Resurrected Movies, Video Games & More: Reviews
Negative experience: The only good thing about this place is that they’ve got a big selection (for a REASON!!!) they were SUPER OVERPRICED!!! I saw a 40 dollar game go for almost 100 there. I don’t recommend going unless they start lowering the prices.
Positive experience: A great selection marred by no protection from the sun and insane pricing.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing place to buy whatever you need. Service was great there. Has a younger tall gentleman help me and he was very knowledgeable and kind. I give this place a 10/10 and 100% recommend coming here
Negative experience: Its just a bad experience overall. Place is MESSY. MESSY. MESSY. Employees dont care and are indifferent to you when you walk in. The prices are ridiculous. Extremely over priced, way above market value. And pokemon selection singles is minimal. Never going again
Fantastic experience: Best place in the city, hands down
Negative experience: The one time I bothered to go to the store I was racially profiled and was watched intensely the entire time I was there. Everything is overpriced, dirty, sun-damaged, and just generally not inviting. Go to literally any other game store in Austin like Game Over or PixelHaven.
Positive experience: Bad Experiences!
Negative experience: Go anywhere else but here.
Negative experience: Wanted to find a place to play Yugioh near campus but I had to call to find out when tournaments are because they dont post anything online. They warned me on the phone about issues having enough people for tournaments but I decided to go anyway and at the very least look at around. Store has tons of cool stuff and at least the Yugioh product seemed to be priced decently. When I walked in I wasn't greeted by anybody and there was nobody behind the counter just a guy sitting in the back of the store on his phone kinda staring at me. There obviously wasn't enough people for a tournament so I thought I would look around. Eventually I found some stuff I was interested in, but I was never approached by anybody even though I stood near the counter for a little while. I also didnt feel like asking a few random people if they worked there. Overall the store just seemed like a wasted opportunity. It's in a good area and while it is small it was definitely usable. It felt cramped partly because it was just really messy and unorganized. It just seems like the people running the store dont care. Would not recommend.
Negative experience: Cool..but becareful some games maybe broken
Negative experience: Terrible place to buy pokemon cards. Everything is 100% scalped and selling for 3x MRSP, and 2x market. Way better places to go to for pokemon TCG,such as Card Traders of Austin, Pixelhaven, as these places sell cards for fair market price and also lots of product at MRSP or just a few dollars above. Check out these places and avoid this place
Negative experience: Overpriced items and unhelpful/uncaring employees made for a disappointing experience. Personally, I had a much better experience shopping at Pixelhaven and Game Over Video Games. That said, I'm giving two stars because the store does have a nostalgic vibe, which makes it worth a quick look if you’re strolling down Guadalupe Street.
Negative experience: Lowballs trade-ins and overcharges for everythinf from commons to max rarity.
Negative experience: Everything for sale in the stores windows is sun bleached, but the prices are non-negotiable. There are many large pokemon bundles, but so few single card packs. Inventory could use some restocking as there really wasn't much available.
Positive experience: It was ok. Big selection of games. But a lot of them are getting UV damage from the bright sunny window and fading like crazy. And they are pretty expensive. But they did have a wide range of games that people will enjoy.
Negative experience: More then double the price for a Pokémon 151 pack ($20) then anywhere else. Never going here again.
Negative experience: vibes are weird and bad
Negative experience: 30 dollars for two dirty Wii nunchucks. Nothing in the store has been cleaned or tested. Shop here if you like wasting money.
Positive experience: We went to the shop because my buddy was interested in looking for some cool magic cards. Sadly though when we came through they were having AC issues so everything was kind of all over the place but the owner / worker who work there was still very friendly with us and patient with us. Even though they were dealing with all this heat. They have so many things retro video games different amounts of cards different consoles video games, pops and so much more. Overall this place is awesome would go again.
Negative experience: I've been to this place many times over the past 11 years. They used to have another location. Troy, the owner, is very jaded and unenthusiastic. Instead of employing staff who know how to run an LGS, he has his son man the storefront most of the time. This makes the customer experience suffer. The vibe is depressed because neither of them want to be there. Tournaments here have been lacking participation in recent years. Annoyed by the lack of effort on the part of the owner, a friend of mine named Josh has established his own store called PixelHaven. It's been up for a couple years and its tournaments are regularly filled to max capacity for Pokemon and yu-gi-oh. PixelHaven is what RRG should have been for years. PixelHaven even has a big screen kiosk by the counter where you can search the store's inventory digitally and place an order to pick up immediately beside it. PixelHaven puts in effort. They sort all of their cards and input each one into their system so the customers don't need to look through mountains of card binders.
