Fantastic experience: Always love coming here, call before you go! Absolutely worth it every time I go see him. He's got the hook ups you don't see in every store. He's the guy to know!

Fantastic experience: Always enjoy shopping here I've been shopping for the past few years and I've bought a 360, XB1, a COD WW2 PS4, Wii u tons of games. A PlayStation drum set is how I started shopping with him back in 2015/16. My dsi was repaired through here. Everyone in here is friendly whenever events are held. Everyone gets along great and has the up most respect for each other and the shop owner. I can go on and on about how great this shop is you gotta go check it out make sure you call first too so they can be prepped for what you come to do. They recently held a Marvel Vs Capcom Tournament and it was a great time we had some people cosplay and some people just wore marvel or capcom apparel. Everyone had a great time can't wait for the smash bros ultimate tournament next month. I bought my initial switch from here along with 1-2 switch and just dance and then eventually I upgraded to a limited edition switch and I didn’t want the carrying case that came with it. I gave that to him. Still going strong all these years later and now they have a bar!! The events they have been holding have been so cool and so unique! The joker event,the margarita’s in the moonlight as well as the Halloween/Xmas parties and the New Years Cosplay countdown! Cant wait to see what comes next! I got 2 actual Harry Potter figures from here too a Harry Potter from S.H figuarts and A Hermonie made by good smile. 2025 update!! Bought a Series X and a few switch games. Bought a PS5 controller and PSVR 2 and then sold my PS5 through here lol. Found some niche DS games in here. Bought a few switch games and a collectors set to get in the future.

Fantastic experience: Got some Nintendo brand N64 controllers and a rumble pack Call ahead!

Negative experience: Pretty strange experience. I found the store in a google search without looking at any reviews. Drove 45 minutes to arrive 15 minutes after the opening time but it was closed. Came an hour later but had to call to get inside. At the start of my visit I went to pickup a Sega Genesis game that was probably worth a few dollars and was reprimanded like a little kid and told not to touch anything. If you’re not allowed to touch anything, and there are no prices, and the owner is not readily available to give pricing, then why have a physical store? If you’re worried about stealing, then why not put high priced games in a locked cabinet. Seems a little irrational to sell games for a few dollars and not allow anyone to touch them. Hiring an employee would also minimize this risk, and then the store could open at the advertised times, like a real store. I was also repeatedly told that I should already know what I want before going inside the store so he can have it ready. Common sense would tell you that if you’re going to a physical store you most likely don’t exactly know what you want. If I did, I’d be going to eBay. I was told that it was ok to browse, but I didn’t get the feeling that I was very welcome. Most annoyingly, for most of my visit the owner was on the phone so I couldn’t ask many questions, like the price. There were no prices on anything, so the owner should be able to quickly provide guidance. I was eventually able to ask the price on about 2 items, which were well above market price. It was almost as though he didn’t really want to sell anything. One item I asked about he eventually went and grabbed it, but knew nothing about it, took a picture, I kept waiting but he walked to the back of the store and started talking on the phone again. After 45 minutes I gave up in frustration and left. As I went to leave the front door was locked, again pretty strange, so I had to unlock it to get out. The owner seems like a nice guy, but probably needs some professional guidance to learn to operate as a physical store.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience there! Owner is very knowledgeable. He asks you call ahead, so they’re essentially open by appointment only. I called ahead about 10 minutes prior to showing up and he still helped me. I got a Nintendo 64 and some games and controllers. He tested and cleaned each item before I paid to ensure everything is working well.

Negative experience: Dishonest timewasters. Battle Box was live streaming on the app whatnot on November 6th, 2025. I asked to purchase Legend of Zelda Link's awakening and they said they have the game and also a DX version and that they would do $25 for one of them. I said I'd pay $50 for both (exactly what they were asking on each). I typed this in their chat 3 or 4 times before finally being acknowledged. They agreed to the price, and i made my purchase. The following day, November 7th, 2025th... I received a notice that they are cancelling my order to sell to someone else instead. Completely garbage business. Their "support agent" who goes by "C" was making ridiculous excuses, as well. Expect to not receive your games and have your orders cancelled if you buy from this "store."

