Fantastic experience: Came up from Norfolk for the day to do some video game shopping. Great place to find games from Atari all the way up to the PS5. They even have other tech related items like iPads and Apple Watches to buy as well. Staff was friendly and approachable. Would definitely go back again.

Negative experience: I've always felt an unwelcoming atmosphere when coming into this store. Tried to trade something in and was told they wouldn't take it because it wasn't being sold by anyone else so he couldn't compare prices on any other website (which was a lie). He kept my HDMI cord(thief). I believe I was racially profiled. He could've came up with his own price for reselling the item. I will not be coming back to this store ever again and will be unfollowing on all social media platforms. Do not go to this store to sell or buy. Their customer service isn't good AT ALL.

Fantastic experience: I just had the best experience here. My 10 year old nephew asked for a game boy color for Christmas. I asked around and a friend told me to go here. (Shout out Brian store owner *kind of* of AlterNatives in Carytown. Check them out for all your jewelry needs). Zach was so kind and knowledgeable. He answered all my annoying questions, laughed at my cringe jokes, and gave me an honest review of the games I wanted to purchase along with the game boy. Everything was fairly priced and in good condition.

Fantastic experience: Visited on a Saturday while on a mini road trip. Relatively small retro gamr store but didn't feel small - the space was put to good use. Staff was very kind and relatable, and willing to let me check out any game conditions myself. Games are well organized and showcased. I'll definitely stop by again whenever I'm in the area! Got my mint copy of Dark Wizard on the sega cd from them!

My wife and I found Wind Waker and Sonic Adventure 2 for like 5-10 bucks cheaper than it was listed on price charting. Way to keep the prices as fair as you can guys! Fantastic experience: Amazing amazing deals here. I got this 34 inch oled g8 monitor for 200 after bringing in a monitor of mine I wanted to trade in! They turned it on and tested it for me and had a pleasant conversation. Best of all, they support the right side of history!! As a Palestinian this means alot to me personally. I will definitely be going back to pick up a bunch of other amazing deals they have.

Fantastic experience: I dont play games much, just stopped by there for an HDMI cable. They had killer instict on the super NES to play. And they buy/sell retro games, which is pretty much all I know about, so 5 stars from me.

Negative experience: Decently priced games for purchase and a good selection. However these guys have some of the worst trade-in offers in town, to the point where it feels straight up disrespectful. I went in yesterday with a stack of 16 PS3 and Xbox One games all in great condition and was asked how much I wanted for them by the guy at the counter, which already felt like unnecessary pressure. I told him around $30 was what I was looking for, meaning I’m essentially asking for $2 per game from them. Guy said okay that sounds about right but let me go through them. Dude ended up offering me $7 cash or $12 store credit, straight-faced, and said the games I was trading in were very common for them. I had not seen most of the games I had brought with me to trade on the shelves at all, and I knew the value of several of them having looked them up before leaving. It felt disingenuous. I said no thank you and drove over to Dawn Star Video Games in Scott’s Addition and they offered me $60 cash for the same games. I’ve kind of always felt an unfriendly, unwelcoming atmosphere from this store and I really don’t know why but save to say that’s the last time I’ll be going here for a while.

Negative experience: The prices are outrageous! We get every store has to make a profit but rip offs shouldn’t happen with buy/trade stores! I tried selling a mint condition PlayStation 2 game system with everything included (2 memory cards) and over 30 games with more including ps1 games! A brand new Atari flashback as well! These guys offered me 50 bucks…. Either they don’t have knowledge vintage/retro items or they just try to rip you off! I found it quite disrespectful to even say that number when you have 40 games that come with the system! A brand new retro system! And everything worked properly! I work in sales and they have poor negotiating skills! Won’t ever come back to trade or buy anything because I can get a better deal at GameStop who’s going out of business! For any customers in there future wouldn’t recommend selling anything you’d be better off on marketplace/ebay or offer up! If I could give zero stars I would!

Positive experience: Tech exchange is selling Pokemon cards that are so fake, I'm not even going to waste anyone's time saying why. The person packing these five dollar bundles either doesn't know anything about Pokémon or is negligently selling fake cards knowingly. They also sell bootleg Pokémon keychains. granted they sell them for a pretty cheap price and never said it was official, so I wouldn't say it's a scam or anything, but they are bootleg and unofficial. Lastly, and this is getting more and more subjective, but a lot of their stickers are stolen art. I've bought the stickers too without really thinking, but the more you think about it, it does kind of suck. Generally their video game prices are fair, it's not a malicious markup, it's just normal for a brick and mortar store. The trade in prices are fine, they're trying to give you money no matter what so they're really saying "if we had to buy this from you this is all we could do based on the market and our likelihood to sell, our inventory of it etc" Yeah we know how much you paid for that console, nobody's denying that dude but we already have like 10 of those It's also not really the employees fault. They're all really nice, I used to go to the store a lot freshman year and I would overhear a lot of people getting mad as they were trading and stuff. It was very entitled and sounded stressful and unfair toward the employees. people didn't seem to understand the market. As someone who works at a GameStop that is a high risk store and mainly gets trade-ins, I understand what it's like to get people in who really want money and get frustrated and angry at you for something you can't control. Overall, it's a fun experience and if anything, I just found it funny because of how stupidly obviously fake the cards were. I just make fun of this place with my friend. These are five dollar items so nobody's gonna go into debt over it. however, it would be nice if we could get that five dollars back and maybe get some real cards because they specifically guaranteed those full art/rares or whatever, and they were fake. I did also have an experience once while I lost my expensive voucher and the employee took my word and wrote me a new one. So.... it's never black or white when it comes to a store. I think you'll be fine to buy video games from here and trade and stuff you don't need. I promise you that these employees are trying their very best and are often so busy that something like two Pokémon cards is easy to slip through With that being said, I do think it's important to not mislead your customers, and self fake things, even if it helps a small business. doesn't matter if you were a mega corporation or a friend of mine who needed to pay their rent, I wouldn't appreciate being lied to. I'd rather just pay $5 extra for a video game.