Positive experience: The place is solid but the Pokémon prices are wild. But I do love their physical media
Negative experience: This place is a laughing stock of what a local game and card shop should be. They price their card products at like 2x to 3x (even 4x) above either MSRP or market. They are really pricing themselves out of customers here and I would rather drive across town to another shop than this place. For being the closest shop to me I held out hope that maybe I could make this place my regular spot to go to but their prices make me never even want to go in again.
Negative experience: I contacted the store to see how much they would charge for Gundam card game boxes, and they said they "don't know yet." Not sure how you don't know what you are charging for a product, unless you are waiting for market prices to spike so you can charge as much as possible
Negative experience: This place is everything wrong with the current state of Poke’mon. Gauging prices like no other. Truly ridiculous when you can get all these products on TCG for cheaper even with shipping costs. You’d think a local shop would want to support local collectors, not bankrupt them.
Negative experience: Not a single thing MSRP in the whole store. Also they buy cards at lowball prices. Staff is very kind and helpful though.
Positive experience: It's a small store with LOTS of games and gaming supplies. You might find what you're looking for in there but you're gonna have to really look!
Negative experience: Resurrected doesn't have their own parking so I parked at the FedEx next door. That was mistake, I got a boot put on my car in the 10 minutes that I was in here. The store itself can only seat 20 people and you would be sitting extremely close to all of them. Their prices are a bit higher than other stores in the area, probably due to the location. I've been to this store twice now and both times, no one greets you when you walk in or asks if you need help with anything (like if I were maybe trying to buy something). The vibe overall is very cliquey not very welcoming. I really hate leaving bad reviews but the negatives are really outweighing the positives here. Sorry Resurrected. Edited to downgrade to 1 star in June ‘25 as they claim to not receive promos for magic the gathering events while being listed as a WPN store. How is this place still in business? lol
Negative experience: Eli is extremely lazy and obviously doesn’t enjoy his job. They are selling products for over 40% market… and when I asked about it he says “We have to buy at market so that’s why it’s high”. They have cool product but they try to scam and squeeze every last penny out of you. PixelHaven or Banditos is the way to go. Stay away from this store.
Negative experience: Don’t go if you want pokemon or any tcg, overpriced for no reason might as well order everything online ,plus the workers are there for no reason …
Negative experience: Store that has a lot of choice but way above market (10$ + tax for each recent regular Pokémon booster pack, 15$ + tax for 151 and 20$ + tax for Prismatic Evolutions). Not to mention there was a man sleeping on the chairs next to the playing tables in the back of the store
Negative experience: I reached out about a game not working that I got off Amazon and was met with immediate hostility and told I was lying. Mind you the game was a 15$ Xbox 360 game. Like I’m trying to scam them out of 15$ when all I wanted was a working game. I’ve since found that same game for 6$ at a local store so I’m sending them their copy back and I will never have to deal with this awful company again.
Negative experience: Trust the reviews. Everything is over priced. I assume they get away with it since some people can't drive to other better stores. If you have a choice, go somewhere else. You aren't missing much :0
Negative experience: Associate Eli is the laziest employee I’ve ever seen. Asked him to open case to look at a game said only if I was going to buy. Left the store and called to ask if they had a game in stock that I had just seen in the store not 5 minutes before. Was told didn’t have it without a hesitation. Would give 0 stars if I could. Everything is also way over priced even by retro standards. 90 for a game that I have seen at other shops in Austin for 40-50. Even dk oldies sold it for 60 for Pokémon red rescue.
Negative experience: I have tried to give this place a fair chance and I’m just done going here. Prices are all well above market, you can find everything cheaper at other stores in the area or online. They are randomly closed during business hours with a “be right back” sign on the door. One time a guy showed me a binder of vintage, then the next time I came in a different employee acted like he had no idea what I was talking about, saying, “I wouldn’t know where that binder is.” How do you work somewhere and not even know where your inventory is located? This used to be a fun place to source singles and buy a booster pack or two but I’ve just had enough frustration to ever consider it again.
Fantastic experience: Lots of cards and old games
Negative experience: awful store with scummy practices/pricing, poor customer service, and just overall not a good place to shop. takes advantage of walking folk who can’t drive to a better store like pixelhaven or card kastle
Fantastic experience: Great game selection
Fantastic experience: Great Cardshop and Retro Video Game store, owner is super helpful and friendly and offers a rewards points system for in store purchases. I have shopped here for a year for MTG products and have gotten incredbile hits. definitely a great card shop if you live in central austin for MTG, and Yugioh.
