They offer reasonable prices and store credit if you're selling to them. And everything I've bought has worked perfectly. Great store Also, there's a "video game museum" to check out while you're there.

Positive experience: Lots of retro games, consoles, controllers, and more available. They also have sodas and energy drinks for sale in case you're thirsty. The new location is smaller than their previous one, I wished they had stayed at their previous location that had more room and looked better. They used to have tournaments but after covid they don't have them anymore.

Bought a few games, and they also showcase and sell art from local artists at very reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and know their stuff, good conversation without being pushy. This place is awesome, I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: Brought a ps3 system from here and it literally looked and runs brand new! No scratches or weird sounds and came at a decent price with controller. I would definitely recommend shopping here for retro gaming products

Fantastic experience: This video game shop sells early video games like the Atari, 2600 and Fairchild all the way up to more recent systems. They have a lot of collectibles, as well, including a museum of home video arcade systems.

Positive experience: Good but not great. I don’t feel welcome here. The prices are very fair on most of the stuff here, and this shop is very well organized. I can appreciate the rewards system and their selection. Their other location is one of my favorites to occasionally visit but… This location is a lot smaller and has a lot less to offer. I also did not like being belittled and forgotten. It felt like the man working could not handle or “deal with” me, but was perfectly fine with my male counterpart. Basically just shut me down when I spoke. At one point the male with me repeated exactly what I said and he all the sudden was interested now after shutting me down. I have a LARGE collection of games, so I spend a lot of time in these stores. I spend extra at stores that treat me with respect. And how I got treated today has me feeling off about this location. I do like their sister location a lot, but I’m getting really sick of dealing with this.

Negative experience: Store had limited selection of games and what games they did have were very overpriced.

They downsized during the pandemic, now they are smaller, but still have the same soul and provide excellent service to the retro game enthusiasts of Houston!

Negative experience: I tried to sell them an almost new Nintendo DS and some games and they only offered me 30 dollars for the entire console and the games, I know how they have so many consoles and games for me it's a scam

Fantastic experience: When we were there the staff was very helpful in meeting the needs of a young man with a disability. They already knew when he came in what he played, what kind of games he liked, and how difficult he liked his games to be. It was really nice to see the staff being so attentive to his needs and make great recommendations for him. They treated him with respect and kindness.

Positive experience: This place used to be amazing! Loved the little retro video game museum they had ( They don't have it anymore)? They had great prices and the few employees where so nice and helpful. Recently went there (early June 2023) when the stored open in the morning, when I walked in the fist question I was asked is "Why do you have your phone out? Are you recording?" Well, 'Welcome In' and 'Good morning' to you too sir. Where are your manners? I was just texting my friend to see if he was hunting for any video games for his collection. The same employee who asked me the question continued to stare at me the whole time as if I was up to no good. He made me feel so uneasy and as if I was not welcome there. I wanted a copy of a video game but decided to walkaway since I did not wanna deal with that employees attitude and bad energy. I just decided to get away from that rude employee. I'm not sure if that employee was having a bad day, or if hes normally like this, but I hope all is well with him! I will not be returning to this location.

Fantastic experience: I was feeling like playing older games (as new ones these days haven't really been great) and decided to get a PS3 they had in stock as it was relatively inexpensive. Unfortunately, the disc drive on it didn't work. They were great about making things right! They didn't have another PS3 but let me switch out for a 360 Slim which has been working perfectly. The feel of nostalgia of going in and browsing and holding the games is great and I've been having a great time revisiting games from my past. The prices aren't really too different from online which is another plus. They've got games from like Atari era up to PS4/Xbox One The people working there are friendly and knowledgeable. Really happy this place exists just a short drive from me and will be revisiting often!

Fantastic experience: Decided to get into console gaming after a long time of just playing on a PC. Came here to get some new games, and was blown away by the variety. Although I did not buy a console from here, they had a great many at a good price. Bought Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain, and Gran Turismo 3 for the PlayStation 2, all at great prices. Hope to come back soon!

Fantastic experience: If you want to purchase a PlayStation, just don't hesitate to get it from the Game Over Videogames store. It's very recommendable to purchase anything from there. What Game Over Videogames store has is 100% reliable to get whatever you need from there either.

Negative experience: They moved looks more like a gamestop now. The trade in value now sucks it wasint the best before but now? They told us the games make better paperweights than anything else. These were ps4 games so old, but not That old.