Fantastic experience: My first time visiting the Richmond location. I was very surprised they had a selection of Skylanders (almost exclusively Spyros Adventure and or Giants) and Disney Infinity figures, and portals. It was very limited but still nice to see a spot for them in the secondary market. Great spot for the business to be in and very cozy as a downtown store should be. I’d go back when I visited Richmond again. No purchases made on this trip.

Positive experience: I will start off by saying at its core, great vision and value for second-hand games and electronics. Any purchase related to games/gaming accessories have been stellar, and every time I go in to sell my old electronics I feel I get a very fair price. The staff are super kind and when it came to game questions, very helpful. HOWEVER, I am a bit disappointed in the care of their other electronic items. I had purchased a laptop from this shop about 6 months ago. At first, the laptop performed perfectly and had no issues. As time went on the laptop battery got worse and worse, it would die right away when unplugged. After taking the laptop into a repair shop, I was told that the provided charger was NOT the correct one and that due to its output into my device, it was killing the battery. Had to replace the battery and buy a new charger. Bit of a bummer for trying to give devices an extended life. Hopefully this is not a common practice for their other electronics. Still happy to come back for gaming needs but am now hesitant for their other electronics.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome. It's very similar to GameStop but better! They are way cheaper and have a way better variety of vintage game systems that are difficult to find these days. They have a lot of games for all kinds of systems and they even buy electronics you no longer want or need they will give you the option of getting store credit (which is a lot more) or getting cash for the electronics you sell to them. They are extremely fair with their prices and I love doing business with them. I'll definitely be visiting them again real soon!!

Fantastic experience: Great store with character! This is the best video game store in that area, better than the stores that specialize in only video games. I travel all over several states collecting video game stuff. In this area, I’d say places within a half hour to an hour of here, this is the best I’ve found. I’ve found better, far away and out of state, but not with in this area. It’s worth visiting. They have a lot of good quality stuff in good condition and decent prices. And they have stuff unique to here too, like video game art, homebrews, and stuff.

Fantastic experience: This was my second visit to this store and I stopped by at the bits + pixels before this but was TOLD AS SOON I STEPPED INSIDE to put a mask they provided and sanitized my hand like what. I've been vaccinated because I "HATE MASKS" and she could of atleast asked if I had already received my vaccine, instead of just telling me to take one of their masks. After remembering this STORE I Drove here and picked up my CHILDHOOD memory games FIFA 07. I was soooo happy. I'm not complaining but find it great of the owner that they let their employees choose to wear a mask or not. It made me appreciate it more knowing that some of the employees were not wearing one. I will definitely be back in the future to support this local business!!!

Went everywhere looking for a power brick for a day one xbox one, gamestop was going to sell me a gamestop brand one with ZERO reviews online for 50$?! I leave the gamestop and remember that hole in the wall game store i used to frequent back in early 2014-15, called them and they told me they had exactly what I was looking for for 35$! Brought it home and its basically brand new and works beautifully. You guys are my champions today because my day one xbox continues to be my only source of media, without it I'd literally have nothing to do but stare at my wall while I'm home. Today I exchanged my old PS4 with a broken disc drive ($75) and 2 broken controllers ($5 each) for a used PS4 Slim ($249). Derek messaged with me on Facebook on a Tuesday when they were closed and let me know about pricing and when they were going to have a PS4 available, and I really appreciated his opinion on whether I should get a PS4 vs PS4 Pro. Because I was honest about the condition of my system, I was able to get a good deal. I will definitely be coming back to get some games and maybe other systems in the future! I watch their instagram stories and feed for good deals and new stock. Finding free parking was a little difficult on a weekday morning but I found a spot over the bridge and walked outside on a nice day so I consider that a bonus. They wear their masks and ask customers to do the same and they are adhering to social distancing protocols by making sure they don't have too many people inside at one time. Last but not least, they are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: This place is a video game collector's happy place. They sell high quality products for very reasonable prices! Their return policy is fantastic as well. I have got many great games CIB, such as Ginal Fantasy (NES) in original wrapping, Commodore VIC-20, and Dragon Warrior IV in original wrapping. The staff make you feel like family here!
