Pink Gorilla Games University District: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I've always had a good experience throughout the years
Fantastic experience: Rare, Retro and Imported Video games! This is hands down the best place for used games! I always swing by to check out what's new especially when I'm in the area. They always have a good selection of games and any given day there can be a new selection of used games so I like to come by as often as possible. I picked up a Pink Gorilla hoodie most recently to get that lifetime used game and accessories discount of 10% all the time and 20% on Fridays. There's more than just video games here. They also carry every type of gaming console including handhelds, magazines, controllers, and all types of other gaming equipment and gear you might just need. They even carry a large assortment of your favorite gaming plushies from Mario characters to Pokemon. They even carry Pokemon and Magic the gathering cards! If this store doesn't have what I need they're happy to check the system to see if one of the other locations has what I need. Even going as far as to deliver the item to this location making it very convenient. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable going above and beyond!
Fantastic experience: Got a stuffy there its ADORBS
Positive experience: Cool retro game spot they have a little bit of everything.
Fantastic experience: Cristian and Keegan are awesome, they helped me a ton with the Dreamcast I recently got, and were super fun to talk to. 11/10!!
Fantastic experience: Immensely helpful staff and incredible collection on offer here. Thanks for keeping the spark alive with physical games!
Fantastic experience: Let me say, if you want to buy games at a fair market price, this is the place to go. Their prices have always reflected the market even back in 2020 when prices were fluctuating heavily. Cody runs a great twitch channel and Kelsey does amazing work with video game preservation. Their consoles and controllers are always clean too. Thank you!
Negative experience: This location is by far the worst in Seattle. Had quite a few rude moments I noticed during my stop and it honestly almost made me not want to buy anything. Not only did I watch someone have to wait a few minutes before a group of employees stopped talking to each other but someone was selling games and the person taking them in was quite rude about it. Made sly comments about the condition of the games (for played games they were in honestly a good condition) and when they had all the discs they pushed all of the cases back at the person in a way that practically said, "get these off my counter."
Fantastic experience: I was looking for a game type and asked service for assistance and I was quickly given the name and location of the item.
Fantastic experience: I called about a game and when I went in the sales person held it for me without me even asking. Amazing
Fantastic experience: Pink Gorilla in the U District is a Seattle treasure. This is hands-down the best spot for retro games, import titles, and just soaking in genuine gamer culture. Walking in feels like a blast from the past in the best way possible. The selection is incredible—they have everything from classic NES and SNES cartridges to rare Japanese imports for systems you've barely heard of. It's not just a store; it's a museum where you can actually buy the exhibits. The staff are always super knowledgeable and friendly, not gate-keepy at all, just fellow enthusiasts who are happy to chat about games or help you find that one specific title you've been hunting for. Whether you're a hardcore collector or just feeling nostalgic for your childhood, you have to check them out.
Fantastic experience: Great store! If you are looking for hard to find video games from all consoles, no matter the age, and all regions, this is the place to go!
Fantastic experience: Had nice time looking around
Fantastic experience: Got a stick drifting ps5 controller fixed, did an awesome job!
Fantastic experience: One of the last bastions of gaming nostalgia that doesnt prioritize profit
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and a cool vibe, definitely worth a visit
Fantastic experience: Nice people! Stellar service - by far my favorite gaming store in the area.
Fantastic experience: Used and vintage games done right. Employees/owner are great. Some new games. Standard pricing. I believe udistrict is the largest Pink Gorilla in Seattle.
Fantastic experience: Sold items here..... treated me fairly and very friendly!!
Negative experience: Decent selection on videogame literature, prices are higher than most used video game stores, going fairly over average values. Not flexible on pricing
Fantastic experience: Pink Gorilla Games is THE game store in U district. It always has a A tier selection of retro and new titles for good prices. Their own selection of merch is awesome too. One of my favorite spots in U district!
Fantastic experience: Always a lovely experience at Al's. Vast selection, great prices, and very cool staff always at the ready to assist. 11/10
Negative experience: Showed Up With A Near Mint Atari Still In a Box Complete, with multiple games , As well with a stack of video games for other consoles. The employee straight up offered $20 for everything lol After I denied the offer, they admitted it was a lowball offer & began asking what I was Offered By Other People when I started packing. I took my Item's down to Al's and they gave me about $200+ more.
