Negative experience: I love this place but the experience shopping here is not the best. I’m currently frustrated trying to call the store, because they charged me more than they should have just because they read their own label wrong. I do not come here often so not getting an answer when I call is incredibly frustrating, especially when you guys NEVER answer. I always get some machine that says “we are busy with other customers” but then I can show up and there be only 1 other person shopping in there?? It’s very annoying.

Negative experience: It's a great store but I will never understand why you can't call them to ask about a game or system, I live in Winston its a long drive to drive to just take a chance to see if they have it. Answer your phone! It's not that hard

Fantastic experience: Absolutely Awesome store!!! They have an incredible selection of NES, SNES, SEGA and GAMEBOY games. They also have a vast variety of other items related to other game stuff! Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff!!! I will be going in every time that I am in Greensboro!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Lost Ark was one of the first local businesses I found when I moved to Greensboro years ago- and its been one of my favorite places for years now. The staff are so kind and friendly, the store always has accessible prices, + the arcade is a blast (and there's an arcade cat). This business has always been supportive of local artists, and participates in community events. The values of the staff and store are so warm, inclusive, and bright. Plainly, any negative reviews insulting the staff is uninformed, biased, or rude conjecture.

Fantastic experience: This is such a fun store, whether you're looking for a specific retro game or just want to kill some time in the arcade, this little store is the epitome of what makes Greensboro unique. This place isn't owned by corporate overlords, and is a safe and inviting place for women which can be a rare find for game stores. Kenzi (one of the owners) is really helpful and nice to chat with. I really hope Greensboro does a good job of keeping this place in business because this spot is really what we need in the city and in the gaming community.

Fantastic experience: Lost Ark is genuinely the best video game store I’ve ever been to. From games, to anime, to manga, to plushies, to collectibles - Lost Ark really has it all. The vibes in the store are immaculate- a cozy, cute atmosphere with great synth music always playing. The games and selection are great, but what makes Lost Ark special is the people. Everyone from top to bottom is kind, welcoming, and great. I’ve never had an instance where I didn’t immediately feel like a part of the community they’ve worked so hard to build. Daniel and Kenzi have cultivated an incredible team (but more like a family) and always go the extra mile for the people who visit Lost Ark. If you’re local, or not, and love video games, there’s no reason to go anywhere but here.

Negative experience: Unfortunately cannot recommend Lost Ark due to the staff. I overheard the manager and another employee making disgruntled comments and jokes about customers from the front of the store. I could not distinguish if they were referring to my partner, who was chatting with the owner for a while about the arcade and seemed to be having a nice conversation. However, regardless if they decided to be rude about a previous shopper or a patron literally still in the store, it felt catty and uncalled for. To say all this within earshot of current shoppers is careless. To say your biggest pet peeve is when customers say they “come here all the time” when maybe you don’t see them often, is incredibly childish: as if that isn’t a common phrase for making small talk at a place you enjoy visiting. The whole act inadvertently made our visit feel unwelcome. After browsing through their responses to negative reviews, it’s easy to see professionalism is not something they value or practice. I’m sure I will get my own witty comeback to excuse their poor behavior! Spend your money elsewhere, at bare minimum where you will not be belittled while supporting their business.

Fantastic experience: Great selection of game consoles,games,and gift ideas for kids. The customer service was great also staff is knowledgeable and personable.I definitely will be coming back in the near future.

Negative experience: What a sad and hateful person, reading reviews to see if mine was the only bad experience, saw the other negative reviews and can't believe anyone would still shop here after reading the responses from the owner.. I am sure they will just love taking the time out of their day to attempt to ream me a new one over this one too. Too bad I don't care. I even found where a single mom on Facebook posted screenshots of her review and the owner called them so many names and said other hateful stuff. It literally proved the review right. Why work with the public if you hate your customers so much?

Fantastic experience: I got a Sega Dreamcast from here, had some issues with it, and they went above and beyond to make it right--- troubleshooting, basically performing open heart surgery on it, and setting me up with some stuff for my troubles. I've been coming to this place for over 10 years, and between their arcade (now next door) and this--- this place is an exemplary small business. If you're looking for retro or other nerd related stuffs in Greensboro, you'd be dumb to go anywhere else. Their staff is the best.

