. Will be coming back! Toward the back, they have CRT TV's for people that want to play certain consoles. Not sure how it works though. Will have to inquire about it next time.

Negative experience: I going there and they're able to fix my console or controller. They have lot of stuff. But please don't say you fixed console or controller. You need to say you cleaned the console and controller. I watch video on YouTube and cleaned my and know are working. I tried to find a place where they really fixing the console

Positive experience: I needed a power cord for my Playstation to replace the one I lost during my recent move. F/X had one and it was cheap. Their selection of used games includes all the consoles just about and they were affordable as well. You want to sell an older console? F/X can help you there, too. Need repairs? Check. If you're a serious gamer like me, you probably already know F/X but if not, you owe it to yourself to check them out if you are in Plano.

Fantastic experience: This shop is awesome. I walked in with a non-functioning SNES, and they were quickly able to determine the cart reader was just dirty and it would work after cleaning. I went home and cleaned it out, and it's been flawless since. I ended up leaving with a few games and controllers, looking forward to future visits.

Negative experience: not a good place for advanced repairs. explained the issue with my console and was turned away due to them not being able to repair it. Without actually opening up the console, just a simple plug and look. waste of time and gas. (an addition to the comment) I took it to another repair facility that I found which was more professional and didn't look like a old gamestop. They were able to repair my console and did it alot cheaper than you guys quoted. (2nd) I got a quote over the phone from you for a diagnosis and was told that depending on the time it could add up, but you guys would take a look at it. You definitely "only" looked and confirmed what I already knew. If you don't want customers comparing prices get out of the free market and try not giving quotes over the phone before seeing/actually troubleshooting the issue. it was actually a more expensive quote I was giving from another repair facility, but with further diagnostics they were able to repair it with minimal effort. I was told the issue and given a warranty. Like I said more professional. Good luck you guys!

Positive experience: I wish there was closer gaming stores like this one near me! Very friendly people and staff, though I had a rough time getting my Xbox back for an hdmi repair Trey (the owner) managed to cut me some slack and help me on the total price. I can tell he’s a hardworking man and after reading some reviews of others I can tell he puts a lot of passion into this store. Will definitely return if I need some old video games because their selection is wild. Thank you FX

They have an awesome selection of old and new games for every console under the sun, they do disc resurfacing, the staff is always very helpful and the prices are fair, it's really everything you want in a game shop. Positive experience: When I first got here I was a bit disappointed. I saw some things I wanted but the prices were insane. $55 for Mario Galaxy 2? $75 for Metroid Prime 2? That's almost double the value of those games. I ended up picking up a few NES games, an N64 game and an Xbox game that were priced right but then the gentlemen helping me took it upon himself to test all the carts before I purchased them. That's awesome, and I didn't even ask! I don't live in the area so that extra time saved me from getting home hours away and finding a problem. The real win here though is how easy it was to remove the stickers from the games I purchased. Y'all can teach some other stores a lesson on stickers. It takes a torch and copious amounts of alcohol to remove most price tags from GameStop, GameXChange or Found It. To be able to peel these right off with no residue, amazing! 4 stars because of the customer service at this store, bring your prices in line with the market on some of your Nintendo games and it would be a 5 star for sure!

Fantastic experience: Great console repair and general game store. They accept most old discs, consoles, and controllers. The used games still work, and there's a good variety for almost every console. Amazing staff as well! You trade in for store credit, and can show report cards for store credit.

Fantastic experience: Phenomenal local game shop, by nerds for nerds. They've got the latest consoles, but more importantly (for me), they service consoles, controllers, etc. I had a PS5 controller that had started to drift, and they cleaned it up and got it working again! While it's not much cheaper than getting a refurbished one, it's totally worth it to me to avoid being wasteful. They also have a grade reward system, which my kids appreciate, and just generally an excellent shop where I immediately felt at home. I'll definitely be back to browse, and when my controllers inevitably begin to degrade.

Games from all generations at affordable prices, old consoles, respectable trade in prices, and staff that are genuinely interested in helping you find your next game. I went in just to get my controller fixed, but I was pleasantly surprised to find PS3 games I've been searching for. Quality shop, quality people.

Fantastic experience: Don't throw your stuff away. Seriously. This place can repair your busted or drifting controllers of pretty much any age. That'll bring whatever you've got back to life without putting it in a landfill. Very reasonably priced. Great place for used games too!