Negative experience: I have never im my life had to call ahead before going into one of these shops. Its a video game store, not a jeweler.

Negative experience: Cosmic destroyers collectibles is just about a mile away with a better toy selection

Fantastic experience: I’m ashamed to say I’ve driven past this store for years without experiencing this gem of a place. This is THE stop for your retro gaming needs. I’ve searched for a proper Wii game without luck, until walking into this time portal. CALL AHEAD! Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Drove up from Arkansas to hunt for classic games in Chicago and my home state, greeted by the sign saying they will not open the door unless you call ahead. Turned around and got back in the car and left. Huge waste of time since you may not notice that info if, like me, you are passing through every store in the area and not double checking for unusual rules under the Google maps info or several images in.

Fantastic experience: Battlebox is my go-to for nostalgic gaming consoles! Purchased a PSP in 2018; PS2 in 2024; exact same customer service! Consistency is key -- Bryant does that well. Psp: had console; new charger cord; variety of games I like, etc.... Ps2: Silver SLIM ps2, clean; 2 new controllers, one matching silver; New cords, fresh Memory stick, AV to HDMI converter box; Every game I wanted, even repairing madden 12 before reseale!

Fantastic experience: What can I say? Downright beautiful experience, if not the best gaming bar and lounge, modern and retro video game shop I have ever seen/been to. Supports the locals, does in-house food, has a signature nacho plate I love, fun events, very supportive of the community, black nerd haven, brown need haven, I felt VERY welcome.in this establishment! Will be visiting again very soon!

Negative experience: Owner likes to publicly shame gamers for not liking modern woke games.

Fantastic experience: BattleBox is a great addition to the gaming community in Milwaukee. It’s a unique shop for all nerds and “blerds” alike. If you’re looking for anything video game related, old or new, definitely give Battle a call! His shop is clean, organized and filled with a great collection of games and even figurines. If you’re looking for something in particular, give him a call and he will have it ready to go when you arrive. Also, be sure to call when you arrive at shop so he can let you in since it’s a pre-arranged transaction. The Battle Lounge next door is also a great and safe place to come and have some drinks, dance, make friends and have fun! Battle is a great guy, and cares a lot about the community. Definitely an alternative to GameStop and a great way to support a local business!

Fantastic experience: Definitely a staple in the “Blerd” community. I always find rare games, collectibles, and figurines at The Battlebox. He has such a wide variety of products it’s a hidden gem in Milwaukee for sure. The Battle Lounge attached to the shop always hosts amazing events ranging from karaoke, anime nights with special ramen, to cosplay, as well as tournaments to compete for fun, prizes and glory. The Battle Lounge also serves a whole menu of video game themed specialty drinks! I met a lot of good friends who were into the same interests I have, which is rare to find in an urban setting. Place is truly one-of-a-kind, and I highly recommend checking it out, or following their page on Facebook for upcoming events. Just be sure to call first before stopping by the shop so he can personally have your items you’re looking for set aside and ready to go while you browse for anything else.

Negative experience: Absolutely amazing collection of items, but... ...you absolutely have to call ahead as he will chastise you for showing up to his public business without an appointment (he did this to two guys who showed up while I was there). Once you DO get inside, everything is priced at a minimum of 20% above full retail, some handhold consoles a full 33% above value. Nothing is marked with a price, he just throws them out off of the top of this head. On top of this, he was putting down the game selections that the other customers were looking for in his store. No chance I'll ever go back. If you want to look at a bunch of cool, overpriced items, make an appointment and waste his time as much as he wasted mine.

Fantastic experience: Not a traditional game store, but not in a bad way. As others say, items are not priced and you need to call to be let in, but neither of these things were issues for me. I asked for a copy of Pokemon Black, and Battle gave me a reasonable price. I also walked out with a Pikachu GBA SP. Battle has an incredible collection and runs the store solo, so I totally get his policies. He was incredibly friendly to me when we chatted about games, life, and running a business. I will definitely be back! He also does an awesome reward program for students. Each time students bring in a report card, they receive a $5 off token. If they can save up four tokens, the $20 value doubles to $40. As a teacher, I think this is an awesome thing to do to academically support students. Battle even gave me a $5 off coupon for teaching the youth. The store was clean, well organized, and overall an awesome experience. As long as you’re respectful and understand what you’re going into, I definitely recommend Battlebox!

