GameStop: Reviews
Negative experience: They need to work on their communication. I called phone number from the website they ask for the address and I was given an attitude saying how do you get our address? I had to tell him I got it from the Internet and I asked them what the address was and asked if they had a PlayStation 4 controller, and they said we do not.
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff, well-laid-out store, and fair prices.
Negative experience: Jess is an awful manager and GameStop corporate needs to address her demeanor and attitude with customers. I would give 0 stars if I could. I brought my PS4 in yesterday at 6:10pm to sell and Jess was there with a new employee. I won’t even say Jess was training her cause Jess was in the back room the majority of the time as the new employee sat there clueless on what to do with my PS4 that i brought into sell. Eventually the new employee waited long enough and ran to the back room to grab Jess for help and Jess came out and was super short and condescending towards her coworker in front of me and other customers on how to go thru the process when a customer brings in a console to sell. 6:40pm rolls around and they tell me sorry we’re closing soon and our WiFi is too slow to update and wipe the system - need you to come back another time since they close at 7pm. I said OK and went home. Today I bring in my PS4 to sell after updating and wiping it and Jess asks me if I wiped it and then said sorry we need you to log back in for our tests and our WiFi is too slow here so I need you to do it at home. Very confused, I told her I was just here last night when her associate told me to update and wipe it. She said sorry and I left. I quickly went home and logged in and went back for the 3rd time and this time after about 15 minutes of waiting, Jess goes “oh you don’t happen to have another controller do you?” - “I do not” I reply, “Sorry I can’t take this console with this controller” For context, the controller works fine but has slight separation on one side. Also for added context, her associate mentioned to me yesterday that the analog stick needs to be cleaned and that was it. Long story short I went back and forth 3 times to GameStop and witnessed and experienced awful customer service and attitude from Jess. It is absolutely baffling to me how Jess even wants to be in customer service. Terrible terrible experience.
Fantastic experience: The customer service I received at this location was beyond amazing. She noticed that we were struggling trying to figure out something- without being asked she hopped into action and answered the question. Even guided us to other products that we might find useful. I can't give her a direct shout-out because I'm no where near my receipt and I didn't ask her for her name.. but whoever sold us the switch 2 screen protector today- you're awesome!
Negative experience: The store clerk at the Westport location was the antithesis of friendly customer service. She was extremely short in her responses and gave off a very clear impression that I was inconveniencing her simply by being there. For an industry that is already struggling with brick and mortar locations, staff that is this rude and dismissive towards their customers does nothing to help solve that problem.
Fantastic experience: Jessica is always fair and always an amazing customer service experience. Love her
Fantastic experience: Customer service was awesome. The employee was very nice and helped me get the Switch 2.
Fantastic experience: This GameStop was very nice and clean. The employees that work here are friendly and helpful. The parking can be a bit tricky. Just read the street signs about what time you can park on the street in front of the store.
Positive experience: Some good employees and the manager is nice but also half of the employees seem to think the store closes at 7:30 and not 8….
Negative experience: I recently sold some video games and never received my Venmo transaction after selling $80 worth of product. If you need to go to GameStop just make the trip and travel further out unless you are looking to get ripped off.
Negative experience: Store lead Jessica made this the most uncomfortable shopping experience imaginable. She yelled at my sons (18 and 20) the entire time in addition to treating all of us like criminals who were only there to shoplift everything in sight. For example, there was a game behind the counter he was interested in, so he asked her to get it, and she did, but when he reached for it so he could read the back description, which is a totally reasonable thing to do, she yanked it away and shouted "YOU CANT HAVE IT UNTIL YOU'VE PAID". He was standing at the end of the counter that was furthest from the door and had already set his wallet down by the register (about 5 ft from where he was standing when he asked for the game) before even asking her to grab it. What did she think he was going to do, grab the game, and run out the door without his wallet??? She was also INCREDIBLY rude and condescending to the employee she was training. As if all of that isn't enough, the selection of games was absolutely terrible and everything was excessively over priced. I mean, they wanted $30 for a very used copy of Stray for PS4, which is a silly game where you basically wander around a city as a stray cat. This game only takes about 6-7 hours to complete and you can buy it brand new at Walmart for $20. So stupid. There is no amount of money you could pay me to ever go back into this store again.
Fantastic experience: What more could you ask for? The store physically may not be very large, but don't let the size fool you. They offer a cornucopia of products which is great when you're shopping for that hard to buy for gamer in your life. Not sure what to get? Ask the staff. It's okay they want to be there and they want you to have a good experience.
Negative experience: Jess is a horrible manager. Multiple times I have shown up at 12:10 or 12:15 and the store is not open. She is very short and rude. I came in today to get mlb the show 25 first day edition and she argued with me that she game the wrong copy (she did) and when I proved that I was right she threw the copy at me and started to yell at me to leave. Do not shop here!