Negative experience: Their reputation around town is on par with the reviews for the shop. For TCGs you can go to Bandito's or Pixel Haven for insanely friendly staff and good people along with closer to market pricing. For games you can just go to Game Over on W Anderson. Not only is the location bad for Resurrected, nothing about it even warrants looking for parking. It's clear the horrible prices are just to keep paying rent in a central location. No thanks.
Positive experience: Like entering a video game hoarder's basement, it is packed to the brim with video games and ancillary content. And just as cramped and cluttered and dirty and filled with boxes. They have some rarities, but you're gonna be paying full pricing for anything you find. Though if you're looking for it, they probably have it.
Negative experience: The staff are all super nice and helpful. However, the prices are high. Kind of sad. Could be a really cool place. Missing out on dozens of future sales and a loyal customer base just to squeeze every last cent out of you on one.
Negative experience: Manager lied about how much my Zelda complete in box for 64 was, stating it was sold from $60 “all day” on eBay. Maybe the game is but complete in box it sells from $180 “all day” He complained about someone stealing from him using a backpack. He must hate competition because he stole from me using lies. I won’t return and would encourage everyone to head my warning.
Fantastic experience: I bought a copy of Twilight Princess (WiiU) and when I got home and put it in it didn’t work! I live hours away from Austin so I thought I was cooked. I was able to mail it back and get a working replacement copy easily. Good business
Negative experience: Terrible experience. Poorly run yugioh tournament, rude workers and unsanitary space. I thought what everyone said about this place was exaggerated but my experience today was awful and I will not be returning.
Positive experience: The filth is crazy...
Positive experience: Was a sweet store but unfortunately very very messy and the prices were EXTREMELY HIGH. Many games that should’ve been 10$ were 25$ ect
Fantastic experience: Best place there is
Negative experience: The customer service was very poor. I was never greeted by either employee, both of them just sitting down looking at their phones. The prices were outrageous. They are charging at least double what the cost of any game actually goes for. There are several other places in Austin to get your video games at a much more reasonable price. The store was cramped and cluttered. Hundreds of boxes and movies just lined the stores, making it very difficult to walk around and actually look at the items.
Negative experience: Checked out Resurrected the other night when a friend brought it to my attention. Overall, my experience was pretty awful. The employee on duty didn't say a word to me or even look up from his Highlander reruns played at an obnoxious volume. Why are so many of the game boxes sun damaged? There are a ton of boxed DS games and the majority appear to have faded art work like they were left in the sun for too long. I noticed this problem with other games on other systems as well. Several items arbitrarily had no price tags (the boxed Genesis games in particular). Pricing on games was very inconsistent with what I've seen at other used game stores or online—and not in a good way. I left feeling that I'd wasted my time checking out Resurrected and feeling a bit disappointed that whoever takes all those games home will likely be paying more than they should and putting up with a bad shopping experience for the privilege.
Negative experience: Prices were very high and the employee working was watching a movie and never spoke to us even when we said hello.
Positive experience: Friendly staff and an interesting selection. Was my first time in and has some other stuff to get to so not much time, but I definitely want to go back and dig around more.
Fantastic experience: Definitely the best place for any card collection collectors looking for good selection on many things!
Negative experience: Games were widely overpriced, labels and boxes of the videogames were heavily damaged by the sun. None of the games have their prices visible, so good luck on having someone to help you with that.
Negative experience: Bought a card from their TCG site that I anticipated value in on 3/5/24. Resurrected took 2 days to work the order and the $30 card I bought spiked to $90 within that time. First time in years buying from TCG I've been refunded for a brief explanation that read verbatim, "inventory issue." Thanks for the refund, but you shoulda tripled it. Check out the price history on the MTG card Trickbind
Negative experience: I understand that there's only one person there but having to wait for an extended amount of time to get a book from the top shelf and to get a price for two amiibo (they priced it triple compared to online sellers) was ridiculous. Will not be coming back.
Positive experience: Great selection of new and old games. Something for pretty much every console or handheld. Prices hard to see on the items without having an employee open the display case and prices are a bit higher than average. Overall a great place and I will return the next time I am in town.
