Pink Gorilla Games International District: Reviews
Positive experience: Great selection of old games and consoles to Nes to semi-modern like Xbox 360
Fantastic experience: Would knock off half a star only because of the area but the actual store and workers are great. Just wish the area didn't have do many homeless people around. With that said I think its still worth checking out
Fantastic experience: Super selection of used consoles and games ,some new they have hardware and controllers as well as Pokemon cards cool and knowledgeable staff.10 out of 10
Fantastic experience: Came in today and Keagan (Keegan?) helped me out with finding the correct DS charger for me! I didn’t remember the type of DS I was shopping for, and he did some excellent detective work and set me up with the right one. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I popped up there the other day to find this really old obscure game. I talked to this guy named Tim and he was able to direct me to the University location and that had the game and they were also great. They gave me a whole $30 but they didn’t go to Amazon.
Positive experience: Honestly if this store were just a little bigger it would be on par with the Capital Hill location. The worker that helped me out was so kind and helpful. They also have games that you typically wouldn't find despite being the smallest location.
Fantastic experience: Fabulous customer service, excellent experience. Look forward to enjoying my purchase.
Positive experience: Been to both the u district store and Chinatown when visiting back home. They're pretty cool retro stores. My gripe is they market tshirts but don't actually have any in stock. Or they only have smalls. Which is fine for people who wear small. But medium, large and xl are probably more common. My suggestion would be to either not sell tshirts or have a more varied inventory.
Fantastic experience: These guys are super cool and super helpful on helping pick out games... I love the store the way it's set up, always a great experience
Fantastic experience: Very friendly employees =)
Fantastic experience: We had a blast exploring the huge selection of games and checking out the quirky clothing and novelty items. The atmosphere was lively and the staff were friendly, making our visit smooth and enjoyable! We'll definitely return for more fun
Fantastic experience: Quality selection, the employees are all very knowledgeable, best customer service ever. Both English and Japanese games available.
Fantastic experience: Awesome retro game store! I didn't purchase anything but my experience was good. I was greeted upon entering the store and there was a nice selection of games and electronics. It made me want to whip out my old guitar hero controller!
Fantastic experience: My brother enjoyed visiting this store? It was very interesting and cool!
Fantastic experience: I love this place! I used to live across the street, so i would go check them out at least once a week. All the staff was very nice and Knowledgeable! Kelsey and John are both super cool and nice! I have been to the Capital Hill or the Vegas store yet, but the U-District store is just as great! I've never had a single experience there that didn't start and end on a positive note!
Fantastic experience: Got a new copy of Super Mario Sunshine here. Great price
Fantastic experience: This was such a cool random find! I was walking by when I saw the sign for it and decided to stop in. There is such a cool collection of old and recent games as well as plushies and collectables. The staff was super friendly and helpful, being the tourist I am I asked for any recommendations and was given so many cool things to check out. Ended up buying two sets of Pokemon cards (they have a good selection) and a little figurine to take home. Totally worth stopping by if you're in the area!
Fantastic experience: Great company, great employees. Every once in a while I make the trip just for them. Wish their inventory was online.
Fantastic experience: Great video game store! This one is a bit smaller and has less selection then the one in U-District, but it has a very high quality selection of games at good prices. Awesome staff as well and the store has a very nice layout. Ended up buying Madden 05' for the DS. Great store in the area!
Fantastic experience: Came in to do trade ins on some DS games I hadn't played in awhile, and had brought them with me all the way from Virginia, because I know Pink Gorilla's reputation for being exceptional. Also I was planning a vacation out in Washington anyhow, but that's beside the point. I forget the name of the fellow who helped me, but he was thorough and clearly knew what he was doing, while also helping other customers. He made sure I knew it might take some time, and offered to contact me later if I needed to leave, but I didn't have any other plans for awhile, and wanted to browse what I would spend the store credit on anyhow. Great variety of interesting items, and they make sure to note that the save battery has been replaced in an older game, as expected since one of the owners worked with the Video Game History Foundation. If I'm ever in Seattle again, I'll be certain to stop by.
Fantastic experience: Great retro store , really nice guy inside
Fantastic experience: I came from santa barbara CA California too Visit the store and i like it found some cool retro games for my retron 5 too play and my experience here was solid the guys up in the front We’re super friendly The place and the vibe was cool. I would recommend this place. I just wish i could Visit their bigger location
Positive experience: Very, very small store and seemed to mainly have vintage games only.