Positive experience: Nice amount of import games usually pretty reasonably priced.
Fantastic experience: Lots of inventory, clean and well labeled, and good prices. Especially for in the city
Fantastic experience: Lots of good games, I wish the Wii selection was better but it's kinda a niche console now to be fair. Employees are happy to talk and answer any questions you might have. The disks are always resurfaced well and in near mint if not mint condition.
Fantastic experience: We were in the UDistrict to check out some stuff and we stumbled upon this store. It was so cool! They have a lot of different games at very reasonable prices, as well as other merchandise. They have their own merch, like pins and T-shirts which are super cute. The employees there were super nice and knowledgeable. It seems to be a very busy shop and popular with the college students who go to school close by.
Positive experience: A pleasant store with very friendly and helpful employees, but the selection is poor compared to other game stores and, tellingly, even the other Pink Gorilla locations. Worth a quick stop, but don't get your hopes up. Al's up the same street was a better browsing experience.
Fantastic experience: Great stock, lovely staff, dripping with style...P Gorilla and Pinky G are happy at their new home!
Fantastic experience: Pink Gorilla has been my personal choice for anything retro in my area. Everything is reasonably priced compared to online sellers and always have friendly staff willing to help you find something from their many stores.
Fantastic experience: Today is was visiting Seattle and went to Pink Gorilla with my family. Very cute store, legit imported products, and great prices! I bought a Battle Partners booster box and pulled the Lillie's Clefairy that's $315!!! I couldn't believe it! This store is amazing and the workers are sweet! Support local!
Fantastic experience: Great selection and awesome staff. Always worth peeking in to see what new treasures come in ❤️
Fantastic experience: All the Pink Gorilla representatives were super helpful in troubleshooting my busted n64. I went in multiple times and I had a different person each time who were knowledgeable and determined to help me get to the root issues. Ultimately, they couldn't correct the problem in-store but referred me to a trusted repairman.
Fantastic experience: Very excited place! I hope I can come again and buy something.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this location! Best service, staff, and game selection on the Ave. But be careful, the place can be habit forming.
Fantastic experience: I went out with my friend Raymond to run a trade in while also hunting for some games a while ago. The trade values were fair, and we were both able to find what we were looking for when we took the trip down from Everett. I'm happy to always support local shops, and I'm thankful video game stores like these are still around.
Fantastic experience: The best video game store in Seattle (or ever!). Staff is friendly, kind and knowledgable. The pricing is fair and selection is good. Ooo and the plushies and toys are really good too! Been shopping here for well over a decade. Thanks Pinky G for making Seattle what it is today ☺️☺️ fave store
Fantastic experience: Their largest and most well-stocked location. Staff is super friendly!
Negative experience: I bought a game and as I left the store and I was walking towards my car, I noticed the cartridge had some damage. I came back to the store and brought it to their attention. They said they would only take it back for store credit and pointed out their return policy. This was, literally, 5 minutes after I bought it. It left a poor after taste to walk away while they kept my money for something that was sold with undisclosed issues, and that came back to their shelves within 10 min. I'm not trying to be unreasonable, and I understand that return for credit exists to prevent customers from taking advantage of return policies (such as buying a game, playing for days and then returning it) but considering the circumstances, this felt abusive.
Fantastic experience: Games that I got here came in great condition! There are so many options for games of each console! Great stop to save money than resellers online.
Fantastic experience: Very cool
Fantastic experience: Definitely lived up to my expectations. Staff were super friendly, really awesome with my 4 little kids, and prices were very fair. The only downside is that getting in and out of anywhere in a city like Seattle is exhausting. It would be awesome to see a location more outside of the crazy areas like Capitol Hill, University District, or the international district. Somewhere I can just drop by and check out the selection instead of having to make a whole day of it. However, these guys are definitely doing things the right way as they appear to be doing well for themselves in an era where it is getting harder to make it with physical media.
Fantastic experience: Amazing store, it's what you always wish gamestop could be
Fantastic experience: Pink Gorilla has been the best customer service I've ever had (not an exaggeration). I bought a used console from them recently, and they've been so helpful and generous with the tiniest of issues that I followed up. Awesome atmosphere, awesome people, amazing place to support.
