GameStop: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Me and my boyfriend come here ever so often just to pop our heads in and today we stopped in and Tieler the cashier was such an amazing worker and his energy was just so welcoming and fun! You could tell he loved talking to customers and making your experience there 10x better. Tieler is an excellent worker, He even made our purchases fun by making it a game of rock, paper, scissors and i highly recommend stopping in and saying hi!
Negative experience: MLB 26 was 49.99 for sticker price and it rang up 69.99 I told the employee and they refused to honor the price. Would not recommend doing business here.
Negative experience: I normally don’t leave reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I felt the need to. Last night I stopped in to buy a board game for a child’s birthday present and waited in line behind one customer. At first, I completely understood that Tyler was helping them with a purchase. However, after the sale was finished, the interaction turned into several more minutes of casual conversation while I continued standing there waiting. At one point, Tyler acknowledged me and apologized, so I assumed he was about to ring me up. Instead, he went right back to chatting with the customers in front of me while I continued waiting. My family had already gone outside because it was taking so long. Eventually I got frustrated, put the game back, and walked out without buying anything. Only then did Tyler offer to help me check out. I understand being friendly with customers, but there’s a difference between good customer service and ignoring people who are waiting to make a purchase.
Negative experience: Awful place with awful employees, bought a console not long ago, I was harassed by them trying to sell me all kinds of stuff which when I said no they kept insisting, they got mad when I said no too many times and start being aggresive saying I was calling them scammers or something, I ended up buying the pro membership because they guy named Josh said I would get 20 dollars next time i purchase something, when I returned to buy a game turns out I didn’t have any points and the same guy didn’t care saying he couldn’t do anything. Why lie in the first place? I am never coming back to this place, so sad to see this is still open.
Negative experience: Went in for a digital game. The front desk lady was rude and told me she doesnt know how there system works and to buy the gift cards instead of the digital game thats offered at a discount on there website. Its sad the mall GameStop remained opened instead of the one that actually helped people that was closed. I will no longer shop at the gamestop in the mall.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with this store brought in a ps5 pro on 4/19 to trade in and they accused me of tampering with my controller and proceeded to talk shit saying oh I thought we might have to call security after they got an attitude because I questioned them bout my controller after they slammed on my controller trying to see how it was supposedly tampered with
Negative experience: The GM wouldn't let my husband redeem my $5 discount. He will be the reason this store closes. You don't have to be rude about it.
Positive experience: It's been 2x I've gone here and they tell me the previous shift staff took the glass case keys preventing customers from buying anything. You would think if there is only 1 key for opening the glasses case you would ensure staff are instructed to bring it back. I can only imagine how many sales gamestop has lost out on over that issue.
Negative experience: Today I bought a game for my PS3 and paid for a one-year damage protection plan. The employee gave me the wrong game, and when I went back to exchange it for the correct one, they simply told me they didn't have the game in stock and couldn't refund the money I had paid for the insurance. So, how can they charge me for the wrong game and refuse to refund the insurance money when they didn't even provide the game? In the end, he told me not to bother trying to contact the manager because he would just tell me the same thing, and I wasn't able to get a phone number to call. This was the worst experience I've ever had—with Brady or Brody; I can't recall the employee's name.
Negative experience: I've been getting cards and accessories here and only get wrestling cards and they are hard to come by at MSRP. They had a few mega boxes of product I was looking for with 59.99 sticker price. I only grabbed two boxes. They rang up at 99.99 when they scanned. I asked why if they said 59.99 why it would come uo is that. He said thats what it comes up as in our system. I said you arent going to honor the price and they said no and turned to what I assume was a manager saying that topps products fluctuate all the time and they need to resticker it. It was the drop day for that product so the first day it should have even been on the floor for sale. Really put a bad taste in my mouth for a company like that. They say they do this to deter card scalpers when that makes gamestop themselves the scalpers. Horrible business practice IMO.
Positive experience: Good
Negative experience: when i asked the cashier if i could set my bags behind the counter, since i dont want my hands full when shopping, he dismissed me and said he was helping someone else. I stood awkwardly waiting for him to come back for 5 minutes before I was met with "you can carry them". While being checked out, he charged me 25 dollars after siging up for a membership plan when I was never asked if that was something i wanted. He came off as a little passive aggressive and hostile and it was making me really uncomfortable. I don't think I'll be coming back to this location. After I said that wasnt something I wanted, he gave me a paper that had membership options on it anyways and told me to look it over when i get home.
