Experiencia negativa: I had a pretty frustrating experience at GameTime Hobby Shop. I came in to trade some Pokémon cards for store credit so I could pick up an F1 Topps hobby box. When I first walked in, the box was clearly marked at $359.99. I went to the counter, and to be fair, the employee was helpful and gave me a reasonable offer of $365 in store credit, which I agreed to. No issues there. But when we walked over to grab the hobby box, the price had suddenly jumped to $510.99. That’s a huge difference, and it happened while I was literally in the store. When I pointed it out, I was told they were “updating prices” and that they could only honor the original price if I had taken a picture of it. That’s not how you run a business. Changing prices during store hours—especially while a customer is actively making a purchase—is unprofessional and unfair. Expecting customers to take pictures of price tags just in case they change minutes later is ridiculous. I understand prices fluctuate, especially in collectibles, but updates like that should be handled before opening or after closing—not in the middle of a transaction. This experience left a bad impression, and I’d be cautious about doing business here again.

I was so excited to see a brand new unopened copy of this game that i remember asking my parents for multiple copies because of how many times i played this growing up. Been a absolute blast, and i will eventually come back to see if i can find any older gems from my childhood. :)

Experiencia fantástica: This place is awesome, just like the staff! They have a plethora of video game consoles, games and accessories. They also cary a lot of collectable cards, sealed and singles. Great place to come if you enjoy video games or collectable cards!

Experiencia positiva: I think these guys recently opened a couple cases of op14 and put there hits for sale and left dead boxes for the public to buy. Just in case you’re planing on buying sealed OP14 from them.

Experiencia fantástica: James does a phenomenal job i have gone here for games and also sold some ps3 games and they give good pay for buying back games compared to other stores. Unfortunately they are fully stocked on ps3 and other consoles right now but they have offered me good prices for consoles in the past.

Experiencia fantástica: Went in Christmas night because it was the only card shop open for Christmas, and I have to say the store was amazing. Lots of graded and raw cards and so much sealed product for very reasonable prices. Didn't get the guys name but he was incredibly kind and gave amazing customer service. He was definetly the reason I will keep coming back here!

Experiencia negativa: Beware of the Tall worker who wears a blue shirt. He tries to lowball so hard that youre basically getting scammed out of your cards (55 percent and below of the LAST SOLD price). The only reason I don’t give this place 1 star is because the other workers are not only nice but they meet you at around 70-80 percent when buying cards (which is the company’s moto from all the reviews ive seen plus my own person experiences selling here). That guy will lose you a lot of good customers & he has little to no knowledge on Pokemon cards or Sports cards but still tries to lowball you because of what he sees on the computer screen.

Experiencia negativa: Game Time does not open on time. My son and I wanted to buy Nintendo switch games and check the store. We went on October 11, 2025 and October 18, 2025 around 11:15 AM and the store was closed both times, even when it's supposed to open at 11 AM. The second time we just walked to Target and bought our games there (we were trying to support a small business first). Game Time should update its published business hours or open on time!

Experiencia negativa: Use to love this place when it first opened I was a frequent guest buying Pokémon and retro gaming consoles always treated with respect . Today i did not have a great experience trying to sell a Pokémon card with the female employee did not get her name unfortunately. I was trying to sell a card that I’ve had reviewed by other staff and other stores they all said it was in near mint condition. But today the employee decided in her view it was not and wanted low ball me for the card saying it was a lightly played card and the card had a lot of whitening the funny part is I was quoted a price from other employees but I guess she is more of an expert. She had a rude tone to her voice when I was not willing to sell the card for way below market. The card would be a loss regardless for me but I wanted to sell the card at this location since it was one of my favorite shops. Will not be stoping by here anymore due to her attitude towards me.the funny part is a bought this card here prior at full price of near mint condition. So she wanted to just lowball me to flip it for more.

Experiencia negativa: They have a good selection but I think their quality control is lacking. I bought a Pokémon yellow full price and it has a broken trace somewhere. This clearly wasn't quality tested or if it was they sold a defective cartridge at functioning cartridge price.