Negative experience: Very unfriendly staff. My apologies for walking into the store and making you do your job! Won’t happen again!
Fantastic experience: This is the best Gamestop in the area. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: I made a mistake placing my online order but Nick was very friendly, patient, and attentive even though I had lots of questions and had to make trips back to the store. Thanks!
Negative experience: Disrespectful and rude employees
Positive experience: For it to be a small place, the service is good. But it is sad they can't get air conditioning. They have to use lots of fans.
Fantastic experience: Went today to pick up my copy of Paper Mario: TTYD and was pleasantly greeted by Nicolas. Not only did he make sure I got my game but he also recommended two games I had no idea were coming out for the Switch! Easily some of the best customer service I’ve had at this GameStop in quite some time.
Positive experience: It's fine, has less selection of toys than other locations
Negative experience: I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU PEOPLE'S GO TO GAMESTOP STORE WHEN THESES EMPLOYEES AND STAFF'S HAVE AN ANGER ISSUES TO THE CUSTOMER'S, TO ME I WOULDN'T GO THERE, I JUST ORDERED MINE ONLINE FROM WALMART AND BEST BUY AND I GOT EVERYTHING'S DELIVERED TO MY HOME AND I WAS SO HAPPY, ....
Negative experience: SCAM ALERT! (There's a reason GameStop is averaging 1.7 stars out of 5 on BBB. Check out the BBB website for yourself.) I purchased a Nintendo Switch from my local Gamestop store in December. When I was paying, I was asked if I wanted to sign up for a GameStop Pro account. I had never heard of this membership as I am not a big gamer. I was told that the membership costs $14.99 per year and that I would receive a $5 coupon every month. First of all, I got charged $25, instead of $14.99. Secondly, when I asked if I could accumulate the coupons and spend several of them on a single item I was told that I could. About a week later I found out that the coupons do not accumulate but rather expire at the end of every month. So I called Gamestop corporate several times and was told that they would refund my money within 2 to 5 business days. However, I have never received the money. After 2+ months of calling them, I was finally informed that I only had 2 days to cancel my membership and that I could only cancel it at the store. (When I had called the store, I was told that they "didn't know" how to refund my money.) I logged a complaint with the BBB but quickly noticed that almost all complaints are closed without a satisfactory result. So I finally called my credit card company and was issued a refund through them. I don't know how widespread this practice is, but it's possible that GameStop is running a scam with these Pro accounts and there might be a case for a cass action lawsuit.
Fantastic experience: My game was error
Negative experience: I literally called the store at 2:53pm. Spoke to someone. I asked if they had PS5 in stock. They said yes. I said see you soon and I was at the location at 3:30. Then if course they are closed with a sign on the door closed from 3-4. 60 minutes. Now if I call and tell them I'll be there, why wouldn't the guy I spoke to say they are closed soon. Now I'm wasting a trip there so you post on on a sale of a PS5, extra controller extra games as I was coming to buy multiple items spending $600-$900. But since they failed to tell me over the phone when I called. I will drive to Walmart or Best buy tomorrow. If you were only smart enough to tell me you were closing from 3-4 I would have waited. Since I wasted a trip then I'll buy my PS5, games and accessories Else where. Don't come to this location there are closed when you get there and the guy on the phone wasn't bright enough to tell people that call a head to prevent this. You officially lost any sale from me. I will never shop here or try and shop here again
Negative experience: Went to pick up my order. There was a customer in front of me with his elderly mom or grandma, kid wanted the xbox sale price, store clerk told them they had to by the gamestop pro plan for what ever amount. I call shenanigans on that.. show me the fine print. Because when I bought mine I wasn't forced to get one
Negative experience: BUYER BEWARE SCAM ALERT These jokers tried to tell me I had to buy a $25 GameStop membership in order to buy an Xbox. They wouldn’t sell it to me without it. NO THANK YOU SCAMMERS!!!!
Fantastic experience: The women working was alone but handled everything great she was very friendly
Negative experience: They only offered me 10 dollars for 3 pristine games, one of which they were selling on the shelf for 60 dollars. That's just not respectable.
Positive experience: GameStop has lost it's allure with limited numbers of games.
Negative experience: The manager is rude and rushes you out of the store. I wasn’t greeted upon entrance.
Fantastic experience: Very nice
Positive experience: the price is quite stable
Negative experience: Lady accidentally left the door open to the back and was randomly screaming at me and my friend that nobody's aloud back there. Very bizzare
Positive experience: Cute store and really friendly knowledgeable staff. Parking is not the best but it's worth it to stop in for whatever gaming needs you have.
Negative experience: I was just there and got tired of waiting in line for just one employees to assist and be a cashier. When I arrived there customers there when I left my items and walked out 7 customers all but 1 were in line waiting while employee kept trying to get a game system to read the drive in it even after trying customer it wouldn't read the drive.