Fantastic experience: I really like this store. Often, when you go to game stores, you either have the experience of being in a huge box store where nobody knows anything about their merchandise or you get the feeling that everyone is so into gaming that you can't really relate, and they try to sell you games which aren't really for casual or normal players. However, this store stands out by being helpful to both casual and hardcore gamers. Their selection is good, their staff is extremely helpful, and a pleasure to work with. I definitely approve of this gaming store. P.S. Their mascot and merchandise are cute too. Also, the store's sign amuses me.
Fantastic experience: Amazing customer service! I brought my defective Nintendo 64 in hoping to trade it in for credit towards a functioning unit, but instead they diagnosed and fixed the problem for us free of charge, and in the end we only wound up having to buy a new power cable! I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm looking for retro games and consoles.
Positive experience: Absolutely the best retro gaming store in the Seattle area! Amazing prices, generous with trade ins, helpful with repairs, very friendly and patient staff. However if you go into the store you may be live streamed without the opportunity to consent. A live audience will watch and hear you in a stream that is archived for anyone to watch. A neat idea that unites the retro gaming community with a fun dynamic environment for interaction! But a living nightmare for folks who actively avoid putting their likeness online.
Hey HC, thank you for the kind words and our apology for the issues with the live stream. Our policy is to post a notice on the front door to indicate that we are live streaming. We also welcome you to call ahead and ask for the stream to be paused while you shop. Your comfort is very important to us — please also feel to reach out privately and we can find the stream you found yourself on and edit or delete it.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding retro store. Kelsey and her team always go above and beyond to help and try to help you hunt down those old hidden gems. Store also offers a good selection of new releases too.
Fantastic experience: I love this store, they have tons of systems and games, the people here are great and helpful, all that you need for your retro gamer needs and some more modern too as they carry new Switch/Xbox/PS5 game either. Just a heads up for people trying to sell games here, this type of stores offers a percentage of the "market price" of games so you always get less that if you sell it on eBay, is just more convenient and faster to sell your stuff, so please remember that for a $50 game you will be getting not more than $25, don't get mad for that, there is a risk associated to buy and selling games that they take.
Fantastic experience: Learned about this place from the Metal Jesus YouTube channel. Solid selection, organized store, probably the most complete used video game store I've been to
Fantastic experience: Their biggest location. Lots of retro games and consoles. Found some rare games I had been searching for and had good prices vs what eBay offers. Staff was very friendly and happily answered questions I had. They seem to test their consoles pretty well too. Bought a ps1 that was in great condition.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic selection, as someone who loves gaming this store was amazing!! Kelsey was super helpful and friendly, always exciting to run into other Pokémon card fans
Fantastic experience: Amazing selection of vintage games. They were also super easy to work with when I had an issue with a controller. 10/10 customer service!
Fantastic experience: love this company. three locations now and so much selection. def worth the visit
Fantastic experience: A surprising selection and a ton of cute plushies, my fiance and I ended up getting way more than we thought we would! Thanks to Rowan for the quick, skilled, and polite service. We felt very taken care of!
Positive experience: The place looks very nice and pleasing. One thing to note is that the selection can be a bit vacant at times but their prices are great and reasonable.
Fantastic experience: Kelsey and Cody are both super awesome and friendly people. Prices are very fair and Kelsey was a huge help while my girlfriend and i visited. The games being bagged on the wall makes it easy to see what’s available without having to flip through rows of cartridges. The Star Fox statue is also super awesome to see in person. Definitely stop by Pink Gorilla for your gaming needs, especially if you are into imports or plushies!
Fantastic experience: I love this place. Great store to get retro games that are not marked up 150-200%. Fair prices and the staff really cares
Fantastic experience: Sold some games didn't leave feeling like I got ripped off. Definitely gonna go back and sell them more!
Negative experience: Bought a ps4 controller and it was either not quality checked or they just willingly sold me a product that won't turn on, used or not if it's for sale it should be said if it does not function
Hi Gavin, we’re so sorry you had this experience. We do clean and test all of our products before they go out for sale, and we apologize for this mistake. We’re always happy to exchange the controller for you at any location.
Fantastic experience: Always great service here. I receive fair prices and values for my items. I always recommend my friends to them whenever they're looking for old games or consoles. Thanks y'all!