Negative experience: My experience at the collectibles card shop left me disappointed due to the exorbitant prices on items. The manager’s reluctance to negotiate competitive prices was frustrating, and his occasional rudeness when asked questions added to the overall unpleasant experience. I expected a more customer-friendly approach, especially when dealing with such pricey collectibles. I would definitely avoid this shop. There are wayyy better places around town.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic service, decently priced games and consoles. Go here.
Fantastic experience: Great place to buy all card games and some sports cards. Troy and Eli are always helpful when Im there. They also buy single cards a a fair price.
Negative experience: too greedy
Fantastic experience: Zed
Fantastic experience: I love the vibe of the store. The staff is very nice and they make sure that their products work.
Fantastic experience: Great place always has something new to see you. Awesome selection of video games from all genres and platforms and the board games in card. Games are on the way high selection as well.
Fantastic experience: 10/10 would talk to autistic clerk again
Fantastic experience: Neat nostalgia store, regular/expected prices but cool collectibles, something to find for almost everyone to leave with at least one thing. All kinds of gaming, pop culture, and more! Even had a working duel terminal cabinet with cards, got one I wanted to :) great part of my day trip
Negative experience: Went to this store recently in search of vintage games or gameboys to mod.. while they have a cool selection the prices were a bit up there. Employees were nice. However, for those looking to rekindle there vintage gaming love know you're paying 50-70% above market value.
Fantastic experience: My favorite family business in Austin
Fantastic experience: It is good for selling games
Positive experience: Great place for used games, they base their prices off of trending numbers, so check ebay beforehand and then check with the store. Very nice employee there!
Negative experience: Went in to check their retro games. The guy working didn’t even acknowledge my existence while he worked on buying a Switch from someone who was very very strung out. Impressive collection of games but almost everything in the main case has a faded box due to the sun.
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff my friend found a card he was looking for a long time here, lots of other cool knick-knacks as well!
Fantastic experience: Awesome card shop
Fantastic experience: This store has a huge assortment of products for different card games and vintage games. Went there to look at Yu-Gi-Oh stuff for my son and could have stayed for a long time just to browse. Can't wait to take him there. The guy behind the counter was very helpful.
Negative experience: The best feature of the shop is the vast selection with various collectibles, board games, and TCGs available though the play space leaves a little to be desired in the prices aren't as competitive as consumers would like both in terms of online competition and other storefronts
Negative experience: RESEALED PRODUCT. I wouldn’t trust this store with any TCG product. I bought a booster box of Brilliant Stars on in store promotion and noticed the box was a bit scuffed. I asked if the boxes are resealed and weighed, I was told the box was not. I opened my box and I noticed, too late, the wrapper had bubbles on it and has most likely been heat treated. Also their promotion and point system doesn’t work over half the time and they don’t know how to troubleshoot. They don’t honor their deals either.
Negative experience: Worst customer service of my life
Negative experience: Drove 45 minutes to be told we can't look at singles unless there is 2 or more employees. Lol Employee didn't look at us one time while we spoke to him just continued playing his game. This shop needs new employees and way better parking. What a waste of time.
Fantastic experience: Great spot to play Yugioh on weekends. They also sell other stuff like used games, movies magic cards, pokemon cards, and they are pretty good about pricing.
Fantastic experience: Good selection for the throwbacks
Fantastic experience: So far, after a few visits, we are BEYOND pleased with the service and nostalgia offered at Resurect games. We've bought accessories and games for our Wii and at a different visit a whole Xbox 360 with some games my girlfriend and I both played over a decade ago. We're excited to spend some time enjoying these games and can't thank the employee Eli enough for being thorough checking the quality and giving maintenance to said games and system before selling it to us. They have a warranty system, which is great and the store is fun to even just stop in and look around overall so we DEFINATELY would recommend Resurect games to any of our friends and family.
Fantastic experience: Idk why everybody is so mad this store is awesome. Super cheap to enter yugioh tournaments and their tcg store is so big you can basically get any card you want on request without waiting or paying for shipping so its always faster and cheaper. 100% recommend it to all my gamer friends and duelists ive been there like at least once a week since i discovered it and yeah the owner is kind of a quiet dude but i dont think hes rude by any stretch. Theyre very kind and inclusive and in my experience they always try to find you the cheapest copy of the card you ask for. Great store and super cool its a family business.
