Fantastic experience: Best retro game store in west Texas. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Have to say, I love a good games store. These guys always have a ton of games in the cabinet but more than that it’s how they take care of the games you buy. They cleaned the carts and put the loose nes game into its own protective bag. Just such good selection, high quantity and great customer service.

Fantastic experience: Staff is friendly and courteous, my wife shopped here for Christmas and she had nothing but good things to say so I went to check it out for myself and I agree with her sentiments. Their prices are competitive and they carry a wide variety of modern and retro video games to choose from. Atari, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, PlayStation and more.

Fantastic experience: A while back I left a low review based on personal opinion and not actual customer service. I’m sorry for making it personal. 806 was a huge part of my son’s life for about 5 years. He is 15 now and has new interests but he still spends time in his game room from time to time. 806 is a great store. The staff is always courteous and very knowledgeable in their field. Thank you for always having a big selection of consoles and games.

Negative experience: Completely understandable to have a 30 day warranty on parts that you fix on a Nintendo Switch. Makes sense, but when it has an issue and we bring it in because it won’t release the game, and we ask if you can help……you look at it and tell us all is well just the part is put in backwards…we then tell you that you all put it in, and you say it’s a 30 day warranty very quickly. Ok sounds good, but since it’s backwards and we didn’t work on it, but rather you did….you will at least give a discount and get it fixed? Lady’s answer…No promises. Gotcha. We made the conscious decision to shop local at your store whenever we could, as to support small businesses, but we will look elsewhere going forward. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: My family and I usually come here on our Lubbock trips to see what they got. Has a warm and inviting aura when you walk in, staff is also very kind. Only real criticism is there's no music playing in the background usually, and it's a small store, so it can feel a bit awkward at times. Other than that though it's a great place for your retro gaming needs.

Negative experience: Charges 50 dollars for a used copy of Mario 3D World on switch that is missing the original box. Unreal. Found a complete copy on ebay for 20 dollars.

Positive experience: The staff was nice. Went in for a couple of Ps5 and Ps4 games. They didn't have them. Their selection was very small, definitely lacking.

Fantastic experience: Eddie did us a solid. My kid bought a game thinking it was Kirby Dreamland. It was not. We brought it back let him know what happened. They were willing to give us store credit for the full value of the game - then helped my son pick out something he would enjoy more. Treated me more than fair.

Fantastic experience: Great joint. Got a great deal on a Sega Saturn and Symphony of the Night recently. Bought an N64 from there as well, and they let me switch out the controller it came with for another one, for free. The game selection is pretty good, and you’re sure to find that one game you’ve had on your mind for years. Danny knows what’s up, he’ll hook you up.

Fantastic experience: Took in my N64 that had been freezing up. They took the time to try out different cords, and another game to make sure they could get the problem figured out. Super helpful and nice. They left the console and my game in better shape than when I went in.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't get my old nentindo 64 to work, so I took it here. The manager Danny tested and cleaned everything and figured out the problem. Then he cleaned and tested out all my games to make sure they all worked. I can finally play some of my favorite childhood games again. Awesome service and very knowledgeable staff.

Fantastic experience: This is why you shop local. They have the best selection of games in town, and I got to witness how much they personally care about the community and their customers. Danny and Jenny helped out a customer who was selling a device when they really didn't have to. Where GameStop and others go by what the computer tells them and another unnamed local in place cares more about selling everything else, their knowledge and compassion helped them work out something really great. The selection is unmatched. They're friendly and don't hassle you. I'll keep coming back for years.