Fantastic experience: This place is THE spot to find retro videogames and consoles. They even sometimes have gems like Conker's BFD for N64. Handheld Pokémon games are overpriced here though. They have a really good selection of PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Game Cube, Wii and Wii U, and older cartridge games.

Negative experience: My parents have been here quite a bit and the past 2-3 times they've been they have been screwed over on returns or exchanges. They insist they gave the store credit to my dad and they didn't not once but twice. Probably even more times than that i can't keep up. He talked to a buddy of his about this store and he said he's been through the same thing with them. You'd think having as many stores as they have they'd be able to figure stuff like this out better instead of trying to scam people. I highly doubt they dealt with the owners each time so I don't know why they'd try to pull the wool over my parents eyes. Maybe they were trained from the jump to be scammers who knows but this place blows. Too far of a drive for terrible service.

Fantastic experience: Josiah (hope I spelled it correctly), helped us out a ton in helping pick out our sega and accompanying games… my girlfriend had been upset as her childhood system and set of games were given away… GameOver had everything she wanted with the best prices all over town and a 2 week guarantee… when it didn’t work at first because my girlfriend was plugging it in wrong, Josiah confirmed it worked and even troubleshooted for us… very happy customers!

Fantastic experience: There are many vintage video games in this store (except for Game Boy/GBC; which is why I primarily went in there. I wish they had more, oh well). NES, Sega, Super, PS1, PS2, etc, you name it, they have it. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I ended up buying 2 PS2 games at a low price. Thanks, guys! Negative experience: Never sell your games or systems here I took a sega genesis and 10 games and they only offered 38 dollars i don't even think they put it in the system or checked anything just made a price

Fantastic experience: This place is it. You want Super Smash Bros. for GameCube? Done. Original case and game guide. Buy an old console from them for the games you've had for 20 years when it was new? They have 3. Console has an unforeseen defect? Come swap it out for another one! No exchange issues. Aftermarket replacements for the little things. RCA cables, extra controllers. They got it. Josiah and the other gentleman (didn't get his name. black guy with a fro) are absolutely great. Next up for me is a SNES console to play the Killer Instinct black edition I've had for 23 years. Thanks guys!

Fantastic experience: Went over Christmas for some gifts, this place is amazing. Get ready for major dose of NOSTALGIA. The service was outstanding. The gentlemen there were all a delight and extremely helpful. This is a retro gaming store so you'll be able to find many of the old school original gaming systems and accessories.

Negative experience: Very crowded and disorganized. They don't care if your game is a legitimate game or if it is a reproduction or a bootleg. Unless the employee is Josiah, they won't bother testing or cleaning your game cartridge for the Gameboy Advance or for other devices. Pitiful employee customer service and pitifully kept games, have received multiple bootlegs and reproductions that fail to work. Would NOT recommend this location for gamers or people interested in retro games, console and gaming merchandise.

Negative experience: Buyer Beware. Be careful making purchases here. Their return policy states returns on defective purchase for exchange or store credit. What they don’t tell you is that defective is discretionary. Returned a game that was defective. They test the game for 3mins and say “ it’s not defective “. Customer is not always right here. Save yourself some trouble and shop elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I Love the vintage video game system museum they have at the rear of the store. My wife is a lot younger than me and to be able to see all of the systems that I use to own and to explain certain eras of my life was pretty fun. They also have these new age systems that play multiple systems cartridges like NES, SUPER NES AND SEGA GENESIS. You can bet money that I bought one of these bad boys.

Fantastic experience: Pretty good selection of retro games and consoles. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. If they don't know the answer to your question they don't mind trying to get it for you. Prices are much better than Gamestop.

Negative experience: Customer service was really bad when I went. I asked an employee if they have something, and he said "no" with the worst attitude possible. I try to be nice about it, but that employee was just in a bad mood and took it out on me and didn't take me seriously! I'm never going back to this store and taking my business elsewhere! (P.S. I don't know the employee's name, but he was working on June 26th, 2021 at around 5PM with very long black hair)

Negative experience: Order a console a month a ago and have yet to receive it, I understand that it takes some time but not a month when I shipped something recently and it got to my family member in 4 days and they are on the opposite side of the u.s, will definitely not Order anything from them again

Negative experience: They gave me bad service I'm disabled and accidentally dropped the empty case trying to check out. They were refusing service because I dropped the EMPTY case. I found the employees very disrespectful and didn't help at all.

They even have a back area where you can see the evolution of gaming consoles. If you’re a true gamer you def have to swing by and scope this place out!

Besides being a video game museum, the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. Plus, there were normal people in there and that always makes me feel less awkward.
