Negative experience: I went into the Port Richmond GameStop on Aug 24 2025 at 2pm looking to purchase a brand new PlayStation 4. The clerk asked what specs I wanted, then brought out a used PlayStation 4 telling me it would cost $170. I said "oh I wanted a new one" The boy behind the counter told me that Sony isn't making new PS4s anymore, and that I had to buy a used one. I immediately checked Google and , Yes, Sony is still making new PS4s. And the new ones cost about the same amount as the used one The boy was trying to sell me. He lied to my face to try and make a sale. I understand that GameStop is struggling but lying to your customers to make a sale is not how you're going to pull through. I won't be purchasing anything from this GameStop again, and it's really put me off the store in general. Don't lie to your customers. It's super easy to check if they're being dishonest. Also, why are you trying to sell used consoles for the same price as a new one?

Positive experience: I stopped in to purchase a PS5 controller. I got in line and waited 10 minutes just to find out the display tags on the wall were just for show. The cashier told me they were out of controllers despite still having the tags on the wall. He suggested other stores about a mile or two away. I'm still trying to reclaim my 10 wasted minutes

Negative experience: They just tried to scam me here I called and asked how much would it be to trade in a olde first they tell me it’s going to be 80$ which I was okay with they said bring everything that comes with it which I did I get there I seen her put In 3 different prices and then say it’s 40$ I asked how she said it’s not in perfect condition and started smelling. And the ID part to they pick and choose when to take ID I would recommend not coming here

Negative experience: If you come to this location make sure you bring your ID, come here all the time they made my account with no ID and tell me that they need it physically to help me now. Asked to speak to supervisor and gentleman said “Im as high as it goes here”. Gentleman began asking “ you would not want someone calling you on your day off right?’’ Which I felt unnecessary and condescending. Will not be returning here

But if your old and just trying to buy an overpriced game for full price that came out a year ago then come here. Sometimes they have good deals, but I don't know how they stay in business. I get 97% of my games on ebay for $15-25.

Negative experience: Be careful what they tell you. When I called to make sure they have a PS available, the employee told me not to order a PS online and pick it up. So I went in to the store and she wouldn't sell me the PS unless I paid $30 extra to get PSN dollars. She said they only sold "bundles" in the store..... so I had to pay $30 extra when I could of paid online and picked it up. The site was showed 3 individual PS5s available.

The employees are usually educated about the games, consoles, etc. instead of the usual "I just work here but know nothing of what I'm charging you for" attitude. They are all nice, courteous, and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this store.

Negative experience: So because no one like to do work anymore......I called this store 3 days in a row 3 separate times and Everytime I called which was multiple time each time (15x) just to ask a question so I won't have to go 15 mins out of the way for nothing but I called and Everytime they take the phone off the hook so the. Line goes straight to busy so once again they don't do work....this is why y'all are going out of business because you cant hire someone with some type of passion to do their job just very poor will not get any more business from me and I'd advise others to do the same go to best buy or Walmart way cheaper and friendlier

Negative experience: I went to GameStop today and I was trying to trade a phone in. Joseph the manager told me that I could trade a phone in because he couldn’t log in to the system. I feel like he just told me that just because they was about to close and he was ready to get off.

Positive experience: From video games, to funko pops, Gamestop has a bit of everything for your digital lifestyle. I believe they started to offer gaming chairs, too. Check online for deals, and make sure to check your e-mails, as deals tend to slip in between the cracks there, too. If you're lucky, you may even find rare figures worth collecting "in the wild."

Fantastic experience: Newer store, everything ia clean and organized. Staff is friendly. I went today and they were preparing for their Pro-Sale on Saturday. They didn't have two of the latest titles I wanted but understandable as we are fresh off the holiday season and stimulus handouts. They recently moved and are now closer to the newer Starbucks and Nifty Fifties.

Negative experience: Ignorant rude employees. Gamestop is a joke anymore. Traded in 7 newer games (from the last 6 months) and only got $30 in store credit. Honestly can't wait for them to go out of business and we can just get all our gaming needs from Amazon or any online retailer for that matter.

Fantastic experience: I been going to this particular GameStop for at least 4 years now, the staff is always really friendly and patient. and given this location for city GameStop is pretty big They have a full section of apparel, figures and board games. I've been to 99% of the GameStops in Philadelphia this is one of my favorites.

Negative experience: 3/15 Terrible customer service, got treated like absolute sh** the second I walked up to the front register. Mind you the day before at the same exact time I bought a brand new Xbox 1 from this location and multiple Xbox 1 games and a couple Xbox 360 games, the one game I bought for the Xbox was listed as backwards compatible and for 19.99. Nate was the kid at the counter, super disrespectful attitude and full of sh** ripped my reciept completely in half from the top to bottom and played along like he was printing another one out for me and never did just put a round clear sticker to try and hold together two separate huge long pieces of paper with 350$ worth of items on the paper. He then said I wouldn’t need it in the future which is total BS. His speech and way of speaking to his “customer” was absolutely obsurd if you were trying to talk and act like a hoodlum you most certainly achieved it kid. Back to the game issue ~ I bought it and tried to play it but as soon as I popped the disk in the console a error message came up saying the game is not “BC” backwards compat, why would you sticker label a video game as “BC” then put it in a GameStop case with the < “BC” > indicator stating it’s okay to play on the Xbox 1. If the GM or manager sees this I would highly suggest you review your staff and the flow of customer service especially that young lad Nate. Going to lose a lot of customers and money by the way your treating your regulars!! I will make sure to NEVER return to this location and will continue to notify as many gamers in our local community of port Richmond as possible!! How does it feel to rip off locals that used this store as a #1 go to!!! Absolute shameful❌ P.S - I got completely mislead and lied to, I actually called the store before I left just to double check on a couple questions I had. Turns out when I arrived it’s the complete opposite of what I was told? I have been to GameStop’s all over the tri-state (PA, Delaware, NJ, NY) and after all - I have not once been treated so low and unprofessional! I will continue to notify the gaming community of port Richmond/fish town and Philadelphia!
