GameStop: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Staff was friendly, knowledgeable & efficient Went in for a switch game, memory card and they hooked me up on a membership
Fantastic experience: Good condition well different ps4 many disc game good help $5 to $60 come people support good game
Negative experience: I walked in to offload a couple of old systems that I'm no longer using. When the woman with glasses came out of the back room, I said hello and her response was almost irritated. I asked how she was doing and again her response was very irritated and offputting like how dare I ask her how she's doing. She gave off a negative nasty attitude like she was upset that I came into her business. She then told me they didn't have cash and it would be a money prepaid Mastercard. That's understandable but due to her revolting and disgusting attitude I chose to walk out and go to another store.
Negative experience: SO RUDE! I walked in, looked at a PS5 that I 100% planned on buying. I then walked to the register and asked about the PS5 digital slim edition and was quickly told "I don't know, I'm in the middle of something." — the woman put her head back down and continued looking at her phone. I was the ONLY person in the store! she had nothing going on that should've surpassed that kind of a sale. so I walked back over to the PS5 display and waited a moment and after being ignored still I left and told the woman, "sorry to have bothered you." missed out on a guaranteed sale of a $380 PS5 console. I went to the next closest GameStop and was engaged within seconds after walking in. it was one of those things that leaves you thinking about it after you leave the store. those are your main job requirements. make sales, be friendly, and have a high customer satisfaction rating. she had every opportunity to meet all those things and more, and choose to look at her phone on the counter instead. it would've costed her maybe 5 minutes away from her phone by doing her job. it almost felt like she was trying to be rude, because there's no way that encounter was by mistake or to where she had no idea how someone would have felt the way I did afterwards. there's no way. she's lucky I didn't get her name. otherwise I would've quickly called management.
Negative experience: As mentioned by the other reviewers, the “older lady” working here is extremely rude and unprofessional , even to her own employees. Unhelpful and arrogant.
Negative experience: The lady with the glasses is one of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered in a store. I came in today to purchase a game that was on sale (according to GameStop's own black Friday flyer on their website) and when I got there I noticed that it was not marked as on sale. I said excuse me to her and asked when the deal would start for the specific game I wanted and she said she didn't know anything about it, in a rude tone. This put me off and I was going to let it go but then I rechecked the flyer and it said the sale was currently going on. So, I tried to show her the flyer and she just brushed it off and basically told me off and that she couldn't do anything. Making a remark that the deal was too good to be true, basically implying that I am incapable of reading the ad. Get off your pedestal and treat people with at least a little decency. I understand your job sucks, but it's your responsibility to aid customers when you are at work. I will not shop at this store again and something tells me that is exactly what she wanted. What a miserable person.
Fantastic experience: Nice little spot, friendly staff and easy quick access.
Negative experience: Bad customer service! Employe Chris was so rude, I will not ever buy form this location again.
Fantastic experience: Great selection of video games, helpful staff willing to locate what your looking for and quick to get you on your way!
Negative experience: I was at this Gamestop about a week ago and it's the second time I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with Taylee. Taylee has very poor manners and both times I've been to this store she looked at me disgusted like I reminded her of someone she hates (even though I don't know her at all). She has a very nasty attitude and any question you ask, she makes it obvious you're bothering her. Right before I started my review I got curious and thought she is so unprofessional there had to be other negative reviews about her. After scrolling down I saw quite a few and none positive about her. So I guess no matter how rude and unprofessional she is, nobody higher up is going to do anything about it. I GUARANTEE if her boss went into that store undercover while she was working they'd be disgusted on how they'd get treated. If her boss would like to contact me to find out more all you need to do is ask.
