While there have been mentions of high traffic days, especially when selling equipment, the general feedback points towards a solid shopping experience at this GameStop location.
GameStop: Reviews
Positive experience: Great place, but very busy yesterday, especially when the person in front of you is trying to sell equipment.
Negative experience: Tried to return a game and the girl at the register said it was exchange only. Ok, let’s do it! Nope, it has to be for the same game which they don’t have. My husband asks if we can exchange it for something else, her reply was “I don’t know.” That was it, no other assistance. We took the game and left. Won’t be back.
Positive experience: Idk if the new interactions are "mandated" but they sure are fun. Not a fan of the overpriced TCG or the CEO though.
Negative experience: A complete and total breakdown of not only customer service but sales. I called to check of availability and price of an item and was told there were multiple for a certain price, I informed the employee I was driving out to purchase them. When I arrived at the store they told me where they where and I grabbed them and waiting in line to purchase two of them only to be told at the last moment I cannot purchase two without a paid membership, on top of the fact that each item was actually $10 more than I was told over the phone. I really don't appreciate being told incorrect information but also being swindled at the register to get me to pay $25 more in order to purchase two small items. To make it even worse I reached out to corporate for a solution and was told they would take care of the situation only to ignore me. This is enough for me to never purchase anything from any GameStop, on top of the fact that you're scalping.
Negative experience: Id give no stars if possible the girl behind the counter never even turned around to greet me and the guy with blue hair told me they couldn't do anything to help me even though i had already spoken to multiple locations that confirmed they could. But when I come in blue hair guy has a nasty attitude. Fyi Gamestop these employees are costing you sales and money. Go to any other store than this one boycott these miserable employees
Fantastic experience: I love the atmosphere and the vibe. It's definitely a good place to go geek out when you're not loading up on the latest gear
Negative experience: On Tuesday Feb 17th 2026 around 3-4pm, I entered this store, as I have many times, carrying my 3 lb dog Alfie(the smallest dog I’ve ever seen) who goes everywhere with me. Girl at the front desk asks if she can help me, and I said I was there to BUY a specific game with MONEY. When she noticed my dog, she then said “well not with your dog unless you have proof he’s a therapy dog.” When I told her that’s not how it works and his vest is too big, he doesn’t wear one because I carry him, she literally said “well im sure they make them in that size.” This girl REFUSED a guaranteed sale, a three minute transaction, and made me LEAVE THE STORE because my dog, who has been in this store a dozen times, doesn’t have a vest on. I was THE ONLY customer there. I worked at this location back when it was EB Games, helped during the transition, and have shopped here for 20 years. I’ll never be back. Can’t remember her name, but it was the only worker there on the day and time above.
Fantastic experience: I haven't been in a physical GameStop location for a while, but the interactions and guest services that Nico provided me upon just opening the door will make sure I keep coming back!
Negative experience: I have been in this store a few times in the last few months with my boyfriend and every single time the same employee has been extremely disrespectful to both of us. We have also witnessed several employees being disrespectful and rude to other customers as well.
Negative experience: Miserable experience. Rudest employees I’ve encountered in a long time. Went in to purchase a $500 gaming system for my kid and they acted like they were doing me a favor. Customer service is dead. Looking at all the reviews seems like owner needs to vet his employees better.
Negative experience: Wow. Manager ought to be fired. Cant believe there’s so many similar reviews of miserable employees and nothings changed. Came here for Christmas shopping at 2:30. As I’m walking in an employee is shutting the door on me walking out and locking it, then, without the courtesy of telling me what’s going on, simply snaps her finger at a sign on the door (see picture). I understand lunch breaks but rudeness when a customer is walking in? I asked her if they had a particular product and she said “I think we have it” as she walked away towards her lunch destination. Without turning around. She came back and then locked the door again on herself as she walked in. 45 minute uninterrupted lunch break at a retail store? Never got that when I worked retail. There’s a ton of game stop locations in Louisville. Go to anyone but this one! Owner, find a new store manager that cares about their employees and and customer experience. Never coming back to this location.
Negative experience: Rudest employees. Seriously. Nico honestly makes me nervous to even shop there in fear of being judged. This person treats shoppers like they are stupid, and is unhelpful. Extremely rude for no reason.