Negative experience: I'm a little disappointed with lost ark with my most recent purchase. I have to say this store is usually amazing and very accurate with their game prices. When I go there I typically buy something from behind the retro glass. When I checked the game again when I got home I came to the realization that they charged me a much higher price for a different version of the game. I am not sure if this was meant to be sneaky or purely an accident, but I would advise you to check you prices when purchasing from there on price charting. I was charged about 65% above normal asking price on price charting and about 50% about normal price on ebay. Willing to show proof store stickers still on the game.

Fantastic experience: I'm a Japanese working in the US. This arcade is awesome. Thank you for your love of Japanese games. After 35years, FINAL FIGHT's skill has not declined.

Friendly, exceptionally helpful staff and all round great vibes! Update: all they've done in the time between my original review and now is improve! They've expanded their selection of niche, game related fun stuff and completely revamped the arcade to be much bigger and more varied. Positive experience: Very cool place. Old school games, gaming systems, figures, anime items, new games, etc. I'm not a big gamer and I'm old school so I have a PS2. They had plenty of games to choose from. Some were a little pricier than I was expecting but also some were cheaper than I expected. No issues with the game working and hardly any marks on the disc. Even has the manual.

Fantastic experience: They did a great job of taking care of me with what i was looking for, they have a big selection of games and consoles from every gaming era, and they have a lot of collectibles. They are a great local store and I recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic selection of games, consoles, video game-related merch, and more. There were a ton of handhelds and I was able to pick up a Game Boy Pocket in silver that I've always wanted as a kid. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Cheers!

Fantastic experience: If youre a gamer or a fan of figures, anime, looking for an arcade or just like to talk with others who share those interests, then this is the place for you. I have yet to meet anyone who is not friendly here. Don't get me wrong im not talking to everyone I see here, but everyone seems pleasant enough. If you do happen to come here and meet someone not pleasant just remember we are all human and have lives and are all dealing with something. Let's first treat others the way we want to be treated and go from there. Lets love one another and always be of encouragement. And of that dont work take em to the arcade and beat them in some fighting games lol.

Negative experience: Went to lost ark like I usually do to buy over $100 worth in games but this time wanted to do something different and trade in a game. The Owner was very unprofessional and very immature. While helping me with my trade in, he told me to wait and ventured off with another customer. Then he helped another customer with HER trade in and he immediately looks up a price for her Sega Game but not my Japanese ps5 game? Sexist much. Then after 10min of waiting when we was going to walk off with a customer to talk about the arcade, I then said "excuse me bossman." He then looked at me with some attitude and was like "yeah?" So I then ask politely about my trade in and THE OWNER got offened. Tossed my game back and told me to leave. He then proceeded to curse at me and use the F word as if he had no home training. It should be all on camera since it was by the front door camera. The owner shouldn't be smoking pens before and during work. Makes sense why he so easily distracted, short tempered and has a short attention span. Someone needs to put that owner Check

Fantastic experience: Great selection of games. And the over all style is an experience in its self. Greensboro is lucky to have a place like this if you love video games. It is a step above other game shops.

Negative experience: The reviewers that say Lost Ark doesn’t answer their phone or dm’s on social media are true. If you want any help you’ll have to take a gamble and make the drive to the store. Will they have what you’re looking for? Maybe. Will you waste gas trying to answer a question that a phone call could’ve given you? Maybe. The owner ONLY responding to when those negative reviews are also true! Great store though, terrible communication. Let’s see the response on this one.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend that if you're a fan of anime figures or like miku or any type of anime you like and if you wanna get a figure of your own favorite anime character or like a splatoon figure also they are clean and never been messy or dirty so I love these figures I jusy really really recommend to go this place if you like anime or games !! Negative experience: here’s a picture with the price tags says lost ark and and video of me turning it on and off twice showing yall it doesnt work. when i bought it, it didn’t not come with batteries. stop ignoring my calls if you actually care to take care of your customers adding: i have left you several voice messages with my cell phone number, name, and what’s wrong, waiting for you to call back. instead of being a troll why don’t you answeryou phone instead of ignoring my calls since september. i will gladly post a screenshot of the $300 transaction on my credit card from lost ark, and yall know who i am because i’ve been a customer here before several times. google my name you’ll find it PLEASE do not buy any electronics without them turning it on!!! i bought a game boy color that does not work and I have been trying to get in contact with them for months. they will literally steal your money and ignore you!!! its so sad too bc its the same game boy i had as a kid and i can’t even enjoy the $160 i spent on it :( shame

