GameStop: Reviews
Negative experience: the products have always been good, i cannot complain about that. The costumer service was horrible: My sister and i wanted to get a new game, tomodachi life.We don’t really do hardcore games, we do animal crossing, “the cozy games”. those type of games. the AUDACITY of this worker to judge us for even wanting to get this game. he criticized us just off of what game we even wanted. Is that good costumer service? i don’t think so. Absolutely not. Overall gamestop has always been amazing, this specific worker at the salem center gamestop, is not. be wary.
Negative experience: even though you did your best to try to ruin our day today, you didn’t ruin our day Horrible employee at the downtown store. We drove across town to Lancaster and we could not stop laughing with the manager in that store. We bought more items and our faith and humanity was restored, but you are one piece of work to not care about the business that you work for and how you represented is shameful behavior and even after you were prompted by security and the mall management to just make a transaction happen and be reasonable you would not do it. You refuse to call your manager and you behaved badly. Your behavior is a reflection on you and your inability to control yourself has nothing to do with me and my daughter, who was just trying to buy a toy and exchange a toy.
Negative experience: If I could give it a 0 instead of a one I would. This store and who ever runs the one in Keizer station to the manager who employees protect for who knows what reason not wanting to give he’s name out maybe because they feel intimidated by him you are wrong !! The manager needs to be seen more into the fact that he won’t give he’s name or know one knows who he is it’s creepy . Specially when there is a major problem that needs addressing. He refuses to give his name . We will get to the bottom of this for sure and once he is force to say who he is they fire him for not once but multiple times of not running the place correctly and keeping customers things that they bough on hold and hides wen someone needs to talk to him lies about dates as well as the employees backing him up.
Negative experience: This has got to be the unhappiest looking group of people I have ever witnessed in retail. And I’ve witnessed a lot. Also the place is just too damn expensive.
Fantastic experience: Big Shout out to Kenneth, he is super knowledgeable and for being the only in the store he managed all the customers very well. Also very helpful with new membership and ways to save on games
Negative experience: Frumpy shift manager with the unkempt hair doesn't seem to understand how to interact with people; I came in because I thought they had an item (said in stock online) and they didn't, which is fine. Happens all the time. The issue is when you speak to a customer in a condescending tone after asking them to relay the experience you had online trying to purchase the item. Say you don't have it, offer alternatives, move on. It's no wonder someone tried to rob this place.
Fantastic experience: Friendly knowledgeable staff
Negative experience: The man dressed like a woman behind the counter was rude and short. Was in there on the afternoon of December 23 with our mentally handicapped son. He wanted to purchase a case for a controller that was in a box on the north side of the store below the used games. The price sticker on it was $27.99, so we decided to buy it. We went to the counter to make the purchase and this person ripped the price label off and through it in the garbage and rang it up at $34.99. I said to him, what are you doing? This person responded by saying that’s not the price, and if you don’t want to buy it, you can put it back. At that moment, I was very surprised to be treated so poorly, and with my son, there was really no putting back, so we paid the $34.99 and walked out. As a business owner, we would never treat a customer that way, never! My opinion is this person, has some real problems and feels some sort of authority in the position that allows the right to treat people poorly. A very poor customer service experience to say the least, but maybe is acceptable to game stops management.
Negative experience: I caught a gift card for Christmas and tried to put the code in my account immediately before leaving the store. The card was not able to be read. The rep that sold me the card less than 5minutes earlier was unable or unwilling to do anything. This company will steal from you, go anywhere else.
Positive experience: Employees are always super nice, but it’s unfortunate that GameStop management is pushing for warranties, subscription memberships, and add-on costs at the register after customers say no multiple times. It makes the line move super slow while they get through their speech (which they try to sell to you multiple times) and it just makes people uncomfortable. I just want to buy my game and leave, if I wanted to add a protection plan, I would. With only one employee working, who have to answer the phone, check people out, and run to the back and grab stuff, the upselling is just annoying.
Negative experience: Sadly I have to do this .. Johnathan your behavior is rude and disgusting, you need to remove yourself from this store as you’re giving customers bad service and bad experience at this store. This review is to inform management of how you treat customers when management is not around how you are angry and frustrated when customers ask you anything or when they are ready to pay you are the worst experience I’ve had at any GameStop. Your vibe made me want to leave without buying anything sadly.
Positive experience: I normally have a solid experience here but one of the workers here has been extremely rude to me whenever I have shopped there.
Negative experience: Customer service has become quite lacking. The employee ignored not just me but at least two other customers who walked in and stood at the counter. Will not be coming back. Devonshire is far superior.