Negative experience: Worst location I've been to. After a 35 minute trip down to pick up video games. Was told that they would not honor the 4 for $20 game deal that was on their sign?!! Why put up signs and have them online but not honor the price? What a waste of time the manager and other employee were no help and horrible to deal with. Shame on these guys and will start purchasing my games from eBay and other sources!! Rates F---
Negative experience: Horrible first experience will not be back. Whoever the manager is that opened today learn some manners. Waited in line since 4 am to finally get Pokemon to be first. As I’m making my purchased she was annoyed I didn’t purchase the over priced pro membership then after I pulled out 80 1$ bills I have saved up to make the purchase she proceeded to scoff as she was seemingly unpleased to count money? Will be complaining to corporate of my experience. Also was seen yelling behind the glass at who knows what before the doors opened around 9:30. Which made everyone feel uneased. Very bad look 7/26/2025
Positive experience: They usually have what you need if you are in a gaming pinch. Allow extra checkout time.
Negative experience: Was just in this store and asked the girl behind the counter about Action Figures they carry, the girl stated she did not know what product they carry. Then as I was looking to buy a Switch game with a child. She told us not to mess up the games as they were in alphabetical order. Mind you there was no one else in the store and she was not busy at all on April 10. 2025 at 6pm.
Fantastic experience: Fast and friendly location. Held a game for me and was in and out in minutes.
Negative experience: They said they open at 11, it’s now just about 11:30. There’s nobody here. is this place closed indefinitely?
Fantastic experience: Fantastic store great staff!!
Negative experience: If I could do a no star I would. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Girl working(refused to give her name) was rude from the beginning. Bought a controller less than 2 months ago, quit working and now I have to spend more to swap it out. No point in going here to buy refurbished, I'm spending more than a new one now in less than 2 months.
Fantastic experience: Two gentlemen working. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
Negative experience: so it would be a high rating but the person that worked there with glasses got really close to me when I was just browseing with my family. He would talk about personel stuff. But the reason I left is becuase everytime I move from him he would get really close to me very weird so we left without having a chance to buy anything.
Fantastic experience: God Tier
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience doing a trade-in here. Got exactly the value I was expecting and a free pro membership out of the deal.
Negative experience: A warning to woman entering this store alone. My girlfriend felt extremely uncomfortable communicating and interacting with the employee that was working at 12pm 4/26/2024. She went in to buy a gift for me and when the employee asked for her ID to purchase a game he scoffs and says "ohh it's just that you're too young" now granted she is 24 and able to purchase rated M games. Confused, my girlfriend buys the game and leaves later to realize he meant she was too young FOR HIM. Please stay clear of this unprofessional GameStop as they clearly exhibit inappropriate behavior.
Fantastic experience: Has every game imaginable!
Negative experience: So I’m a disabled veteran with ptsd and a eroding spine and a lung issues I get very little money per month from the army to survive on that being said having this store take advantage of me and lie to me about the 7 day return policy due to there employees not doing there job correct and or system messing up I’m not sure where my money went and can’t get a straight answer nor a return call from manager. I’m currently filling a complaint with the bbb and talking with my local va for support on this situation
Fantastic experience: My xbox series x that i've had for two years started acting up. I called gamestop to find out what it would give me as a trade-in. They told me they'd give me $275 for my old box. So I went and got a new one and traded in the old and ended up paying $204 out the door. What an awesome deal.
Fantastic experience: Good really
Fantastic experience: The store attendant was extremely helpful in providing information about gaming consoles and their strengths and weaknesses! Great customer service
Fantastic experience: The nicest customer service I’ve had in so long! Me and my boyfriend went in on Christmas Eve at night to try and find a last minute Switch for my sibling. The worker was insanely helpful and kind making sure we got exactly what we needed! He made great conversation with us and was just so kind the whole time give this man a raise‼️‼️‼️
Fantastic experience: I am so beyond impressed and soo grateful for the experience I have had with GameStop with the Oculus Quest 2 I had purchased in March . Then in December I needed to exchange it with the warranty I bought. They said their warranty had changed but was very diligent on contacting their managers about exchanging it. They reached out to me in 2 weeks and said they would be able to exchange it for a new one which was part of the warranty I bought. I came in right away and received my new one for my son. I am soo amazed at their professionalism and understanding and how they reached out to see how to handle a situation. This was at Gilbert Gateway on S Power Rd and the employees names are: Chandler and Taylee the store leader. They were amazing.
