Negative experience: Started taking my ps3 apart without my permission after i told him it was broken and doesn’t turn on. Also offers really low

Negative experience: BUYERS BEWARE... I have purchased many games from Oldskool thinking everything I bought was authentic. Just to now notice that the Pokémon sapphire game I purchased from them is a complete fake. It's been too long to return it; however, I know if I did try to return it, they would gaslight me and say I didn't purchase it from them! I've tried to return a few other games within the return window, and they will either tell you that you never purchased it from them, or they never had the game in the store before. Their pricing sticker with their store logo will still be on the item and they will still insist that you didn't purchase it from the store. They will tell you your game is to scratched to return but sold it to you in that same scratched condition with no issues! I'm all for supporting small businesses but not when they're ripping people off just to maximize their profit! Make sure you check for authenticity will all high-ticket items you buy from here especially Pokémon, cause once you walk out of this store they will pretend like they never seen you or that item before!

Fantastic experience: I was actually referred here by another game store. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The store has a variety of games and accessories. This place is a one stop shop. They also offer military discount.

Fantastic experience: I came in just because I’ve never walked in before and I’m happy I did! As soon as I walked in I was greeted and the gentleman was very nice and knowledgeable. They had every console section you could ask for and even some TCG. I eventually found a DS battery and the gentleman even gave me as much information as possible to help fix my DS. Ultimately stop by and give them a shot great product and even better customer service!

Fantastic experience: I was in a tight spot and didn't know where to well the quality pieces of my collection for more than 13 bucks. I brought in most of my collection (mostly pokemon games) and was offered quite a bit for the lot. Both cash and in store credit EXCEEDED my expectations. I was very happy with the deal I was given and I will highly be recommended these guys to my friends in the future. I will say the highlight of my visit was the genuine care provided by Lee. He was so fun to work with. And I really enjoyed hearing him eagerly call customers that had games I traded in on their waitlist ✨️ the way he'd say "hey, you know thay game you've been looking for forever? Fantastic experience: The other day, I came in with my son, whose a retro gamer, with his eye out for an original Gameboy. Expectations were low until I was greeted by Greg n Lee, who turned out to be bigger fanatics than my son. Well, a Gameboy had been on hold for a long time, and without hesitation, they decided to put the biggest smile on my son's face by offering to sell it to us. It's nickelodeon orange with a back-lit screen, MY SON IS IN HEAVEN!! For the past 3 days he hasn't put it down. Big thank you to these men who represented this nostalgic game store excellently!! We will definitely be back for more games and conversations with those two!!

Negative experience: Really tired of deciding to purchase games from Oldskool Video Game locations. Hoping management sees this and decides to take action. (I have gaming collection influence online)-so many people will see this review. Basically, I am an avid rare game collector and these stores luckily enough sell lots of Limited Run games. But, unfortunately they choose to buy the cheapest stickers imaginable and plaster them on the front covers like they are worthless. Every time I come here the stickers are impossible to take off without completely ruining the box. (They will tell you the stickers come off with heat) picture related, they don’t. In fact they just melt and damage the covers even more. It’s incredibly frustrating as a collector to have these cheap stickers plastered all over the case. I fell like management here dosent really care, or probably dosent really collect games themself. I will think twice before purchasing any game here again. This has happened to many time at these locations. I’ll stick to Video Game Haven, and GameStop until I hear management has decided to invest in the 99 cent stickers, over the 10 cent ones. Have a great day. Edit: Reply to response. Often times the stores or too busy to ask for extra assistance due to one person working inside with a long line. Second, I have asked for extra boxes before and was declined and told you didn’t have any. I’m sorry collector customers are not as important to you as the average customer. That’s why you’ll never truly be a great franchise.

Fantastic experience: If I could give this place 100 stars I would. I came in a several occasions to get my Wii U issues fixed and they were very helpful and did more to help then I expected. I think their names were chris and derek. If I misspelled it I'm sorry, I just know one had glasses and short hair and the other one had redish hair with tattoos. Any how Those dudes are awesome. Other companies should learn from these two when it comes to customer service. Go here before you go to any other game stores.