Fantastic experience: Lords of the East! Lost Ark may very well be the greatest vintage game store in America (and I've seen them all). Somehow manages to always bring the heat and serve you things you didn't even know you needed (or knew existed). From ultra rare titles like Rule of Rose, CD-i Zelda, and Snood 2: Snoods on Vacation to the biggest selection of animé, Prima guides, gunpla, and board games on the coast, Lost Ark truly has it all. Staffed with a unit full of retail vets with decades of experience and customer care, they will go literally above and beyond to meet your needs and leave you satisfied. Treat them with kindness and it will be returned tenfold. Also don't forget to check the new, two-story arcade next door. If your mind was already blown from Lost Ark, Arcadia Manor will turn you into a puddle of Mountain Dew. How is something like this in Greensboro? We surely don't deserve it and I am forever grateful.

Positive experience: In store the employees are very helpful but we live an hour away and they never answer the phone it always goes strait to voice mail nd it's a little frustrating trying to call ahead to see if a product is available when there phone seems to be set to go strait to there answering message, have gone countless time an hour each direction for the product where searching for to not be in store

Fantastic experience: I visited from out of state and had a very nice experience. I’ve been to a lot of video game stores and This place has some serious charm. The store is very pretty to look at, very nicely organized, and very welcoming. Everyone I spoke to was very kind. I picked up a few games for my collection, a couple for some friends, and some lost ark merchandise because they had some very nice items. When I am back in NC I will definitely stop here again!

Asked a long-haired goth woman about getting a copy of Pokemon stadium, she was very knowledgeable, helped me quickly and politely, didn't upsell anything, offered to clean the cartridge without me asking, literally a customer service interaction taken from my dream. I couldn't ask for a better place, and I'm gonna come back for all my video game purchases

Negative experience: Store does not fix or repair consoles .they used to .but chick said they never did but we all know they did .sad about it .it's close to my home . Re: I know for a fact at one time lost Ark fixed our games .I know many people who brought their stuff there .we all aren't crazy .I've never seen you before .and won't ever again .done with this place didn't have act so hostile about it .we just wanted our games fixed .you was more focused on me saying y'all used to do it .I only mentioned it cause I know many people who go there and always needing stuff worked on.

Fantastic experience: The staff and organization of the store was great. The only downside was the parking but that was not the establishment’s fault. This was a great place to get anything you want when it comes to games or Japanese merch.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome, they have something relating from every system from Colecovision to current stuff, foreign and domestic. rare games/cartridges, conversion cables. They even have an arcade next door. They are so nice to the customers and you meet cool people from talking to the other customers. Definitely 10 out of 10.

Positive experience: Store has a good variety of games for a large variety of consoles. I usually find some harder to find or obscure titles here. Prices aren't always the greatest, usually about 20% more than online prices, but sometimes you can find a deal. Staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. Always make a point to stop here every year when I am in town.

Fantastic experience: As I continue to write reviews on Google, this will be one of the few times I will absolutely hate that the ratings only go up to five stars. Lost Ark Video Games is a perfect retro game store. I've been coming here since I was in high school over ten years ago and I've been over the moon happy seeing the store grow. It use to be a small part of the building it occupies now, and seeing it recently expand into the building next door to flesh out its arcade to not one but TWO floors was incredible. Sure, retro game prices aren't the best, but their quality control is far beyond anything McKay's does with their retro games. The atmosphere is amazing with the bright, colorful interior, very friendly and inviting staff, a near fully functional arcade with only one or two machines down for repair, and a section completely dedicated to Gundam figure building. That's not my cup of tea, but it's still really cool nonetheless. Overall, Lost Ark is a heartfelt love letter to gamers old and new, with a wide variety of games and systems to browse, a two story arcade for a fun night out. Do NOT pass up this place when you're in Greensboro. If any of the Lost Ark staff actually reads these reviews, I just want to say thank you for being a cornerstone of my collecting hobby for a decade. It means the world to me.