Fantastic experience: A great little information owned shop that does video game console repair and used console repair sales. They have a vast assortment of used video games including vintage games. And even a small but interesting vinyl records and CDs. One of the funnest shops!

Fantastic experience: I brought in a Gameboy Advance SP with a scratched screen looking for a screen replacement. They told me that it would be difficult due to the screen being laminated. Instead of fixing the original screen they set me up with a upgraded screen that was much brighter as well as a brand new shell. The price for all of this was amazing. They are very knowledgeable!

Positive experience: Their prices are ok- usually reasonable but not always the best- but they ALWAYS have something I can't resist picking up when I go there. They do console repairs and mods as well, but I haven't used those services yet My favorite pick so far was a white-and-red Game Boy Advance with a laminated IPS display and USB-C charging... For only $200! That's better than you can find on Etsy or eBay by a fair bit!

Fantastic experience: Every time that I walk into this place. I get the feeling of nostalgia. See the retro games and consoles are amazing. They have a good selection of games and surprisingly comics! The Staff is helpful and always greets me when I come in. I do recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: Bought a copy of Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion for Xbox 360 from here earlier today. It had the game manual, map, and warranty card. It seems to be in very good condition, and it’s great to see such care taken for old games like that. Popular and current games tend to be above standard retail price, but unpopular games on unpopular systems tend to be fairly cheap. There is also a bargain budget section that has movies when I came in. It seems fake copies are detected and thus not bought, since aside from things that were expensive and still being sold, the most expensive games were for platforms like the GameCube (a currently very popular console). Undoubtedly there’s a better selection from online retailers, but the games available here stand out for often being a bit cheaper and better tested for QA. A lot of games that sold worse at launch but later because classics weren’t available, but the ones that were available weren’t priced outside of expected value (in fact, a bit better than GameStop in many cases). I also saw that they had games for a wide range of systems, controllers, adapters, test hardware, relevant informative materials, etc. A customer was talking about how well a Dreamcast he bought from there worked and how hard it was to find games for it nowadays. There was also another customer picking up a console she had repaired there. Staff was friendly and easy to talk to. They seem to be quite knowledgeable about the topic as well. Store was also well maintained physically, including good lighting and an absence of dust. Every time I come in, I see they are hosting a different gaming competition/event. It’s a bit far from my house, but I’m glad that a specialty store like this exists within biking distance. It adds a lot of value to the neighborhood, especially since a lot of the console publishers tend to not service old hardware. There’s definitely a good amount here for gaming fans, and the surrounding shops make for a nice experience (the traditional physical hobby shop, Starbucks, and Platos Closet are some highlights). If I had one complaint, it would be that it is a bit difficult to reach from the bike path (which is why I don’t go more often), but that’s a problem with unkempt trees and narrow sidewalks and more so a problem with the city’s strange road and street designs.

Fantastic experience: Great little video game shop with more such as vinyl, cds and cassettes. Lots of selections for games, my kids found more in this one shop than multiple shops across the area. And heck, if your kid brings in their latest report card with all A's, they get $10 off the purchase. Heck of a motivation for the gaming kids to focus on school too.

Negative experience: i’m not very experienced with consoles or games, especially older ones or buying them, but i’ve been looking into buying a ds console. i wasn’t sure wether to go through ebay, etsy, etc. i thought it would be easier and more reputable to go into a physical store. online there’s many going for 50-75$, in store i purchased one for 99$, and yes i should’ve checked more thoroughly but being inside the box and assuming they do repairs i thought it would’ve came with everything, a stylus and the bottom gameboy part. it came with neither and also had staining on the casing, i know it’s an older console but for 99$ i expected it to come with everything fully. they didn’t disclose it either. feels like a waste of money and i can’t return it, isn’t covered in the warranty. would’ve much rather taken the chance ordering off ebay or etsy or whatever other site and gotten a more complete console for 20-30$ cheaper. i wouldn’t personally buy any console from here again, they have a good game selection though. maybe if you’re more experienced you’ll be in better luck.