Fantastic experience: Danny the store manager is awesome. He fixed up some of my old n64 games. One of the games was so bad I didn't even think it was repairable. Some people complain that the prices are a bit more than street prices but you have no guarantee that the street games are going to work. These guys guarantee their products. I recommend them to anyone who is looking at reliving their retro gaming experiences.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to 806 Games for awhile now because of how much knowledge these guys have on the products that they sell. Danny the manager ALWAYS takes that extra step to help me and make sure what I’m buying is of my taste. These guys also help expand my library on games i haven’t played or heard of. Fantastic experience: I went to 806 games with my large collection of games. They went through all the trouble to look over the several boxes of games and consoles. They gave me a very fair price and I though I declined, I believe I was just to attached to let go of it all. That being said they were very friendly and helped carry the stuff back to my vehicle. Fantastic experience: This is my favorite place to look for old video games! They have a huge variety of old consoles and games to choose from, whether it'd be Playstation 2, Nintendo 64, etc. On top of that, they even have some of the recent stuff like Nintendo Switch games. The staff is always chill and helpful, including that one time I needed a video/audio output plug for my mother's N64. Boy, did that make her day! ^w^ I easily recommend this place for fellow gamers!

Fantastic experience: Well, now I know why 806 Games are legit af! Showed up with a sample batch of my collection (over 120 games and a handful of consoles in total, but needed to liquidate 45 games and get a few sheckles fast). I expected about 60% of the payout I got, rounding out 2 extra hundred I did not see coming. As a dude that cut my teeth at FunkoLand Games in Arlington, IYKYK, the crew here is beyond professional and fair. And given the opportunity cost of me trying to sell on FB Marketplace or other plats (I have done alright on like Mercari and a few others), I showed back up with another 90 titles and a console hours later. Because, lest we forget, selling games one by one takes time! And, then turning tail on FB Marketplace and selling a bundle for less than you would get at 806 Games just straight up hurts. So, if you have a COLLECTION of games, (Nintendo titles for GameCube were a hit here, but the hella decent ones), this is your place. But, friendly reminder from a small business owner in Marketing, presentation IS EVERYTHING. I didn't try to mislead anyone. But I took the 20 minutes to dry dust the cases and check that all games were correctly placed and that any obvious box/disc damage titles were not even presented. That little TLC showed them that I respected their time. And they for sure paid my efforts back in spades.

Fantastic experience: We went in there to get a "new" wii to replace the one that we thought was broken. It's at my parents' house, and only ever gets used when we visit with the grandkids. I know nothing about video games and consoles, but had the same problem with thr "new" one as with the "old" one, even though I knew they had tested it at the store to make sure it worked. I finally called and (I hope O get his name right) Danny answered, knew who I was, tried to help me troubleshoot while my father fiddled with cables and things in the other room. He couldn't think of anything I hadn't done, yet, so I said "thank you" and hung up. He called back immediately with one more idea. He asked me to go look at the wii and tell him how it was sitting (horizontally, vertically, which side is the power button on, etc.) Found out we had the stupid thing upside-down, so we're putting the games in upside down (right-side up to us). Danny (again, hope I got his name right) said to come in and he would give us store credit. Again, when I went in the next day with one of my sons, Danny remembered who I was (probably laughed to himself, and I don't at all blame him), and made the exchange process very easy. I would absolutely highly recommend these guys because they are so helpful and nit at all condescending, even to a dolt like me, even when I literally don't know which way is up.

Positive experience: I personally think that they over price quite a bit of their items but I am not a gamer so my opinion is well my opinion. I found the store a tad bit small, clustered and crowded for my comfort. Butt 806 GETS A MAJOR LOVE IT FROM ME WITH THE CHARACTER COSTUMES THAT THEY HAVE THEIR EMPLOYEE WEAR TO ADVERTISE AND GRAB YOUR ATTENTION. MY GRANDDAUGHTER LOVES TO GET PHOTOS WITH THE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS AND THE EMPLOYEE IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME AND GRACEFUL ALLOWING US TO DO JUST THAT.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic game shop! Owners and managers are extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. They went out of their way to make sure I was completely happy with my purchases. They also made sure I got the best quality copy of each used game I bought. I visited 806 Games on a whim while visiting from out of town, and I would drive 2 hours again just to pay them a visit. Fantastic experience: Every time I go by 806 Games, I am greeted and asked if I need any assistance. There have been occasions when I come in and am looking for something but not sure what it is. After describing it to the staff, they are always helpful in finding the needed item. This is a great local business to support. You can not find better service in the gaming industry anywhere else in Lubbock, but here. I will continue to come back to the store.

