Negative experience: I truly don't know how this place has grown to what it is. People must enjoy overpaying for garbage. I picked up a game for my 6 year old today and we got home and the disc looks like it's been thrown across a parking lot.

Fantastic experience: An exceptionally nice game store! They gave me fair trade in credit when I visited. Lots of affordable games and accessories. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful which isn't as common as I'd like, so that is appreciated! I'll definitely return!

Negative experience: Really small store with great selection yes but the employees extremely rude and gossiping the whole time about customers and how they call them by cigarette brand names based off how they smell and making rude comments about my weight as I was looking around the shop. Mind you I could hear them from the back of the shop where I was looking do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Incredibly fair prices, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and an amazing selection! Their disk resurfacer is amazing! They were very honest about the chance of success with my particular disk but were still able to fix up my copy of Twilight Princess and it runs perfectly! Seriously amazing store, all three locations rule!

They buy all kinds of video game collectables (trust me they buy A LOT they bought my fallout 76 power armor helm edition). They are always very friendly always down to just sit and chat games. And will ALWAYS give you the best deal within their power. If you want the best prices with the absolutely best customer service come here these guys are awesome.

I recently bought a GBA and the person made sure the on/off switch wasn't too fiddly (a problem that can happen with these systems) and also double checked the game I bought with it. It's a small thing, but those are the things that add up, right? Definitely check this place out.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at play it clintonville last night. First of all i called ahead to see what i could get for a ps4 slim for trade in, whoever i spoke to mentioned that there has been an influx of trade ins but nothing about not taking any right now. So when i arrive to sell my console and i immediately get told they’re not taking them right now it was a little annoying considering i drove almost 30 minutes but whatever i can understand why it would’ve just been nice to have better communication. My major problem came next up. I was trading in a vita, the man who was there proceeds to turn on the system, saw that it stick drifted for a half second and said oh i can’t take this sorry. So my fiancee and i go back out to our car and i turn it back on just to see if it was seriously drifting and it was fine. My fiancee was very upset and wanted to go talk to the man in there about it. So she went in to try to talk to the person in there and show them it wasn’t drifting anymore and he just said i don’t want it after that sorry, wasn’t even willing to mess around to see if it would persist I didn’t think about this until later last night but what really bothered me about that aside from just being rude is I know for a fact this store takes switch trade ins, and switches are so notorious for stick drift that there has been actual class law suits against it, and I bet you some of their other consoles and handhelds will have that drift so i’m not sure why the quick judgement maybe I just shouldn’t have charged it up. It’s just very hypocritical and you could’ve at least given it another chance to shut me up I have no issues with the polaris or hilliard locations but after this experience i might just take my future business elsewhere. It costs nothing just to be a little bit nicer

Fantastic experience: This is a super cool store. I feel like every time I come in here they have new things to look at. They got some cool and weird guys working there (the good weird). Vibes are great, and I’ve constantly been hooked up with a $10 voucher when discs don’t work and I’ve had to come back in. It says a lot! I also love the fact they hold games for you when you call and ask if they have it. Trust me, not all places do that. Also, shoutout the record selection as well. This is a great touch and they have so many good new records to pick up as well. Overall just an excellently ran game store that I will often come back to.

Fantastic experience: "Play It!" provided an exceptional experience for my 11 year old son. He had saved his own money to buy a gaming console and called several stores. While others couldn't help within his budget, "Play It!" went above and beyond. The staff member on the phone was incredibly patient and kind, and they generously offered a lower price on a higher-priced console to make it affordable for him. When we visited the store, they were even more amazing and surprised him with a free game! This level of kindness and generosity truly made his day and created a lasting positive memory. We are so grateful for the wonderful staff at "Play It!"

I'm building a physical media library, and I added some Disney classes to it but couldn't find either pocahontas or maybe it was beauty and the beast on Blu-ray at this particular location. I can't remember which movie it was, but that doesn't reflect poorly on the High St location because I found others that I wanted.

Fantastic experience: Very wide range of cds, records, movies/shows (dvds), and games for all consoles including one of the widest ranges for genesis and game gear (yes I'm one of them) around. Also have thibgs like atari, nes, some master system, gameboy, etc. A lot for older console stuff is hit or miss (to be expected) like one day I went in and they didn't have an n64 expansion pak but then i went in a week later and they did. So this makes it fun to go in pretty frequently and just check out what they got in recently. I wish they had a rental programme but I also know that's another thing to manage. All in all I recommend. The only thing that sucks is the parking situation but there's also street parking.

