Negative experience: I have been trying to call this store the entire day about a product. They never answer the phone.

Negative experience: The absolute worst GameStop of all time. Disrespectful managers and workers. Went for a drop and was the first in the allocated line and then other people who were able to get in later started a new line. Brought this up to the store and they didn’t care. They just made it a free for all.

Negative experience: I went inside the store to ask a question about a t shirt. Which I asked a manager and his reply was “Maybe it’s mixed up with the shirts. That still didn’t answer my question

Positive experience: Overall a well stocked store. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful team.

Negative experience: Somehow a corporation charges over market for TCGs. One piece OP11 boxes are $189…… and that’s just the start of the outrageous prices. Please if you are looking for TCG to support a local business and not overpay here. Honestly, local card shops not only beat these prices but have 1000% better customer service.

Negative experience: Think twice about shopping here. Good selection of games at basically fair prices, but they try to upsell you on a bunch of unnecessary stuff, such as warranties for game chips. They also made a really hard sell on a yearly membership, which we did not want. They made it sound like we were just signing up for a rewards program; only then did they mention the $25 membership fee.

Andrew Turnbull Posted on Google 11 months ago

Positive experience: Ended up with a membership to something that I had no idea about. Thought I was just getting an account like an MVP at Food Lion. Now I have to go back and cancel this darn thing otherwise it’s going to automatically renew. Don’t get the membership unless you know what it is and that you want it.

Negative experience: The ceiling is growing mold and falling down, and it smells like a gross basement.

CDM777 Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Went here yesterday to pick up some yugioh cards, the lady working said that what I was buying was bogo if I had a gamestop membership, she did not tell me it was $25, the bogo also did not work. I was still charged for EVERYTHING. I didn't save any money on the items I purchased. Went from being $90 to $120. Super frustrating experience and now I have to figure out how to come up with the lost money that I very much so needed.

EL Jefé Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Terrible. They open at 12 drive 30 mins to get here to read a sign “ left will be back in 15 mins”. HORRIBLE!!!never again!!

LJ Jinxx Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Jenny is the person for asked for when you need help extremely knowledgeable with all games and gaming accessories she's extremely Pleasant and sincere person.

Taylor Goodall Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: *WARNING* this game stop will add extended warranties/protection plans WITHOUT informing you before hand!!! CHECK if the game you’re purchasing is $5-$10 more at checkout, and make them remove it! Happened to me today; reported to better business bureau.

Negative experience: Went here with my son because he wanted a new keybosrd for his pc gaming..he seen one he liked and asked if he could see it as it was high above the counter 5 or so feet above our heads..was told by the employee thst customers arent allowed to look at the item as it is "high value".. it was 189 bucks lol i even told the employee i will hand them 200 dollars to look at it to see if it was compatible for his needs..anf was yet again told no...so not only can customers not look at items before buying them but employess are oblivious to specs or any idea if its compatible....jeez if 189 dollars is high value at least have a empty box customers csn look and read the specs on smh...horrible service...wonder how companies stay in business with this work ethic..do not shop here if u would like to look at a item before purchasing...

Chris Mussel Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Placed an order for in-store pick-up and received a confirmation email from GameStop stating item needs to be picked up within 7 days. Order is cancelled after 3 days because they are in the process of converting to a 3 day policy. If your website says one thing but then you are operating differently- that’s a huge discrepancy- people literally sue over false advertising and win these types of cases. You need to at minimum honor the 7 day until you update your policy. It would be as if I purchased something with a 30 day return policy online but then I go in-store and they say “no, it’s actually 7 days, we are in the process of updating, can’t accept the return”. People would be furious if a business operated like that. The customer associate was not as helpful as they usually are known to be, which was very disappointing. The associate did speak to their managers but returned with a computer automated response which offered no real viable solution. I was told to simply order again…I used my rewards points which do not get a refund even when you call customer service (a different issue). So now I’ve lost money shopping here. Such a disappointing experience.

Negative experience: Pushy and lied about the product

Christian Oakley Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: The customer service was awful and the cashier Jenny was really rude. The store smelled a bathroom. Definitely not shopping at this location again.

ryan vanwagner Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: The employees were wonderful. There doing there job to the best of there ability. Gamestop company is getting more horrible by the year. Found that they started some new return policies they started in October. Every year I think gamestop corporate is asking them selves what new ways we can rip off our customers and take advantage of them. Apparently there warranty exchange changes now so I bought a warranty for a controller last year looking to exchange. Now they will no longer exchange what I paid for, they swapped it for a old preowned controller not new like I originally purchased. Every year I believe now they just try finishing new ways to take advantage of there customers. Even there employees get it too, you know somethings wrong when the first thing that's said to you when you walk in a store is an apology. Gonna try not shopping gamestop anymore unless I have too.