Positive experience: EDIT: Had an amazing experience at the Portsmouth location. Upping the initial review for this location to a 1 to a 3 star. Had 3 different conversations about having a game on hold. I called asking about a super nintendo and DKC1 and DKC2. Was told that the items would be held for me. I get there 40 mins later and was told that the previous person didn't check to see if DKC1 was on hold first before telling me he'd hold it for me. ( my items were in a box waiting for me when I got there) Because of that I was told I had to wait for the initial person who had a game on hold to wait for their 48 hour window to be up before I could grab the game. After checking out the employee checked the hold and assured me multiple times that if I came in the very next day and the game wasnt picked up after 5 it would be mine. This was on 1/24/23 Called at 6pm the following day 1/25/23 asked if the game was available for pick up and was told that it was on hold until the 27th for someone else I informed the associate about my previous conversation and the associate said he cant release the game because there is a line and that the associate I spoke to didnt check the line. What good is holding things if you're not taking a deposit or getting any customer information to put with the hold to know who the hold is even for I'm not going to play phone and store tag over a cheap 27 dollar game. could care less about the price I just wanted to support local but immediately after that phone conversation I ordered it from DKOLDIES who also has a 1 year guarantee. The light skinned black guy I worked with ( sorry I dont remember your name) your customer service was great. He said the previous person didnt check to see it was on hold and then the person I spoke to today said the same thing but about him.

Fantastic experience: I have been wanting another N64 for years after I tragically lost mine. These guys were very nice and hooked me up with a deal. Two beautiful remotes as well as a Nintendo 64 at a killer deal. They even switched out the analog sticks on the controllers free if charge since they were loose. Definitely shop here!!!

I came with my fiance and was just looking for a regular old PSP and unfortunately didn't find one but did end up chatting with other customers and the man working there for quite a while. Positive experience: Great local video game store for the most part. Lots of good games find their way in there and they've got reasonable prices. However, whenever I have gone in to this location, there is usually one or two employees that always make me uncomfortable. In the times that I've interacted with them, they usually make very "off-color" jokes with each other or to the customers. These jokes are usually about sensitive topics too and it's shocking to hear something like that in a business environment. They never come across as funny and they always make me and my friends very uncomfortable. It's surprising considering they are grown men and it just comes off as completely unprofessional. Again, the store itself is great, but I think from now on I'll be visiting their other locations instead of the Hampton one.

Positive experience: I was honestly disappointed. I had been looking forward to checking this place out for a while since I live a good distance away but was really let down. Their slogan about high prices being in another castle is so far off base. For example Halo MCC was priced at 40 dollars used and is 20 dollars new at walmart. PS1 greatest hits that can still be picked up on amazon for $20 sealed were going for 30+.That's just two examples, there were quite a few other games I saw that they were asking double or more for. The core N64 system was $170 plus which can be picked up on ebay all day long for under $100. Either the shop is not updating their prices daily which they also say on their site or this is just another over priced store on par with Gamestop. They did have plenty of NES games but I dont think I will be going back there. The only bright side was the guy behind the counter was extremely nice and helpful to everyone in the store.

Fantastic experience: Great trade values on everything from Atari era to PS5 era. Have accessories and games available for basically every console you could think of. If they don't have it in stock they offer to order it for you if it's something readily available. They also sell Funko Pops, new releases, obscure releases, etc. They carry video game soundtracks on vinyl and some select wall art and action figures/collectibles. Good return policies comparable to national chains. They do sell preowned AND new games. Very big selection of original Xbox and PS2/PS3/X360 games. Was able to find some pretty rare games for Nintendo DS and N64 here. Have purchased probably two dozen games from this particular location and have yet to have a problem with the condition of the games. They even sell protectors for their Funko Pops if you choose to do so, and at a fair price. There are currently 2 other locations besides this one, and they are able to check other stores to see if they have something in particular you are looking for. The only thing that bums me out about the store is that they do NOT carry strategy guides. Parking can also be tricky, as there are not many spaces in this strip center.

Fantastic experience: Love this place with all my heart there's always nice customers and employees never have had a problem also they give way better trade in the silly gamestop I haven't shopped at any other game store since. Negative experience: They sold me a "brand new xbox 1 controller" no plastic wrap around it, i said something about it he assured me everything was okay so i took it home. 3 days later both of the bumpers aren't working every time i click them and i try to take it back for a exchamge and he said he cant do that he can only do store credit for what the controller is worth which was 25 dollars.... place sells old consoles and it's cool sure, but this experience left a baaad tast in my mouth

He explained how they can get their hands on just about anything I was looking for and didn't push a single thing on me other than their store rewards. This guy also knew his games. I was referred over to OldSkool Games by a representative at games stop and when I walked inside the environment and setting is a games dream and the knowledge of the games and systems is amazing. Originally I went into the Commander Shepard location for a PS3 controller but was taken back by the game I have not heard since I was a toddler was just amazing. Fantastic experience: I came to this place, and the customer service is excellent, fast, and friendly. This store has a vast selection of games, from NES to Switch! I would definitely recommend this place to other Nintendo, Play Station, and Xbox fans! The price is also very friendly, as I bought a game for $30 less than its original value ($40). One of the best parts: if you are still in school, then for every "A" you receive on your report card, you can get 30% off of ANY game! 10/10!

