GameStop: Reviews
Positive experience: The guy there was helpful as can be. GameStop always have system issues so if you are aware it should be no problem.
Negative experience: Won’t even answer… lmao
Fantastic experience: I love this place just for the Pokémon cards, literally I enter just to see and leave with envelopes as if it were a basic necessity haha, they have everything for gamers, but honestly... I'm going for my Pokémon cards
Negative experience: Poor customer service , pretended to be busy to grab a pick up order when other locations have fulfilled them on the spot . Do yourself a favor and go to another location
Fantastic experience: CHRISTOPHER WAS GREAT!! Helped us with deals and even finding a full collection of fnaf plushies. The GOAT!!
Fantastic experience: Had an easy PSA submission thanks to Chris! He was friendly and very helpful in helping us understand the process.
Fantastic experience: These guys are awesome! Anime and Ryan Really took care of me when I had a problem. Thanks!!!
Positive experience: Employee's great but to expensive
Fantastic experience: Went in to exchange a game I bought online and had a great customer service experience. No issues, quick and easy. Shout out to the team that was there today!
Negative experience: Manager with long hair and tattoos is desperately trying to control who gamestop sells products to. I called the store today and one of the employees tells me that they were counting pokemon products to see how much they were going to have for release date and that they would have the list in about 20 min and to call back so he can let me know how much they were going to have. Hours later I drive to gamestop and now theres another employee acting dumb saying "there is no list. idk how much product were gonna have for release date". They always had the list out on Wednesdays. But now they are hiding it , trying to control who comes for the releases to buy pokemon. Ive documented this and already making a complaint to the gamestop corporate office. Its already hard to find pokemon products and you have managers/employees playing gate keepers. Ive also seen the manager get upset because his employees put the list on the door because he doesnt want to sale pokemon products to certain people. Trying to pick and choose who he can give service to. Literal discrimination. You cant pick and choose who you want to sell gamestops brand/products to. You dont own gamestop, Youre just an employee/manager/leased owner. Im sure gamestop doesnt want this kind of behavior going on in their stores. sadly this is happening almost at every store that sells pokemon, They have employees acting like kids who cant control themselves. Just do your job , thats it.. its not hard to do. People like this are a special kind of breed and this aint going to stop me or anyone whos been coming here on release dates. and dont get me started on how theyre always getting first dibs on products leaving little to nothing for release dates. Dragons lair if literally across the street and they NEVER act like little kids playing gate keepers for pokemon products. Walmart NEVER does this either and now with the 5 per limit offer, im sure this gamestop will lose loyal customers. Theres no reason to put up with this from this store
Positive experience: I got what I needed but I had to fight against being upsold on pro membership renewal and protection fees. Don't go here if you aren't paying attention to what the cashier is trying to add on to your purchase.
Negative experience: DON’T BUY AT THIS PLACE! I’m giving 1 star only because I can’t give zero. The in-store employees were rude, careless, and completely unprofessional. They pushed me to buy items I clearly said I didn’t want, and when I refused, they gave me attitude and judgmental looks — extremely unprofessional behavior. On top of that, during a product return, I handed them my ID and forgot to take it back. Yes, that’s partially my fault, but they have all my contact information from my membership. A simple call to let me know they still had my ID would have been the right thing to do. Instead, I realized two days later and had to call multiple times — no one ever answered. When I finally drove back to the store, they made me wait 10 minutes just to open a drawer and hand it back — because they were busy chatting. I’m completely disgusted and frustrated by this level of service. It shows zero respect for customers. I honestly don’t understand how people with that attitude work with the public.
Negative experience: I preorded Silent Hill F weeks ago. The store staff assured me that they will have the steelbook pre-order bonus in stock if I pre-ordered that day. Turns out that on release day, the store didn't get enough steel books for their customers..except that wasnt true. 30 minutes before the store closed on release date, the store still had a steelbook in stock. The blonde clerk refused to sell it with my preorded because he determined it was already earkmaked to somebody else(I guess there is preferential treatment when it goes to what customers get pre-order bonuses?) The clerk then started calling me an asshole for "trying to take someone elses product". Keep in mind, this is end of day and the store is empty; the hypothetical customer no where in sight. This also falls in contradiction to the previous clerk that explained pre-order bonuses were first come first serve. When I asked for a refund, he only continued to become more abrasive. Please never preorder from this store.
Positive experience: “Such a thing doesn’t exists” “good luck finding it” The adapter was literally at the Walmart right next to you for less that 20$ It’s ok to say “I’m not sure,” “I haven’t heard of that” rather than risk coming off as condescending or patronizing to your customers.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff...
