Negative experience: Went to this GameStop to Pre-Order a new Pokemon set. Marvin, who I now see has been mentioned several times across these Google Reviews, was friendly enough to help me submit the order. However, upon checking my receipt at home I discovered I had been enrolled in, and charged for, a GameStop Pro Account. When I called the store about this problem only one hour after my purchase Marvin answered and told me he had no memory of my transaction and told me any Pro Account issues would have to be submitted to Customer Service after 24 hours. He was very unprofessional and rude. I would give negative stars if I could.

Negative experience: My preodered game came out on Thursday. Went to pick it up on Saturday but they ALREADY SOLD IT. Lesson learned. Preoder from anywhere but Gamestop.

Negative experience: I happen to see online that this location had the new dragon ball fusion world set in stock. I proceed to call the store and speak to a nice lady who lets me know they had JUST received the packs and they were still available. I drive 15 minutes over to the store and speak to the manager there named Marvin. Marvin proceeds to tell me that they are sold out. I ask if that's true since I had called only a few minutes ago and was told they had stock just for him to admit to me that he bought out the rest of the stock himself. I came home and cancelled my membership instantly. Honestly wish they kept the location on South Rutherford open instead when the manager is beyond selfish and rude.

Fantastic experience: Love the specials . The staff is attentive and intelligent.

Negative experience: Worst Gamestop of all time. The manager is no help and his customer service is the worst. Save your money and go elsewhere. They offer no help on returns purchased only 8 days ago. I'll NEVER be back to Gamestop. Yall lost my 15 years of loyalty. Customer care doesn't help either. They just send me back to the store that won't help. This company will fail with this style of leadership. 3rd party "customer service", managers that are wanting to just say "no" instead offering assistance is just wrong.

Negative experience: First of all, I don’t know how this location hasn’t seen its reviews and fired Marvin. Probably the rudest retail worker I’ve seen. Stood outside on the switch 2 release from 10pm until 3 AM. Literally got to the door and Marvin said it was “too late to continue”. After letting everyone who came in the door play stupid launch games and fiddling around instead of just walking in, getting your switch and leaving. Don’t even try to buy Pokemon when he’s there. Even if you have a GameStop account he will lose his crap on you. Secondly, I hope GameStop as a whole closes, because they aren’t even RETAIL anymore. Charging $200 for a Charizard upc when retail is $140? Y’all have officially become the scalpers yourselves. Not to mention I had my Apple Watch “appraised” and they offered me… wait for it… $13. You read that right. 13 freaking dollars. The girl looked at me and was literally embarrassed to tell me the amount. I Sold it on Facebook for $100. Freaking crooks. We don’t need physical copies of games these days and if you do want a physical copy or literally any console etc. then just go to Amazon, target, Walmart, Best Buy etc. literally anywhere else but here. At least it will be retail prices and you won’t be supporting a terrible business.

Positive experience: Location doesn't offer trade in for your old console

Natalie S Posted on Google 4 months ago

Negative experience: I had a similar experience to many of the recent negative reviews for this location. The manager was overall rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. He sighed repeatedly and made comments suggesting the trade-in was already going to take at least an hour, despite trade-ins being a routine part of the store’s business. Although I arrived around 5:00, he acted as if the store was about to close. This is a business, and how customers are treated directly affects where they choose to spend their money. I took my items and left, and I will not be returning.

Aaron Perkins Posted on Google 6 months ago

Negative experience: Absolutely awful staff and store. Took them 20 minutes to realize I was at the counter waiting. I took over 9 games in to trade and the employee told me me total was $3.20 for all the games. Looks like they're still using the same short selling and lowball technique they got in trouble for. Nothing new or improved policy wise, do not come here if you wanna hear a stuttering record player named Marvin give stupid excuses.

Maricio Rodriguez III Posted on Google 6 months ago

Negative experience: Marvin greeted us asking "are you going to buy anything" and proceeded to insult us for browsing. I would take your business elsewhere.