Fantastic experience: Best retro game store I found in all Seattle. Prices are excellent, more or less in line with pricecharting plus or minus a few bucks, often less
Fantastic experience: This is an incredible place to find retro games at a decent price! I've come here multiple times to find old school games for the PlayStation 2, they are always in great condition!
Fantastic experience: An abundance of video games and video game related items. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable they will assist you with anything you need.
Fantastic experience: I actually had an issue with my purchase and promptly called this store. They offered a viable solution that I was happy with. I wont go into details, but am happy that they work with you. Came here because of Metal Jesus Rocks on youtube. Not from this area, so happy that my experience here was amazing. side note. prices are very good in comparison to what you can get online, so for retro collectors this is a must visit store if youre in the area.
Fantastic experience: Fair console prices, lots of imported games at good prices, it's a cool place.
Fantastic experience: Good service! They have lots of games and consoles. This is a very nice retro game store. You can find collectibles, toys, and many other retro games.
Fantastic experience: It's always a good place to visit in the University District. Awesome Retro games, a good place to find old consoles and controllers, or Ps1/Ps2/ Xbox/ 360, classic Nintendo Systems, etc. for not too high of a mark up considering it's all collectable, fair Prices all around. Plus the owner Streams almost nightly, Follow DSKoopa on Twitch!
Fantastic experience: I love Pink Gorilla! They have very friendly and knowledgeable staff as well as a great collection of video games and related merchandise.
Fantastic experience: Great shop. Make sure to pick up some apparel for a discount! Not just a great place for retro games but also cute video game knick knacks. Great stop for that valentines nerd in your life
Positive experience: Great place for retro games, I had so many games in there I was looking for for a very long time
Fantastic experience: I get all my classic games here. Prices are super reasonable. Not ridiculously above market price. Owners are really friendly. Staff is knowledgeable. These people know what they are talking about. If they don't have the game you want they will know how to get it.
Fantastic experience: Best local game store in the universe. Also, check out the live Twitch stream too! Super big fun and they are at conventions as well.
Fantastic experience: I guess it's a fair deal for trade-ins for store credit, but it feels like if you are going for a straight sale you will lose out on some cash. But then again the convenience of just popping in and selling something in-person may outweigh spending the effort and time waiting on someone to purchase your gear online. What's cool about this place is the variety of all the old systems and games. They even have a section of used Nintendo Power magazines. They pretty much have every console -but it is the luck of the draw if they have a specific rare cartridge in-stock or not. However that's the appeal of coming here (it's sort of like going to a used record shop and digging through the crates, but instead you are digging for cartridges).
Positive experience: Was pleasantly surprised at how easy and how much cash I got for selling some old Nintendo Cube games!!
Positive experience: Spent $400+ on original game boy games and can’t even keep the 50 cent box protectors? Employee was also very rude to us and vigorously ripping the games and manuals from the 30+ year old game boy boxes. Overrated shop based on my poor experience from the rude employee. The other employees were very friendly. Game selection is decent.
Fantastic experience: This place is awesome!! They have tons of retro games and also some good deals on more current games too. They also have a cute collection of plushies and keychains, and play video game music in the shop. I absolutely recommend it!
Fantastic experience: They have some really amazing stuff. I got a cute pikachu keychain from here, its amazing.
Positive experience: Amazing game store, with overall good prices. They keep their inventory well stocked and clean everything too. There are no garbage stickers to worry about since most of them are usually on some outer plastic sleeve, which is perfect for checking out games, but the workers don't have to worry about people stealing them since they're tied to a metal bar with a zip-tie, it's genius. Some game system libraries aren't as well stocked as others, but it's not too big of an issue. Their customer service is overall really good, they let me check to see if some consoles I still own still work for free (I don't have any of the cords to test them myself, that's why). One minor thing, I see they put a lot of boxes near the front of the store, but that just makes them more likely to get sun bleached, it hurts to look at.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience. Great selection with very reasonable prices, tremendously knowledgable and funny staff, and a great atmosphere to boot! Make sure to pick up a very well built and cusdly Pinky G plushie too!
Fantastic experience: They have a really skilled technician who did a region unlock on a ps2 for me. Otherwise, they almost always have some interesting games. Occasionally, they have limited run games, too.
