Fantastic experience: I first called asking if they could do a disk resurfacing the phone call was very pleasant and friendly he immediately diagnosed the problem and after bringing it in he told me there was a chance it wouldn't work as there was heat damage and the disk was splitting but i went through with it and it was well worth the $5.56!
Fantastic experience: This place has everything and for great prices. Was looking for some power cords and AV cables to go to some of my retro gaming consoles and they had them for way cheaper than anywhere else. Also, most places don't even sell them anymore. Definitely going back.
Fantastic experience: My new stop for new and used gaming good. They have it all even a few original nes titles. Bought a pre-owned Xbox one s from these guys, the console and 4 games I bought work perfectly. Staff was courteous and product knowledgeable. Gameware, you all just earned my business for good.

Negative experience: These guys are out right crooks! You got systems in here and games selling at the same price, if not more, as what they were 15-20 years ago. Call it "retro" What about a game token for $8 to play one of those Chuck-E-Cheese machines to get a little Japanese toy. They also sell defective gear. They also outright lie to you. I got a memory pack for the 64 and was told its new from a 3rd party, or I could get a used one. I got the new one, and when I got home, somehow there were saves on this new memory card. They took it back and I didnt even get a replacement. Just store credit. Absolute worst business ethics out there. Not to mention when I went in one day, an employee was arguing and threatening a customer over return policy. Very classy! It does have a 'decent' selection to look at, but that is all you want to do from this place.

Regarding the memory pack, it should have been brand new. Some Nintendo 64 games save directly onto the cartridge, so it’s possible the data you saw was from the game itself rather than the memory card. I’m sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
As for the interaction you witnessed, I’m sorry that it came across the way it did. The situation involved a customer with a long history of abusing our return policy and unfortunately it escalated. What you saw is not how we treat our customers, and I regret that it left a negative impression.
Retro game pricing can definitely be surprising, and I understand how that might raise questions. Many older titles now sell for far more than their original retail price, which is reflected on sites like eBay and PriceCharting.com
We do our best to thoroughly test all used merchandise, but if something slips through, I apologize for the inconvenience. That’s exactly why we offer a 90‑day warranty, along with a full refund within the first seven days. We want our customers to feel confident in what they purchase from us.
You were absolutely welcome to receive a refund for the memory card. I see that you chose to use the store credit toward another game, and if you’d prefer, you can still return that game for a full refund. I want to make sure you leave satisfied.

Fantastic experience: Im a frequent shopper at this location. I love the nostalgic feeling i get when i walk in. Very friendly employees...customer service is unmatched. I took in a console to get repaired and they had it fixed in a day for very reasonable price.
Fantastic experience: Great people always working to make sure you leave with what you need! I've gone a couple times to get different consoles fixed or repaired! After going to them a couple times I trust no one else to repair my consoles and handhelds
Fantastic experience: I bought a Game Boy Advance SP from Gameware. The system works really well and the games run great, which is the most important part. The only downside is the condition: the top and back both had a lot of scratches, and for $180 it felt a bit pricey for how worn the outside looked. Still, the console itself plays perfectly, so overall I’m happy with it — just be aware the cosmetic condition may vary. Also, the emoppyles were really nice and they have a great collection.
Negative experience: My brother went in this establishment today to look around. He parked in the handicap spot as he does at every place, he forgot to put his placard in view. The person working today told my brother to “go put your handicap placard in view since your real handicap” real sarcastically. Truly amazing how rude people can be not every disability is visible. Choose to be understanding instead of jumping to a conclusions. Let this be a learning opportunity today.

Fantastic experience: I've been to GameWare several times and I have had great experiences each time. There were two separate occasions in which I brought used games from the shelf to check out even though the cases were a little worse for wear. In both cases, the store had a much cleaner copy of the same game, case, and manual to sell me for the same price. Additionally, they have a disc cleaner and will make sure the discs are clean before you walk out of the door. While some other stores clean their discs behind the scenes as they come in, I like this better because it gives the customer reassurance that the disc has indeed gone through the cleaning process. I've enjoyed chatting with the staff while waiting for the cleaning process to finish.