Negative experience: I've been coming to this GameStop for probably a third of my life and I've generally had good experiences. My experience today with the store manager or store owner, I don't know who it was, but it was an older guy with longer hair, was deplorable. He embodied the stigma of why people don't want to go to GameStop because they get harassed about GameStop services and pre-ordering. Usually it's bad, but he was outright passive aggressive and was muttering curse words under his breath when I told him I was uninterested. Bear in mind I had already fully bought and pre-ordered my game about a month ago and was just picking it up today. I won't be back to this location or any GameStop , I'm just going to order my games on Amazon where I don't have to go through the passive aggressive upselling of third party services.

Fantastic experience: The young man who helped us on Monday morning was amazing! My son asked him to price a bunch of different Pokémon items and he was incredibly kind to do so! He never once acted annoyed or irritated. This was so refreshing from what we often experience in retail. He also shared with us the coupons that were on our account (without my asking!) And he gave my son a promo card. He was such a wonderful professional that I would drive back to Durham just to go to this Game Stop and give him the business. I want the owners to know they found a jewel in this employee!! Thank you for your amazing customer service!!

TAMMY Taylor Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: They do not sell computers or PC's. And also some of their employees get very very few hours.

Nicholas Bean Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Came in to ask about retro games and the lady working on 7/23 had an attitude and gave me a 7 day old list stating they don't make retro games anymore. The worker was highly un profressional

Jessie Guandique Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We came in to buy some Pokémon cards and jenny really made our visit amazing. She was so welcoming and had such an amazing vibe. Best customer service I’ve ever received! Thanks jenny, you are awesome! Ps she deserves a raise!

Negative experience: I remember ordering a Series X online for pickup and calling the store to make sure that I had everything needed to confirm my order when picking it up. The person on the phone stated that I just needed an ID when I came in to pick up. I said okay cool and that was that. When I came to pick up my order I showed them my ID but because my name on the account is different than what is on my ID, they said that I needed the confirmation number as well, which I didn't have readily available. So I had to go through my email just to find it and confirm my order. Could've just said to bring ID and confirmation number to be on the safe side as to not waste anyone's time. I remember when GameStop use to tell you about promos and if you wanted to upgrade to Pro membership. The associate who was there when I went to pick up my console did neither. He just rung me up and sent me on my way. The reason I mention this was because later on I checked my rewards account only for no points to be added from my purchase. When I talked to customer support (which even the customer support rep didn't even know at the time of me calling and had to ask his supervisor) GameStop stopped giving reward points if you do not have a Pro membership in early 2022. So if you have the regular PowerUp rewards membership, you do not get any rewards points for purchases until you upgrade to Pro. I wish the store associate would have at least told me that my membership ship expired because I missed out on a lot of points from that purchase. Also, this store location is so small it's damn near claustrophobic and their selection of games/inventory is absolutely miniscule. Like they are gearing for a shutdown. The GameStop in Apex on Beaver Creek is 10x better than this GameStop location.

Andrew Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I called the store at noon to ask if they had a game in stock. The associate said yes, it was in stock, and that he would put it on hold for me. I was initially happy because I wasn't able to come into the store until I got off of work at 7pm. I called again at 7pm that same day before going to pick it up and a different associate answered and told me they don't do holds and that my supposed "held" copy had already sold. Completely ridiculous experience. Associates should not be telling customers different things. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!

Molly Sloan Posted on Google 3 years ago

js crowe Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Well that was disappointing. And this is a review of Game Stop in general, not just of this store. Now that the PS5 is readily available, and my birthday is fast approaching, I decided to go about purchasing one. Easiest option is purchasing straight from Sony or another online seller, but since everyone is selling new units at the exact same price I thought I'd support local and buy from a retail shop. I went to a local Game Stop that showed the unbundled version in stock but of course they didn't have one but then they sent me here. Showed up, they had it, said great ring me up, and went through all the nonsense of registering me in the system to get to the ringing me up part where a 15 or 16 dollar subscription charge suddenly showed up. I stated I was not interested in a subscription but was told that the subscription was required for the privilege of purchasing the PS5 from them. I may be paraphrasing that last part a bit. I said no way, thank you I'll buy it from Best Buy across the street without any extra charges. And I did. I'd love to support the little guys but not when they pull things like this. And, to top it off, none of the stores in the greater triangle area even had the fairly new game I wanted in stock. Caveat emptor!