Positive experience: Nico was great despite being the only employee there with a dozen customers to help and the phone ringing off the hook. GameStop needs to have more than one person on duty - or at least give Nico a raise if this is what they normally have to deal with.
Negative experience: Aug 1st 2025 at 7:47pm the little bald white girl who works here needs to be fired she's rude as hell yall shouldn't employ people like that no wonder everyone hates this location
Fantastic experience: Good videos games
Fantastic experience: Kenz was professional and attentive. Great experience.
Negative experience: Went in to return a joycon that was defective the day after it was purchased and they wouldn’t even look at it. Just said their machine was down so they couldn’t test it. They obviously didn’t test it before they took it as trade so don’t know why they acted like they have to now. It was apparent the two guys working just wanted to get back to their conversation. No wonder this company is going under.
Negative experience: Little skinny blonde girl with a pronoun badge was rude and forceful with her service, we were followed through the store constantly being asked about anything we were looking at, when I finally had the two games I went to check out then she asked for my ID because she couldn't tell my age which I have been well over 18 and she said I will check any guys id, then I asked to see the condition of the disk and she held it up I held my hand out and she yanked the disk back while saying you can not touch it till it's paid for -.- I seriously hate people like her and when I paid she tossed them over the counter.... Axel was always really cool and welcoming but this chick wasn't.....
Negative experience: They must be down bad I am so disappointed in all the extra runarounds to do simple things and try and swindle you out of a warranty I don't think I will ever deal with a game stop again between this store and the one in the mall it was like they were trying to get over on you and even though I didn't make a fuss about anything during I was gonna make sure I posted a review they are complete swindlers by far the worst experience in a game stop
Negative experience: What a miserable store. Very messy and some of the rudest employees I've ever encountered in retail.
Negative experience: I stood at register waiting to check out for 20min being patient as the worker was occupied. Left when he/she checked out 2 other people. (Both of which were behind me in order).
Fantastic experience: All GameStop Locations in Louisville are awesome for me. Axyl has done me a lot of great service
Negative experience: Customer service was not great at all and didn't have doors open until 20 minutes after 12pm when they were supposed to open
Fantastic experience: Una pregunta ustedes compran juegos de ps4
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately had issues with the system, game, and controller I purchased, but Axle resolved all problems with a great attitude and customer service. Yeah, it sucks when you buy pre-owned and stuff doesn’t work, but a friendly staff the solves issues makes this a location well worth visiting.
Negative experience: Randomly closed during work hours 338pm Sunday Aug 18th 2024.
Negative experience: Today is March 8 2024 2:30pm. That’s the time and date I came into the store. I walk in I speak and say hello 2 times and the lady behind the counter doesn’t say anything, she keeps her back, turned toward me as she is unloading video games out of the boxes for a minute as I’m standing there waiting on her so I can purchase a game. On the third time of me speaking she finally turns around and speaks. She wasn’t friendly, she was pretty rude. I wanted to walk out without even buying anything but I stayed because I made the drive. Anyway I was glad to finally be able to walk out of that store with my game but I won’t be coming back at all.
Fantastic experience: Had a kit I really wanted.
Fantastic experience: Bought the new x box for my nephew. Had no clue but the staff helped me out.
Fantastic experience: Great staff
Positive experience: it's a gamestop alright
Positive experience: Good stock of games
Negative experience: Greg. Without a doubt the strangest and rudest interaction I have ever had in a retail environment. Do not patronize this Gamestop. I walked in and grabbed a game off the shelf. An associate named Greg rudely told me those are display games- obviously because they dont have price tags and there are several of them- and I have to get one behind the counter. Stupid me... I continue to browse and brush off this awkward, impolite greeting. When I go to check out Greg starts his rehearsed pitch about a gamestop membership. As he begins I casually tell him no thanks, I am not interested- something many normal people do when asked about memberships during checkout. Instead of checking me out, Greg gets angry with me and tells me that it his job to pitch a membership and that I should have let him do his job. I tell him I am not interested, no need to try and upsell me. He furiosly insists that it is HIS JOB- and I am wrong for interrupting him. I should let him do his job. Amid my confusion Greg tells me that I am being rude and interrupting him, and that he will not sell me the game because of that. What?? I thought it was a joke... and was dumbfounded for a moment. Getting furious and refusing service simply because a customer is not interested and brushed off a sales pitch. This associate is clearly unhappy with something in his life and uses his authority as a Gamestop associate to exercise authority over customers. His reaction and treatment of customers is unfathomable and I would advise anyone in Gamsetop management to have Greg in a position that is far away from customer interaction. Greg lost your store over $100 in a very easy sale. Given his attitude and generally offputting demeanor I expect this is not the first time. I will not be returning and highly advise anyone considering this Gamestop to go elsewhere.
