And today I hit the holy grail card of a single pack. Hidden Block, I love you. Now if I could just work here, all dreams would really come true.

Positive experience: Finally came here on valentines day after hearing about it on tiktok months ago. Cashier who rang me up was very friendly. They have a pretty good selection of games for various consoles; including alot of vintage games as well. Certain games I felt like could've been priced a bit better. But overall a very cool game store to shop from and I will be back soon.

Fantastic experience: Great experience shopping here and trading in a variety of Switch games. The trade prices were fair, and staff responded quickly to the trade request. I liked that I received a text when the evaluation was done so that I didn't have to stand in one area. While waiting, I browsed the Pokemon singles in cases and found the section easy to navigate. Staff were friendly without being pushy, and they let me examine a card without issue. I used some of my trade credit for a card, and the staff gave me the rest of the credit on a card to use later. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: Hidden Block is the best game shop around in my opinion. Stock is great, staff is helpful if you have questions, and the location is plenty large enough to not feel too crowded to shop in while an event is in progress in their tabletop area. Speaking of which, Hidden Block has done a great job balancing their store area with card games and video games. Many game shops tend to lean into what makes them more money (card games). Prices are fair, slightly above or below market, depending on what system you're buying for. The cases are where the real treasures are at and they often have cool obscure stuff I haven't seen before. Their used consoles are a great value as well! I especially love how clean everything is here. All of the games are individually packaged in plastic so when you get home you don't have to clean them. Clearly the owners are passionate about videogames here and you love to see it.

One time he even forgot to text me that the last round was starting and the employees stayed late well past closing with him so that he didn't have to wait outside in the dark alone. Great people.

Fantastic experience: Retro Block Games is an excellent spot for anyone who loves classic Nintendo and retro gaming. Their selection is impressive—NES, SNES, GBA, N64, and a lot more. The store is extremely clean and well-organized, (the games are in ALPHABETICAL ORDER on the shelves and every game is displayed neatly, making it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. What really sets them apart is their quality control. They test, clean, and even replace batteries in retro games, which adds real value and peace of mind. Everything I’ve purchased has worked flawlessly. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about games. They also email a detailed receipt showing every item purchased by console, which is great for collectors who keep track of their collections. Prices are slightly higher than eBay, but the condition, testing, and reliability absolutely justify it. Just know going in: they do not barter. Think of them like the CarMax of games—fair prices, but not negotiable. If you’re hunting for cheap deals, this isn’t the place. But if you’re a serious collector looking for specific titles in great condition, this store is perfect. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Best card shop I have ever been to. I went looking for some cards to collect and I found 95% of all cards. They have a lot of cards for for whatever TCG you need. They also have a lot of old retro video games and consoles plus action figures service. Very nice (review by child 9 year old)

Negative experience: I brought in a large amount of vintage Pokemon cards and asked for an appraisal. About 40 holos, 50-100 first addition commons and uncommon and a large binder of commons, uncommon, non-holo rare. It took about an hour and a half and They offered me 200$ store credit. I asked how they valued the cards, they pointed to the large binder and said “these are all bulk worth less than $0.25” I open to the first page and pointed to the first card and said “how much is this card?” (I knew it was worth 11.99 on the market, because I had looked up the value of every card and knew there are dozens of cards worth more than 5$ in the large binder) they responded with “oh, we can add that to your total” this person clearly did not look through the cards and appraise them at all, and then threw out a low ball number hoping I did not know the price of what I have. They said most of my holos were “heavily damaged” and worth 0.25 cents. Market value for a PSA 1 for some of those cards is over 10$. One of my cards is a 1st edition slow king that sells for a PSA 1 of 100$ and this one is in decent condition and has a great swirl. the first 5 cards have a market value of more than they offered total. I said these have not been properly appraised and the employee responded with “I’m sorry you feel that way”…..it is not how I feel, when I’m told a card is worth less than 25 cents and the market says 11.99, and that was the first card in the binder, then they were not properly appraised. They also would not allow me to watch them appraise the cards, they did it in the back, which seemed very odd. I’ve had a lot of appraisals done with cards before and they always did it right in-front of me. I would not recommend selling cards here. I added pictures of cards that were in the binder that they said were worth less than 25 cents and the actual market value. These are just three of dozens of cards they did not actually look at and tried to basically steal them from me. The look on the personas face when I said “I have personally looked up the value of every card here” was the look of someone who got their hand caught in the cookie jar