Negative experience: I don't typically write reviews but its rare for me to leave a card shop of all places this irritated. This guy will overcharge you for EVERY card you buy by overestimating the condition and ALWAYS rounding up. Even if its only $0.53, he's gonna charge you a full dollar. In small amounts that's not a big deal but when buying a bunch of cheap cards you end up severely overplaying. They have no interest in hearing you out over visible damage on cards and continually price them as if theyre NM and LP when they're not.
Negative experience: Scummy store owner. Overcharges on product and sells reproductions that are not labeled. Will lie to people trading in singles of tcg about market prices and then sell way over market. Do not shop here
Negative experience: Called to get a price quote on an item. They had it for 50$ over MSRP but that was still a fine price. Showed up with that much cash on release day to be told it’s now 100$ over MSRP and they won’t be honoring the price they quoted me. Drove 30 minutes to get scammed. Didn’t buy and won’t be back
Negative experience: I urge anybody who is thinking of going here to buy video games to please look elsewhere. For one, they sell repros. Now personally, I don't mind if game stores sell repros. As long as they are clearly labeled as being fake, and are sold for a cheap price. This store does not do either of those things. Instead what they do is sell repos for as much as legit counterparts. The kicker is that the people working there are fully aware of which games are fake and real, but don't seem to care to let any customers know or at least label the faked games in some way. Luckily I'm somewhat experienced at spotting fake games. Unfortunately I bought a game there that was a repro. I didn't realize it was fake until I was in my car looking at it. So I went back in to tell them, all the while trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because I know people make mistakes sometimes. But when I talked to a worker there, he already knew it was a fake. But they did have two other copies of the same game, so they let me swap it out for a real one. I would give them credit for that, but since they were already aware they were selling repros, I can't even give them that. Secondly, everything in the store is wildly overpriced. I've seen other reviews saying that GameStop has better prices, and they're 100% right. Thirdly, the store is just very unorganized. Most games don't have labeled prices, and when you ask them what something is going for they look it up online (I'm assuming they look at eBay prices). Plus a lot of the games are on the wall behind the register, so you can't even get a good like at them. In my four years of collecting video games, I have never had a bad experience at a video game store... until now.
Positive experience: Cramped but great selection
Negative experience: Didn’t receive any help.everything overpriced.
Fantastic experience: I am reviewing as a seller - I sold 6 ps2/ps1 games here and walked out with 100 bucks. This is the place to come to sell games. I got absolutely ripped off at Game Over, which unfortunately have multiple locations.
Fantastic experience: Pack wars (on occasion), in store shopping, friendly staff, with VERY competitive prices, i am guaranteed to come here again and again and unreasonably spend copious amounts of my money here.
Negative experience: Some of the worst customer service I've had in a long time.
Fantastic experience: I took in a crate full of games I found and made $153 cash, great store.
Positive experience: Get ready to empty your wallet. A lot of the games in here can be found cheaper on eBay. Gave it three stars because the staff was nice.
Fantastic experience: I ordered a few Magic The Gathering cards from them. Unfortunately the cards were lost in the mail. However, Resurrected Games was kind enough to mail me replacements - amazing service and I will be buying from them again!
Negative experience: Doesn’t honor sticker price of games, don’t bother even looking at the sticker, they’re going to look up every game you want to buy on eBay or whatever and make you an offer. Besides that annoying (and I’m pretty sure illegal) practice, decent selection, really bad value.
Negative experience: Took a lyft there specifically to shop for blu-rays. They have them all behind the counter and impossible to browse. I wasted money on the lyft and they left st money since I went there to buy.
Negative experience: WORST SHOP EVER!!!! The owner is very rude doesn’t allow people to look at singles during the weekdays. He always low balls you if trying to sell something and the over price everything especially on YUgioh tins selling them for double the price when they first come out. Playpackets is so much better
Positive experience: Ordered a game off of Amazon that was coming out of this store, unfortunately the 2 copies they had were sold before they could fulfill my order. They were very prompt in letting me know and offered alternatives to find the game. Very professional and more than many places would do these days. This is a place I would look into in the future.
Fantastic experience: If you want or need anything trading card wise then they most likely have it, and the manager there is very patient and really helpful also very up front, loved the visit I will definitely go back if I'm in the area P.S. they have one of the biggest selection of yugioh cards that I've ever seen in a shop
Fantastic experience: Good store nice people, clean, lots of bord games, video games, and card games to choose from and knowledgeable staff.
Negative experience: Waited over an hour for help buying cards. They didn't know what cards they had in stock & didn't help me look for anything, instead just commenting on how disorganized & gross their own products were
