GameStop: Reviews
Negative experience: Probably the worst experience shopping, usually go to this location to buy games. But today I went in to see if they had pokemon booster packs. It was really cool to find out that they now have a section for pokemon cards and other sets. My lady is HUGE on collecting pokemon cards, and I wanted to make sure she didnt already have some of the sets they sold here. Mind you there’s ABSOLUTELY no signs anywhere that prohibit taking pictures or video of anything. So I was able to send her one picture of a box and when I tried to send her a picture of another box that I wanted to purchase. I started hearing someone shouting at me from the counter “HEY SIR! No pictures!, No pictures!” . . . Frankly I wanted to point out the fact that there aren’t any signs anywhere and I was already set on buying 1 box (which I did). But frankly I wanted to simply walk out, there’s no need to shout at your customers for wanting to take a picture of a pokemon box. . . You got an issue, walk over to your client and explain the situation or better yet PUT A SIGN like any normal business would. . . Not shopping here again, it is no wonder game stop is closing stores
Negative experience: I went to buy a game that was 20$ and a cool Godzilla figurine that was 5$ and I would've expected to pay like 27$ in Total but it was 32$ because they made me pay a warranty I didn't ask for or they didn't mention? I was confused until I looked at the receipt, and they always act bummed out for no reason, just don't go here ever.
Negative experience: We arrived at 7:02 in Google says it close at 8:00 and they said it was close and it was a asian looking lady that screamed so loud at us right at the entrance of the door. Very rude, they closed an hour early, lazy
Negative experience: I came into this GameStop to trade in a device and was told I had to arrive before 7 PM — no problem. However, when I got there, I was informed of a store-specific rule not a company policy, (I personally fact checked this) that trade-ins must be charged to at least 50%. My phone was at 25%, so I sat in my car for a while to charge it up just to meet their requirement. When I finally came back inside, Destiny went through the entire trade-in process and even marked that my phone was in pristine condition. Then, out of nowhere, she changed her mind and tried to label it as “cracked” — which it absolutely was not. It only had a minor surface scratch. I had to call her out before she corrected it, which is unacceptable. If she was going to be that strict about the battery percentage, the least she could have done was show the same level of honesty and accuracy when evaluating the device. Forcing a customer to wait just to turn around and mislabel their phone feels shady and unprofessional. GameStop should really re-evaluate how some employees handle trade-ins, because this experience was frustrating, inconsistent, and not how customers deserve to be treated.
Negative experience: I walked in this gamestop today to buy gta5 a 12 year old game and they need to see my id to buy it like for what? this has never happened to me!!! I've bought it online and at other GameStop's and never had to show my id. This is insane and very ridiculous I just bought it online and never had to show an id. You guys should let people know that you have to have an id to purchase games. I'm 55 years old and I don't feel comfortable showing my id for a game.. that I know I could buy online with no pressure lucky I didn't buy the controlers I was there to spend 200 bucks on 2 new PS5 controlers and the game cuz you know you can play PS4 games for free on the ps5..I will never ever be going back to that gamestop.....
Negative experience: I went in just to get an estimate on my PS4 trade-in and was treated terribly. The console is clean, works perfectly, and makes no noise, but because of a tiny cosmetic crack near the power button, they flat-out refused to even give me a quote. The employee was dismissive and unhelpful, acting like I was wasting their time. I understand they have policies, but the way it was handled was rude and unprofessional. If this is how they treat customers just looking for information, I won’t be coming back. Save yourself the hassle and try selling elsewhere you’ll get more money and much better treatment.
Positive experience: Can only buy one pokemon booster pack per customer
Negative experience: They never pick up. I’ve called never pick up.
Fantastic experience: Good GameStop, just wish they’d answer the damn phone lol I know that many people ain’t there.
Negative experience: Just bought a$25 E-card for Roblox for my son. I realized after I left the store that the validation code was hard to read. I returned to the store and asked for the receipt to be reprinted but the employee said she couldn't. That I should contact Roblox for the issue. When it was their store's receipt printer that malfunctioned. This place was empty, I know why...