Fantastic experience: I love this GameStop. Always friendly and helpful. Be aware that their actual hours are not the hours listed on Google.
Negative experience: Never sell anything to GameStop you get a better deal at a pawn shop.
Positive experience: Great with the kids.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding customer service and fun activities with midnight releases!
Fantastic experience: Store location is shady but quality of items inside of the store is 10/10. The kind gentleman who worked today had the best customer service I could have asked for in traveling an hour away to purchase a console. Thank you so much for making my trip worth it!
Fantastic experience: A little small but jam packed with the games, accessories and action figures gamers want.
Fantastic experience: I don’t normally post but.. Best location yet! I’ve been a regular for years at GameStop and this location and the staff are absolutely amazing!! The managers (Both guys and the girl, I’m sorry can’t remember names) are very helpful and friendly with all problems and trying to help find solutions or if they don’t have the things I’m looking for, helpful for directing me to where I need to go. The store is neat clean and organized. They just need a better parking lot and a wheelchair excess-able entrance. *Hint hint* Deff go here!!
Negative experience: Went here to sell an old Xbox one that I didn’t need any longer, the customer service rep that serviced us was very rude and un helpful. We had to return two separate times because she failed to explain the process properly. All of that can be excused when I left she refused to hand me the products owner the money for the sale but would hand it to my white partner who was with me. If you go here when Jessica is on shift be prepared to be treated like a second class citizen.
Negative experience: Couldn't even get in the store.. I showed up 2 minutes earlier and noticed they didn't open till 11 which is fine. Drove around and came back. It was 11:05, door was still locked. Saw lady at the register and she just went back to doing whatever she was doing. I couldn't imagine a failing company not wanting to serve all the customers they can get now.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Not helpful at all.
Negative experience: The employees were kinda mean. Were nice enough to help us find the one thing we came for though.
Positive experience: Did what I needed to which was to preorder NBA2K23 and got a new GameStop subscription... Maybe I'll get active again...
Negative experience: I went in to trade some games and stuff the they wouldn't take any of what I had. I went to vintage stock they offered me $20.
Positive experience: Always helpful guys and gals willing to help you find what you're looking for or suggest titles based off of what you like.
Positive experience: This location needs more game selections
Fantastic experience: My husband and I came in a couple of weeks ago, and this is such a clean and organized store! The employees were cheerful and kind, the deals they had were great, and it was overall a wonderful experience!!! :) The manager on duty was extremely kind as well. I wish I could remember her name! But she was great and deserves some recognition for being a top-tier employee.
Fantastic experience: Awesome amazing experience
Fantastic experience: Great store. Have a lot of good games.
Fantastic experience: I love this place.
Positive experience: Good store, nice workers
Fantastic experience: One of the top three locations in the Metro, always find what I need and employees always very helpful
Fantastic experience: Evening staff is great. The store is nice and clean and stocked. Will be back! :D
Fantastic experience: A grand place to shop, the staff is helpful and very eager to make me happy.
Positive experience: Employee was friendly and helpful
Negative experience: Horrible customer service. I called the store to ask if they had any anime tshirts. The salesman stated they had them & in the size I needed but when I get to the store….They do not have any at all. Why lie? Wasted my gas & energy.
Fantastic experience: This place got the ps5 I just got mine they selling it as 900$ bundle nice ppl working there well recommend
Negative experience: Worst customer service
Fantastic experience: Was here today and had a fantastic experience. I was having an issue with something I bought through GameStop online and they helped me big time and were very professional. As always, this is a great GameStop!
Fantastic experience: I go with my son to go get gift cards an anime toys so it's great they just need they own parking lot and make it bigger
Negative experience: This one female worker was the reason for this rating. She provided terrible customer service, she was rushing everything and she was down right unkind. Everything else was ok
Negative experience: Horrible place to shop for games. I waited in line for 2 hours for the new xbox xbox I was the 10th person in line it opened up at 6 o'clock and they only had 3.. They could have told us when we were waiting in line
Fantastic experience: Always helpful and patient.
Fantastic experience: Very nice guy, helped us with all our stuff and was a blast to talk too.
Positive experience: Hard to enter but friendly staff and nice stock.
Negative experience: Favorite location. Sometimes management has an attitude. (new details on management below) Edit: I love GameStop but I hate receiving unwarranted attitude & bad customer service, especially when spending $500+. I have worked in retail and/or customer service for about 20+ years, so I understand that when dealing with difficult or frustrating customer situations it can carryover to the next transaction/situation. But the employee Jessica, no matter how nice or calm you present a situation/question to her this lady always responds with COMPLETE attitude. I usually don't make reviews like this, but after being a regular customer at this particular location for 8 years, something has to be said. She needs to work on her customer service skills or find another job. I simply called in to ask about returning a pre-owned item that was within the 7 day full return window and the whole convo was her telling me my issue was unheard of, interrupting me & trying to hand me off to the manufacturers support, & then proceeded to have an attitude about returning my device because she didn't have enough cash on-hand. I didn't return the negative energy to her, I was polite & calm, and ended the call. Needless to say, to avoid further conflict I ended up getting assistance from another store location.