No shame in asking silly questions about games, because that is their job!! Games are not over price because it is base off of what info they look up and checking the internet. They will always have smile with you no matter what and you will be happy with your purchases. This is just my ADVICE is that before you all go to leave the store ask them to play the games that you all have purchased to make sure that it works because sometimes the games doesn’t work. Mainly ask them to test out the used games. I am not saying that it is their fault but I am saying the games sometimes doesn’t even want to work at all. Be sure to ask them to test out the systems that you all are purchasing to be sure that it works because sometimes when you all don’t ask and go home and you all using it but all of sudden it doesn’t work at all then it won’t be the store fault tho, because they know it works just fine when they have it in their store. So they don’t know you did to the systems while it was in your hands. So don’t blame them. That is why I said ask them to test the games and the systems out before leaving the store. I say this because I want what is my money worth and buying it. But over all LOVE THIS PLACE!!! LOVE IT!!!! Of course this the same person who comes here a lot to buy games and trade ins too!!! Fantastic experience: I've been coming to both location of Gameware in Baton Rouge for the past 10+ years and I've never been disappointed with it since. Their catalogue of both retro and modern games is impressive giving the selection of the competition, the services provided are quick and professional level and the staff are friendly and willing to spend time with each customer to help each other out. I wouldn't give anything but the highest recommendation for this company and for the future of physical game media.
Negative experience: Went in with my children. Got a switch 2 game. No one offered to help us with anything. Got to the register. I was told by the guy at the register the game was for a Switch 2, which I do own. Have since they were 1st released btw... He asked me if I had the Swtich 2 system almost insinuating that I couldnt afford it. I made my purchase & left there to never return there again. Boy do I miss the awesome workers @ our closed down Gamestop.

Fantastic experience: Got a disc repaired here. Works really well, and the sales person was very professional and courteous. Plus, They have a lot of games you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Especially in the retro section. The prices are pretty decent, and they have a wide array of accessories. Each team member carries a high caliber of professionalism with them.
Positive experience: Im a frequent customer of gameware and im disappointed to say ive been let down this time i purchased a copy of pokemon white and silver white was perfect but silver on the other hand had no battery replacement its no problem for me who has a solder iron and the materials and know how to replace said battery however for someone without these tools they would have to take another 3 hour drive to get said battery replaced.

Fantastic experience: This is probably the best place to go if you’re looking for both new games and retro games. The prices are a little too high but they have a plentiful amount of stuff. They also did really well preparing my broken PS2 and the customer service is pretty good as well.
Negative experience: Okay so for context I bought Pokemon mystery dungeon for my ds but here’s the thing it totaled to around 69.60DOLLARS(this is plus tax the original price was 62.99)but when we bought it we looked the game up and the game sold at Walmart for 21DOLLARS this place is trying to steal your money so don’t bother coming but I will admit they have the nice games available but the prices are just terrible don’t buy unless your SURE only they have it(or your incredibly rich)

Also, was it just the game or did it have the case and instructions. The game with case and instructions has a much higher value than game only. I just wanted to make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Also, condition of the game is very important.
If our game was complete with game, case, and manual and in good condition and the WalMart game was game only and in poor condition then it would not be a fair comparison. Please also keep in mind that we offer a 90 warranty on every pre-owned game we sell. We also have a 7 day return policy for a full refund. So if you are not happy please return it and we will be happy to refund you.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this store! Staff are nice and helpful, even if they don't know too much about what you want, they try their best to help. The store is small, but it's still spacious and it's clean. Easy to find what you're looking for as everything is in its own category sorted by console type. Some stuff is a little pricey, but it's really only the rare hard to get stuff that's expensive, everything else is more reasonably priced, and games can go down to 10$ depending on Genre and title (mostly sports). They sell games, consoles, converters, memory cards, controllers, as well as misc things like posters and anime figures. Also as a tip, have them test the console and controllers before you leave, as my parents PS2 controllers had shorts in the wires, and my GameCube couldn't read discs. Taking it back we got free replacement of my parents controllers and my GameCube due to warranty, but it'll be better if you avoid having to take it back by asking them to test before you leave, especially if you don't live nearby

The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and they have a broad selection of both modern and retro gaming (not to mention they're the only place in Baton Rouge to do repairs. Exceptionally, at that). I always look forward to every trip here to either add to my rebuilt retro collection, or pick up any new releases that interest me. 10/10 store EDIT: Google asked me to edit this for some reason. My opinion has yet to change. Still the best game store in Baton Rouge by a mile!

Fantastic experience: I will definitely use this place again for any future problems. Brought in a PS5 that wouldn’t turn on after a suspected power surge. Was told it would be ready the next evening, but it was actually ready a few hours later. Guys seemed very knowledgeable, and took time to explain answers to my questions.