Negative experience: I’m not pleased with the person that was helping me today he asked if I had a number I said no asked if I wanted to sign up without specifications that it would cost me 25 dollars will never be going to a game stop again
Negative experience: Workers failed to help. Stood in line for 15-20 minutes just for the workers to tell us the line changed spots, moving to the back.... twice. Bad experience
Fantastic experience: Great place to get a quick pick up
Negative experience: Found a PS4 game that was marked as $15. It rang up as $20. When we asked about it, they said the price tag was from Black Friday and it wasn’t that price anymore. We asked if they would honor the $15 since it was marked as such. The staff member gave us an ugly look and said no. Needless to say they lost our entire sale, including the other item we were going to purchase. This is bad business practice and I never intend on going back to this location.
Negative experience: Went in last night, so my son could buy a Xbox controller. He found one for $59.99 When we went to ring it up, it rang up for over $75 with tax. I asked him if that was right and the guy behind the counter said yeah they’re actually $69.99, but we haven’t changed the price on them yet. I asked if they would honor the price on the tag and he rudely said nope as he ripped the tag off the box, so we left and went to Best Buy. Found the same controller for $49 and their warranty plan was half the price. Thank you, GameStop for sending us to Best Buy and saving us money.
Negative experience: Sell your used games or used consoles to rock 30 games or electric underground, GameStop is trash and offers the bare minimum, I don’t remember the name of the employee but he had a shitty attitude like most game stop workers
Fantastic experience: Sam was extremely helpful with a return/exchange. Very happy with my visit at this location.
Negative experience: They are back dooring there Pokemon stuff
Negative experience: Employee named Elizabeth was super rude on top of that extremely incompetent didn’t even use my rewards when she lied and said it worked had to go out of my way to speak with the regional manager at another location to get everything fixed came up with a bunch of lies when the manager immediately knew something was off
Negative experience: I came in to place an order and have it shipped to my home. Elizabeth was the employee that "helped" me place the order. Not only does she display poor customer service but she failed to apply my pro member details. After the order was placed, I noticed the amount was more than what it should have been. She then claimed the extra cost was the shipping and that I was unable to redeem my 5$ monthly coupon. What was suppose to be a simple order, quickly turned into a hassle. I had to drive to the location on 45th to have it cancelled and fixed.
Positive experience: Very spendy and the game I wanted wasn't on display. If I hadn't asked the guy at the counter I wouldn't have been able to get it. Lots of neat stuff
Negative experience: Super rude employees that have accused me of being under 18 multiples times (I’m 22 and have shown my ID after them yelling and trying to tell me in not old enough to buy stuff)
Fantastic experience: For a few months now I have been searching for the new Sleeping Eevee plush (Jazwares). Neither Walmart or Target ever had it in store anywhere in the area, same thing going online, it looks like they never got distributed to this area. I went into the 45th Street GameStop location and asked if they ever had it in, they said they hadn't but the regional manager who was in at the time told me to check the West Acres location, I did a few days later but missed the two of them that came in in the meantime, so we took my phone number and said that he would get back to me if they could get them in. He ended up calling me on a weekend to tell me that they were getting two of them in, and a few days later I finally got it. It is difficult to understate how much getting that phone call and holding it for the first time meant to me, and the effort on their part to make sure that it happened. 10 years ago I don't think you could have gotten me into a GameStop, bad customer service everywhere and a general hostility toward the game franchises that I like that came not just from employees but from the company itself. Examples of exceptional customer service such as this are a light that can banish even the most negative and dark thoughts about a company. And it wasn't just the fairly new manager, both of the locations in town have a much fresher and friendlier feel to them. If you have had negative experiences in the past that are keeping you away, give them another chance, things really have changed.
Fantastic experience: Andy might be the FNG, but he's definitely awesome at his job already! Full send, no cap. Pew pew.
Fantastic experience: The visit was overall good and the one staff who was there was very helpful!
Negative experience: If I could give a negative 10 I would. I bypassed a major department store to potentially make a purchase at this store. I entered Gamestop and usual greeting I'd get at every other location wasn't here. I extended the customary greeting and was met with silence. No thanks North Dakota, I'll spend my money in Texas.
Negative experience: I bought a apple gift card 2weeks back it’s not working
Fantastic experience: Got the kid a new game and it was on clearance very reasonable prices no matter what!
