GAME OVER VIDEO GAME CONSOLE REPAIR.

Negative experience: Dropped off my Xbox about a month ago and was told it would only be a couple of days to repair. Called back a couple of times asking about when it would be finished, first time was told they needed to order parts which is fine, second time was a couple weeks ago they never worked on it and were apologetic, called back again today and was told again that it still isn’t finished. Each time was told they’d call me back, and never got anything. Will update when I receive the console, not worth the hassle.

Fantastic experience: Stopped by to ask about repairs for a ps3 & super nintendo. They have a great selection of og video games so I managed to leave the store with something. Very nice lady who assisted me as well. I will for sure return with something for them to fix soon!

Positive experience: I sent in a Nintendo Wii to get repaired, and they immediately recognized the problem I initially had, and then found something else to get fixed at no extra cost. Communication was admittedly not the best because I never received a call to pick it up, so it took me a few extra days to actually do so, but in the times where I did call to ask for updates, they were super concise and polite, and now my Wii apparently works better than it did before it started having problems. They really know their stuff and offer a great service.

Fantastic experience: Got my 3DS XL repaired by Eddie, was able to repair all what I asked for and even fixed the outside Streetpass button without asking! Really nice an respectful, definitely recommend and even recommends advice after to keep it from damaging! Thanks so much!

Fantastic experience: Ps5 was overheating and wouldn’t turn on, they fixed it within a day! I was dreading having to buy a new console, so they saved me a ton! Staff were very friendly and told me how to preserve my Ps5’s longevity.

Negative experience: They managed to fix my ps5 but after I tried to move my ps5 to another location the hdmi broke again for 100$ i would have expected better quality work update: I took it to a new place they found black stuff on the silver part of the console luckily they fixed it within a day!

Fantastic experience: For years I’ve been afraid of bringing my cherished childhood PS2 to the wrong place to be repaired. I found this place via glowing reviews on some chicago reddit, and they really were true: this is a mom n pop type place that really knows what they are doing. More than fair pricing. I’ve brought my 360, PS4, and PS2 here this year, and everything was handled above and beyond. When something didn’t go right with my 360 after bringing it home, they took it back and solved the problem ASAP for no additional charge. There was some telephone tag that happened after I first brought my 360 They needed a part and it took longer than expected. But I never got the sense that they were ducking me, and was very reassured based on what was explained to me once we eventually connected. I hope one day long in the future this place is regarded as a true Chicago institution.

Negative experience: The staff were very nice and accomodating to my schedule, and they waived the charge for my repair, but that's about all I have for positive feedback. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. This incident happened in December 2024 and the following January. I didn't bother posting this review for a long time because I wanted to wash my hands of it, but upon seeing other, newer reviews have the same issues as I did, I wanted to post this to warn others. For context, I am a disabled wheelchair user and cannot go to pick up or drop off my system myself unless I have help from my family, so I mostly communicated with the staff via phone. My 3DS touchscreen was malfunctioning and I sent notes of what I wanted to be repaired along with my father when he dropped my off my system, but something apparently went wrong when the clerk gave these notes to the repairman, because after 3 weeks of calling and waiting ad nauseum, I received my 3DS with a replaced TOP screen, and the same malfunctioning touchscreen I sent it in with. The top screen had not been broken. After sending it back, the touch screen had been finally replaced, but the SD card slot was broken and now my 3DS is unable to load any of my saved game data. During those 3 weeks of waiting, I was told over the phone they had had a gas leak for a few weeks that made them unable to use their building, which is completely understandable and I didn't fault them for. However, once I went in person I was told that there never was a gas leak and that the employee who told me that would be fired. As you can see in the other reviews, this employee has likely not actually been fired, as others have noted that they received the gas leak excuse. While I wasn't angry about the alleged gas leak during the 3-week wait, I was frustrated that they apparently couldn't spare 30 seconds to give me a quick call to say the repairs would be delayed. Repeatedly, they assured me that they would call me with updates, but they literally never did, not once. All of the updates I had to call in myself to get, which were an endless series of telling me that one thing or another had gone wrong or that they were definitely surely certainly were almost done. I tried to manually move my raw save data off of the SD card, wipe it, and then move it back onto the card to try it again. I also tried to move this raw save data to a completely new card, but neither worked, proving that the SD card reader itself was broken. When I told them about the now-broken card slot, they scolded me for messing with the software when removing the card, because apparently they think I caused it by making Nintendo think I jailbroke my 3DS or some other garbage like that, and that they would "talk with Nintendo" about getting my data back. I'm not a repairman, but I'm not stupid. That's straight up not how the software works. Nintendo does not just have my 3DS save data laying around. After this, they then tried to soften the blow by offering me free games from their shop or giving me a free refurbished PS5. I didn't want any of that. I just wanted my 3DS fixed, but they couldn't even manage that. Additionally, when my dad dropped off my 3DS for the final time to get the touch screen replaced, they asked if I or my friend had left an angry review, the review left by "Joey". It was not me, because I'm leaving my name attached to this one and don't have any reason not to. No, it's not my friends. Frankly I'm kind of insulted that they asked my dad about this, because their response to Joey's review is weird and unprofessional. Overall, I don't reccommend them. I don't doubt that other people have had great experiences with them, and I don't want to shittalk a small business for no good reason, but I honestly don't have much good to say about this all.