Kira P Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: I had purchased a hoodie last week and it was unworn, clean, with original tags attached + receipt when brought it to the same location yesterday, and was denied the return. The store manager told me that clothing is unable to be returned to the sales floor, and that the system would not allow him to process any returns on clothing regardless of it fitting within the regular return period and policy. He also mentioned that this has been something in place since Covid. He did have his associate attempt to ring it into the system, but also told her to ring it in as an 'opened' item, so it was declined from the POS. I left it as is, as I wasn't going to push on company policy with store associates (as I understand unfair policies exist), but I noticed that my receipt had listed apparel returns when I returned home, and I had it confirmed with a call to customer service. They told me my best option would be to take it into another location to have it returned (as they were unsure why the store would decline it if it fit within the return criteria), which I did so today without any issues. Honestly, after reading all of the other reviews and the behavior I experienced yesterday, I don't think this location is worth it. I'd rather drive to the Franklin/Cool Springs location and spend more money on gas than deal with the mismanagement here.

Lancelot B Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: The employee was courteous & friendly, and way more interested in pushing the rewards program than making a sale. I waited for 7 minutes while she told the guy in front of me ALL about the program, and I left, without the action figure I wanted, when she began to enter the guy's info.

Courtney Patterson Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: Only giving one because I cant give zero. We traded in a game and were in the store for 11 minutes looking for what to trade for, when we were told "you have to leave, I have to close the store so I can go to the bathroom". Seriously?!

Kyle Bivens Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: Just another review for Marvin and his lack of customer service. We’ve been to this location a dozen times and the experience is always the same when he’s working. He’s rude and condescending. The other associates aren’t empowered to do anything without his help. And he does seem to have something against Pokemon fans. Which is interesting, given that it’s such a large part of why folks shop there. I’m only giving it two stars because the other people are so nice.

Jonathan Vera Posted on Google 8 months ago

Negative experience: As others have said, awful customer service from Marvin the manager. Came in with my girlfriend and for the first time in over a decade, I was ID’d for my gamestop account. They refused to give me my discount because the account is under my dad’s name, citing something about cameras watching if they ID people??? Not only that, but they then peddled the Switch 2 AND buying ANOTHER pro account for 25 dollars for like 20 straight minutes. It was like being at a used car dealership. Avoid this gamestop like the plague.

Jonny Ninow Posted on Google 8 months ago

Fantastic experience: Marvin and Ethan were awesome! GameStop was well maintained and was very happy with the customer service