Fantastic experience: Love it here. They've got great selection and the staff is super helpful. Really appreciate them -- one of the only places around to find old Xbox / 360 / Wii games and controllers. Really appreciate their stock. Wish they had more Dreamcast games but I suppose it's just based on trade-ins
Fantastic experience: I always make sure to stop by when I'm in town. Great selection of used and new games. Staff is very knowledgeable as well. Highly recommend stopping by if you are ever in the area.
Positive experience: Despite this store's reputation, I find that it is a bit of a let down. The customer service at this company is a bit lacking. Often I would come here and never be greeted by the employees. I would shop here every sunday for two years straight and every time I'd leave I would have a bad taste in my mouth due to the lack of friendly service. One time I was asking an employee as question and as soon as the transaction was complete, she walked away while I was mid question. The store is very clean, and there is a nice selection of product. The International District has a better selection of Rare games, but the U-District has a better selection of games in general. It's worth checking out both locations if you get the chance.
Fantastic experience: Love pink gorilla I get my retro games from there and black yoshi plushies I recently bought The SimpSons Hit and Run from there and I love their stores 10/10
Positive experience: It was nice to finally get an opportunity to check out a well known store that I wanted to visit for years. Their inventory did not disappoint me at all since I was looking forward to buying many imports they had available. Though there was an issue when I walked in the door. I wasn't greeted, one of the associates was watching me extra hard, and finally when I needed assistance the same associated would be in a hasty mood if like they wanted me to leave. Because of that, I was unable to ask for the other games that I need the person to get for me. It's a real shame since I drove 3.5 hrs just to check out the place (I did went to the cafe nextdoor). The reason why I think person was super tense was the fact that the store had a few break ins here and there. Overall I wouldn't mind going back to the store to shop there again as a way to support them. I have no Ill will towards the individual. I want them to stay open like any other retro game store I've been to the past few years and hopefully the next time I visit there will be positive energy.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful store, staple of the University District. If you’re interested in retro games or Japanese import gifts, this is your place to go!
Fantastic experience: This location is wonderful. They also have another in the international district of Seattle. Plenty of hard to find retro video games. A lot of accessories to keep you running. Also new games and collectibles. They had some stuff that I've never seen before including japanese only games.
Fantastic experience: Cool store with fair prices. They mentioned they replace all of the batteries in cartridges. Had a variety of regions of games. Suprised to see in box wonderswan color games.
Fantastic experience: Lots of selections of games. Was very pleased went to both locations was very pleased with Lucky & Pebbles. Will come back to visit soon
Fantastic experience: The owner was super friendly and really seemed to enjoy his work. Wide selection and a clean store.
Fantastic experience: This place is great! I made a trade for.some old Xbox 360 games I had hanging around and made alot more than I anticipated! Their video game selection is unparalleled and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. If you are looking for really any kind of game from any kind of era, this should be your go-to! Will definitely be back again to paruse and purchase.
Fantastic experience: Nice video game shop with a huge selection of classic and new games, systems, and merch. Great stop of you're looking for a specific niche game.
Fantastic experience: Best retro/New age game store in all of Washington. It's ran by some super nice honest people. And they always have good stuff every time I go.
Fantastic experience: It was cool to finally check this place out after seeing it on Metal Jesus Rocks' YouTube channel for so many years. Great selection, very fair pricing, friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Pink Gorilla is a retro gamer's dream. Their prices are fair, and they have a sizable selection. Call first to see if they have what you're looking for.
Fantastic experience: Loved it. It’s in a very nice location of Seattle near the university and travelling here isn’t an issue either. Very friendly staff working at the desk, great displays, didn’t have the game I was looking for but I really didn’t care about that considering how cool the shop was. When I go back to Seattle I’ll definitely visit again
Fantastic experience: I play with my PS3 daily, and the Pink Gorilla is a great place to get my games. Their collection is fantastic and the employees are respectful and knowledgeable. I visit there approximately 2-3 times per week
Positive experience: This place is super fun to check out. I always get excited to stop by whenever I'm in the area. They have fair prices for video games, which is refreshing after seeing so many scalpers online.
Fantastic experience: I just really really love this store they've got a great selection of products and the employees are super nice I recommend this to anyone who loves cute little video game stores