Negative experience: If I can rate a zero I’ll be more then happy too. The experience I had with this specific store was disappointing. The employees knowledge of games was “needs more training”. What happened to customer satisfaction? Mgr was unprofessional to solve the situation. I recommend for others to go to another GameStop you’ll be more pleased with your purchase.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars if I could. HORRIBLE customer service. Associates tell lies and then you can't get in touch with managers. Stay away from this location!!!

Phoebe Lux Posted on Google 5 years ago

Negative experience: Feel like the store is too small for all the people to be in there. Plus it needs to be at least 2 staff members in there. One to help the customers and one to ring up customers.

Tomas Strouhal Posted on Google 6 years ago

Negative experience: This was the only GameStop in a 30-mile radius that had the game system I wanted. I placed an online order to be picked up at the store. I drive 30 minutes to only find out that the system was “defective”! Why is this company selling online products that are available? Online buyers beware: Call the store to verify the product before even purchasing.

Fantastic experience: The Gamestop here was cool. The manger was very friendly and helpful and even gave me insight on others thing I may be interested in coming soon.

Positive experience: If not for the selection of collectibles I'd never step foot in a gamestop again. it's nice seeing the statues in person before buying them but prepare to be annoyed by constant sales pitches from employees. Not their fault it's how the business is run, and why it's dying

Positive experience: GameStop takes care of the majority of my gaming needs. And i was informed that i had enough points to get $10 off my purchase. The staff was friendly and helpful, too. They managed to convince me too buy a game i didn't even know i'd want.

Michael Parker Posted on Google 7 years ago

Positive experience: I was there looking for a different game for the switch they are nice and friendly

Oval Queen Posted on Google 7 years ago

Negative experience: I reserved/pre ordered a game which I tend to do often. I've learned that they sold my copy to another customer. I had to go to another store to find a copy. I am currently trying to recover the benefits that were supposed to come with the pre order. This is wrong and defeats the purpose of pre ordering with them..

Gary S. Cooper Posted on Google 7 years ago

Positive experience: This store is a typical gamestop, expect this location is small and cramped. It's best not to go inside when its crowded because you will likely be onto of others.

Jennifer Crowe Posted on Google 8 years ago

Fantastic experience: They always have or can get what I need. The workers are very knowledgeable.

Dylan Chavez Martinez Posted on Google 8 years ago

Negative experience: Walked in and inquired about trading in a device for in store credit. It was an IPhone. When I approached the clerk, and I refer to him as such cause all he was doing was clerking. He seemed to become annoyed. I explained to him what I wanted to do and informed him the device had a cracked screen. To which his immediate reply was “we not accept damaged devices”. Mind you I had already been to other GameStop locations and they told me otherwise. I understand that different locations have different policies. But the guy acted very indifferently towards me and almost seemed to act as if I didn’t know what I was talking about when I pressed for more information. The worst part is there were other associates there and neither of them tried to step in and give me a better explanation

Donivan B Posted on Google 8 years ago

Fantastic experience: Place rocks

Oliver Peckham Posted on Google 8 years ago

Positive experience: Glad to have a GameStop in this location. Apart from where it is, it's a pretty standard location -- unremarkable, but well-stocked.

Jessica Saar Posted on Google 8 years ago

Fantastic experience: This is an awesome gamestop. With an awesome selection and very friendly and helpful staff, that made my shopping experiences some of the best I have had. From help with picking the right game to questions about my account. 11/10, will absolutely be back.

E H Posted on Google 8 years ago

Negative experience: Maker sure if you call and ask if they have a game that you also ask if the physically can touch it. Drove to Southpoint to gwt game I was told they had in stock. Waited long to get to counter to be told they didnt have it. I explained that I called last night and the associate said if the employee didnt put their hand on it, it didnt mean anythi g because thwy are missing a lot of thi gs from the holidays. This is when District Leadership steps in and hires someone that can handle the operations of a mall store during the holidays and also trach employees what customer service is and show them what it looks like. Wont be back here.

Ophelia Rose de Papillon Posted on Google 8 years ago

Fantastic experience: It has what my husband wanted. He was pleased.

Ben Dungan Posted on Google 8 years ago

Negative experience: This store ripped me off $20. I purchased a refurbished controller with an extended warranty from them on Black Friday. I asked them twice what their refund policy was, they stated a full refund within 7 days with the receipt. When I took the controller home, it had a bad left trigger. On Sunday I returned the controller, receipt in hand, deciding to save to buy it new. Chris refused to refund me the $20 spent on the warranty, calling it “insurance”. I will never shop GameStop again with ridiculous policies like this and you shouldn’t either.

Carlo Criniti Posted on Google 8 years ago