Experiencia negativa: Went in to ask about selling games, was told that they would offer me 75% of the value. Came back later, the person I originally talked to was not there. Brought in a few games to check for prices, was offered 30% for the highest price item I brought in, and roughly under 50% for the other items. I questioned the price, turns out they use pricecharting.com for their prices. Turns out that they: 1. Weren't looking at the correct version of the items (new vs. CIB vs. loose, while all my items were either CIB or New) 2. Didn't add up all of the games I brought in Was told their machine must be glitching (they admitted they use pricecharting.com for prices...what does your computer glitching have to do with a website) so they took me to the other computer to try again. Was then offered a total of 50% of the value I brought in for credit. I understand how businesses work with buying low and selling high, but when you tell customers you offer 75% of the value and then offer only 50% in CREDIT (meaning offering even less in cash), don't correctly add up all of the items I brought in (4 items), blame the bad prices on a computer not updating the recent prices (while using a website), your business just looks a little bit shady. The good thing about this store is that if you're looking to BUY items from here, the prices are pretty on par with collector's value. You won't find good deals, but you won't really overpay for items. The store is clean and decent otherwise, though the random gaming accessories/toys are right in front of the cashwrap which makes it a bit crowded if they're helping multiple people at the same time.

The people are great and the store and everyone working there are all filled with Nostalgic energy. They always seems to have what other stores are missing, at least for what I look for and that’s not just the stock but the workers are just people I wish to bring home n play some games with! Experiencia negativa: Promotes scalpers by buying through them to stock their inventory. If you’ve been wondering why you can’t find the new pokemon sets in retail stores or vending machines, it’s because this store hordes them and then jack up the price.

Experiencia negativa: This card shop regularly does business with scalpers who clear out the local pokemon vending machines. I overheard a conversation between the store owners & scalper who promised that he’d continued to clear out the vending machines to keep selling to GameTime. Supporting this business enables a larger issue of resellers hoarding product and upselling at a huge profit margin - taking advantage of kids, families, and collectors who are unable to find product at stores & vending machines. Prices are ridiculous here: Paldean Fates ETB for $160 when MSRP is $55… and 151 Booster Bundles for $80 when MSRP is $28.

Experiencia negativa: This shop supports scalpers, pays scalpers to go clear out Pokemon Center vending machines of all their stock, and sells product at a crazy up charge. I understand that demand for pokemon tcg products are very high, but shops should have access to dealers and distributors, and shouldn't have to stoop low to support scumbags who clear out vending machines just to sell at a profit. I saw them do business with a scalper who was very arrogant, proud to say that he had cleared out several machines and had lots of extra stock for them to buy and sell at an up charge to customers. The store feels like it's trying to be an apple store, there are no tables to settle in or even play cards, i don't think they even host any sort of events for the community like trade nights, it really does seem like their sole purpose is to move product and make profit. They have zero integrity business practices, i saw them lowball customers trying to get their cards comped for sale, and they are what's wrong with the card collecting community. The whole experience in the store left a bad taste in my mouth. The only redeeming factor is their fem employee, who was very nice and complimented my girlfriend on her hair claw clip, was very helpful and made sure we knew she was ready to help us with whatever we may need.

Experiencia negativa: Shady and greedy practices by this shop. Witnessed this place purchasing products that were scalped from local stores, only to resell them at even more inflated prices. It’s disappointing to see a business engage in price-gouging, clear local stock, and take advantage of customers. I highly recommend supporting businesses with fair practices instead.

Experiencia fantástica: GameTime is a solid addition to the Bay Area retro game and TCG scene. Apparently they started as a card shop off the Great Mall. The game selection is pretty solid with a good share of hot titles in amazing condition, though I didn't see any holy grails the last couple times I went. Lots of solid Pokemon and OP cards, graded and ungraded. They have a wicked console selection in the back, most of which looks to be in good condition. The staff are nice and always chatting about either cards or games. Prices are pretty good, beating market prices on a lot of their inventory. When I heard they were a sister shop of Retro Rewind, I was worried they'd be priced higher. Really happy to see this store here and hope to see their inventory grow!