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible customer service with Ian, they sent me ans charged me 2x for battlebox 108, they didn't even want pull my account to see this mistake but to ensure it I was asked to send photos of both the boxes. I wish I could post photos here. -10/10

Negative experience: I visited the store a while ago but the memory is still sour and annoying. I didn't mind that you needed to call ahead as he stated the area is a bit sketchy so take that what you will. however I would not call this a store but rather a club that so happens to have games that may or may not be for sale. if you are going there you need to know for sure that they have the products you want as the owner does not want you to stay there for longer then 10 minutes or even less. the owner also talks down to you and has a very abrasive personality when say asking about game prices or console prices. if you even remotely look stunned or show any ounce of surprise you are reprimanded. a lot of the prices are ebay listings (expensive as all hell). again I would not call this a store but rather a club that has a guy who may let you purchase games but even then that is a hard no. I do not why this has a listing as a retro game store when it clearly isn't and other reviews say otherwise

Fantastic experience: I was visiting town and decided to check out Battle Box. I wasn't familiar with their business model but the owner took time out his busy day to explain to me how the are different from other game stores. I think this business is genius and is truly doing some amazing events for the community. I take multiple trips to the Milwaukee area in summer and I guarantee I'll check out what Battle Box is doing every time I'm here. Thanks so much Battle and I wish you the best!!!

Negative experience: I’ve been here once and let me tell you it’s a cool collection sure! But how are normal people that love games that want to stop at your store that haven’t been before know to call before coming!!! To me that is a joke! If you also don’t want people to touch ur collection put signs up! Don’t yell at people when they want to look at the disk or the case! I did buy a few things and was told if I’m ever looking for something to email him. Well still waiting on that email back! It’s been a year! More power to the guy! I hope he’s doing well but keep the gaming store different from the club side of things!

Fantastic experience: Very nice and helpful, had an amazing selection! A good balance of toys, games, and systems. Lots of cool retro things too. The owner was incredibly helpful and knowledgable. Please be sure to call beforehand though as the owner is often busy during the day! I felt very safe while shopping because of the locked door policy.

Negative experience: I’d leave less stars if I could. Hours are posted not only on the website but also on google and the store itself, BUT apparently taking a lunch and closing up early is more important than the possibility of customers. Definitely would not recommend going. And the fact that we have to call ahead before showing up is a joke if it’s only posted on the stores door.

Negative experience: horrible experience, has plenty to look at but you can’t touch or really look at anything. No prices marked, goes off eBay prices and looks it up right next to you. If you wanna visit you need to make an appointment, as it’s more of a club. Some of the stores locked away behind a giant glass wall, stuff lying around on the floor, and he has a hard time of actually letting go to sell the game you want. Kept asking if I’d return the game when I’m done with it. I wouldn’t recommend this store, I suggest going to makecents instead.

Gamers, action figures, selling or buying, vintage, hard to find things. You have never seen a store like this guys! This store puts 5 stars to shame more like 10 stars a must stop experience!!!

He came to the Froedtert hospital, where my lil' brother is being treated (for stage 4 pancreatic cancer) and brought him the memory card he purchased. Negative experience: Owner is terrible with customer service! I have tried three times to get help with finding certain games or even the ability to stop in to see the selection and have been placed on long holds or rushed off the phone each time. I still haven’t received the help I needed from them. I NEVER write reviews so sir if you see this you need to adjust your customer service skills or potentially lose more customers.

Negative experience: Great selection, but incredibly disorganized. Only guy in the store was on his phone the whole time and when we finally got a chance to ask him about prices of games in his case he couldn't give us a direct answer before picking up a phone again. After getting off that call he goes on a rant about how EVERY guy sells all of his video game collection when he gets married... with two couple in the store, both of which the wives were looking at and talking about video games. Admitted to lying to customers, constantly swearing and incredibly loud.