Fantastic experience: I get what I get Thanks Jeremy
Fantastic experience: I've been going to this Gamestop for years and the people there have always been top notch. Recently I called in to find out if they had Switch 2s and was directed to another location on Brodie Lane and was able to get one, shout out to Nick! I came back in to let Jeremy know that his help wasn't in vain and to thank him. He then answered a serious question I had and let me know a way I could transfer my saved data without losing my Pokemon saved data. ( I was told the way the switch 2 wants you to transfer your data in the prompt can lead to losing all of your pokemon data!). Jeremy told me the steps and I was able to play from where I left off. Called in again to thank him and that everything was working well and for the advice he gave me. I've been to several gamestops here in Austin and everyone I've met have always been cool. Shout out to Dusty too. Not sure where you are brother but its been a pleasure working with you too. This man secured me with my PS5.
Negative experience: Sells broken controllers with used consoles with no help on another controller...
Negative experience: Don't let you use giftcards for xbox cards. Lame and deceiving. Also the employee chciano dude buzz cut was rude and uninterested in any conversation or helpful with questions about games. The reason why game stop on its way to being a relic of the past
Negative experience: Alex is easily the most abrasive, rude, impatient employee I have met since I moved to Austin. I came in, asked about a headset, they only had an elite version I asked to see the item to read the description because he did not know the differences between the regular and elite models. He lets out a huge sigh grabs a ladder gets the box and comes behind the counter and says "do you see it?" While holding the box. I ask if I could read the description on the back he says no. I asked why he said because I only asked to see the box. I was confused I said I would leave my cellphone keys and wallet on the table thinking he was worried about theft or something and he told me he didn't care he just wanted to get it back on the shelf because he said he knew I wasn't probably going to buy it. When I asked if there were regular models at other locations he printing a receipt shoved it into my hand and said good luck. Alex I hope you have a better day. I come to your store to buy entertainment on my day off with my hard earned money. But in all honesty you do not belong working there. Good luck.
Fantastic experience: My son Liam’s first visit to GameStop in Austin was an absolute delight, and I can’t rave enough about the experience! From the moment we walked in, the vibrant energy of the store captivated Liam’s eyes, wide with wonder at the colorful displays of games and collectibles. Dave, the area manager, greeted us with genuine warmth, taking the time to chat with Liam about his favorite games and even surprising him with a couple of free gifts that made his day. Dave’s kindness and enthusiasm made us feel like part of the GameStop family. As we checked out, Anime, the cashier, added to the magic by slipping another free gift into our bag with a smile, thrilling Liam even more. This heartfelt hospitality turned a simple shopping trip into a cherished memory, and we can’t wait to return!
Negative experience: This gamestop states a controller is defective for a console trade in. They will then charge you for a new controller to go with the system. I took this to another gamestop and no stick drift issue at that other location. The gamestop off parmer is your better bet for integrity or the lakeline location.
Negative experience: Horrible handling for Journey Together Release Date. I was 12th in line and I was supposed to get an ETB or 2 and the promo because the sign specifically said 2 SKU per person. Store opened at 11am, the worker let all the preorders to the front and then allowed them to get 2 SKU’s of EACH release product including blooming waters, meaning in total they had their preorder items AND they skipped the line AND got 2 of each of anything else they wanted. Employee kept going back and forth from the back to grab more product then to the front register and that took an insanely long time for each person in line. Keep in mind I was 12th in line and when it was my turn to go in they had nothing but sleeved boosters and it was 1PM. When I talked to the person working he said the assistant manager told him to just let the preorder people get what they want to get them out of the way so they leave faster? Even though the line was ongoing for 2-3 hours after opening. I think this was the only GameStop that handled this so poorly. I’ve never waited 2 hours AFTER opening to get product when I was 12th in line. I hope the manager fixes this in the future
Fantastic experience: Customer service was absolutely 10 out of 10!! Ryan was such a good help finding my nostalgia games for my collection!
Fantastic experience: Te atienden bien
Negative experience: I feel terrible for the employees that need to work in this store. I've been in on multiple occasions and the smell of backed up sewage is over whelming. After speaking with a few of the employees, it seems district management would rather gaslight and retaliate against the store employees for rasing concerns than actually address a pretty obvious problem.
Negative experience: Placed an online order for in-store delivery. Tracking info says Delivered. Store employees can't find it, didn't even seem to know they had a mailbox. Say they have no record of the order even after I show receipt. GameStop corporate refuses to issue a refund. Essentially, the company has stolen $55 from me. Highly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Hey, Merry Christmas Very nice store, I like it :) But already a year I live nearby and “…me” letters on the signboard required to be fix. I think this attention to details is important.