S SV Posted on Google 8 months ago

Negative experience: This isn't the first time I've had issues at this specific GameStop, nor will it be the last, and today's experience has left me frustrated with the abysmal customer service and mismanaging of my purchases. A few months ago, I'd put in a preorder for a game I was looking forward to. Understand that this is a 75+$ game, and when I had placed that preorder I'd been promised that I'd be getting a steel book to go along with it (A promised collectors item for anyone who'd bothered ordering the game in advance), along with making sure that this game was for Xbox. Today's the day that my game was supposed to come out, and while I'm at work, I send my family member to go get this game so I can play it when I get home. Mind you, this was placed under her name and her account, and by all means there should not have been an issue with her picking it up considering it was all under her name. There was a single man working at the store when she was there, and according to her was just incredibly rude and uninviting. He's making this incredibly difficult for no reason, at first telling her that she can't pick it up because she wasn't me ((AGAIN, despite the fact that it was under her name and her account)), and then making her take out her ID to be able to get the game she paid for in the first place. This would have been a nothing issue, maybe just a bad day for this guy, if he didn't give my family member the wrong copy of the game. Instead of an Xbox version like was preordered, we were given a PS5 version. She tries to go back into the store, but the man working had already locked the door behind her ((Apparently to go on a lunch break, which is fine, but at that point there should be two people running the store?)). She contacts me, and obviously I'm a little upset because not only is it the wrong console version, but there's no steel book like was promised. So I call them, and explain the situation. The first time I called, I was hung up on, and the second time I called I got a man on the other line, the same one that's rude to my family member. I explain the situation, and while he wasn't polite about it he says we can switch it out. I make a note to ask about my steel book, considering it was a promised preorder item. And he tells me that they only got 2 steel books delivered to their store, and sold them on a first come first serve bases, so I should've gotten the game earlier. Meaning my preorder item, which was promised to me the day I put the game aside, was sold to someone who didn't bother ordering the game in advance because they were there before me. Which is asinine. While my game was switched out, this experience has just been more needlessly frustrating than it needs to be, and isn't the first time I've had difficulty with purchases at this store. While I can understand having a bad day, there's absolutely no reason to be treating people the way this man did, both to my family member in person and to me over the phone. And I can understand a mistake, but when it comes to a game that's almost 80$, the last thing you do is sell their preorder item to someone who didn't pre-order the game and THEN give them the wrong console edition to boot! If it's any help, the person that handles my game/receipt is named Marvin, and considering there was only one man there during that shift it narrows down the possibilities by a landslide. Literally would not be making this review at all if the man has a different attitude, but it's one thing to mishandle my product and then be a jerk about it afterwards.

Fantastic experience: Hello, do y’all receive Figurines in their boxes? Disney collectibles!

Jeremy St. Pierre Posted on Google 9 months ago

Negative experience: I went into the store this afternoon to purchase a new game. I asked the associate at the register that I wanted to use my $5.00 pro membership reward. After checking out, I discovered that the rewards wasn't applied. I went back to the store later in the evening to return it to my original payment and repurchase it with the reward applied to get the $5 difference returned to my credit card. Instead of doing this as requested, the cashier told me that is have 2 charges on my card until the return processes, which I said is fine. Versus doing what I asked they returned it, rerange it up as an exhange, and gave me a giftcard with the difference and completed the transaction. I didn't want to be rude despite this not being what was asked for and tried to use it on a digital giftcard I was planning on purchasing anyway and was immediately told I can't use a giftcard to purchase digital currency. In the end, I spent $5 more than I should have been charged and ended up with a gift card I didn't want because 2 different employees failed to listen twice in the same day.

Aubree Hinote Posted on Google 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: The manager Marvin was very kind and helpful and was able to help me find pokemon cards for my younger brother’s birthday when they were sold out everywhere else, thank you!

Positive experience: Decent selection, but I wish their return policy was better.

Dylan H Posted on Google 10 months ago

Negative experience: I’m just getting around to posting a review but I used to come here all the time, two to three times a week, however I refuse to step foot in this store again (and I haven’t) bc of the current store manager (Marvin) he is beyond rude and has the worst customer service

Angelo Estrada Posted on Google 10 months ago

Negative experience: I refuse to shop at this store due to one of the employees that works there I think his name is Marvin. (African American with glasses) Everytime I go he just looks at everyone with disgust and is rude to everyone that tries to ask him questions. He used to work at the GameStop in the opry mills mall and had the same problems with him there I would ask him for things then he would get an attitude saying “I’m not gonna get anything for you if your aren’t buying” He will ignore you unless you forcefully get his attention and will get annoyed if you look around to long in the store and not buy quick. All in the end GameStop fix your shit with this guy cause clearly most people in these reviews have the same problem!

Zoee Posted on Google 10 months ago

Fantastic experience: Becca was incredibly helpful on the phone. She searched the store for several minutes trying to locate the item I wanted. Sadly, it was not in stock, but she even looked in the back for me. It's really appreciate. Great service!