Negative experience: Was out of stock of the pokemon event codes because they were giving away more than one per customer. Person a few spots infornt of me got a couple. When I got to the front they were out....wasn't even noon yet. Called the other salem stores and they were out as well. Nintendo messed up not making this an in game event sure, but gamestop did not help the situation.
Negative experience: It’s been 15 days since my pre order should have came out and everytime I call they just tell me it’s in the back of the store and they haven’t gotten to it yet it’s just lazy and poor customer service I just want my pre order lol
Fantastic experience: Worst experience I’ve ever had at a GameStop, one employee lied about his name, treated me like an idiot after quizzing me on what he stated were “obvious facts” and proceeded to call me a “Bozo” and a “Doofus”, the power tripping chica stocking the shelves as I asked about Switch 2 is an entirely different story, 1/10 experience.
Fantastic experience: I came in to buy an Xbox, and Jeff sold me a nice one for a good price. Unfortunately it had a technical issue - HDMI output didn't work - so I brought it right back. Jeff tested it right there at the counter, confirmed it was "toasted," and quickly supplied me with a replacement, even though he was the only one behind the counter and there were other customers. Give that guy a raise!
Fantastic experience: Git my money back in returns.
Positive experience: One of the best places to get the games you need
Negative experience: Got a call they had my psa graded cards after 10 weeks and when I went to pick up I could not get them due to tablet being in use. Maybe dont call people to pick up if your in a 2 hour meeting and cant help customers. Very disappointed gamestop keeps finding ways to screw things up
Fantastic experience: Love this location and the selection they have. Even though people be busting down on gamestop I still go there because they havent let me down. It all come down to how you treat them and how they treat you.
Fantastic experience: Awesome staff!
Positive experience: Small store, but the staff is very helpful.
Negative experience: Be careful buying pokemon products from Gamestop. I bought a destined rivals booster bundle from this location that I thought was sealed and when I got home to open it, it only had five packs in it when a booster bundle is supposed to have six. When I called to get the issue resolved they said I had to go through the pokemon company and there was nothing they could do. I really expected better especially with how hard pokemon cards are to come by right now.
Negative experience: Treated like an attempted scalper while buying my son the switch 2 for his bday by some power tripping chica there completely misreading the situation while I was asking an apparent trainee if it was in stock. Interjecting “Hey.. you don’t tell them how many we have. It’s a limit of 1 per customer and it’s NONE OF HIS BUSINESS how many we have.” After all I asked was if they had one. Then the other dude that checked me out got irritated and made it clear so after I didn’t want a memory card with it. Treated me like a pos for that while dropping 1/2 a grand. Never going to that one again! I see in reviews though, this is nothing new. Must be the caliber they want on the floor in Salem.
Fantastic experience: Peak rizz ohio
Negative experience: I was in line for the new set of Pokémon Cards and me and and my son couldn't get any because the owner from the Shoe store in the mall let all his friends in the mall before opening and got in line before we did. He pays.for.his.friends. to buy him boxes of Pokemon cards because there is a LIMIT OF 1 PER PERSON. He then turns around to SELL the "Scalped" Boxes of Cards at HIS STORE for double the price! I know these are just "Pokemon Cards" but it can be the same thing like with a Playstation or an Xbox on release day. Imagine waiting in line for HOURS and finding out that the store is letting this thing slide and they see it... Its not okay, the staff should pay attention and make rules like Target on Center does so everyone can get something they have been excited for.
Negative experience: I bought a broken controller
Positive experience: Its alright marvel legend's selection is shotty at best
Negative experience: I sent my cards off to grade with their new PSA grading service they advertise. I did this on November 17th, and the cards are still sitting at the store. They will not give me my money or my cards back. I suggest you think twice and directly grade with PSA instead of GameStop and not waste your money on a bogus subscription when they won't even ship your cards out, give your cards back, or give you your money back. Scam.
Negative experience: I called all three store to get a quote for my ps5 and ALL THREE gave me different prices. What is up with that?
Fantastic experience: The staff members are very respectful, friendly, and helpful.