Negative experience: A bunch of overpriced games and worst then GameStop. It’s not worth the time. And the people there were rude. Save your $$$ and go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: They carry a wide range of games and systems at competable prices. They have vinyls, they have old systems like Gameboys all of them. They have Sega systems and atari. They have video games metal advertisement plates. They have figurines, they have literally anything you want for video games, computer programs, I think I saw some comic books and amine stuff as well. This is my go-to place.

Fantastic experience: Recently visited the new location. Organized well-presenting. Clean. We visit fairly regularly to check inventory and always have a good experience. Even if we don’t find what we were specifically looking for, it’s a fun place to browse. Sometimes we find a treasure we didn’t know we wanted ;) one thing I do wish they’d get more of are action figures. I always tell folks about this place and I’m surprised they don’t already know about it. It’s a place worth visiting for sure.

If you are looking for old games, you'll be in good hands here. This company has been in business for a long time. I've been a customer since the late 90s. They can allow you to test items before you buy, but they also offer a limited return policy. You can trust what you get here to be honored and trustworthy. Since you can sell or trade items, their inventory changes regularly. So if you don't see it, you can ask to be put on a wait list for when someone comes in to trade one. There's also other locations that can pull their inventory to be sent to the store closest to you. If you happen to find the items elsewhere, they can take your name off the wait list as well. If you're a collector of retro games, seeking cds or movies, or just curious... stop by and see this store. It's a fun store to find video games and consoles.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love all three locations! I've been a regular for quite some time now. It all started when I was going through a rough time in my life and had to sell off a lot of my games....I found Play It and so glad I did. They gave me good deals on my trades and treated me with kindness and respect every time. I'm a huge Pokemon fan and continue to go back collecting games regularly now. They even let me know when they have an item I am looking for is in stock! The team truly cares about the customers and are rockstars!

Positive experience: Far cleaner than their lewis center location to be sure. Games are priced high (likely they just check ebay for listings) not considering the condition or age of the item.

Fantastic experience: You can't beat Play It. Super fair trade in offers, tons of amazing inventory, knowledgeable and helpful staff, the owners are passionate and kind people. It is truly a gem. I hadn't been in 5 years and you can tell that they've kept those values because the growth of the store continues while maintaining that nostalgic local game store feel.

Fantastic experience: I stopped in for the first time on 2/20. It is a great store with a wide selection. Customer service is excellent! I had a question about which games were compatible with my Xbox and was taken care of. One of the two games was on sale so I was happy to find out at the register that I was saving a bit of money. Stop in and take a look around. You most likely will leave with something and will be happy you stopped in!

Positive experience: Love the store but I have had some issues with games & dvds being scratched & not playing & since I don’t drive or live near any of the store locations it is hard for me to find a ride to return items if they don’t work.

Positive experience: Very well inventory, lots of selection, competitive price, and most important is very good service -- great place to be for older systems and games.

Negative experience: So my initial review of this location was 3 star because originally despite the few hiccups when it comes to finding things, I usually always leave with what I want. But after my most recent visit, I'm afraid it's going to have to be reduced to 1-star. I only bought on dvd on my last visit that consisted of two discs. Now the employee did check the discs to see if they were in good condition and even cleaned them for me before ringing me out. And this is partly my fault because 1.) I usually double check discs on used media while in store anyway. and 2.) I don't usually watch the media I purchase at home right away. But about a week later, I go to finally watch this dvd and I discover that the disc doesn't match the tag description or what's on the case. In short, it was the wrong movie inside the case; to make matters worse, the second disc inside the case was the wrong movie as well. Now I feel that if you have time to check the discs for condition, you should be able to check the discs to make sure their actually the correct item that corresponds to what's on the case. And as upset as I am about this, especially because this isn't the first time I've had an issue at this location, I take this as a lesson learned. I will just cut my losses and not patronize this particular location anymore. This situation combined with the nonchalant attitudes and disregard I feel from majority of the staff (the owner Chris is great though) is enough for me to not give this location anymore of my money. I used to really make a big fuss over mistakes made by employees trained to do their job but this is just a lesson learned for me.

Fantastic experience: A breath taking store. One of the if not the best collection of retro games in the Columbus area. Amazing selection of vinyl, and movies as well. I would live at the store if I could.