David Henderson Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: I stopped by to purchase a screen protector for my Switch Lite, after asking the Game Stop employee for assistance, I received the screen protector, only to find out later, that it was not the right size. When I tried to return the unused item, I was informed that I could not exchange the screen protector I purchased or receive a refund, since the box had been opened. Even though all unused pieces were inside the box, it just needed to be taped shut. Lesson learned, just buy what you need from Amazon

Fantastic experience: The guys had a difficult customer but hea dealt with is smoothly and then went on to help me eventhough they couldnt help me there he looked for a place that could definitely a great environment

Blake Russell Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: This place is withholding Nintendo Switch 2’s from people. Went in and asked if they had them in stock today. Me and my room mate wanted to buy one each. The guy said they had them in stock. I purchased mine and when my room mate went to purchase hers, he told her they only had one in stock. Well, she thought it was weird so 30 min later she called the store and the same guy answered and she asked anonymously if they had them in stock and he says yes. So he lied at the store to keep from selling her one. At 8:55 we called and asked again if they had them in stock. He said yes, so we said we were 4 min away and were on the way. we went back and arrived at 8:59 and they had the store closed. She called again and he wouldn’t open and said they are now closed and she would have to come back tomorrow. The store is supposed to open at 10am tomorrow and the guy says there’s a special Pokémon event happening tomorrow that’s special invite only so we now wouldn’t be able to come until 11am. So all the NS2’s will now be sold at the Pokémon event before we can get her a console. Unreal that people who are really trying to find a console are here to buy one and your ridiculous employees are with holding them from customers and lying to them. This place sucks. I see why there are so many bad reviews.

GILDARDO Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: Worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! Mangers rude ! Regular employees can’t help without their hand being held! DONT COME HERE they make you buy a membership on top of your items just the WORST!

Trixie Verchota Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Very cool employees, big building, super clean. Everything is prweasy to find.

Cam Hopkins Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Do not recommend GameStop for selling consoles. Still notorious for paying pennies on the dollar for high value systems. Went today to sell my ps5 Pro in immaculate condition. Their website lists the cash value at $315 for non-pro members. They offered $206 on a $700 retail system. Lost yet another potential customer. This is why digital is winning.

Snow Punkz Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: The cashier was nice and she assisted with getting a digital copy of subnautica when they didn't have a physical copy. She alo told use to go to IGN if there we're any issues. She also double checked to see if we could have a discount through pro she was really helpful. Would go again. It was the girl with short hair and blue eyes so you know who to talk to. (I saw some of the stuff involving the manager in the reviews but he was not there so I chat confirm or deny if they are true.)I didn't catch her name but I looked at the receipt I guess her name is Anisa but idk if it's her name or what.

Deontay Alexander Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: If you are an avid Pokémon Trading Card Game collector, can it be said that the store manager of this location holds a strong negative opinion of you? On the day that a new set was scheduled to be released, the manager arrived at the store and made a disparaging remark towards everyone present. Subsequently, he approached me and my girlfriend and asked us a single question, seemingly implying that my girlfriend was not in line to purchase the same product. Furthermore, he has been known to misrepresent the stock levels that the store is receiving. If you check the Finder app the day before the release, you will notice that the store has more than enough allocations. It is important to note that I am not the only individual who has complained about this manager’s behavior. Other coworkers at different locations have also received negative reviews due to his conduct. I strongly advise against interacting with this manager unless the girl with short hair is present, as he can be unpredictable and rude for no apparent reason. If you review the other reviews, you will find that many people have had similar experiences with him.

Ronda Lavon Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I drove 30 minutes to shop this store and to be there when they opened at 10 o'clock. When I arrived, there was a line and the employee came out and asked if I was there for Pokémon cards, I told him no I was here to look at games. he said I would have to wait until the Pokémon cards were done to come in. What an absolute joke. And when I called corporate no one answered the phone. I will never shop here again.

charlie benzy Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I’m not typically one to complain, but how do you have 1 register open when there’s a decent sized line, and 2 of the 3 people employed are focused on one thing: a game console fix or return.