Fantastic experience: I don't ever write reviews, as a matter of fact, this may be my first ever. I consider myself a pretty avid game collector, so GameWare often meets my needs when it comes to finding high quality retro titles. Well, I went in Sunday and purchased a CIB Arc the Lad Collection on PS1. Holy grail item for me. I should've persisted the clerk at the time, I believe his name was Caleb, buffered the disks for me. As unfortunately, when I got home and got around to testing the discs, disc 1 didn't work. I began to panic a bit, as this isn't something easily replaced. Not only that, but I didn't have a receipt! If anyone actually reads these reviews, I am 100% certain I did not get a receipt. I contacted GameWare on College Dr. and luckily got a hold of Jacob. He knows I frequent the location and typically buy higher priced items, and he assured me we would get this taken care of. He came through big time, and told me Mall of LA GameWare had it and they would replace the disc for me. Jacob and Richard at College Drive GameWare always come through for me and I really appreciate their customer service and attention to taking care of problems. This cannot be stated enough. So I head to the Mall and was greeted by Olivia, who helped me through the whole process. She actually pulled a PS1 down from the shelves, hooked it up, and tested each disc before we left. Finally, everything worked as intended! She even replaced a few discs that she had that looked better than the ones I had from College. She was super nice and friendly and totally took care of my problem. Thank you to GameWare staff for resolving this issue and making purchasing retro games not just a fun, but reassuring experience, as these older items can be unreliable to say the least. I will be back, and hopefully, can get Lunar 1 CIB next time!

Positive experience: Went to this place a few months ago and the place was alright. There was a vast selection of games, consoles, and accessories. MY only problems were that the games are pretty overpriced (especially for ones I got like Sonic Generations and Unleashed). The last time I went there, the staff included swears in their speech, but became aware of it after a while. I just wish they'd do better with their customer awareness.

Fantastic experience: If you are into retro video games, then Gameware is the game store for you! They have a range of video games from NES to Wii U to PlayStation games. I purchased Paper Mario Color Splash for the Wii U, and it runs smoothly so trust me when I say they carry quality products.
Positive experience: You will be paying more than market price at least on the retro games and retro consoles. Looked at the N64 and asked if it came with anything more than the console because it was priced much higher than what the market currently has them selling. Just makes it hard to support local. Very clean and employees were very helpful. The selection is very impressive.

Fantastic experience: I came in to get two of my ps5 controllers fixed and I was kind of in a hurry to get them back, but they couldn't fix it right on the spot, so they gave me a good deal on my old ones to put towards new ones. The customer service was great as well. I highly recommend coming here if you need help with something game related.

Fantastic experience: I've been many times buying new and retro games. Recently however I had an experience which made me desire to review and share my experience. I bought a second modded vita used online and it had stick pull. I got in touch with gameware on college drive and they took the time to order and replace the stick for me. I feel like they went above and beyond to help get me gaming again and it's nice to know there are places we may be able to get repairs made on consoles and systems. Good stuff. All my interactions were very pleasant and professional. Very pleased with my experiences here. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: we got a ps4 and it ended up having some problems. Richard was so helpful he helped us get one that works well and he tested it right in front of us to make sure we didn’t have anymore problems. genuinely so helpful tysm!!

Although we do our best to make sure each and every one of these games are priced fairly, a small percentage of them may fall through the cracks. Retro game market values can fluctuate substantially over a short period of time making it a challenge to keep up with. We certainly apologize for any game that may be priced incorrectly.

Fantastic experience: Emailed about possible fixing a game boy color and no one has responded. In response to my previous review the owner did get back with me and I was able to go ib and get the system fixed. Come to find out it just needed a cleaning. The employees were very knowledgeable and kind. Even the owner came out and joined to convo.

Fantastic experience: One son suggested this store as I needed help to set parental controls on the other son’s Xbox. Jack worked on the Xbox between customers then stayed a little late researching what needed to be done. Kept the Xbox over night then resumed working on it the next day. Could not possibly have done this myself. Came back the next day and Jack had it all set up - - opening hour, closing hour, and max usage per day. Outstanding customer service with exactly the requested result. Take a bow, Jack and Gameware!
Fantastic experience: Best game store I've ever been to. Used to live in the area and even if there was a 3-4 month gap between me walking in and buying something the employees/owner always recognized me. Also very much appreciate how they carry old cartridges and merch. I'm pretty sure they're the only store within the whole city limit that does so lol.

We regret giving you incorrect information about Wii availability at our Mall of La location. I can assure you it was not intentional as our goal is always to help our customers as best as we can.
I've spoken to the manager at the College Drive store about this situation and he said the mall store told him they didn't have any available Wii consoles because they were on hold for customer's. We think what happened was when you inquired about a Wii console at the mall they had been very recently removed from being on hold due to customer's not picking them up. (Unfortunately, College Drive hadn't been notified yet.) The point of sale system at College Drive does not indicate if something is on hold at the mall.
If you ever have any other issues at either store location please let me know. I work hard to make sure my customer's have a good experience. This is extremely important to me.