Negative experience: Bought need for speed heat and the deluxe upgrade for it(so I thought) come to find out she gave me a deluxe upgrade for need for speed payback and not need for speed heat. Wasn’t able to get a refund since I already claimed it.
Fantastic experience: Always have what I'm looking for
Negative experience: They went on lunch break as I came in and they locked the door
Fantastic experience: It was a little shop near downtown KC but it was clean, nice and had same selections as larger gamestops
Fantastic experience: The service was very fast, friendly and informative big and the store had lots to choose from as always another great experience at Gamestop
Fantastic experience: Haven't been to GameSpot in a while, still a good place to get accessories and games. Staff was very helpful and friendly with good advice.
Fantastic experience: Nice location and selection
Negative experience: Poor customer service.
Fantastic experience: Out of all my experiences in various GameStop locations, this experience was by far the most pleasant I've ever had. The young lady who helped me was absolutely amazing and Its honestly hard to believe I got the service I did, I've never had that before. I think her name was Jessica and she was at the west port store on westport rd in Wichita, KS 64111. Out of anyone who has ever helped me at any GameStop store she made me feel like I was family. Also, she is one hell of a sales person. I hope this reaches someone important because you have a gold mine on your hands with Jessica, she is AMAZING.
Fantastic experience: Went to go pick up my pre-order today for CyberPunk 2077, soon as I walked in Jessica greeted me and was really nice, helpful and patient! Great customer service overall. Definitely doing my purchases here for now.
Positive experience: Good store, not a lot of Switch lite accessories yet I guess. Staff was helpful and my visit was fairly quick.
Fantastic experience: Amazing customer service!
Fantastic experience: great place in Westport , my favorite GameStop do far, the young man there was awesome and knowledgeable , loves fortnite just like my kid and he went above and beyond to help him and was so friendly
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and courteous.
Positive experience: Good service, expensive controller's, even used ones. Walmart is ur best bet there. But i love GameStop no less. Great franchise, great store.
Fantastic experience: Every time I go there, it's fast Quick Service. I never have no trouble at all. Thanks GameStop!!
Fantastic experience: The guys were extremely helpful , good price on games! We will come back.
Fantastic experience: When my two sons were growing up this is the location we frequented the most. The customer service was always exceptional and the store was always well stocked. It has been at least thirteen years since we have patronized the Westport Stop! It was a relief to discover they still hire knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff. The employee who assisted us advised me on age appropriate games, unique accessories required to play specific games, and the excellent 12-month warranty that I did purchase for my five year old grandson's games. For those who are wondering about the cleanliness of the store mid-COVID, the store was sanitized and organized! Customers and staff are required to wear masks. Games and other items have been properly sanitized and labeled. The store smelled great which is important to me.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Hidden gem in Westport. This GameStop is always my go to GameStop if I need to find something that is sold out at most other places.
Fantastic experience: Super friendly! Good knowledge of their inventory and product. Most importantly felt safe inside.
Positive experience: It's funny how expensive things are when you buy from them. Selling things is a whole other story...
Negative experience: They talked to me to much
Positive experience: Knowledgeable staff and fair prices. They know their stuff and are quite friendly.
Fantastic experience: One of the better locations in recent years. The staff here are all heavy gamers, eager to share wisdom, to direct your questions towards unexpected and perfectly curated suggestions. Good people. Always find what I’m looking for and a strong collection of Pokémon.
Negative experience: I bought and paid off Madden and the release day they said I already picked it up. I said no. turns out one of the staff members gave it away to someone else without checking for ID. they never gave me my money back. gave me a 1-800 number that I called 5 times. they said they had records of me calling and sent it to Regional managers. after 3 months of calling the store and the number....I still never recieved a refund. Lesson learned . dont pay off a game. Lesson 2... don't shop there anymore.
Positive experience: Thank you for your help with the game.
Positive experience: Solid location and staff
Fantastic experience: My experience was really good, I got some Christmas shopping in and I left with a smile because of how kind the staff was. I got a used game for half the original price and they gave me a free Christmas present out of the misc. pile in the backroom. 10/10 would recommend this place for shopping and selling.
Negative experience: Very small store with mostly t-shirts and toys, not as much of a focus on games. Every time someone walks too close to the door a recorded message plays about how you're on camera so you better not shoplift. Also, for some reason they were selling wired Xbox 360 controllers used for $20 and new for $17.