Negative experience: Drove from Smyrna location for a specific game I was told they had at this location, they had the case but not the game, don't rely on their crappy inventory system they have no idea what they actually have and laugh in your face when you show any frustration.

Corey Moreno Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Went to this location to pick up the new Pokemon Prismatic Evolutions etb. The woman working the counter asked me if I frequent the store. I was honest and said I didn’t come much, I just drove over on my lunch break. She then told me they have stock but refused to sell it to me. Said they were trying to be “sporadic.” So, the store had stock that had not been preordered or otherwise purchased yet and I was turned away. Will not be going back. You’d think a sinking business would take all the money they could get and im not looking to resell. Just wanted a single etb.

Negative experience: I don’t know if they’ve just been having staff shortages or what, but the past two weeks I’ve tried to go and even though the signs on the door say the hours should be opened and online says so as well, they’ve had the shutters down and the place is locked.

Josh Ramsay Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I don't even want to shop at GameStop anymore. You go in there and they don't honor there prices, they don't have there systems updated to adjust prices or use tap cards. Really miss when GameStop was great. Make GameStop Great Again!

Becca Kim Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: Came here to buy a MTG collector pack for my husband. When I grabbed the box from the shelf, it was empty. I assumed it was just a display box and that I would be given the actual booster box at checkout. After paying for the booster, the box the cashier handed to me still seemed way too light, but I didn't question it and went back to my car. I wanted to double-check that the box wasn't actually empty before taking it all the way home, so I tried opening it to make sure. It was indeed completely empty, so I went right back inside and let the cashier know that she sold me an empty box. She let me swap it out with one that was *actually* full (I shook it and everything just to make sure). She was very nice and didn't make a fuss about it, but I do think she should have realized that the box was completely empty before letting me buy it.

Negative experience: Very unhappy with the service I have received. Been a customer for over 14 years and gamestop has went down hill

Jose Arias Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: For some reason trying on hats is bad in this store. Marvin (African American with glasses) had a problem with me touching the Mario hats they had for sale and asked me if I was buying it. Also for some reason they decided to use state ids to purchase games I’m clearly over the age of 18 and have a beard, but still had the audacity to say you can’t buy it. I’ve never had a problem with any other gamestops except this one. Gamestop should hire friendly workers and not people on a power trip that aren’t asking, “are you going to buy anything.” Avoid this GameStop and save your money.

Priscila Morales Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: The worker Marvin was very rude. We were questioned about a lot of the things we touched and the check out was an even more unpleasant encounter.

Negative experience: Order a game for this store delivery. Paid for it ($75) and the game is missing. Definitely will have a call with them in a few… Update: I will never order from GameStop ever again. Can’t even get CSR on the phone for a simple refund….Insane…

Sara Davis Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: My past two experiences have not been great. Who I am assuming is the “manager” there is not welcoming at all and very unfriendly. As soon as you walk through the door he is asking you “if you’re actually going to buy anything” if you even just start to browse. I saw another customer (who was already spending A LOT of money) ask to see HUNDREDS of dollars worth of merchandise that is hard to reach, and he huffed as you could tell he was visibly annoyed that he had to get the ladder out. He straight up asked the customer “are you actually going to buy these or just look at them?”. We returned yesterday & it was the same story. Immediately getting barked at asking if we are buying anything. When we asked about the preorder gift, he said they didn’t have it nor did he care. He acted like we were dumb for even asking. We will drive across town over to Rutherford for now on. Based on ALL of the other reviews here, I am not alone. I hope this guy can find some serious help, because he is clearly angry and takes it out on anyone who walks through the door.

Michael McBride Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: The one employee is so unpleasant. Just go across town if he is there.