Fantastic experience: Stopped in with some friends after having not so great experiences with the retro stores near us. I’ve been a collector for a long time and used to run a video game store so I’m super picky with what I buy. I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised by the selection they had, they had titles that I hadn’t seen in a long time and are generally hard to come by. I know with retro and vintage gaming it’s a revolving door, but it’s nice to see a store that is able to keep inventory variety that isn’t just sports games. The pricing was fair as well, at or just slightly above market for harder to find titles but nothing crazy. They had a really good selection of manuals, guides and art books as well which was really cool to see and I ended up snagging a few. This store is a bit of a drive for me but I’d rather take the extra time to drive to a store that offers so much vs the local stores who don’t seem to be as knowledgeable, as polite or as consistent with their inventory.

Fantastic experience: I've been in a few times, and all of their staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I've asked about console repair a couple times, and both times they've given me alternative options instead of charging me for repairs I didn't need. Most resale stores have terrible stock, like old SNES sports games and that's it, but they always seem to have good things available for pretty close to current market value. Best game resale shop I've found in a long time!

Negative experience: I went in about a month or so ago to try and sell my old game consoles and video games and after a 25 minute drive I was told by the sales rep that they weren’t doing cash back since the store owner was out of town. I decided to wait for the owner to return and gave them a month before going back this most recent time to try again. I didn’t want the same experience as my last time so I decided to call ahead to confirm (and save myself another 50 min round trip drive, especially with todays gas prices). Luckily when I called I was able to speak directly with store owner (I thought he could for sure give me the information I needed!) I carefully explained to him that I was trying to sell my games and game consoles and that I was not able to the last time I came in since he wasn’t in town. He assured me that they were buying since he was in town this time as well as inform me of his store hours of operation. I got there 2 hours after speaking to him on the phone only for them to tell me that they weren’t buying for cash exchange…After almost a 2 hour trip for both visits to come back empty handed, especially after calling and confirming, you can see why I have frustrations as well as being disappointed in this establishment.

Fantastic experience: This is THE BEST video game store in DFW! I highly reccomend you shop here for repairs/games , whether it be newer games such as xbox one or classic games like the Atari or SNES. The people who work there are stellar too! They are super nice, approachable, organized, and helpful. They test the games too for you, and are super knowledgeable. It's very obvious they care a great deal about their shoppers. Seriously, if you haven't been here you are missing out!

Fantastic experience: (1st visit)Absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable staff here They are easily reachable through chat ChatOn Google maps if they are not in store I had an issue with my PS4 pro. Sony downloaded an update that corrupted my System and I did not have the correct cord to connect to my PS4 and controller to put it in safe mode to be able to install the update from Sony And they helped me install the software that I needed at a decent price Along with a proper Data/power cord ...... (2nd Visit)Do make sure you check the hardware before leaving the store I'm that the technician and the person you drop it off to or on the same page what needs to be done to the equipment you have. But These guys are absolutely professionals of how they do business because they did not make me wait another couple of weeks when there was an issue with one of the works and My PS4 was under warranty that is absolutely awesome love these guys

Fantastic experience: This place is great! I took my Xbox One X here to get fixed. I wasn’t getting any video from my console and was looking for someone to fix it. Normally I would have just bought a new console or used my warranty but my warranty had expired and there are no new consoles to be found anywhere without paying outrageous prices. They are fairly priced and even for a two week turn around they fixed my Xbox quicker than I had expected. It literally runs as if it were brand new. Don’t waste your time anywhere else. They take pride in what they do here.

Fantastic experience: Very good store. Never had an issues with their prices or anything I've purchased. While they don't have the best stock for some of the newer systems games, like Xbox 360/PS3 onwards, what they have is reasonable and obviously they'll be rotating in new stock as they can. If they ever get more of the stuff I'd be looking for in consistently then they'll be near the top of my list while I'm out and about.

Fantastic experience: I always love coming in here. It's morphed into more of a competition game shop but I love seeing the old systems setup and that you can still buy old stuff in the wild. It reminds me of going into a rental place from the 90s and early 20s and I cant help bit feel nostalgic. I don't game as much as I used too but this place was my go too when I did and gave them a lot of money. I truly hope they stay in business for many many years to come.