Positive experience: Great selection, cool store, nice staff. If you have lot's of money to blow you will absolutely find something. Great DVD selection too. Recently game prices are way too high and volatile for the basic common titles. Shop around other places before you buy here, you will most likely find a better deal somewhere else and in reverse sometimes they have the best deal but that seems to going away. Bought Mercenaries 2 there and it didn't work, it was in the "as is" section but I assumed it would at least play if it was for sale. My mistake. However, I've bought like 30 games from them over the years with no issues. Of course trading in stuff is scammy like game stop, they don't tell you what stuff is individually worth they just lump it all together and hope you don't ask questions, but that's typical. Worth a visit if you collect, it's like a museum.

Negative experience: I don’t understand how a place can advertise they take in used games and movies but when I go in I get immediately told they aren’t accepting dvds. I also tried giving a game set here before and pretty much got laughed at and told they won’t sell it there and to just put it in the free bin. Even though I saw the exact set up behind them for sale. I get you get a lot of peoples used things but the rudeness of the people in the store is pretty annoying

Positive experience: Definitely can find some amazing throwbacks at decent prices but still haven't found what I've wanted. Staff stays to themselves at the register so you are left to your own devices with signs that are inaccurately guide you.

Positive experience: Good selection of games for all consoles, pricing is reasonable depending on what you're looking for. 3 star rating is because I've purchased ps2 controllers here twice, both times have had to return them because they were both defective. I understand the condition of used controllers can be low, but if you are selling them for a premium price of $35 each, they should be tested and working properly. Great place to pick up games, but be careful buying your consoles and controllers here.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Play it! for all of my retro gaming needs for the past 10+ years. The staff never fails to be incredibly helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Their prices are always fair for both trade ins and purchases, plus they offer deals every day of the week posted to their Facebook page. The clintonville location is stocked to the brim and I can’t help but find something new every time I stop in. A couple of the employees run a Modding service and I recently purchased this beautiful GBA from them, as well as an original gameboy about a year ago. Ramon went above & beyond to give me the best product I could ask for. They are my favorite pieces in my collection and I plan to get more in the future. Thank you Play It!! Y’all are the best around!

Fantastic experience: I usually have a wonderful time at this store but I did have my first semi negative experience today that I'd like to share. I bought a copy of Pokemon Ruby for the Gameboy Advance from another Play IT! Location, and the battery was drained. No big deal, I thought I'd get it fixed at another location. Even though I bought it on the same day I needed the battery fixed, they still charged me to fix it. I feel a little robbed that I had to pay for a battery change when they sold me a game with a drained battery. Edit: My games making a rattling sound after the battery was replaced. Will be going back next week for them to open it up and make sure it's alright. (Hope they don't charge me for that;) (Edit: Update. I went in and they fixed the problem and gave me a heavy discount as a sorry. I'm back to having only good experiences at this business)

Fantastic experience: I had a very pleasant experience coming here, the two ladies working were kind, respectful, and very knowledgeable. This shop has it all, great deals, specials, console packages that are worth checking out. Fair and honest pricing on trades will have me come back for sure.

Negative experience: This place Is the worst I bought a Sega genesis from it was broken so I return it only to be told I couldn't have my money back and was forced to take a gift card to a store that is filthy and most of their products don't work I won't be buying anything else from them. Also the gift is for sale if anyone is interested.

Fantastic experience: I thought I'd have to run around town looking for an arcade stick, but this store had a few options from Retro to modern. Honestly if you're looking for harder to find video games/accessories, this store should be the first place to look.

Fantastic experience: This place was awesome. I love the feel, vibe whatever you want to call it. I saw games that I hadn't seen in decades. They had a great selection of video games (retro and current) and cards, movies, gaming consoles, etc... The folks were nice and they even had a clearance section of video games of which I took advantage of. Places like this should be more abundant. I'm not from Ohio but if I come back here again I will definitely visit the stores (as of this review they have 3). I'm glad I visited.

They always have hard to find items-- when a pre-order I wanted was sold out online, the shop was able to get it in for me on release date and set one aside for me. Super friendly folk! I love getting lost in all the vintage games when I come in!

Positive experience: Really interesting selection, but the actual store was a disorganized mess. It was impossible to see the prices of display case items, everything was thrown around seemingly at random, and it just generally felt unclean. Thankfully, the staff were very friendly and were ready and willing to help me with looking at items. I'm going to come back to see if anything interesting is available, but I'm trepidations about the store's overall atmosphere.