Kyra Wheeler Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Avoid this location if at all possible. Whoever the new manager is, is bent on making all customers who walk in the door- as miserable as he is. We love to bring our well behaved children there and look at the fun items. We spend money there regularly. But these last two times we went and this man was there he was so extremely rude. 1st experience was when my husband went to trade in his xbox, this man loudly huffed and puffed and said to the poor girl working - this returns for you, very rude and wouldn't help her at all. 2nd time- today, we went to exchange a controller and he lied straight to my husbands face, that they dont accept returns at all. "As soon as you take it out of the store, it cannot be brought back", were his words. This goes against GameStops return policy and we are so upset! We love to go there but will not while this man is there. They also blocked the demo games off, with a table so kids are not allowed to play them. Save yourself the trip and go to another location, seriously. We don't leave reviews, but this was so very upsetting.

Heriberto Perez Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Store clerk it's rude to the clients try to trick you by charging you your stuff putting it behind the register and the three new part of it and if you don't ask for it he will keep it and sell it back also if you buy a new controller you will have 15 days if it comes defected guy in the register will tell you you cannot so do not be fooled it's their policy

Faern Grey Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Gamestop is slowly becoming somewhere you can't actually buy games. Absolutely abysmal selection of games in comparison to the overload of things like pop figures and t-shirts. I'd suggest game trader if you are actually looking for video games.

Vinh Huỳnh Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: I would call this CollectibleStop than a GameStop since 80% of the store are collectibles.

kevin bates Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Whoever closed the store on 5/15/2024 is one of the rudest, most unprofessional employees. He refused to sell me a game rated M and I’m 24. Then once he decided he would sell it to me he tells me tap to pay doesn’t work which is fine. I leave and go get a gift card to pay with. He then tells me he’s not gonna sell to me because he turned the computers off and the store didn’t even close for another 10 minutes what could have been a 2 minute transaction turned into a 20 minute ordeal with no success. If you close at 8 and it’s 7:50 you still have to serve customers. I hope someone deals with him.

Negative experience: Gamestop will sell without regard stolen property and tell you that you are out of luck when you come in with proof and a description of the pet sitter that stole from you. i even tried to buy the games back just for how much the person got for them and the manager cut me off with a “no”, but then in the same breath said he can’t hold the games for however long it takes to get resolved. the person only got a couple of dollars for the games and they aren’t new or worth much, but they were sentimental and gifted to me as well as the few games i kept that i liked. avoid and shop locally or order online.

Nick Geraci Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: If I could give this 0 stars I would. All the other gamestops in the area are extremely more friendly and more professional. I was shamed for putting in an online order and coming in three hours after I placed it and being told "not to come back until the email has been sent". I then retuned six hours later asking for the playstation 5 (that mind you I already paid for) and was given extreme attitude about how I bought my playstation wrong and to come in the store and do it next time.....0/10 experience

Collin Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: It’s an alright store. It’s definitely seen better days but my main complaint is I called to place a preorder for spider-man 2 and was met with a rude employee that belittled me and acted as if I had no clue what a midnight release was. It’s sad that a customer asks a question over the phone and the employee just talks down to you. It’s safe to say I’m just gonna buy my games digitally from now on.

Fantastic experience: Always a delight to find a well informed techy behind the wheel of Gamestop. Plus they sell PC Parts and accessories here so that was a great find!

Positive experience: Brandon was incredibly helpful and informative. We are now a part of the power up rewards program because of the information provided by Brandon. Only thing keeping it from a 5 star review was that air condition. It was very hot in there. But Brandon did a good job making us comfortable with the fan he had in there.

Negative experience: My MIL was having medical emergency and all of their employees were just staring out the door while my husband is just trying to get help from them because "they weren't open yet".

Gary Brown Posted on Google 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: My daughter wanted to stop and look at anime items. They had some she liked. And lots of games.

Key Key Posted on Google 5 years ago

Negative experience: Not all workers, but there is an incompetent staff member at the murfreesboro location near mall that lied about products being available. Caused inconvenience, time, and gas wasted lying about available products. Employee should be fired especially with it being around the holiday and doing this to several customers.