Positive experience: Its gamestop. Staff with attitude unless you play with they are into then they are best friends. Found what I was looking for on a shelf in a back of the store with dust on it when the staff member was too busy to help. Meh. They get some limited release stuff I need so I go, but I do not expect much from the staff.
Negative experience: This place it's just completely pathetic like the one on 20th East in Lancaster. Lack of customer service and no communication at all. Hire better people who are willing to treat people fairly.
Negative experience: Rarely ever answer the phone, and they seemed annoyed when they actually answer
Negative experience: Used to be a good store until the that Caitlyn girl got big headed and started to hoard all the pokemon for her friends and employees.
Negative experience: Fire that manager, she would rather lose sales because of her personal feelings. Stock checker says 23 but they put 19 on paper. Employees definitely catching first dibs. But it's alright.
Negative experience: I was a frequent shopper there, but a rude woman employee was very rude and pushy if you don't get a membership. On my recent trip to get a game, she flat out told us that she won't sell to us anymore unless we get a membership and ignored us to help other customers. I just feel like they should have some sort of policy stated somewhere that you NEED to be a member to purchase anything in the store if you're a frequent shopper there.
Negative experience: I don't like the fact they announce false advertising on orders especially when I order something and ten minutes after they return the order for me to wait a week for my money back I advise to walk in before you buy from this store online
Fantastic experience: They're so kind and they're cool. I bought a pokémon all stuff and some pokémon cards and the manager was so nice
Fantastic experience: Good place to buy games
Negative experience: Manager lady has a attitude.Asked me do I want to return my ítem before I walk out, cause I ask a question about the return policy after the sales person told me about the policy, guess I cant have a question.SMH...Won't be coming back to this store ever.
Negative experience: Never open at the times they say they are and are always clueless . Asked specific questions about a warranty and then when it came time to use that warranty I couldn’t even tho i specifically asked them if it would cover the damage . They will lie to you just to get an extra sale and are very rude . The owner of this location needs to find new employees who know at least basic game knowledge. And the manager is most rude person there . I’ve been to this location plenty of times and it’s been closed during store hours AT LEAST 10 times . The owner is losing good business and valued customers because of these low level employees who think they can do whatever they want .
Fantastic experience: Caitlin is really awesome, went in looking for some Marvel Legends and she went to the back to grab the last one they had
Negative experience: Terrible customer service. They up sold the warranty and will not honor it. Do not shop here.
Fantastic experience: Awesome team member quite knowledgeable
Fantastic experience: Offered alternative measures on purchasing and Offered a discount
Negative experience: I've been going here for years New Staff New Problems Not what it used to be.New employees been there a year an couldn't figure out how to add money to a PayPal account An refused to tell me who the manager was or anything at all So I contacted corporate an they should be shut down within 3 months I was told. Will never return to this one,
Fantastic experience: I love the selection for my original Xbox
Negative experience: Google says open at 11…40 minutes later place still has shutters closed.
Negative experience: This was horrible My son bought 2 games and got one free which is madden 21 but that same day the game was not working so I returned it the next day and they gave me madden 23 but that didn't work either s I he wants to return it and get a different game tomorrow
Positive experience: Great customer service
Fantastic experience: I had an online problem where my cyber monday purchases, were confirmed for purchased than cancel due to system error. Corporate couldn't do much for me which is a failure on their behalf. But the manager at this location opted to honor the prices next day in store. I was able to pick up my games at the price advertised. Thanks again.
Positive experience: Very helpful service
Negative experience: I have purchased an Xbox controller & and battery charging pack. The charging pack was only for the Xbox One & X series, which turns out the controller they gave me was not that exact model. I showed them the issue, and they won’t want to help me. I questioned their knowledge of such, which they rudely stated they know because they work on the location. I only asked since they also stated earlier that they didn’t know what I was talking about. I understand I pay for these items with my money, but I also understand that the worker who helped me didn’t know, yet they knew it did? Where’s the logic in that? It took me a minute to know this, yet they didn’t know what the issue was. I asked if I can get swapped or exchanged for the exact remote controller that the battery charging kit calls for. And you know what they said. “Sorry, I can only give you the exact same controller.” Even though they claimed it was the recommended one, it was not. I also know it because I already had a blue Xbox One remote from Walmart that does work with the charging kit. And still, these GameStop employees know what they are doing. I find it funny that GameStop has these low standards employees. So if this does reach to them or at least the manager in charge, you got to teach these employees how to actually be helpful and not stubborn headed.