Negative experience: Yeah I was pretty much ripped off I sold some stuff out of the need of money and I wanted a value price before selling everything how pawn shops or any buy /sell place works before a deal is made. My stuff was put on there display before I even got a price ! Then I was told not to stare at them for his comfort when I’m just looking at the process of my items being looked at . Rude tbh Then with honestly the value of the stuff sold is worth well around 500$ did I expect that no I understand it’s a place of Business they have to make there amount of money back But what I was giving was 200$ I won’t go into detail about the items on value but there was some high priced games and I felt as if I went to game stop ! Every game store from Dallas to Houston all around even California that I have been to honestly even local Ralph’s records and tapes Would have met me in the middle . And if you are wondering “why didn’t I just go somewhere else ?” Well again I’m frustrated I was made uncomfortable from the guy there .and my stuff was put on sale before i was given a price for it so I just took the cash and left . Will never do anything of business here again Honestly to other Cx don’t expect a good fair cash deal unless in store credit and even that was barely fair .

Positive experience: Nice looking store, with a pretty hefty selection of literally everything. However, prices are extraordinarily high. I expect some markup compared to online retailers, but in most instances prices were about double what you'd expect.

None of them compare to this store when it comes to variety and quantity. Big shout out to the SM Danny as he gave me such a great experience with helpful knowledge and advice. That’s hard to come by these days. I’ve been in retail for 15 years and really appreciate someone who gets the customer experience!

Negative experience: So I wrote a review for this place before and gave them 5 stars, but what happened today they aren’t even worth one star. I had lost my power cord and audio video cord for my original Xbox, so I went in got new controllers and the two cords I needed plus a couple of games. I was specifically told I had 7 days to return if anything happened by Mason. After I got home and connected it all, my system would not work. I took the items back to return under 30 minutes after I bought them and Danny would not allow me to return any of the items. He was very rude and dismissive. Now I have had to contact my attorney in order to try and get these items returned. Horrible customer service! I will never return to this place and strongly urge everybody else to steer clear as well. I had quite a few good experiences before this as well, but after seeing this side of them it just shows their true colors. They are only about making a profit and could care less about their customers. I went to this place to support local; however, in the gaming industry in Lubbock TX it’s better to stay with the corporate names. I don’t want anybody else to get scammed by this business which will eventually happen if people continue to shop here.

Fantastic experience: Amazing store! Went in with my son not knowing what to expect. We were both blown away by what they had inside. Their collection is very impressive. I came away with a retro 2 in 1 console with HD capabilities. We're playing Super Mario 3, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and my original Super Mario World from my own collection. Had a little issue with how to properly load the game into the system. Called and the Manager walked me through it and we were playing games in no time. We are Definitely going back. We live out of town but this will be a frequent stop for us.

Some may say they are pricey but they seem on par with most other places, you get the good service, knowledgeable and a local business to support for pretty much the same price as elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: 806 Games is a great store for all your video game needs! I don't get to go in nearly as often as I like, but Danny and the rest of the staff always make it a fun visit. Beyond simply buying and selling video games, I've made use of their disk resurfacing services, and when one of my consoles stopped working, they pointed me to someone who could fix it. And I've learned several things just visiting with Danny. Overall, this store and everyone that works there is great!

Fantastic experience: Purchased several game boy colors and they all worked perfectly. They even replaced a few screens that had a lot of scratches and scuff marks. I also needed the battery replaced in several old Pokemon Blue/Reds. They referred me to Izzy, who fixed them all promptly without any problems. Very impressed all around.

Negative experience: We got a ps2 from them it came with a controller. We got a brand new controller cause we needed 2 well within a week the new controller broke the r2 button. I'm giving 2 stars cause they were nice enough to give me another one. Well a week later the controller that came with the ps2 broke on the same spot too r2 button. I'm so disappointed in this place paid all this money and seems to me the controllers are really cheap for alot of money. Haven't called yet to see what they gonna tell me on this controller.