Fantastic experience: The manager (Dusty) and his Assistant Manager (Jeremy) are both really good at their job. They helped my 10 and 11 year old sons trade in an old Xbox and take a pile of loose bills from a summer of allowances to walk out with a new (to us) Xbox X. I signed up for the paid membership because I know we will be back.
Negative experience: Don't put an order in for in-store pickup here. It will never be filled and your funds will be tied up for at least 3+ days. Nobody appears to work at this location. Went here today around 1 PM and sat until 2:15 PM and the store is just closed with no note or anything.
Negative experience: took forever to fulfill in store pick up (literally 2 sets of cards) and never answer the phone to cancel order. horrible store
Negative experience: GameStop's hours of operation are more like a suggestion. Stopped by on a Saturday at 2:40pm. It doesn't seem like a well run store.
Negative experience: employees weren’t just unhelpful, they were also rude and insulting.
Negative experience: Why have People that doesn't wanna work. This is the worst place I have ever visited.
Negative experience: Employees out on break at 11am - Great waste of time
Negative experience: Muy mal servicio pecimo horrible mi hijo le pregunto a la persona que estaba en la tienda y fue horrible su contestacion no lo recomiendo
Fantastic experience: Always has my gift cards
Fantastic experience: Literally just walked out of the store and had to write a review. Dude behind the counter is the nicest game stop employee I’ve ever talked to in my life. You can tell he cares about what he’s doing and the customers who come in. Give him a raise immediately.
Negative experience: Always smells weird. Like someone just farted and they are trying to cover it up. I've been there a few times and it always smells like that. Please use some febreeze or something. Didn't smell like that in 2023 so I have no clue what happened.
Negative experience: They charge me for a gamestop bag when i didn't know they charge me for a bag thw guy name cecil just run up to me and gave me a bag i didn't know he charge me for.. thats really disappointing they charge me for a bad i didn't even knew in till i check my receipt.
Negative experience: I Was extremely disappointed. They don't buy anymore!? So I ventured to a new store.
Negative experience: Bro has a sign up that he was gone for 15min when I pulled up, waited 40min and left.
Fantastic experience: It is one of the best gamestop locations. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. It's definitely a good place to go for gamers.
Negative experience: Bad at answering the phone
Fantastic experience: Always have what I need, and almost always less expensive than amazon. Win win.
Fantastic experience: Billy and Madison were so helpful and patient in helping me with my purchase! The DM arrived and jumped right into checking and double-checking to help me find a game. Thank y’all and keep up the great work!
Fantastic experience: It was nice, they helped me with all I needed and I was even able to buy a ps5 for my husband thanks to the nice worker there.
Negative experience: go somewhere else plz. ppl here are very lazy
Fantastic experience: I came in asking for a pop that was instock online and even though I didn’t see it on shelves, they went out of their way to check the back and counter to find her! Great peeps who respect collecting!
Positive experience: My son likes this place
Positive experience: Helpful staff and decent variety of games.
Negative experience: My wife went here to purchase a PS5 as a surprise for me. She came home in tears and explained that the employee working the register had repeatedly accused her of being “fake” after she said she didn’t have a GameStop account and was buying it for me. This store’s quality of service is the only thing that’s fake.
Positive experience: Helpful staff, store itself is small and lacking but makes up for it in other ways.
Negative experience: Price gouging for a PS5 claiming it as a bundle with Madden. Hard pass.
Positive experience: Store hours are suffering from employee shortages but ignoring that great store and has always had or gotten what I wanted
Negative experience: I don't know what happened to gamestop after I left along time ago, but so far everyone that I have been to in Austin is terrible, no one even seems like there gamers or know anything about games, the store hrs don't even matter because there always late its Insane. It would just be me opening up a big store location by myself and doing distro, pricing, Marketing etc and still before opening ♂️.
Fantastic experience: Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: I love gamestop
Negative experience: Crowded. Displays everywhere. Poor selection. Poorly trained staff.
Positive experience: Good service.
Fantastic experience: Ian was a real stand-up fella. very cool dude. very helpful and engaging in getting us a pre-owned nintendo switch! girlfriend said he was cool which is rare for her to say about other people. 10/10 would recommend his store :)
Fantastic experience: Normally don't stop at this location but they had a game my daughter wanted so of course I had to visit. I was very happy the phone call and the cordial staff when I arrived.
