Gameplay Long Beach

Fantastic experience: This retro video game store is amazing, not to mention it's located in the city of Long Beach (which is one great city)! It sells a variety of video games, DVD's, and Blu-ray's, and they also sell anime on DVD (and Blu-ray, and I wish they sell more and more of those types of media, just like any Book Off stores do) as well as games that were released only in different countries (like Japan and Europe, for instance), but never in the U.S.! I would definitely love to come back to this retro game store again more often, which is why I had to get a business card for it! I highly recommend it! I would definitely love it if they reduce the prices of the games that they sell, especially the ones that are universally loved and acclaimed by many people and gamers (even whatever is generally desired). Other than that, I still love this store, nonetheless, and of course, one of the staff members, including Russell and Christopher, who has known me, are really cool. ✌️☯️✨️❤

Positive experience: Plenty of games to check out. Their return policy is flexible though it would be on who you ask. Russ has been amazing, super helpful and always makes the effort to help me find what I'm looking for even if it's in a competing store. I did have to return a Harmonix guitar due to the button being sticky, which a different guy helped me with, he didn't want to take it back. But I was well within the return period and had a receipt. In the end he took it but I wasn't sure why he was telling em I couldn't? I always come back anyway and try something new or checkout what they have in stock.

Fantastic experience: This is one of a kind gaming store. Russell was very helpful. No other store had a ps vita this clean and at a good price. It's almost Brand new. Definitely recommend shopping here

Negative experience: Was trying to sell my consoles here but declined the low offer plus I had cords for the ps1 in box but they said they used their own cords. They were in there but now they aren’t. Scandalous! They offered less than 50% market wouldn’t recommend selling here!

Negative experience: Called and asked if they where taking preoders for resident evil.They said yes, and then when I got here, they said they aren't taking them wasted twenty dollars ubering there in three hours of my time, I'll never come back here again.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Russ and how helpful he was. Great customer service! I had purchased a game cube game from GameStop for my nephew for Christmas. I didn’t realize they had such a short window for returns and exchanges. By the time my nephew opened the game and found out that it didn’t work, it was beyond that window. GameStop would not budge. Russ tried to resurface it twice and even set up a machine to test it and unfortunately, it still did not work. I purchased a few other games for my nephew, and I will be back for his birthday and Christmas. Thanks, Russ!

Negative experience: Hours say to 9pm an it’s 40minss before closing an the store locked up an no one answering the phone

Negative experience: Employee named Chris is cool and super nice. Games are over priced for retro and return policy is ridiculous. I bought a console that included an after market controller. After removing the bundle from its shrink wrap the joy stick was actually broken. Then was assured console although used was cleaned had issues running games. As you can see how would this dust and corrosion get on a console while it was shrink wrapped? It just shows negligence on their part and I would not trust their words, needless to say I will not be going back here.

Fantastic experience: Russ is awesome! Held onto a copy of a game(mind you, I hadn't played it since childhood) all weekend. Gavee a nice break down in the pricing for the game verse if I had spent the time and effort with dealing with eBay. Totally justified the price in my eyes for a clean copy. Local game dealer that I haven't thought to utilize for classics since a recent craze of nostalgia I've been going through Definitely recommend this little shop for not only the prices, but the convenience factor alone. Go in shooting for the stars and they'll refreshingly bring you back down to Earth with their fair prices and reasonable trades.

Negative experience: Are these 5 star reviews being paid for? The games in the store are way too overpriced. These are old games, not every single one of them is worth the asking price, even GameStop has better prices. Not even a kind greeting when I walked in. That’s not what I’m looking for when visiting a new store but it helps improve the experience. Never going back here. Glad I didn’t buy anything.

Negative experience: These guys did not take care of their games whatsoever. As soon as we walked into the store a bunch of their games have really bad sun damage. As a retro game collector I wish they would have more respect for video games.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, I do not recommend this place if you plan on getting a good deal or if you plan to save money. I bought a system and games without knowing how much they were really worth. Later in the day I come to realize that they had marked it up over 300%! On top of that I had an emergency and decided to return it. Wrong. They do not accept cash refunds, there was no indication verbally about it and the word "no refund" is hidden in the receipt and paper. When they advertise "90 day return". This was completely absurd, I pleaded with them to do anything but was met with "You should have done your research" and "yeahhhhh" in a "I do not believe your story" type of way when I explained I needed the cash. Overall, place looked decent but the return policy traps you, forcing you to get ripped off. I am completely shocked at how I was treated. Completely unsatisfied from this experience. 0/10 would recommend. Stay far far away please.

I bought my PS2 and PS3 from this place and traded some of my old games and old PSX units. The best customer service and support for all your gaming needs. I live in Vegas now, but I will not have a second thought of buying a PS5 from this store when I visit LB again!