Negative experience: They don't know how to answer the phone
Negative experience: Never contacted me about my funko pops.
Fantastic experience: I went to this game stop in search for Xbox 360 and Wii games. I got exactly what I wanted and more! The staff was nice, friendly, and happy to help me. I will definitely be back!
Positive experience: Nice staff easy to talk
Fantastic experience: Good staff
Fantastic experience: I literally got all my Christmas stuff for my entire family there after the holiday and everything got picked through and they were very impressed with their gifts that I had to confess where I got them from. The staff is also very personable and helpful as well
Negative experience: The staff had no clue what they were talking about, then shamed me when I didn't want to get the protection plan.
Negative experience: Employee wasn’t wearing a mask and was rude, didn’t even try to help out with what I was looking for. Told me it was too late to preorder a game that isn’t out for two weeks, but another GameStop in the area was able to help me.
Negative experience: I bought NBA 2k22 Legendary Edition for Xbox series X and I paid for a GameStop Pro account. The Legendary edition comes with a digital voucher for Xbox One version. The voucher didn’t work. I asked a younger thin guy with glasses and patchy hair in the front for help getting the voucher to work. He barked sternly “You’re going to have to call customer service Sir.” He talks down to you but remembers to say “Sir” Plus, I was promised a 10 dollar coupon for signing up to pro. That didn’t happen either. I feel like they stole my money and he’s happy about it. Again, call customer service. The reason I support brick and mortar stores is for customer service. I won’t be back at this GameStop again.
Fantastic experience: Nice staff, along with a variety of games to choose from.
Negative experience: Said they couldn’t hear me when I called but replied no when asked could they hear me. Make that make sense…
Negative experience: Gates were still down and phone was out after 10am when i tried calling to see if the hours posted on google and in the store window were correct. Came here to make a pre-order and now have to rearrange my day to try to stop at another location later on.
Negative experience: Didn't Have any game systems for sale....."ANY GAME SYSTEMS"!!!
Negative experience: Employees don't even pretend to wear masks.
Fantastic experience: They always have new games in stock
Fantastic experience: There was a good selection of items and the staff was quick to complete my purchase. They were knowledgeable about items in the store when my Grandmother asked questions and I will be excited to visit again when the time comes. Good job! :D
Fantastic experience: Nice helpful staff.
Negative experience: Just told everyone waiting on line the they are closed for the day and have no preorders for ps5 available. What a joke.
Fantastic experience: Great workers and nice store clean very nice place would recommend
Fantastic experience: Had the game my son wanted
Positive experience: Still a little pricey.
Fantastic experience: A gamers place to find good deals
Negative experience: Rude people. They carry on conversations between themselves when checking you out. No thanks or have a nice at all. Won't be getting any more of my business.
Positive experience: The staff is a little hit and miss but definately one of my preferred stores in Louisville
Positive experience: When is the going out of business sale?
Fantastic experience: They pretty fair with trade in n stuff
Fantastic experience: Came in tonight and Kara helped me out. She was super knowledgeable, friendly and professional! I'm not a gamer and know absolutely nothing about games. I was there getting games for my son and husband. I would've been completely lost without her help! She was also really nice and patient with me and my 2 kids! If I ever come back to a Gamestop it'll definitely be this one!!
Positive experience: Nothing fancy. Came in here to buy a used game controller. Not especially cheap, but aside from breaching the invisible DMZ behind the counter, at least I got to hold the thing before deciding. Meh.