Fantastic experience: It's one of the highest rated retro game stores in the metroplex for a reason. While it isn't the flashiest store or the largest, I can guarantee everything I buy from here will work right out the door. They are one of the only game stores I know that resurfaces every disc game that comes through their doors. Their prices are fair and tend to match with the current trending market value of games. I am happy to give a local store my business over the Ebay counterpart any day. I have to say that while the customer service experience overall is great, it can vary depending on the front desk staff that day. The main guy (Damien (sp?) ) usually running the front desk is awesome and I look forward to seeing him when I walk in! If the owner sees this - give that man a raise - he is a great people person and very knowledgeable! As a retro game collector, I can never walk out of here without buying a whole bunch of fantastic cheap games.

Fantastic experience: They repaired a broken hdmi for a ps4 I bought on OfferUp. I went ahead and had them switch out the hard drive as well, I supplies the drive. The price was great and the service was quick. Game prices were a bit high compared to other stores like them but not terrible. Their stock is a bit better than most of their competition. When I am in the area I always stop by to see what is in stock.

Fantastic experience: Just moved by this place and went to check it out. Was going to just browse, but ended up walking out with a clean Sega Genesis system. Paid better prices than I’ve seen online, and didn’t have to wait for it to show up at my house. Guy behind counter (I’m bad with names) was knowledgeable, professional and hardworking. He was able to handle 2 different repair requests, check me out and continually answer questions getting thrown at him. I will be back here regularly. Positive experience: I really like this store and the employees seem to know their stuff and they had good customer service. I bought a used Nintendo64 there and we love it. The power supply was bad on it. We brought it in and they happily switched it out for a new one. No problem.

Fantastic experience: Good prices, honest employees, great game selection, and they do console repair. It's not the prettiest shop in town, but decorative lighting and elaborate displays don't make the games play any better when you get them home. The truth is no other used game vendor offers the service, quality control, and rapport that I get with FX Game Exchange. Repairs come back quick and don't cost an arm and a leg. And I've never had any issues making exchanges if I was dissatisfied with the product. I don't always shop there for games and peripherals, but I always check there first because of the consistently good experiences I have there. I basically only go elsewhere if they don't have what I'm looking for.

Fantastic experience: My boyfriend of 7 years and our family are avid "gamers" PC PS4 XBOX to the old school super nintendo, wii, reg Nintendo to even handheld gaming (Sega, Gameboy). Our collection of skylanders is embarrassing but proudly displayed. Not only does FX games recommend THE BEST games for us but also my poor PS4 was on its last leg and Blake the best repair hero man came to our rescue. I will never go to a game stop or any other game store because of their impeccable customer service, recommendation and all around knowledge. For kids to adults this is the place to go to not just support a local business but to support subject matter experts. I have spent way too long talking to everyone here asking so many questions they are so patient. My daughter loves games now and you know how important technology competence will be in the coming era. They have great tournaments, they even offer good grade discounts to help the community. Just a great bunch of people. Don't waste time going anywhere else. This is my only place I will go to for repairs, gaming and just plain entertainment and browsing. My daughter loves the Pacman game all their arcade games are free. They have created a safe space for our children and an awesome place for the community. Fantastic experience: The best retro gaming store around. They do everything from rare game sales to console repair, and they host the most amazing weekly Super Smash Bros tournaments. Always highly professional and extremely knowledgeable. You can set your worries aside if you shop here.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome and the staff there is very friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable about all consoles. I prefer this place way over any other video game store since most of the others have an unhelpful staff and hardly anything worth buying since their stuff is not in good condition or overpriced or both. The dreamcast console i purchased from this Game Exchange was reasonably priced since it was reconditioned and the games I bought had been resurfaced by them. Apparently they resurface all of their games so that they look and play like new which is very awesome. I look forward to going back in the future.

Fantastic experience: Got trapped in a hail storm and ran into this random game store. They were cool enough to let me hang out while the storm blew over. They had really cool games and all sorts of stuff for me to look at while I waited. It ended up being a crazy fun time and I picked up some old school Pokemon games! Fantastic experience: I don't even visit other game stores anymore. I have been going to FX for years and have had tremendous success finding old stuff that I was looking for, getting my consoles repaired, discs resurfaced, and attending a few tournaments. I have ALWAYS been very happy with the help in the store. Trey has always treated me great and taken great care of my boys. I'm there once a week at least and will continue that trend into the foreseeable future. Best shop around, PERIOD!