Fantastic experience: Lost Ark is expanding! The video games are now next door. There are 2 levels of games. The vibe is chill. When you're not playing, take a seat in one of their cozy sitting chairs. There are various types of games to play. I was busy upstairs playing nostalgia games like Ghost N Goblins and Super Mario. There are still lots of plushies and collectibles to buy in the main store.

Fantastic experience: Recently visited Lost Ark after not being here in over 7 years, and the quality of this place has only improved. There are very few places (especially with the current economic situation) that MAKE you want to throw money at them, Lost Ark is one of them. Their selection of retro consoles and video games is endless, and while some are used, they are extremely well maintained. Best of all and most importantly, they’re affordable. While some games and consoles have prices that make you go “no way thats worth that much”, turns out they are. Many of these games are collector grails and priced accordingly. In addition to the retro games it’s easy to get lost browsing their huge selection of Anime figurines/model kits and their healthy selection of Manga. Got to give a shoutout to the employees as well, very nice and very helpful. Please throw your money at these guys, they’re one of the few places that deserver it.

Negative experience: BUYER BEWARE!! We visited the store from out of town and purchased Super Mario 3D World for the WiiU. When we got back to NJ and tried it out, the system cannot read the disc and the game will not play. I would not recommend buying defective video games from here.

Fantastic experience: It's honestly my favorite place in the world go be. They have great reasonable prices based on the market. They have a super cool arcade having cool Japanese cabinets having all kinda of classic games of the 90s. The costumer service is great people are friendly and have a passion for the art. They have all kinda of games even rare ones that are awesome to see in the wild, Japanese games, Nintendo power, posters, snacks, arcade, manga, anime figures, games somany games of any system you can think of. This place is like a dream.

Negative experience: When I walk into a small store I anticipate acknowledgement of my presence. No one spoke, no one was busy, and I felt like they don't need customers. I was looking for a PlayStation 5 controller but their price is the same as buying one brand new with a warranty. They do have a TON of collectibles for someone into Anime.

Fantastic experience: They have an epic arcade in the back, a bunch if cool stuff. Great respectful owner with a large variety of product. From home made to classic bangers. You won't get a better selection than here!.

Negative experience: Went here from an hour away... was told it's a great store (which it is) and decently priced. Imagine my suprise when a used game went for brand new retail price and in some cases even more! The markup is ridiculous! Go browse but don't get hopeful. It's ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: One of my favorite places in the city I hang out here with friends a lot and I love all staff the owner Dan has always been super nice to me and my sister who works there there’s a great selection of stuff and I’ve gotten some of my favorite collectibles here, any time I wanna look for a game it’s usually one of the first places I go I’m honestly shocked at how many people say it’s overpriced I think their pricing is really fair. The Arcade is great too it’s super cheap to get in and once you’re in all the games are free play so you can spend as much time in there as you want I’ve had a blast there with my friends before and I’m always excited to go back! I also wanted to give a shout out to some of my favorite staff members Traci, Kenzi, Chuck, Oona, and once again the owner Dan!

Negative experience: It's great if you are into Japanese anime games, if retro arcade games is what you are looking for, this place is not it and $10 is not worth the price of the selection that they have. Ask for a tour of arcade before you pay for admission price to see if it's for you, I wish I did.

Fantastic experience: Loved this place! Video games are not my thing, but this place has something for everyone. So much cute stuff, I could’ve spent so much money in there! My boyfriend got us tickets for the small arcade, it was fun! Definitely will be back next time in town!

Fantastic experience: This store is so cool! Amazes me that I still find unique spots around Greensboro after living here most of my life. The staff was great— we were greeted and assisted to find exactly what we had in mind. Merchandise was neat and stocked, there was an arcade in the back, and with every purchase you’re given a token to play on the claw machine. Loved it. I wish I had gotten photos of the place.