Negative experience: Made two purchases here. One went fine, the other they gave me the wrong game, then when I returned that, they gave me the right game but it was scratched so bad that it wouldn’t play. I’m a pro member, which gets you one $5 discount every month. When trying to return, they wouldn’t add back the discount coupon to my account. Since I couldn’t get the discount back, I went the route of having them send me a copy through the mail, but with this, they couldn’t even let me keep the OG case and refused to let me trade in a generic case if the mailed copy didn’t have an OG case. While going through the process, I heard the employees talking to each other saying they “wish they had consoles so they could test games.” It’s quite evident that this location does not have quality control nor good customer service. Left a real sour taste in my mouth that I pay for the pro membership and they can’t even see my point of view and can only see “store policy” which they said was “WWJD (what would Jenn do)”. Really disappointed as I have moved to Fargo from the twin cities and have always had good experiences in the cities. Guess they’re just Minnesota nice there ♂️ I’m definitely not renewing my membership that’s up this month now.
Fantastic experience: Talked to the manager today when I was looking for an action figure that was just released. Dude was super helpful and cool. He helped me get the collectable item I was looking for and was a pretty chill dude. I had a great experience and appreciate how chill he was too.
Negative experience: Over priced. Ridiculous place to buy used. Wonder how they stay in business.
Positive experience: Friendly employees but selection still pretty limited after the holidays
Negative experience: Terrible service, refuse to refund warranty I purchased with my headset due to the fact that “I’ve already had it for 7 days” that’s a joke. If I bought it at Best Buy they would’ve returned both. I should’ve bought the headset there to begin with. Don’t bother buying from here. Enjoy the $22 tip I guess.
Positive experience: Ok didn't find what we were looking for.
Positive experience: Reasonable prices and always the latest in the gaming community.
Fantastic experience: Clearance items are inexpensive
Negative experience: Walked in and the employee was on his phone the entire time, not good customer service at all. None of the people that walked in was acknowledged or even asked if we needed help with anything. There's a game stop in grand forks where I live but was hoping for a better experience in Fargo. I know work gets boring sometimes but leaning on the counter on your phone for almost 15 minutes is not OK
Negative experience: Went in to check out the poster or schedule of new games coming out for the next few months. See if there were any worth starting the pre order funds on. Told him the switch was my only console. He told me it was only Pokemon until the end of the year and he refused to show me any list. So if a game releases in January or February I wouldn't know. I was going to go look in person for the HP game coming out. I see people posting pictures of their switch version of the game. Dude was just rude and wanted nothing to do with me. In my 5 years in this town, only one girl has been nice and competent when I go. Extremely frustrating. Only go here if you NEED to.
Negative experience: Gavin couldn't process the return on the Xbox I bought yesterday that did not work. He then told us to try the other location I told him they don't open till noon he said they open at 11 (Google says 10) and after going over there and waiting till 11 sure enough they don't open till 12. Tried to do the return online and it says it doesn't recognize the order number that is in the email from them they confirmed my order was delivered. Apparently GameStop just scams people selling them junk they promise easy returns and now I'm two hours in to trying to return this garbage they sent me and their customer service isn't open until Monday. Very inconvenient and incompetent business.
Fantastic experience: Always nice staff
Positive experience: Got a couple xbox battery packs here and they where great but tge employees looked like they where needing a break.
Fantastic experience: It's a GameStop.
Fantastic experience: ❤️
Fantastic experience: Good prices decent selection of games
Fantastic experience: Great, upbeat, helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Great place for Dc comic character figures.
Positive experience: It's ok I guess.
Fantastic experience: Amazing service. Clean, stocked store
Fantastic experience: Very pleased with the fast service and knowledgeable staff. As they were able to answer my questions in a way I could understand.
Positive experience: Smaller store than I've visited in the past. An ok selection of items
Fantastic experience: The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable on games and are quick and reliable to give advice on good prices and interesting games.
Fantastic experience: Knowledgeable staff. Quick to assist.
Negative experience: Always hated how they sold u used stuff for full price. Only go here when you have too, it's never.
Positive experience: It's GameStop, you can buy games, paraphernalia, consoles, t-shirts, toys, and gift cards. OK selection of games however there are some slim pickings but maybe this is just due to supply line stuff. They honestly had a good selection of other merchandise to buy like t-shirts. I bought a copy of Madden, for only $8. The cashier seemed very knowledgeable about all kinds of subjects pertaining to headphones and such and other games. It's cool.