Fantastic experience: I went here recently with my partner after a suggestion online to check out the store, we had previously not realized how close it was. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and were able to help me find a game in stock in their system as well as located it in store with me that I was able to purchase. Their pricing is also very fair compared to other shops I have seen. More than happy with this shop and staff and ecstatic to come again soon.

However, I did make a decent size purchase and I was very happy with the service I got from the employees. I'd definitely recommend checking out this place if you're in the area.

Negative experience: It's a fairly small shop, but my biggest complaint is that it's in a newly-gentrified shopping center on the edge of the hood. I almost hate to say it, but it is what it is. Total sketch.

Negative experience: Very low trade rate to very high end cards. Dishonesty when discussing market values for trade. Lied about recent sales on ebay. Rude and unwilling to work with you.

Positive experience: The store in general is awesome, great selection of video games, trading cards, and anime merch. They offer new releases of pokemon at MSRP which is unheard of and an awesome contribution to the community. We think the scene has overwhelmed them a bit. Every time we go in there's one half of the staff that are welcoming and helpful and another half that seem jaded, over it, and just gives a holier than thou vibe which I think is unintentional but you notice it regardless. My partner and I just want to feel welcome and we dont feel like that every time we visit.

Negative experience: Very low trade in value then they sell things above market value by sometimes $50 or more.

Positive experience: They have a nice selection of video games, trading cards, and nerd paraphernalia. My only complaint is that the shelving layout makes it too tight to comfortably browse the video game walls if the store is busy - which it has been both times I have visited.

The prices are always what TCGplayer shows and if they are higher they are willing to match TCGplayer. They always give me a break down of my trade when asked, and the events they hold always give good prizing when distribution lets them. Great store to go

Fantastic experience: I am in this shop multiple times a week every week. The staff here really cares about folks and the hobbies they carry. If you need retro games/systems, Pokemon/one piece singles, or anything of the like. There is NO WHERE better in the triangle than Hidden block games

Negative experience: Price gouging at its finest $695 for 151 ETB. All of the other items are way above market value as well. Walked right out.

Fantastic experience: This is probably my favorite video game shop in the Triangle. I appreciate their curation of games; everything I've ever gotten from here has been CIB with minimal signs of wear. I also like how they'll have a little plastic sleeve over all the games in the retail space to keep the cases from being smudged or damaged while on display. I always found the prices fair and the service to be great as well.

Negative experience: Brought in $400 worth of items and was offered $45. For reference, I went to gamestop after and they offered more. I brought in a ps4 which they sell for $120, a ps3 which they sell for $120, a factory sealed ps3 controller that goes for $120-$150 all day on ebay. Plus a couple other factory sealed odds and ends. They were not in need of more ps4s, so they turned that down. Without the ps4 that is still an offer that is 16% of market value. I wasn’t rude when I declined, but I won’t be selling to them again. Don’t let them down play this in the response.

Positive experience: I like coming here to purchase cards, but I'm knocking a star off because it actually smells like body odor in there, and even the employees smell like stinky sweat when they were helping me get some cards from the displays... Please mgmt, tell your employees to shower and put on deodorant.

Negative experience: Be careful of their deceptive business practices - won’t answer questions about trading in telling you that they won’t discuss policies over phone to only have you come in and turn you away.