Fantastic experience: I’ve visited this place over a dozen times over the past 3 years and it’s expanded significantly. The interior itself is an experience altogether. Cool retro gaming vibe and lots of things to look at. They usually have the best selection of gaming related merchandise that I’ve seen in the area and more niche franchises pop up sometimes. I’ve purchased lots of little toys and plushies, figures and some games. Lately they have been getting some more cutesy items so I thought I would post a review for the girls that like Sanrio and stationary. They have also added some new gashapon capsule machines too.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful little nerd shop, one of the only local places I've seen that sells Gundams, after my first visit, I know for a fact that I will be back here constantly so I can add to my collection. Wonderful assortment of collectibles, games, figures, everything a collector could want.

Positive experience: Amazing selection, but way overpriced. Went to get Mario Party 3 and it was $95. I went to Matts Game Exchange off Battleground and got it there for $34. The retro games are way over market value. They had a Pokemon Blue version for $400. It’s absolutely insane. Try Ebay if you plan on actually making a purchase.

Fantastic experience: My brother in law works at a hobby shop and had a customer recommend this store to him. I recently bought my wife an N64 for her birthday and did not realize I needed an expansion pak for the copy of Donkey Kong 64 I got her. I looked on eBay for one and decided to check this store out first, so she could play as soon as possible. This store has amazing vibes! It felt very welcoming the second you walk in and they had practically anything you could imagine. They had the expansion pak we needed. I was told they were a little overpriced, but the expansion pak was only ten dollars more than what was on eBay, I didn’t have to pay shipping, the experience was positive, and I got to support a local business. So I can’t complain! Would definitely recommend this place if you’re needing anything retro gaming, or anything nerdy in general.

Positive experience: Lost Ark is a retro game store with a great selection of used games, plus other items like plushies, keychains, figures, anime figures, manga, etc. It’s a fun store to browse, but I can’t justify or recommend shopping here for most things. Their video game selection, while impressive, is significantly overpriced - expect to pay at least 20% more than actual market value on any of their retro used games regardless of condition. Even lower end games, which are left out in bins and consequently mishandled by customers, are marked up to near double what they should be. You can get the same games for much cheaper and in way better condition on eBay or other local stores. Similarly to my point on mishandled games, small plushies (some from Japan, which is cool) are left out in bins and are visibly dirty, yet still priced at a premium. Current era Switch games and anime figures are the exception here - fair prices and the convenience of getting imported figures make for a decent deal.

Fantastic experience: This place is so great!! I have lived in Greensboro my whole life and never been here. This place is a hidden gem! I didn’t get the guys name who talked to me and my wife, but he was the best and was so kind, he had Chicago Cubs apparel on. I will definitely be shopping here from now on.

Negative experience: Want to pay way too much for anything? Go here. $30 for very small, smol!, plushie. Loose game manuals starting at $15 unless you want Ocarina of Time manuals, they’re $25. Paid 5$ for eye of the beholder on snes online, not bad right? Here it’s $25. For an okayish snes common game. Good god this place will take you for ride. Good selection though, can’t lie.

Negative experience: They have a lot of stuff but they are way overpriced. Other stores in town gave the same games and consoles for much less. Their stuff is listed at the highest possible retail price. Save your money and look in other places before you buy from here. And don't bother telling them that other places has it at a lower price, they get very defensive and rude about it.

Fantastic experience: I've never been to a place like this but what an experience for my first time. I've had friends who have served in the military & tell me about places like this in Japan. For only $10 per person I had access to over 20 arcade games. It was a great, relaxing & fun experience great for first dates even if you're not a gamer. Tons of nostalgic game consoles & games available for purchase along with other items. HIGHLY recommend the fighter jet game, I spent alot of time playing this one in particular. You'll see this great mural across the street to know youre in the right place.

Fantastic experience: Small store, but super cool joint with lots of retro and a whole arcade in the back. Just have to pay admission for free play as long as you're there. Glad I took the time to visit. Worth the trip if you haven't.

Fantastic experience: My long trek through the gaming desert finally ended with a quenching sip from Lost Ark’s accommodating oasis. My eyes felt unworthy once I saw the selection of games inside the store, this is truly a cathedral of cutting edge taste. & as for the staff, they were and are legends of boundless wit. The owner’s kindness and ambitious crusade to satisfy their customers is performed as an art, and if good art is a jewel, their continuous dedicated efforts are a whole rope of pearls. I take pleasure in recommending this store and the charming individuals who operate it to anyone in need of a gaming fix.