Negative experience: I went to see what games I could find for Xbox that i missed out on from back in my day and I was interested in 4 games, jade empire, king kong, and prototype 1 and 2 but 3 of them had scratches and smudges underneath the discs. Hence they were cheap. I asked if i could try them and return them if they didn't work? The lady that was there, honestly felt out of place and looked like she didn't know what she was doing or trying to say. Told me sure and that if I wanted the disc's cleaned I need to take them somewhere else because they don't do that here. Right, So a video game repair shop doesn't clean or maintain it's video game inventory? Ok? I was interested in other games but they didn't have them in that shop and I spent about 15 to 20 mins looking and it's 50/50 if you can find a clean copy. I was ready to pay, but their card reader wasn't working that day I guess and I don't carry cash, so I couldn't pay for what I wanted and so just left. i wasted my time for nothing great, thanks. Well, I ain't coming back to this store that's for sure. Such a shame.

Fantastic experience: Went there to have my PS5 fixed, I couldn't get anywhere with my setup because my controllers refused to sync with it. There was a problem with the port on the console, which Eddy fixed very quickly (got it back the same day) and even gave me an extra wire since the usb-c to usb wire I had wouldn't be accomodated by the new port. Very communicative and helpful. Not the first console they have helped me with and (should the need arise) it won't be the last! Thanks!

Negative experience: You can say the owner is a little too blunt when accessing the dusty PS5. Some things should be kept to your self! Also I would not recommend getting your PS5 HDMI, fixed by them I paid $100 so, every two weeks taking it back to get it fixed. Owner kept on saying it was our fault. Sometimes they even try not to take the job by discouraging us saying it’s cheaper to buy a new system. I had to take my PS5 to Ubreakfix. Never again!!!

Negative experience: I brought in my PS4 to get it repaired since it kept shutting off. The guy grabbed my console after giving me no information about price or repair time, I had to ask. Days went by of me expecting a phone call from them, and it never came. I had to call them, very unprofessional. When I returned to pay for the repair he wanted me to pay with Zelle??? I’ve never heard of a 100% legal established business refusing payment through credit cards ok. And what’s worse of all, my console didn’t even get repaired. It shut off as soon as I turned it back on again. These guys basically took my console and probably would’ve sold it if I never called and then asked for a $50 ransom

Negative experience: They are terrible at communicating and keep piling on excuses, make empty promises regarding when it’ll be looked at or when the job will be complete. Very unprofessional. Would give 0 starts but unfortunately I have to give 1 to write a review. Don’t waste your time people.

Positive experience: Dropped off my New 3DS XL for a charging port repair. I came in after they told me it was ready. They said one of their employees didn’t actually fix it but that they would fix it on the spot for me. Not only did they have it fixed within the hour, but they didn’t charge me and they gave me a free charger. They also have a very generous 90 day warranty. They offered us water while we waited and the employees were super sociable. I did call a couple times over the course of the 2 weeks. I did get sent to voice mail a few times, but when they did pick up they were very apologetic and they informed me about my repair status. Would definitely recommend!

Negative experience: It's pretty rare to give a bad review but I dropped off four controllers to be fixed as my dog had gotten to the joysticks. I was told 2-3 days and never got a call until I called a week later myself. They told me two controllers were fixed and they would have the other two fixed by the time I picked up at 6 that day. I dropped by at 7PM to be told all four controllers aren't able to be fixed due to bad boards. The controllers might have been broke and there could have been a mistake but really bad communication even if they had a mishap. If you're close, maybe give a try, but I wouldn't drive past 20 minutes for this place.