Fantastic experience: Very cool place to come too, great vibe and nice staff!! would come again
Fantastic experience: Has a really great and wide selection of games here. I went both to this one and the one in the University District in the span of 2 days, questionable behavior I know but it was absolutely worth it. These stores are absolutely packed with retro games, reminds me a lot of game stores in Akihabara (but cheaper), not just because of the towers and towers of games, but also because of how many imports they have. Staff were very friendly and pointed out that I was buying the Japanese imports just to make absolutely sure, and overall the prices were pretty good, probably because the games I bought were all in Japanese, but I'd still say it was absolutely worth it. And yes they sell games in English too, like a lot more games in English than in Japanese, but it's just nice to find this many Japanese imports somewhere.
Positive experience: An OK store but really lacks a lot of the products the Pink Gorilla's have. Anytime I've been here the selection is a either rare stuff at crazy prices (saw EarthBound today for $250/$350 about). I'd probably suggest checking the other locations if you can make the trip.
Fantastic experience: Good inventory and a nice clean store. Friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: I've been coming to pink gorilla since I moved to Seattle and I could only say great things about my experience overall. Their inventory is amazing, always rotating, and it keeps me coming back to see what's new and what the staff recommends. Everyone that works at any of the locations have been knowledgeable and willing to help. I couldn't recommend this place more! Will always be 5 stars in my book.
Negative experience: Honestly I'm surprised there still in business with there extremely poor customer service. Great place to visit if you wanna leave upset
Fantastic experience: Great quality games and selection, friendly workers, and always something new to find. You can also ask if there's anything over at the other Pink Gorilla if you're looking for something specific. Lots of stuff for older AND new consoles. Got some replacements for N64 cords and a few Xbox one games at the same time. Check this place out if you like retro game stores!!
Negative experience: Store looks really interesting but I don't believe it should negatively impact nearby businesses. Employees are yelling loudly with one another even when no customers are present. Maybe keep the entry door closed?
Fantastic experience: Great selection of NTSC as well as foreign-releases, well-labeled sections, reasonable pricing as well as cute little pieces of merch for the store itself! I got my wife a little pink whale pin. Adorable. I plan on visiting again the next time I’m in the area!
Fantastic experience: Great store! I was looking for a Pokemon Gangar plush. Searched everywhere. Luckily we found it at this store for a good price. Very happy that we got a Gangar for our child. Excellent customer service as well.
Positive experience: Cool but small store. Good selection of retro games. Wish they had more merch/ apparel options. I would’ve spent a lot of money on that stuff more so than vintage games.
Fantastic experience: This. Place. Is. Awesome!! Amazing atmosphere, and amazing deals!! The security cases will make you cry, because those are the top games you're looking for and they're likely to be 150 dollars. However, I'm sure you'll find something you'll love here no matter what console you use. This one is bigger than the one on Capitol Hill too, so visit this one first.
Fantastic experience: My 12 yo son and i stumbled across this shop as we were wandering around the neighborhood. Jordan (possibly the store manager?) was outstanding, very patiently and deftly answering my endless questions about a variety of vintage Japanese anime shows; directing me to the nearby Uwajimaya/Kinokuniya for Japanese groceries and books/stationery; and even forgoing an immediate sale to direct me to Pink Gorilla's Capitol Hill/University locations that have larger stock. His combination of genuine friendliness, passion/expertise around his wares and dedication to customer service were really refreshing. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Fantastic experience: Super awesome place! Great staff and cool merchandise!
Fantastic experience: Great place for all your retro game needs highly recommended, nice staff fair prices, consoles and everything you need.
Fantastic experience: This location is on the smaller side, but they had some games I had been searching for, and the staff was very friendly over the phone in assisting me to find particular games.
Fantastic experience: Good selection. One of the best places to buy Japanese games.
Fantastic experience: Awesome, clean store with a huge selection, really raising the bar for gaming stores. Jordan and Jess were super friendly and answered all my questions. I’m new to Seattle so this was such an amazing find.
Positive experience: Great place, lot's of games to check out. They didn't have what I was looking for, but definitely had a lot to choose from. Definitely worth stopping by to see if they have what you're looking for.
Fantastic experience: Great location! Great people! A wide variety of consoles and games. You can also find plushes and amiibos here. Great retrogaming store!
Fantastic experience: Very kind and helpful staff. Decent selections and cool store.
Negative experience: There game selection is pretty trashy, kelsey lewin sucks. Other retro stores are much better than this place. It used to be a great store until ownership switched hands.
Fantastic experience: The owner was very helpful with suggesting some places to visit around the area. The retro games and hardware brought back a lot of great memories!
Fantastic experience: Customer service was great both employees have knowledge on how to care for games and anything else you need to know store is a little small but besides that great place get retro games and consoles
Negative experience: This store is pretty slim pickens and everything is over priced by 200%....$20 for a tiny little Kuromi Keychain plush... robbery!