Negative experience: Had a less than stellar experience here today. My boyfriend bought me a Nintendo DS yesterday evening after we had purchased a second hand one and the screen was not working. When I got it later, I played it and was just not happy with the purchase. There were no problems with the DS, it’s just not what I was expecting. Less than 24 hours later, we went to return it this morning & was met with “we don’t accept returns, you can only get store credit.” I asked why and was just told “it’s policy.” That policy was not made known to us until we went to return. It wasn’t mentioned last night, it’s not on their website, it’s not even by their registers. There’s only the little “return if defective by 7 days” on the receipt. You’d think as a retailer, they’d at least post their policies where customers can clearly see it. If this policy had been made known to us prior, we definitely wouldn’t have went forward with the purchase. The manager or owner kept on trying to get us to keep the item/exchange for something else and I just really didn’t want anything especially after finding out I can’t get my money back. His demeanor also was really off putting when I began to question why we couldn’t get a refund. Definitely won’t be returning.

Fantastic experience: such a cool place. it’s awesome how much care they put into the preservation of these old consoles and games. prices are high sometimes, but that just comes with the territory and they’re honestly fair for what you’re getting. even if you don’t buy anything, you should definitely check this place out. they have an arcade too!

Fantastic experience: Wow! I came in expecting very little and was amazed! This place is great! It had all the old systems and so many games! The staff was helpful and they have an arcade inside too that has real Japanese arcade games! They also have a huge anime section, including models and anime! There is a very small adult Manga section, but it should not stop you or your child from coming! There's nostalgia for you and plenty of games and candy and soda for the children! The arcade is a pay-to-play-by-time. As in, you pay at the register and go play unlimited while you're time is going. It's a steal for the money!

Fantastic experience: Went there on a weekend, the employees were very nice and very helpful, loved the amount of different merchandise in the store it felt so big with the amount of things. Was there for 4 hours and was greatly entertained by the arcade (one game took me 1hr to complete didn't know the time went that fast!) I think he said his name was Daniel, he helped me alot and helped made my experience much more entertaining. 10/10 would be back again and added to my list of fun places to go to. (Ps.thanks for the genshin stuff)

Fantastic experience: What a nostalgic yet currently hot spot for my kiddos!?.... We went 9 years without going back because we moved out of state and just revisited this past weekend. The owner is so kind and the store has grown .... tripled in size and merchandise. The arcade is so fun and versatile. My 13-year-old and 9-year-old had so much fun; I also went back in time playing Tetris, Ninja Turtles and Street Fighter. ... it's just a great, local, unique spot.

Fantastic experience: love love LOVE this place. it's only gotten better since the remodel and expansion, and is packed to the gills with games and merch. one of my favorite things offered are the ichiban kujis, where you get to draw for random prizes themed around a franchise. staff has always been super kind and helpful, even letting us sometimes exchange kuji prizes for different designs in the same tier. this place is so bad for my wallet but so worth the trip every time. show them some love!!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best video game store in North Carolina! Amazing selection of retro video games as well as speciality items imported from Japan. Incredible arcade open daily, and there’s something for everyone. Wonderful staff that is very helpful and friendly - can’t say enough nice things about this place. Must visit!!!

There are goods from Japan that you won’t see elsewhere. The arcade in the back is free play for a small price and totally worth it! Really great Japanese rhythm. Highly highly recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: Super cool store to browse through, tons of old retro games and more modern stuff. A working Pokemon Snap Kiosk is such a cool sight to see in 2022! Staff were very friendly. Would absolutely visit again if I'm ever in the area.

Fantastic experience: This was an incredible gem to find. Such a big selection, things you will not find anywhere else around here. The nostalgia alone is enough of a reason to stop in, but there is also a wide variety of video games, vintage gaming systems, plushies and so much more. The folks working in the store when I went in were super friendly, and took good care of my son too as a customer.

Positive experience: Great selection from video games, toys, and music. Only issue I have is no one picks up the phone. I called multiple times in 2 days with an automated message saying they were busy. I Drove 30min to see if they had the video game I needed (of course not) so I called while in the store to see if I could get someone and nope(employees were behind the counter chilling). Idk if the lines are not working but with gas prices so high it would be nice to get an answer from someone to save a trip.