Positive experience: Very cool collection. The way they ask for you to call is strange to me. I also thought the prices were too high. Cool items just nothing I thought was a good price.

Fantastic experience: Great store! The Owner is a very intelligent and nice guy,; he is willing to help anyone with anything from video games to science questions and anything in between. He is a very honest dude, will never try to rip anyone off and in fact will go out of his way to make sure his customers get the best deal and best service possible. The store has a call ahead policy which helps keep down rude customers and helps with keeping the store a kid friendly environment. All in all, I would give this store a 25/5 stars if I could. I am sure everyone else would do the same (provided the customer follows the rules)

Negative experience: Stopped in here from out of town. Had to call the shop and was asked to park in the shop's parking lot (so the security camera could watch me) before even being allowed to enter the store. It was very off-putting to a new customer. The shop owner then explained to me how the store "works" and tried to convince me it is the reason why his business is doing so well. I didnt even question him on the rules, nor did I really care, I just wanted to waste some time and look at some video games. While the shop did have a really nice collection of games including some rare stuff, none of the games or other items had any price tags so I had no idea what I could afford. I was also told not to touch any thing and that even a game box would be grabbed off the shelf for me. Some of the "collection" was even behind a glass wall including boxed Sega genesis and Sega CD games which customers were not allowed to look at up close. I ended up leaving without purchasing anything. Afterwards I was so put off by the whole thing I had to write this review. It seems to me it's just the shop owner's collection and he has a business behind it to sell and trade. There's also a "members only" portion of the store which just sounded like a club for the owner's friends. Casual buyers beware - this place is a hard pass.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely phenomenal store with a fantastic owner who is passionate about gaming and collectables. I was looking around for some N64 games and controllers and was not liking the options for purchasing online, lots of fakes and unreliable controllers, expensive shipping, ordering from multiple sellers, etc., that's when I found The Battlebox. 100 times cooler than Gamestop, prices on par with purchasing online/@Gamestop, but you get the massive benefit of seeing the merchandise in person, supporting a local business that makes it it's business to support the local neighborhood/youth, and spending time talking shop with the owner. He's a hilarious guy with the gift of gab, and really knows his stuff. Totally worth the trip and every penny. I was able to walk away with a couple of the games I was looking for, a new controller, and some great info about N64 specific collecting and gaming. I'm really looking forward to the pandemic ending and checking out the gaming lounge and bar areas they has set up in the same location. They run tournaments, events, etc out of the space and it's such a welcoming community I think I'd really enjoy it. Folks who didn't like the store experience are looking for a generic retail experience. Folks who felt items are overpriced don't understand collectables and accrued value, this is quality merchandise at a fair price for authentic defect free goods available on hand, with a great customer experience to boot. *CALL BEFORE YOU GO!*

Negative experience: This place would have been cool if I could have seen and the lights were on. It was so dark I could hardly see anything I’d love to go back after covid and maybe it will be brighter and more pleasurable

Positive experience: Great store don't get me wrong, but for the prices I'd expect the consoles and games to be in better condition. Even though it's upcharge I got what I wanted same day.

Negative experience: Awesome selection and variety, however customer service and what the store owner said the store is in practice is confusing and off-putting. You have to call ahead. Then once there, you're pressured and almost talked down to. I wanted a used system. They wanted way more than fair price, but also was pressured to buy a system I didn't want. Once I was declining the purchase I was told that the store wasn't even a store, but a club and that I was lucky they even let me in to look. The whole experience made me want to never go back.

Fantastic experience: I've been doing business with Battle Box for a little while now and I must say it's always a great experience! This is a gamer's paradise! He never tries to sell you short or cheat you in anyway. Anything you need from the try to games to the newer consoles be has you covered! Love doing business here and will continue to do so!

I collect a lot of retro video games and he was very personable and friendly and easy to talk too. I went in there with my girlfriend the other day and walked out with a yellow game boy pocket that was decently priced. I can tell this is more than just a business to him. This is a man who is passionate about collecting who is looking to make some money with his hobbies. I have been looking for a store like this for a long time.