Negative experience: Nothing worse than buying a PS4 pro and they give the wrong cord. Time is money, no future business from me. Gamers should know better. It's. It's cheaper to buy the cord on Amazon than traveling back to store location on public transport
Sorry about that. Come on by for a replacement any time.
Positive experience: Great condition stuff, lots of selection, but the kind of pricing that doesn't at all surprise you brick and mortar retail is dead.
Fantastic experience: Coolest video game store in Seattle. I was fortunate to come by this place on a recent trip to Seattle. They have games for every system you can think. Friendly staff, happy to help when I had a couple questions. I ended up the charging cable I needed and a couple nintendo switch games. I cant wait to go back.
Negative experience: That guy that says he's the manager is pretty agro. 0/10 do not recommend
Fantastic experience: Great staff, very knowledgeable and more than willing to help, Awesome selection of retro games.
Fantastic experience: Really cool store with super friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Fantastic experience: This branch has the best service, the staff is friendly and attentive and this is the only store so far where I have been able to get Zelda Amiibos, and I even got the la test Amiibo from TOTK!
Positive experience: They have a great selection of retro games, game consoles, accessories, and merchandise at reasonable prices, as well as very friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: This is my favorite place in Seattle. I love how knowledgeable and friendly the staff are. They always have a suggestion for a new game. For such a small place, there's a lot to choose from. So many games on every console you can think of. Been going here for years and never had a game malfunction. Everything here is tested before sold. 10/10 if you love retro gaming this place is a must see.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and a well organized shop. Not a huge selection but most of the stuff was fairly priced and was in good condition. Definitely worth a stop if you need things for your collection.
Fantastic experience: Customer service was great, and they had a decent selection. Got myself a couple of AC plushies while I was there.
Fantastic experience: Lots of games and gaming-related merchandise here. The man working seemed nice. I can't intelligently speak to whether the prices were fair, but it was fun looking at the retro stuff.
Fantastic experience: Nice selection of games and a lot of nostalgia while walking through! I loved it!
Fantastic experience: Great store with all kinds of new and classic games and consoles. They also offer fare trades for your old games.
Positive experience: Closest thing you'll get to GameStop in the downtown/South Seattle area. Lots of vintage consoles and games. Felt a little low balled on the stuff I sold to the shop, but it's a local business and we should all support local.
Fantastic experience: GREAT shop! You have good options for stuffed animals, old school games, modern games, controllers, oh yea! Let's support this local shop! I am DEFINITELY coming back!
Positive experience: Great used game store. Small location, so limited selection.
Fantastic experience: Games are now available online and on smartphones But that's what games are all about There are many games that I was passionate about when I was in elementary school. The game reminds me of my past life
Fantastic experience: Love this place, I originally came looking for a couple games ended up leaving with the system I've been looking for an insanely reduced price. I've witnessed the customer service there go above and beyond and some of the best prices I've seen.
Positive experience: Extemely limited selection. Pictures online make it look bigger than it is. Inside is cramped and claustrophobic, they have a decent selection of old console games but nothing unique. I went expecting and left wanting. The staff is friendly and seemed to know what they have, it just isn't very much.
Fantastic experience: Small selection but a very knowledgeable and friendly staff! Would go again!
Negative experience: As part of a group of people that were excited to find this store while visiting Seattle - we were quite disappointed by the lack of service/experience. Not even when we all entered, were any one of us greeted, or asked if we needed help finding things throughout the browsing. The 2 guys in the shop just looked at us- then went back to their conversation behind the counter the entire time. One by one we all ended up leaving the store unimpressed. The variety of selection was pretty good And cleanliness was as expected for a retail establishment. Prices on games were more expensive than deals you may find online, but that could have been easily counterbalanced and made worthwhile - if the store had good service to match the instant gratification of buying in store.
Fantastic experience: Good customer service and helpful staff. A good selection of retro and new video games. They buy old games for a ok price. I go there when I can.
Fantastic experience: I live in u district and frequent that pink gorilla location so I decided to visit the international branch and I was happy to see that they have a great selection check it out
Fantastic experience: I was really happy to finally get to Pink Gorilla for retro games. I picked up some psOne games for a great price.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and a good place to pick up some used video games at a fairly decent price. Would recommend for people looking for used games.
Fantastic experience: Just went there today purchased a NintendoDS and a FinalFantasy game. Very friendly and helpful people there, I can feel the passion of the storekeeper who served me. I would strongly recommend retro game lovers to go to. :)
Positive experience: Good products, great selection! I think someone bought out their good inventory before I visited but they usually keep good stock. They perform services that not many game stores do like replacing batteries on games or minor repairs. It helps their brand stand out they didnt have tap to pay at this location so I didnt get to buy anything this time, but maybe next time!
Fantastic experience: I got a game I've been looking for for a while. Japanese version of Kirby 64. Cool shop, not bad prices.