Negative experience: Brought my switch in initially because it would no longer charge. I didn’t get any follow up calls or anything until i called a week after dropping it off, where they then told me it was ready. I was told they wouldn’t charge me because it took over a week which i thought was great until i came home and my switch still didn’t work. I was told to bring it back in , which i did. They told me they would give me an update by the end of next day. Again, no call or update. It then just leads into a continuous cycle of them telling me it will be finished by the end of the day and ill get a call with an update. Never once did i receive a call from them ever for any update or even when my switch repair was “completed”. I picked it up after three weeks of them having it, in which they told me it was fixed but no details to what they did nor did it turn on when they gave it back to me. Came home and it still does not work when i try to charge it.

Negative experience: This place ABSOLUTELY SUCKS !!!! I took in my ps5 to fix the hdmi port. Fast forward 3 days later they didn’t fix anything. I called up there for an update and they was rude about it, just for them to not even fix the hdmi port to begin with. Do not bring anything here!!! I hope this place closes down and never reopen.!!!!!!

Negative experience: These people suck. My partner brought in a Game Cube to get fixed and it was a total process. First we drop it off and are told an update would be provided in a couple days. Groovy. Well a week goes by with no updates. We then call and are told “oh there was a gas leak. We’ll have an update in a few days” uhh okay. Sure. Another week goes by with no updates. Call AGAIN and are very conveniently told “oh yea it’s ready.” We go the next day and pick up the system. The woman who hands over the system doesn’t say anything and we have to ask what exactly was fixed. She goes “oh uh…the laser”. We look at the system and she then quickly says “but there’s a 90 day return policy if it doesn’t work.” Seems odd to blurt that out immediately if it’s appropriately fixed. We get home and lo and behold the system still continues with the same issue as it had at drop off and now it’s back to factory settings. We call the next day, during business hours, and have to leave a voicemail explaining how it’s still not fixed. By the end of the business day no call back. The whole next day no response. We call again and no answer. Called a THIRD time and finally someone answers. We give the info and he goes “oh yea I got your voicemail.” This place is not only some of the worst customer service but also an absolute scam.

I am so grateful for their Generosity, especially Maria, who accommodated me. I have immense appreciation for the skilled technicians at Raul’s shop; they expertly repaired my two DualSense controllers during my first visit, impressing me with their proficiency. The staff were honest in their dealings and charged a surprisingly affordable rate for their quality of work. They fixed my sister's Nintendo DS, they fixed my ps3 and Nintendo switch controllers and the best part are the reasonable prices for fixing consoles. Eddie and Ramiro have always been polite, welcoming and very helpful. I’ve also bought multiple ps3 and ps4 games for really good prices. I’ve literally bought more than 10 games just because the prices were too good. They also have vintage games and consoles for fair prices like the Nintendo 64 and NES. I recommended all of my gamer friends to come to this place!

Fantastic experience: They fixed my Nintendo Wii! Turns out that they needed to replace the capacitors, and I also needed to get the Official/Non-Third Party Power and AV cables for the console, which they provided for me at no extra charge and was very nice of them. Price for the repair was not bad and definitely reasonable. Better yet, they have an amazing selection of purchasable games from popular consoles that we all know and love. Negative experience: Came in to swap a ps4 controller battery because they told me on the phone they wouldn’t sell me the battery by itself. I was told it takes 2-3 days. I can do it myself in 2 min but they still wouldn’t sell me the battery even after I said I was willing to pay full repair price for just the battery. You couldn’t explain yourself if you tried it’s just bad business

Long story but my daughter's birthday was recent and I decided to get her a Nintendo wii as she wanted Wii sports to play , sadly the refurbished system I had bought from an online reseller arrived and the discs could not be read for any of the games I purchased . My daughter was sad , but after I told her that I'd take it to get fixed she couldn't wait to play . Fast forward this store had the nicest staff and were very responsive to updates regarding my console repair . The repair was not only affordable but prompt in the turnaround time . Fantastic experience: Brought into their store a PlayStation 2 Slim that was having disc reading errors and they were able to fix it in a timely manner. I have since tested it and the problem it was having before is now gone. They simple replaced the laser disc reader and charged me 55$ but I paid 60$ for a job well done. I would highly recommend them as they seem to know what they are doing when it comes to fixing old consoles and I sure know I deeply appreciate their help fixing my baby.

Fantastic experience: Had an excellent experience with GAME OVER. I needed my motherboard replaced on my Nintendo GameCube and they were able to get it done extremely quickly and for a very reasonable price. Not to mention everyone I spoke to both on the phone and in person was very knowledgeable and super friendly! They also had an awesome selection of vintage games for sale!