Fantastic experience: Great service
Negative experience: Overpriced
Positive experience: Got my oil slick PlayStation mug here , couldn't find it in Ohio ,glad I came here, I was on vacation
Positive experience: Awesome game store
Positive experience: Ok
Positive experience: Love the games
Fantastic experience: Great
Fantastic experience: Great
Negative experience: Absolutely trash avoid like a virus
Fantastic experience: Its was good..
Positive experience: Like it. Don't sell them stuff
Fantastic experience: Isaiah was super cute
Fantastic experience: Wonderful service there always amazing it's just an all-around great place to get games I love it thanks guys
Negative experience: They carry a good selection of new and used games for most recent systems but not for previous systems.
Fantastic experience: I was looking for a specific item and this store had one left. I drove 40 minutes to get it and the clerk had taken it off the shelf and held it for me. Great customer service!
Fantastic experience: Always fun to look at games here
Positive experience: I mean it's GameStop it was alright
Fantastic experience: .Great
Positive experience: If you're a gamer this place is awesome!
Fantastic experience: The staff are very helpful and knowedgeable. Lots of games and related merch.
Fantastic experience: You know this is the place for the latest games. The staff always knows what is popular and has great recommendations.
Negative experience: Everyone hates GameStop..
Fantastic experience: Great service
Positive experience: Had to wait patiently while cashier talked with her friend because I didn't want to be rude. Took a while to get me squared away but cashier was friendly over all
Fantastic experience: Games everywhere.
Positive experience: We like to sell back our used games. we don't get much back but it's cool because we aren't playing them anyway. I love to browse and see what new items they have. Staff is always friendly
Fantastic experience: Great selection and a knowledgeable staff. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
Fantastic experience: Great location with a fantastic staff of employees! They are always friendly and helpful and I enjoy stopping in to browse on a regular basis. Definitely my favorite location.
Fantastic experience: Nice people
Negative experience: Bought two of the same headset-one for me and one for my roomate. Both listed as "New", thus commanding a 70$ price tag each. Got home, one had already been opened, used, and placed back in the box missing the manual and some of the padding for it in the box. NEVER shopping at this location again!
Fantastic experience: awesome customer service!!
Negative experience: Needed something unlocked. Said she will be right with me, then proceeds to chit chat with her co worker and have me hanging. It takes 2 seconds to unlock something. Really ?
Fantastic experience: Good quick efficient service.
Positive experience: If you go on a busy day dont expect the best service, decent store overall
Fantastic experience: Nice
Negative experience: Worst Experience I've ever had at Gamestop. I waited in line for 15 minutes. Was not upset at all by the wait. That was okay. I get to the counter and give my info for power up rewards. The employee enters in the info wrong and I don't get my 10% off. Okay. Void transaction start over. Still no big deal. What ticked me off is when the employee rings the items up. Two were priced wrong. So now my price is gonna be a mystery. The manager at the time refuses to change the price to reflect the advertised price. If that was all that went wrong I wouldn't complain. That wasn't it.... I pay for the items even though I disagreed on price. I get home. Guess what...? The employee forgot to put the games in the cases. I get home and paid 80 bucks for some empty cases. So I call. The employee answering the phone laughs like her job is a joke when she answers. Non professional. I inform them that the games were not in my cases. "Oh we have them here." No apology. Nothing. Now I have to drive back to a Gamestop I don't live near (I was visiting the area) an hour away to pick up Gamestops mistake. I will get my games. I will NEVER go back to that location. The Gamestop near me (in Shelbyville) does a great job. This one... laughably discusting. This review is for the S Hurstbourne Gamestop in Louisville KY. Event occured: 11/03/2017 Will edit if resolved.
Negative experience: Went into day to look around for pre own games. The clerk named jimmy was rude and disrespectful to us. We wanted to purchase a game the first Destiny for 2-3 bucks. I never played it, not a gamer. Just want something to play, Jimmy made a comment to my friend and I and said “are you sure you want this, you won’t get any DLC. I am sure no one plays this game anymore.”Do not judge people, it is tacky, unprofessional and rude. It’s a game, get over it. I rather play the first game for 2-3 bucks first, before buying the 2nd game for 50-60 bucks. We won’t be coming back to this location again.
Fantastic experience: Definitely one of the better gamestops. These guys are great.
Fantastic experience: The employees here go out of their way to make sure their customers get the best service.