Negative experience: Taylee is an absolute nightmare. We hadn’t even walked through the door yet and we could hear her screaming at one of her employees because they didn’t know where to find something. And I mean Taylee was literally raging screaming her head off I thought she was going to have an aneurism. No one deserves to be spoken to that way and much less over something so trivial. I was shocked at the level of unprofessionalism openly displayed in the shop by Taylee’s outrageous power trip. After she finished screaming, she went on to very loudly talk garbage about the employee she was raging at (again, all while customers were still present and browsing the store). Taylee then answered the store phone to assist a customer and after hanging up she again talked garbage (this time about the customer) to her employee. Come checkout time, we said no thank you (twice) to the offer of joining their GameStop pro membership program to which Taylee became incredibly irritated and proceeded to treat us in an absurdly rude manner getting snarky, rolling her eyes, and unnecessarily throwing our purchase roughly into a bag. Overall a horrible experience, we weren’t the ones getting yelled at but somehow ended up getting the backlash of her horrible attitude. To be clear, the store was clean, organized, and nothing was wrong with their merchandise. Taylee however, is an absolute nightmare and needs to get off her power trip and consider getting an attitude adjustment.
Positive experience: Only 4 stars because I can't put 4.5 stars. The staff were super helpful and friendly, I was unable to find one product that I had come for. Not the employees fault by any means. Just out of stock at this location. The Stapley location however were incredibly rude, unhelpful and hung up on me several times. The manager at this location (power and ray) ended up calling for me and fixed the issue so I could go to the other store to pick up my game. Power and ray location staff are wonderful.
Fantastic experience: Ryan D was my hero today (2023) the dude was juggling 6 customers and didn’t miss a beat giving all of us the best customer service.
Positive experience: Nice employees. Way overpriced everything.
Fantastic experience: Friendly service
Negative experience: I brought in a brand new, unwrapped Madden 23 game to see what trade value i might get toward another game. and the guy told me I had to unwrap it before he could even give me a trade in price, then upon opening the wrapper he said 10 bucks. Wow. So I devalued the game for him to say 10 bucks. I'll never ever shop there again. BTW, they were selling that same game for 69 dollars. Felt dirty and "scammy", like the pawn shop for video games.
Fantastic experience: The staff make this place great. Friendly and knowledgeable. We can't ask for more!
Negative experience: Literally the worst GameStop I have ever been to. There is always an issue here some way of some sort. Between poor knowledge of video game, speaking in nonsenselical terms, and trying to get you to buy things you don't need I'd highly advise to visit another location.
Fantastic experience: A pleasure palace full of the greatest confectionery, Video Games. From plushies to consoles, GameStop is your stop for everything "games".
Positive experience: As with all gamestop they always come out ahead.
Fantastic experience: The employee was super friendly and was very helpful I will visit alot more in the future
Positive experience: I will be honest, I don't think very much of Game Stop as a company. But this particular store has abnormally excellent customer service and just very very friendly and pleasant staff. Frankly they should all get bonuses as they are the reason I return regularly. The store itself is a typical Game Stop though.