Fantastic experience: A damn fine video game store. Never have I seen such attention to detail in cleaning and organization! Staff was awesome and super informed! Every SINGLE game in there is immaculately cleaned and put in lil' bags to keep em' perfect, and there are cases for the extra rare goodies. It's the perfect blend of otaku-paradise and gamer-dreamland. 14/10 would definitely go back and it's a 10 hour drive ️

Fantastic experience: Excellent store. Very busy when I got there, people buying trading and selling. I was able to get someone's help finding the vintage section very quickly and they even priced out some recently acquired vintage for me on the spot. They had an enormous selection of singles and some great cards, and while I don't know much about the modern sets they did have four vintage holos in their set for great price. Some of the bulk singles were a little aggressively priced but out of 40 singles both me and Hidden Block had some wins, and and I think that's what we all want out of any trading card experience.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to say how appreciative I am at how Hidden Block has handled the latest Pokemon releases. While other stores in the area are raising prices to scalper levels, Hidden Block has committed to selling at MSRP and it's greatly appreciated by the collector and player community. They are now my go-to local place to grab packs and single cards to fill my binder and build decks.

Fantastic experience: Was my first time there today, I was impressed with the amount of items they had! I was able to get myself japanese packs, and found a couple japanese and english cards that needed assistance, I also found cards I been looking for in the drawers with the other cards! I will be coming back in the near future. I am very happy with the collection I managed to get boltund is a prime example of who I manage to look for! I love all the cards I had gotten.

Fantastic experience: Their store is clean, organized, and carries a wide range of videogames (including Imports) and TCG stuff. They price their products fairly and also buy at fair prices as well. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Just moved to the area and will be a routine customer here. Keep up the great work.

Negative experience: Brought in easily more than 30 rare pokemon cards and two mint rainbow sparkle cards to be offered $7 for my whole lot. Seven dollars. What an insult. I mean seriously mustard goes for $7 minimum everywhere I have seen him… they said they use TCG to price so why is my whole lot worth one card? Actually ridiculous.

They had games, cards, collectibles, etc. They even had some cool snacks to try from other countries! I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Positive experience: Really enjoy this store and the new location is a prime spot with much more space and traffic. That being said Ive had some issues with this store. You will not get a fair trade value no matter what you consider offering them. They state very bluntly that they pay 50% value for your stuff. Which isnt horrible, but that is the MOST you will get. Getting offered 60% of the value of a rare game is insane. Which ties into the next problem. They NEVER have sales. I understand it is a small store, but there is no way to get a discount here. Doesnt matter how much you buy. Ive spent thousands with them and acquired some nice stuff. But when I asked if I could save a couple dollars by paying cash they said "This is a business and we pay taxes." Very confusing, because you dont pay taxes on the trade-ins though. The last problem I have is half the store is Pokemon cards. Which is completely fine, and draws most of their foot traffic. But the store is super hyped about investing in Pokemon that they miss opportunities to promote/invest into heavy games that come into the store. Its always a random guess as to what they have on a given day. Which can be fun in its own way. Dont mean to sound all negative, but had better experiences when they were in the other location. Still time to improve though. EDIT: So not only was my original review vindicated, I had a rather negative experience when testing my trade credit theory with a substantial trade in. I had a little over 30 games to trade in with about 10 of them being modern titles(PS5,XSX,Switch). As well as a bunch of Limited Run stuff worth a couple hundred and the rest was a bunch of SEALED last gen games(PS4, Xbox, PS3, Dreamcast). Keep in mind that I wanted around $300 STORE CREDIT(50%) for these items valued over double that. So I come in with my big box of stuff, greeted by one of their friendly staff who glances over it and says "Oh yeah we would definitely be interested in taking this, especially the newer titles". So they run the newer titles(which is about 7 of the 33+ games) and offer me $120. That was great and I was immediately happy with being offered about 60%(as I estimated in my original review) for those. I ask about the other 20+ games; and before I can finish getting an estimate with the employee, the manager walks over. He introduced himself and said something along the lines of: "Im not sure if the other employee explained the situation to you of how we handle lesser value trade. I can make you an offer for the rest of the games(sealed LRG,PS4, Xbox), but you probably wont like the number I give you. Generally Limited Run, Xbox, PS4(keeps listing the other games in the box) dont sell as well here" I was kind of taken aback by that comment given that I was already half-way to my goal and still had 25 or so games to trade valued at around $300 anyway. So I figure okay im like $180 away from the target amount, as long as I get half that $300 value it should be fine. He comes back and says the best offer for everything is $200(meaning he valued the $300 in games at $80 trade). I immediately was turned off from the trade. I asked if they could do $280 store credit total(45% trade) and they refused. Saying that is the absolute best. Keep in mind that I was going to use that credit right there in the store. So not only did I walk out with all my games, I was able to trade them for $320 CASH($420 Store Credit) at playntrade. Not before they roughly handled my games during the entire process. The irony of the replies from the owner here stating they do better than the pawn stores 35% and then offering me less than 33% was almost too unbelievable. I still like the store, but havent felt the want to spend money there after that so far. Especially considering that even gamestop has a better trade value than that.