Fantastic experience: Been a couple of times and never had an issue. Everything is at reasonable prices if you're looking for standard stuff. Which is great because it means I always have something new to get. Most nostalgic games for an affordable cost and everything is tested, works, and come out in relatively good to perfect condition. You are guaranteed to get the money's worth for the things you buy even if they are expensive. And that's the important thing to keep in mind: Somethings are just going to be expensive. Face it. The prices are justified if you have legitimate knowledge on the brands, age, rarity, franchise, etc. Imported games, popular classics, hard-to-come-by games, factory sealed stuff, and legitimate non-bootleg items is just naturally gonna be expensive no matter where you go. If you're looking to buy a PS2 for example, it'll be around $160-170 dollars with everything included. It's much when online retailers sell it for cheaper, sure, but if you have common sense then it really is NOT much for an extremely popular 20 year old console. Especially one that is tested guaranteed to work, clean, and be in excellent condition. Make of this what you will, but personally it makes more sense to eliminate the hassle of getting risky gaming products 2nd hand online by coming here to the store. If you want something that works, can physically see the condition yourself, and are willing to pay the amount for something you truly will value and will keep for a long time then it is absolutely worth coming to this store. If you're looking to get a console bundle or a stack of games for $20 with this high level of quality then you're never gonna find the right place here or anywhere else. This is the best video game store around. And the shopkeepers are very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly with any questions or concerns you've got. Please give this place a visit if you're interested. You might pick up a thing or two.

Negative experience: I used to like coming here a lot, and all of the staff is pretty nice. I'm giving a 2 star review because I bought a broken game here the other day (shows that they obviously don't test they're games well enough). I went to return it today but I was only able to have the game polished (didn't fix issue) or get in store credit. I wouldn't mind in store credit if most of their prices weren't so inflated, making it hard to justify buying most of the items they sell. I understand only giving in store credit on a normal return, but since the game came broken I think its scummy. I don't blame the employee helping me but its still a bad store policy. After I come in to use my credit I probably won't come back.

Negative experience: Cool Store, did notice the pricing was double from any other game store or online. I recommend world-8 for better prices, or ebay. If you are looking for ps4 or newer Xbox, Nintendo games I highly, highly recommend going to gamestop for better pricing and better deals. Most things aren't priced so you do have to ask staff most of the time. I do not recommend buying here unless you are super desperate for the item you are looking for. I don't recommend trading either. I offered my NES with lots of accessories and games, and was offered $20 cash only. Go to other stores or purchase online. Make sure to do your research before buying to save some money.

Fantastic experience: Came over few days ago bought me a used Nintendo switch lite as a gift for someone and let me tell you the sales person who worked that night was very helpful and not to forget to mention how he took care of me showing me the games they got and gaved me a discount I wouldn't get at a GameStop or any other video game store they have all the retro consoles as well if you into the cartridges games NES or Sega or Nintendo 64 or super Nintendo they got it all Definitely coming back for buying games and accessories maybe another console

Negative experience: I have no idea what the selling experience is like here, but don't even stop here if you're looking to buy. You will be ripped off. Period. No question. They don't price anything on the floor, forcing you to ask how much everything is. I can understand that since the price on different things with used games can skyrocket over night. What I can't appreciate is the actual doubling of the price for everything I inquired about. Final Fantasy Explorers for 3ds was 44.99 when you can buy it for 20 on ebay. A Kirby game was over 100 when you can buy online for 40. There were three other games I asked about that were literally double online prices. Please don't go here and encourage people who aren't as informed to be ripped off.

Fantastic experience: This is a REAL game store. I've been going here since they opened down the street near by the Stater Brothers. This location is about half the size as the old one, but they manage to fit a ton of selection in here. Yes, they have the newest games and the prices are comparable to the big guy, but they also have a huge selection of retro games and systems. Do you want n64 games, or an N64 system? This is where you can find them. Last time I was in they had every Nintendo system back to the original NES, a Sega master system and an Atari 2600 sitting in the case. It's like walking into a gaming museum. I also just bought GTA 4 on ps3, because for some reason it hasn't been remastered yet. Get your games here and support the local guy.

Negative experience: The customer service was okay, but the price for items were far more expensive than the average value on pricecharting.com. The store also had horrendous trade in values, I was offered 40$ for an item with an average value of 400$ on pricecharting.com. Overall, everything aside from customer service was absolutely horrendous.

Negative experience: I recently unloaded a complete PS2 and a bunch on decent games and accessories and they offered me $30 bucks cash lol I only agreed because I wanted to unload it. Keep in mind that I used to sell on EBay and I know what I could of got for everything. I DO NOT recommend selling your games to them unless it is an emergency. Sell your games at a yard sale or online; these guys will not give you a fair price for your old games.

Fantastic experience: This was a nice place to be, found it while searching for local game shops and decided to check it out. Went to trade in some games (which I have to admit I feel they should've been worth more than what they were giving me) and buy a GameCube controller and the one I bought stopped working in a few days. Went back to the place to return it and unfortunately I couldn't do so as their was no evidence it didn't work and my only option was a buy back. I decided to just buy an official one in the end since I knew they were the best and they were nice enough to discount $5 off of my purchase for the inconvenience. Honestly a great place to buy gaming stuff old and new, they even get new releases 2 WEEKS BEFORE THEY COME OUT. Although they are a little pricey and if you're looking to trade in games then I'd say either look for another place or sell them yourself.

Negative experience: They raised the prices a 5$ game went to 30$ in two months and the game online is 10$