Negative experience: Rude, lazy staff.
Positive experience: Clean store. Staff tends to stay behind counter rather than being on floor. However, given the local COVID situation, I don't blame them.
Positive experience: Gates,games,games
Negative experience: It was very small and inventory was very limited.
Fantastic experience: I love this place!
Positive experience: Nothing my child had to have
Fantastic experience: People were super nice
Fantastic experience: Great variety of games and merch
Fantastic experience: The store has many wonderful games for the new systems, and there's nothing that needs any change in the store.
Negative experience: Please be careful. This GS is taking pro members 5$ promo and using it on "free" game warranties. While not telling you until the purchase is over and the game+receipt is in your hand.
Fantastic experience: Stonks
Positive experience: Didn't go I don't think it's even in the location I was at
Fantastic experience: Love the games and prices.
Negative experience: Yesterday when I went the mall was packed!! Food court back to back with almost every table full!! I couldn't wait to just get in, get what I wanted and get out! ONE PROBLEM with that being said -- my son called GAME STOP in the mall for a particular game for his cousin for Christmas and the guy said they had it in stock; however, guess what - CORRECT IT WASN'T, and his excuse was oh I thought it was a Playstation 3 that you wanted it for (mind you my son said XBox)-- are you kidding me?! So in reality I didnt even need to go here!!! And healing from surgery with complications i wasn't very happy as I was in pain!!! We need more variety for game stores -- I'd rather order on Amazon and wait a month to get something before I would ever visit this Game STOP again!!!
Negative experience: Not stoked on the service here. Every time I come in they are behind the counter and ignore me. I’ll walk around for a few minutes browsing and they won’t even acknowledge with a “hello”. Not like they are busy either, just standing behind the counter on their phone.
Negative experience: Not the most professional store I’ve been to
Fantastic experience: Great service
Positive experience: Nice little location
Fantastic experience: My boys loved shopping for games in this place. They have a huge selection of just about everything you can think of.
Positive experience: Good variety of new and used games. Friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Great selection of new and used games. Watch for sales and discounts. Prices on games are better even after conversion than the same games in Canada. Located in the mall and easy to find. Staff are helpful.
Fantastic experience: Helpful peaple
Negative experience: Bought a gift card from here turns out it didn’t work spent 10 bucks and never got it back
Negative experience: Recently in town staying at a motel nearby. I picked up a used game there and didn't check it over til I got home 3 days and 600 miles later (I trusted them to do that). Immediately upon opening the case I notice the game has such a deep scratch, a groove really, that it should never have been sold. It does play but poorly, I've got to pop it in 2-3 times for the disc to register and then it will randomly stop during game play. Very frustrating and a waste of $12. You can do better than this Gamestop, Amazon sure does.
Negative experience: Too expensive
Positive experience: Fun place for games, somewhat limited however in selection
Fantastic experience: The lady that helped me was so nice. She showed my son a stuffed charmander and made his birthday
Positive experience: Fun store but the prices are high.
Positive experience: Used prices keep getting higher - but good store otherwise.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff that don't make you feel dumb. All the latest games and accessories.
Fantastic experience: Always have great prices on used inventory. Plus full refund on used games if not satisfied.
Positive experience: Good
Fantastic experience: Grandson loves the franchise.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding and friendly. Not pushy at all!
Positive experience: Good selection of games
Positive experience: Love that they have a good selection
Fantastic experience: The guy was very helpful has amazing customer service
Fantastic experience: Went in to browse the selection and see how the new location looked. They moved a few doors down in the mall. The new store has a better location and a bigger selection. The staff was supper helpful and directed us to the games we wanted. They also helped with letting us know about releases that we had not known about and ordered a pre-order. We are anticipating the release of the pre-order and the release of the games we had not known of. We will be back here again!!!
Positive experience: Never disappointed always good customer service and the workers are great at their job enjoy doing business with them thank you
Fantastic experience: The staff are always able and willing to help me find any game I might be looking for. Great customer service and value.
Positive experience: Did not have the controller kit I was looking for, and a few of the prices on games they have are cheaper on my Microsoft store if I were to buy digital.
Fantastic experience: I love the games they sell great quality
Positive experience: Always a good time
Negative experience: Expensive and low pay for trade-ins. BUT the people are nice.