Negative experience: This store closes at random time during the week with no notes. Very inconvenient
Negative experience: Two out of three times I've stopped by when they're supposed to be open and they've been closed. Including times when I've preordered games.
Fantastic experience: 2 young employee girls were very helpful to me and my 9yr old son who wanted his Nintendo Switch fixed but they were kind enough to look for a different place for us since gamestop no longer does repairs. They had many discounts and my son walked out with a huge smile with 4 different toys, 1 was free with their promotional offer. We signed up for their subscription for the monthly coupons in addition to their already discounted prices.
Fantastic experience: This is by far the best Gamestop in the antelope Valley. The staff is so helpful, they always suggest something that I will be interested in. Always taking the time to look up items or research something I have seen in a different store. They engage in conversation as if they are family. This gamestop ROCKS!!!
Positive experience: Good Gamestop, super convenient location in this plaza or having hanging out at the coffee shop
Negative experience: Close an hour earlier than previously posted
Fantastic experience: I love the games and the customer service is great
Negative experience: Highly DO NOT recommend this store. Manager Sarah offered zero customer service. Poor customer service skills and no attempt to help with the situation where I needed to put an unopened gift back onto a gift card. The employee who sold me the gift card LIED as well. I was told purchases on the gift card would not show when checking the balance on the website. The purchase history DOES show online. I would not have even bought the gift card if they wouldn't have lied to me. At least I didn't end up spending the $150+ that I was planning on spending there. I will take my business somewhere besides GameStop from now on.
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff always helpful and good selection and variety of stuff and if they don't have it they hunt it down 4 u at other stores
Negative experience: Tell friday night funken TO BACK OFF OF SONIC SIMULATOR bc friday night funken isn’t NEARLY AD COOL like sonic simulator MADE friday night funken and then they have the Audacity to sue then i will give all u low paying employees a bad review i hope u all fall down a cliff and don’t sue don’t don’t please.
Positive experience: Great store, great service . The employees here were so helpful, and this location is set up really nice. They also have a PC system area as we'll.
Negative experience: I preorder the new Pokémon game and went to pick it up at "midnight" release. When I arrived I was informed that I had have had arrived by 830 to have finalized my order, even though I paid in full when I preordered?!. The staff stated that I should have been notified but that did not happen; so I had to come back the next day. When I arrived I realized I forgot my receipt by I did order the game on my partner's account. When I ordered the game I was told by the associate that they put a note on my preorder to notify whoever is there that I'm allowed to pick it up, this did not happen and I had to jump through some hoops to get my game. [Side note] When I was there and gave the account number and we ran into the aforementioned issue, I asked if they could possibly trace the transaction via my card but informed me that that was not possible. What would have happened if I didn't preorder the game onto my partner's account and I did not have my receipt? Something is not adding up at this store.
Fantastic experience: Very great. The employee who helped me was awesome don't know his name though.
Negative experience: Rude staff. Go to the other one on j and 20th. This location Wouldn’t accept my trade in console because a bite mark on the controller. But everything was fully functional but they wouldn’t even try it. Took to the other GameStop location at j and 20th, staff were great. Got more than expected for my trade it. They took the controller but charged a fee, which was expected. Towards a new console.
Fantastic experience: Always a great place
Negative experience: These guys have to be trained to scam people or something. I bought a PS5 here and they tried to push warranty, and everything else on me. I obliged to warranty, however, I repeatedly 5-6 times requested that he did not charge me for play station + $25. He charged me for that, and the warranty I denied on the discs, these guys are like fishy salesmen. I went in today and told them I had online rewards that were not letting me apply them to my account and the lady said back that it’s because I didn’t have any points, and I kept telling her because I redeemed them for the rewards. And she kept telling me I only have 2000 points and not believing me. Steer clear from this fishy store they do not care about you. They just want your money which I feel is so sad as we do not have many places like this in the Antelope Valley. As we do not have stressful business competition. I am going to attempt to resolve this issue with customer service or franchise, If it does not work I’m gonna take them to small claims court.