Fantastic experience: Great nostalgic gamer spot. Plenty for my 14-year-old as well as for his 45+ year-old parents who still play Atari, Nintendo, Sega and PS1. The kid will even get discounts for each A on his report card. That's what I'm talking about. We WILL frequent this place. :)

Fantastic experience: Old Skool has an amazing selection and an amazing staff who are always willing to help, answer questions, and engage with their customers. I have over a dozen consoles including handhelds and Old Skool has games and accessories (some of which are very hard to find) for all of them. As far as pricing, they are consistently lower than GameStop, EBay, and even Craigslist in most cases. They are very fair with trades too, giving more for cash or trade than GameStop on almost everything. They have 3 locations and all of them are great, however, the Commander Shepard location is my go to just because the staff is so incredible. Old Skool wins out even among other independent gaming stores like Cool Stuff and Video Game Heaven, both of which are overpriced as hell and feel more like a Hot Topic than a game store. In short, if you’re not shopping at Old Skool, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

Positive experience: Good shop. Knowledgable staff. You go in there selling anything expect the same pawn shop style clerks and know what your stuff is worth or else you WILL get got lol. Dont go to this table without knowing how to play the game

I was looking for 2 years for a limited edition game that they don’t make anymore and would cost me $100+ dollars elsewhere. They made one phone call and got it for me in three days for over half the price I was going to pay.

Traded in some games. The only reason not 5/5 for overall is because both times I was in there with different employees they always took customers ahead of me even though I got there first. Fantastic experience: I was referred to this game store by an employee at Gamestop. I wanted to trade in some games and look for new ones that were older and Gamestop was of no help, besides the advice to go to this store. Upon entering, the staff was able to answer my questions and was very polite along with quick. Not only were they able to help with trade-in's but also had the old playstayion games i wanted. Fantastic experience: As a game collector, I had to drop in and check out Oldskool when I saw they had a Hampton location. I was greeted by Kyle who was very courteous and helpful. The selection was good, the games were in collection condition. The store was very organized, clean and well lit. Overall I think this is going to be a great place to shop, they even have a customer loyalty program that seems like a great deal. If you are interested in old games or prefer to not shop at a chain this seems like a great shop.

Fantastic experience: So much better than other video game stores. They don't try to rob you with only giving you a penny for a game you want to trade in. Andrew is way super helpful and very knowledgeable. Store is clean, they have a great selection of games and devices. If they don't have what you're looking for they have a binder you can put a request in for said item. Love it! Won't take my business anywhere else.

You guys know me! - From Atari to Nintendo Switch, they got it. - Smaller than almost every GameStop I’ve been to, and somehow manages to be better than GameStop. - Staff is extremely kind, pretty much answers any question they can. Informative, and even gave us free race tickets once. - Prices are better than GameStop prices, guarantees better prices and trade values than them. - They have a discount called “Games For Grades,” it’s if you bring in a report card before two weeks after it’s been issued, they give you a discount card. You can then use that discount card one time every visit. Every “A” is a 30% off and every “B” is 10% off. You can only use the discount on games. - Great size and very well organized. - Three displays. A Wii U display, and two displays that change from time to time. - They get new stuff in a lot, so if they don’t have what you are looking for, keep coming back! There is also a wish list. You write your name, number, and item you want and they’ll call you when they get it in. Something else that’s amazing is that it’s right next to a Marco’s! Jokes aside, I recommend this to anybody who has any love for video games, and returns are accepted within a week. They can clean game discs for two bucks.

Fantastic experience: You know, I used to go to GameStop. It was OK there, everything was expensive and I only really went into the Xbox section. Then, while I was going to get Mexican down in suffolk, I noticed a game store on the side. I walked in, and I never went to a GameStop again. Just recently I heard a new location opened up, and even if I haven't been yet, I can tell it's really good! I really hope this place gets popular, but if you do, don't be like GameStop!