Positive experience: Everyone loves to hate GameStop. I've been in there a few times and never find the same people who are working there before. That tells me that they have a high amount of turnover. But let's be honest, working at GameStop is not a career move and maybe something you would do after you got out of rehab and you were still on methadone. There should be some sort of warning on the door telling you that our customers may or may not believe in showering. Because while I was in there these few different times off and on, I can recall that the other customers had extreme body odor. I'm talking full on world war one trench fighting mustard gas equipment needed. I actually looked at my daughter to see that she was turning a very unhealthy color of green and she said Dad I need to get out of here now. That was the one time I took her because the sub shop is right around the other parking lot. She told me in the car that she will never walk in there ever again. My son, on the other hand, the last time we were in there was able to go through their bargain bin and pull out a pretty sweet action figure. That was probably a good 4 lb and after the Witcher series. The normal price was $86 we found online and this price was $15 for a 15-year-old this is absolutely gold to add to the collection in their room. What I can tell you is that they have a high selection of Nintendo games that you can get and they also have keyboard and mice for gamers as well. You can buy an Xbox there or PlayStation that's been refurbished and give it a pretty good price. As I'm no longer a gamer, I can only live haphazardly through my son as he weighs the pros and cons of dedicating a few hours of his life to a game. He did look at the clothing in there and he wondered as we sat in the car Dad we live in Phoenix Arizona. Why would they be selling so many heavy hoodies? That's a good question. I think they would be able to move more merchandise if they just sold t-shirts. Let's talk about the store. It's a normal game stop store. It was clean. Well laid out and everything was hanging correctly immediately as it should, which tells me the staff goes around regularly checking everything to make sure it is in its appropriate location so that the customers can decide on their purchase.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, quick to ask and answer any and all questions, will come back again
Fantastic experience: Great staff. Friendly and knowledgeable. Help to make my purchase of the ps5 easier to swallow
Negative experience: Was going to buy a game but they were charging $60 and wouldn’t price match to $40 even tho that’s how much Wal Mart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon were selling. So I just drove the 2 extra minutes across the street to Wal Mart where I got it for $30. Get it together GameStop
Positive experience: Very helpful great staff friendly
Positive experience: Gentleman that was working must have been filling in and he was very helpful. I put a deposit on a new release and was supposed to get a call when it came in. Just stopped in to check the status saw that items were there but I never got a call. This is the second time at this location on Power and Ray. Disappointed in overall customer service. Just like many other families we work hard for a living and when you ask to place a hold on new item being released with a deposit you expect to have it reserved for you. I can see it happening once but twice. I will be finding another GameStop to be my go to store in the future
Negative experience: Buyers beware, the store is telling people they can buy eshop gift cards with their pro rewards and this is not true. I signed up only for this advantage to find out gamestop discontinued this practice in January. Store is evidently not well educated in overall gamestop policies and I will be calling for a refund. This is a scam tactic.
Fantastic experience: Friendly GamStop love the team members and the selections and lots of clearance currently.
Fantastic experience: Amazing customer service. The staff is all very friendly and helpful. My favorite store by far!
Negative experience: Kind and courteous but no one had any knowledge about the type of games I was looking for.
Positive experience: Excelente atención
Positive experience: Classic GameStop. They sell you games and then want you to upsell you on protection plans.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful staff!
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff!
Fantastic experience: The only GameStop I will go to…
Fantastic experience: I swear they did close this store
Fantastic experience: Came in randomly to trade in my system with accessories and games. Against all odds with 1 hero employee she was able to greet, process my trade and complete all transactions that kept piling in and yet we both succeeded in our missions that day. Was pretty epic lol you might of had to be there to feel the awesomeness that occurred.
Negative experience: I took in a almost brand new Series 6 Apple Watch and the worker told me 250-300$ for it.. I proceeded and they made me wipe its memory then they took 40 min i don’t know doing what then told me they cold only give me 130$.. they completely waisted my time and now I gota re set up this watch… they the manager when I told him that it makes no sense lied to me and told me it’s because they have the series 7 out which isn’t full of s*!t…
Fantastic experience: I just liked their available stock.
Positive experience: I loved it but it needed more 3Ds games/pokemon games.
Positive experience: Very help & understanding
Fantastic experience: Store was clean and well stocked. Tho another employee would of been helpful to have. Though the guy that was there was very helpful and kind
Fantastic experience: Dani and crew are awesome. This is my go-to GameStop. In my opinion, it’s worth the drive from San Tan Valley to do business with this location! Update: I went in today with a Series X Controller issue and Alex resolved the problem, I really enjoy this location and would absolutely do business with them again in a heartbeat.
Fantastic experience: Employees are really nice.