Positive experience: Love GameStop but giving 4 stars because I’ve been tracking their website to see when they restock on the PS5 and i have NO LUCK. Please restock asap.
Negative experience: This place really has poor customer service do not go here especially if that rude worker Jose is there go to the mall location instead .. he wana b a worldstar .,, only 1 star cause u cant put zero ....
Fantastic experience: I'm sorry for not mentioning names as to not being able to remember them. Came in on 12/7/20 literally 4 before closing(I know because they greeted us and informed us that they will be closing in 4 mins) and if any questions or assistance they would be happen to help us. If I could give 5 stars across the board I would. I have never ever had an issue or felt a lack of customer service experience within gamestop but these two ladies beyond take the cake. So happy with service here at this Lancaster location on valley way. I bought 4 pops and renewed my game pro.
Negative experience: The Manager got racist with me so be careful with her. The guy is smart but lacks people skills which results in bad customer service. If he learns people skills he should be the one running the store.
Negative experience: You guys are garbage. Been calling for an hour and seriously no one answers the phone. Your customer service pathetic.
Fantastic experience: Great staff! Had a wonderful time !!
Positive experience: This is an above average GameStop. the wall of games is actually decently organized, and their stock is above average
Fantastic experience: Great customer service and knowledgeable staff. Easy to find location and very helpful.
Negative experience: If I can leave 0 stars I would. I purchased my son a used nintendo switch light for his birthday on March 5th it lasted until 2 days ago which was just after the 30 day warranty that it comes with. because we are unfortunately displaced... I'm in a domestic violence shelter and my children are Foster care.. I did not have an extra $30 for the year warranty that was an option at the time of purchasing this device. So now just a couple of days after the warranty expired it no longer turns on and hes in tears. Not only as he lost his mother and his sisters but now the one thing that brought him happiness is broken and they will not switch it out at the store for me even though it's just a couple of days past the warranty. where's the humanistic side of a gamestop? Are they just a big money pumping machine they have no heart for a child who has lost everything and now the 1 thing that brought him happiness while hes been separated from his family is broken. And the tragedy is because I am displaced and we are all separated I have no money to replace this for him. I'm fighting to acquire housing for us and to get us back together thanks gamestop I really appreciate wasting 200 bucks in your store and something that broke that he can no longer play and broke his heart!
Fantastic experience: The kids and love this game stop. Great customer service here.
Fantastic experience: It's GAME STOP Don't STOP the GAME
Fantastic experience: Very Helpful People and Nicely Spoken :) Pleasure Doing Business Here
Fantastic experience: Always so helpful
Negative experience: Bad buisness, the manager she is a horrible liar that made me uncomfortable, was trying to return Xbox sealed with receipt within return window frame, she gave me hard time and went on lying stating that exclusion applies and when I confronted her that it is not written in the receipt she made up a story about the district manager specifically changing the return policy starting this day! And eventually I was able to return it in another store within same district and when I asked them about that new return policy rules they said No such thing exists!!
Negative experience: This store is the worst store I have ever gone to. They are not honest. I was trying to return an Xbox that I got from them and went from a lie to lie started by saying that I was out of the return window and then ending up with a change of policy and pretending to speak with the area district manager who refuses to return bundled sales, fortunately, a few blocks away within same district there was another store. I returned the same deal, but I felt really upset that they lied and were manipulative with me. I don't recommend buying anything from them or dealing with those people. They are such a bad business who does not keep their words.
Positive experience: Great staff awesome products, at least the ones they had in stock.
Negative experience: Lousy... Rude service.
Fantastic experience: Lancaster GameStop's are both friendly an Helpful I recommend either of them for gaming deals or just about any accessories.