Fantastic experience: Best prices on used consoles and used games that I've ever seen! 5 stars!
Fantastic experience: Has a wide range of retro games and paraphernalia, for several consoles. The store is sort of small, and there isn't a ton of very modern stuff, but you may find *your* hidden gem here, and the staff I spoke to was clearly passionate about their work. I'm happy with my purchase and my experience.
Fantastic experience: Either this store (ID) or their UD (university district) store are my go to spots for anything and everything retro video games. Never had a bad experience at either location and they know their stuff. Their prices are the best I've been able to find for some of the stuff I'm looking for in a retro shop. Definitely recommend if you are looking for nostalgia or those older games to put back on your gaming shelf. Edit: plushies and cute Keychains are also sold here for those that want that. In the image I purchased that charmander. I finally decided to get a replacement sega genesis that I haven't had for over 27 years. Best price I've seen them go for as well.
Fantastic experience: Helpful shop keeps. Games and accessories from different time periods. Bring on the nostalgia. Got a used game that wasn't released too long ago at a great price. Thanks for being around for us game playing folks.
Fantastic experience: Love this place! Got the hook up with a CIB sega saturn for a fair price. Thanks pink gorilla
Fantastic experience: Really great place for retro games! Old consoles are surprisingly affordable and the game prices are alright. High demand games are a little expensive though so keep that in mind.
Positive experience: Descent prices but lacked in size and variety of other retro video game stores. Store vibes were very much welcoming but made you feel cramped on how small the location is. The university store has more room but lacks the quality of game this store has. Its still worth a visit.
Fantastic experience: Really good selection of old best selling games in stock for amazing prices compared to the corporate game resellers. Will definitely come again
Positive experience: Small store, but good selection and takes advantage of their space very well. An employee however was having an annoying and impassioned monologue about the merits of modern day marvel comics vs the classic "golden age" and it sounded like he was trying to be very high and mighty for no real reason. It was awkward and i left lol.
Fantastic experience: Cute little shop with great prices and selection. Lots of interesting games to explore and chat about eith friends even if you don't end up buying anything.
Negative experience: BUYERS BEWARE they don’t check the games if there work or not. So when I bought my game it didn’t read the disc
Fantastic experience: For all your retro game needs from Nintendo 64 up to Nintendo 3ds call them and they might have the game you're looking for
Fantastic experience: Awesome little shop for used games and merch. Staff is always super kind and helpful. Only place around for import digimon plush! The person working tonight even said he would ask the owners about stocking more plushies after he saw how excited I was about the agumon and patamon plushies I purchased. Will definitely be coming back for games and plushies.
Fantastic experience: Best place to get old school games always love my experience!
Fantastic experience: Cool little store with a friendly staff. The prices are very fair for a physical collection. It was cool to see a bunch of games from different regions with some still in box
Fantastic experience: I always stop in when I'm in town. Great selection and awesome people there!
Fantastic experience: Great store with a wide array of products/price ranges. Something for everyone if it's a family tourist stop. From collector's items to cheap games for all consoles or a plush for the smallest kid who just wants a souvenir. As a person who sold a lot of items to them, they pay a great rate for giving you money or credit on the spot. If you want a lot for your items, do the selling leg work online yourself and don't complain to them that you feel you should get more.
Fantastic experience: I wanted to visit and see this wonderful video game store! They have video games new and old and because they also have another Pink Gorilla on University big too far apart from eachother, you'll be able to see what they have at both stores!!!
Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff, owners, selection, and store. Do yourself a favor and stop in you will not regret it. Been a fan of the store for years, thank you guys for being awesome.
Fantastic experience: Great selection of Consoles, this where. I got my Ps1 a few days ago, it was great! No scratches or yellowing anywhere! Also I recently saw they were selling SNES consoles in box (I think)
Positive experience: Nice shop, pretty dingy location. Visited this one and the university district and the university location is far better and friendlier for people. I’m assuming it’s only looking worse because of the pandemic and all the lockdowns, but I was pretty afraid of walking in the mall it was in because of all of the graffiti and sketchy people around. Other than that it was a solid store experience, just if you’re coming here with kids I highly recommend going to university instead
Fantastic experience: Awesome place to find old classics and new things! There’s gaming trinkets, plushes, and very knowledgeable staff who are happy to help you out!
Positive experience: This video game reseller has quite a wide selection. You want to find rarer games for older systems, this is where to go. The good: They have a digital catalog between multiple stores of what they have in inventory. They offer a decent exchange rate for used games on older systems. The staff is polite and very knowledgeable. It's very easy to get to the store, being located quite close to the local bus stops. My only issue, and the only reason I'm not giving this place five stars: I have been approached by strangers asking for money every time I go out to that area.