Fantastic experience: I've done quite a dozen video game & collectible figure trades here over the last couple years since I moved to Cary. I can say that their trade-ins are always fair, with very kind and energetic staff who are customer-focused. Love shopping here and will continue to support them and the events they host!

Fantastic experience: Amazing shop. This is a very, very specific story but I think it says a lot. They got a slew of Pokemon Prismatic Evolutions boxes and they sold them all at MSRP and limited one per customer. My kids have been talking about this set for a couple of months and only because of this policy was I able to grab them a few packs on release day (it sold out instantly everywhere). I was too late for an ETB but grabbed a binder with five packs for $30. Later in the day I got an email from a card shop in the area advertising the same box for $59.95. You've made a customer for as long as you are around, Hidden Block Games. Aside from that, they have a ton of great video games at super reasonable prices. I've shopped there a few times, buying a system and a bunch of games across different consoles and never had any issues.

Positive experience: I have been a customer since their old location. The shop is great and I can always find something to pick up. Unfortunately, today was the 2nd time I went home and realized I was charged a few extra dollars more than my items were priced. My mistake for not catching it, but I put a lot of trust in this business. If buying single cards, just be mindful everything is added correctly when checking out. I will still support and recommend this shop, but I'm a little frustrated if this was done intentionally.

Fantastic experience: Probably the best LCS in raleigh hands down. All the staff are super kind and always attentive to the customers. It’s definitely the most fairly priced LCS as far as singles and sealed products are concerned. Make sure you follow them on instagram and go to their block parties, they are so much fun.

Negative experience: Just bought a game earlier today and got home opened up their packaging to find literally no game in the case! Will not be returning to this store! Really like how do you not check your products. I had been really wanting this game and went to this store based on recommendations but this is sad. I have never written reviews before but this was absolutely worthy of it. I may be over stepping or maybe the staff was lazy in there checking. But for everyone else who decides to shop here open your games the second you pay for them right there in the store because I’m sure they will have zero care after you leave. It’s disheartening I have to say it but that’s the reality. Please learn from my experience!

Positive experience: Only problem I had with the shop is the prices of the singles are just way too high. They price them according to the grade they believe it would receive. Similarly with their CGC 9.5’s. Can’t price them at a 10 if they aren’t. Shouldn’t be how it works but other than that, the shop is good

Fantastic experience: I visited their store a couple months ago and was pretty amazed by the sheer variety of stuff they have to offer. It’s really a paradise if you love video games, animanga, card games, you name it. The trade-in values are super fair, it’s well-worth selling your stuff here rather than a big name place. Cant wait to come back again.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I have been to hidden block games so many times and every time we have a beautiful time. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They recently helped me pick out an adapter for our N64 so we could play our new banjo kazooie game (also purchased at hidden blocks). We enjoy the great events they put on like the block party. Sometimes we even go in before or after dinner or the gym just to peruse the store.