Fantastic experience: Nicest staff ever
Fantastic experience: Danielle is super friendly and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Super friendly and helpful staff! We were very impressed.
Positive experience: Had my game I ordered, but really bone you on trades if you try to go that route.
Positive experience: Parking an issue when busy otherwise ^
Negative experience: Placed a pre order for a game they didn't have till 3 days after release
Positive experience: Take advantage of looking up the nearest store to you. Or call them if you're looking for a certain game just to make sure they have it.
Fantastic experience: Alex is friendly & knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the difference between a couple games we asked about & then went into detail for me about what exactly made them different (because I'm what real gamers call a "noob" lol) Thanks for being awesome! :)
Fantastic experience: Such a friendly and helpful place to shop
Fantastic experience: I went to purchase a new PS4 Slim after my old system finally died. After conducting a search around my home for a PS4 Slim in stock, this store had one left. Emma said she would hold it for me till I arrived. Emma was very nice, helpful and very knowledgeable. We talked about gaming while checking out and she recommended the two year extended warranty on my new unit and i agreed. A few months after I had to exchange my new controller when the joy stick stuck and it was exchanged with no hassle. Kindness goes along way with people and Emma did everything possible to make sure I had a great experience.I've noticed that people who had a bad experience write a whole paragraph about it and those that had a positive one only write a couple words... Stores have rules and employees have to follow them, but they will go the extra miles to take care of customers who treat them with respect.
Fantastic experience: A no hassle exchange for a Nintendo switch controller!
Fantastic experience: Got the Voltron Classic action figures for my kids birthday.
Fantastic experience: Emma and the other workers were very friendly and helpful.
Negative experience: The employee was incredibly rude and dismissive. I went in looking to trade in my PS4 for a new one and there are none in stock anywhere and they don't know when they're going to be in. All of that is fine. It makes sense considering everything that's going on. The problem is the way that the employee spoke to me and was just flat-out rude. I asked if his manager was around so I could find out if they can hold the trade-in value that I was quoted until they had some in and he smirked at me and said that no Alex wouldn't be in 4 a week. When I said I would make sure it's call him then he said yep good luck with that and then said the same thing when I told him that since he's so rude I may just go ahead and call corporate. I called the store right down the street and the manager was incredibly helpful offering to look it up for me to see if there were any available online and really trying to go out of his way to explain the situation and help me find an option. What a difference that few miles made
Negative experience: Keep getting controller that die after 4 days on like number 25 of the year
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Staff all ways helpful, know the systems and games.
Fantastic experience: Cool selection of games
Fantastic experience: Great store and staff
Fantastic experience: Pleasant place to go to, with great confrontational gaming conversations that remained civil and wonderful.
Positive experience: For me the staff has always been helpful and friendly. My only problem is that the used games that are on the floor are not necessarily the ones that are behind the counter.
Fantastic experience: The store was nice and the employees were super helpful. They suggested games and let me know about how some games like the Just Dance series have their own subscription that let's you use the latest songs. This is always my favorite gamestop to go to.
Positive experience: Decent
Negative experience: They told me they would restock on a product on a Monday and they physically told me that it would be restocked but I was lied to. One of the workers had a mood when was asked for the item that I needed.
Positive experience: Cashier was great. He had just dealt with a very rude, disrespectful customer, and didn't let that bother his demeanor with us.
Fantastic experience: Helpful, nice, knowledgeable and fast so overall pleasant journey
Fantastic experience: It's GameStop... what is there not to love? :P
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff.
Negative experience: Rip off. No discount. Better buy new
Positive experience: Polite staff, who work well with kids
Negative experience: If there is more than 2 people in line, be prepared to be waiting a very long time to check out
Positive experience: Woop Woop
Negative experience: Called ahead to see if a game was available, told it was going to be held for us. Got there, game wasn't held, and we were very rudely told that we didn't call (hit redial and store phone rang). So many Gamestops... don't need to go back to this one!
Fantastic experience: They have or can get whatever you need.