Fantastic experience: Ian and Kendra helped me out with a wonky return/purchase for a controller adapter and they were SUPER helpful. Hands down the best customer service I've had at a GameStop and honestly any electronics retailer for that matter. Every GameStop should be run this way.
Negative experience: This is the first time coming into this GameStop. I always come to the Walmart next to it. My first Impression is not pleasant. It smelled like sewage, the inventory was very limited, and the staff was shy with interaction. I would not come back. I would be willing to drive further to go to a different GameStop.
Fantastic experience: Game stop is a good place to buy new and used game's
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff, clean areas and found what I needed with no problems.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place with such friendly and helpful workers
Fantastic experience: I want to shout out to Chris! He is so friendly and helpful. Definitely will come back again.
Fantastic experience: Ty at the Anderson location is awsome and very knowledgeable, alway helpful and great conversation. If you haven't given him a raise lately you should. Best service around.
Fantastic experience: This particular store is one of my favorites in Austin. The manager Chris is the friendliest, most knowledgeable person about gaming and collectibles I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with. He always makes sure I get the best deal and value for money. I saved a lot of money and earned a lot of trade-in credits due to his help. I highly recommend this location for avid gamers and collectors.
Fantastic experience: This worker was very polite, energetic ,knowledgeable and his customer service was great. I have been to the one off of Ben white and the workers there not so friendly and didn't really acknowledge me or what I was looking for. So I would definitely be going back to Anderson store .
Fantastic experience: Didn't catch his name, but the guy working there is super cool. We're moving up east soon or else I'd be stopping by to pick up games more often
Fantastic experience:
Fantastic experience: Fun! Staff is awesome!
Fantastic experience: Good people work at this location
Fantastic experience: Staff was great!
Fantastic experience: Great staff super friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: We like the stock
Negative experience: The worst gamestop ever. The guy behind the counter was super rude.
Fantastic experience: Been coming to this GameStop for a long while now, Chris and the team at this store are super friendly and very nice, they’ve always helped me trade in my games for the new ones that come out, and have always taken care of me and answered any questions I have. Thank you guys very much for your friendly and amazing service.
Fantastic experience: Service was phenomenal really great location
Fantastic experience: Super Fast and Friendly service. I got in and out with ease. They were only location that had Advent item I was looking for.
Negative experience: They barely have anything in stock
Negative experience: I absolutely cannot stand this store and their "car lot salesman" attitude. They refuse to accept a "no" for their special offers or pre-orders and attempt to guilt trip you for walking away without one. They also demean you when you prefer a new copy over a used and will continue to talk down on you to convince you to purchase their used copy. They frame this tactic as a way to save you money but it's actually because they make more profit on the sale of a used copy and make a commission. Overall, it's far too predatory for a video game store. I recommend the store in Arboretum. The staff is far more friendly since they communicate with you as a human being and are not trying to cram sales down your throat.
Positive experience: Great place customer service is awesome very knowledgable and will help you make the right choices for your gaming needs. But can be a little pricey.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service
Positive experience: Appreciate the expertise and enthusiasm of GameStop employees at this location.
Negative experience: Worst GameStop to go to. Walmart has cheaper controllers. Best bet is there. Go Walmart!!!
Fantastic experience: Thomas was very helpful and attentive. Thank you so much!
Fantastic experience: Muy buen lugar
Fantastic experience: I get all my games here! The early releases ive been too has been safe and lots of extra trivia prizes given out for free. also the people working here actually care enough to talk to you about the games your buying no one seems dead inside. They have a great return policy you can trade it back in for another game if you end up not likeing the one you got. It helped me out so i didn't have to buy like 10 different games i didn't enjoy.
Fantastic experience: The best Gamestop, most of the time. The man with glasses, his name is Chris. Seek him and he goes above and beyond the call of duty for a customer even when there acting foolish toward. He truly is the reason i come here even aside, from having what im usally looking for, almost feels family like amongst the staff and us 100000% work! Keep it up! -That guy with the face tats & the purple haired wife ;)
Fantastic experience: The employees here are great they always have something good to recommend and are very knowledgeable!
Fantastic experience: Kept clean and organized, great staff. Always a breeze coming in to place/pick up preorders and shop around for games
Fantastic experience: very helpful staff
Positive experience: Got what was neede
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: I had one of the best experiences I have ever had at any store, not just Gamestop. Chris was honest and went above and beyond to make sure I was getting the best deal he could get me, letting me know he thought I could get a game cheaper but the promotion ended, and then being honest about an upcoming sale on a system, as well as the value I could get for my trade in. Awesome. Outstanding customer service from Chris.
Fantastic experience: Friendly, and very helpful.
Positive experience: It's aight.