Negative experience: They never pick up the phone
Negative experience: The customer service here was awful. The employees seem irritated with the customers. And like they don't want to be there.
Negative experience: Male manager with long hair was very rude and would not help with a preorder placed in store with cash that I got an email about saying it was canceled.
Negative experience: I ordered a game over 2 weeks ago. I did not get my game. I called And spoke with a rep and she hung up. Called back again and the operator said my package was on its way and it never came. So I called again this time the simple minded rep actually Refunded my order as if that's what I asked for. So now I don't have my game and I still have to wait 4 to 9 or 5 to 9 business days to get my money back? If I had gone to Amazon I would have already had my stuff right now. This was a very poor experience with their staff and they couldn't sell a video game how pathetic is that? The best part is it's still in stock. So why do I not have my game? If it were possible to give gamestop less stars I would.
Fantastic experience: Dustin was absolutely Amazing. He was patient, knowledgeable and friendly. I had about 15 questions not including follow up questions to them and he remained professional and he even humored me with a couple of corny joke chuckles. When I called back for even more follow up questions his co-worker answered and I wish I remembered his name was just as awesome. If Dustin is a manager I can see why his co work was so well customer service savvy.
Fantastic experience: Come here a lot, good place to get what you want
Fantastic experience: Great place, friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Best place to buy game and so on
Negative experience: Long wait no control over customers coming in and out of the store didn't ha e any of the items on hand that there website claimed to be in stock
Fantastic experience: Bought some headphones for my son. Customer service was great. Very
Positive experience: Love the staff, service, selection, and location is always clean. Much thanks
Fantastic experience: Excellent team and love to help and answer any questions
Positive experience: They need to either order from Sony for the PS5 in order to meet the demand, or not offer the product via store pick-up. Pretty frustrating. I dont know whether this is a Sony problem or a GameStop problem...
Positive experience: Staff seems fake and doesnt seem to really listen . this has happened on two occasions now
Fantastic experience: IT WAS KOL BCUZ I GOT WHAT I CAME 4, PPL ACT LIKE THEY DIDN'T C ALL I PAID 4 WITH MY POINT'Z & TRIED 2 GET A FULL DOLLAR EXTRA BUT THAT WAS OUT
Positive experience: Typical gamestop with gamestop prices. The staff is usually knowledgeable and polite but there are a few rude employees who aren't helpful.
Negative experience: Employee couldn't honor a $5 coupon that expired the day before. Lame store lame employees. 1-star
Fantastic experience: Associate was supper helpful
Negative experience: The workers knew they had 5 PS5 pre-orders at 11:00 a.m., they opened the doors at Noon and didn't bother telling any of the remaining 45 people waiting in line that only the first 5 would get an order in.
Fantastic experience: Great service. Let me know about a coupon that expires in a few days.
Negative experience: Sold out of vr goggles
Fantastic experience: This store is awesome and so are the employees
Positive experience: It was cool just had some questions they was helpful wit buying online is tricky but cheaper than buying in the store
Positive experience: Great service with overpriced equipment for Sale.
Fantastic experience: Great guy working tonight. Helped me tremendously!!
Fantastic experience: The best GameStop employees I’ve ever encountered is at this location. Great people. In the 10ish years I’ve shopped at this store, the employees were always the best.
Negative experience: Worst gamestop ever, all the employees act entitled and honestly dont care about the customer
Fantastic experience: It's a good place to get my games, but I rarely got a good deal, the prices always normal, no great sales that you can say "omg, this is a really good chance to get this game"
Fantastic experience: It's open during COVID-19 pandemic (10 customers max, masks required). Their used game section seems to be shrinking every time I go in.... There is many more Xbox 360 games than PS3 games, for example.... But overall, pleasant experience. I suggest getting a membership and save a few bucks on used games. Ask the associates about that.
Negative experience: Says its indoor shopping but its only curbside pickup plus they never have anything you need in stock
Fantastic experience: Great service, always helpful, and my go to GameStop.
Fantastic experience: Friendly store staff
Fantastic experience: Staff is always helpful whether I'm looking for a game or Funko pop.