Positive experience: Coming here would be more enjoyable if it didn't feel like I was bothering the employees, idk what I'm doing but just by their body language they obviously don't want much to do with me or anyone, guess it's my fault for expecting them to act a bit nicer but it's whatever
Positive experience: Gast and helpful but just not a good place to be outside
Positive experience: Good deal on games
Negative experience: Very disappointed with gamestop when people sell gamestop ps4s ps5s and other consoles they buy them for less than what it's worth a li.ited edition ww2 ps4 1tb which I own I bought it brand new 6 months ago from a private seller who forgot about buying it and I bought it for $300 with the ww2 game as a bundle and I call gamestop to ask how much if I sold it how much they would give me for it and they said $35.00 and online they sell it for$199.99 I asked them why are they selling it online for alot more the excuse is the company has to make profit all this time I've been ripped off definitely going to be think twice about selling anymore consoles to gamestop I definitely feel that I was ripped off being someone with a learning disability and autism doesn't make it easier
Negative experience: It was a emotional roller coaster ride because I was trying to find animal crossing but a worker accidentally hit my head and I passed out on the floor and broke my leg and arm and back and ever bone in my body because I fell into glass but I’m just crippled now and can’t speak but I can hear and see and use my hands to do things
Negative experience: Went in today February 14th approximately 3:30pm to purchase a pokemon paldaen fates etb for my niece who is an avid collector. Since there were two listed as available online I figured I would have a good shot at securing the purchase. However, when I got to the store the employee acted as if they were out of stock, proceeded to tell them that the one they do have available in the back was set aside for someone else. Then tried to sell me the opened box display for $50. Full price. when I explained that I wasn't paying full price for an opened product they acted offended as if I somehow wasted their time and said it's literally the same thing, I don't understand the problem. What a god damn joke.
Positive experience: Getting smaller amounts of apparel and other items besides gaming items. But still our favorite in store place for game gear!
Negative experience: I bought a nintendo switch game preowned, i was never offered a warranty, when I got home, it was defective. I came in the following day for a refund, and only am being refunded 27 99, rather than the 47.99 i paid for it. I called, asking whu this is, only to be spoken down to like I was the idiot who messed up the game. They are rude, and I will NEVER buy from them again, you shouldnt either. This store needs to be shut down.
Negative experience: Do not purchase games from any Gamestop location or their website. I preordered a game over a month in advance only to be told they dont have the game in stock when release day comes around. They also did not refund me the 70$ i spent on said game. DO NOT Shop at gamestop!!!
Positive experience: We went there to buy a game since 2018
Positive experience: I haven't been in a little while. But after going to this location off and on for 5 years or so, I'd say it's a safe bet for a good experience.
Fantastic experience: Digging the $5 tees sale!!
Fantastic experience: Great staff, answered all my questions and gave me the best deals for my money.
Fantastic experience: Quick and easy transaction loved it
Negative experience: If you are going to close early just close early there is no need to put a fake sign on the door and try to lie to customers saying you are going to be back in 45 minutes when you know you close in 60 smh
Negative experience: Customer service needs major help
Negative experience: My husband and I have been shopping at this location for the last 4 years and as of todau we will no longer be shopping here, due to one of their employees. I have never been treated as badly as i was today. I was told that i needed to grow up and start acting like an adult and acting my age, i was laught at for asking a question, i was belittled. And no employee should ever talk to customers like this.
Positive experience: Friendly staff and decent selection of games and merch.
Fantastic experience: Game stop is a awesome place
Negative experience: The worst Gamestop I have ever been to! Prepare to be swindled for all they can squeeze out of you. Very rude runaround given only a day after I bought a Nintendo Switch and TotK with 180 cash and 154.30 credit from a traded in ps4 slim 2 dualshock controllers, CTR, Spiderman, Last of Us remastered, witcher wild hunt complete, mlb the show 22 and Spyro Reignited(which doesn't even show up on the receipt so I guess I never got credit there either). Only got 95.69 cash back and 154.30 store credit. Couldn't get back any of my traded items without markup, not even 24 hours later. I feel violated.
Negative experience: Cashier with glasses and black hair made me wait 1 min for him to finish texting behind the counter while I was at the cash register with my stuff to check out, poor customer service to have a customer wait and not acknowledge them, as I also work in retail and would never do that
Negative experience: I am so disappointed with Game stop. My son had been saving up for a specific switch game that he saw at game stop. When he had the Money we went to purchase it. The sticker price was $24.99 and when we went to ring out he was charging me $39.99 for it. I stopped the transaction cause that was clearly not the price that was listed on the game. They absolutely refused to honor their listed price saying it was because he had not gotten around to updating the price and would only sell it to me for the unlisted and unmarked increased price. I had a very disappointed 7 year old leaving the store. Will definitely not be doing business at this store again. Luckily we were able to purchase the game elsewhere for the price it was listed at game stop.
Fantastic experience: Helpful and nice.... thank you
Fantastic experience: Very helpful an knowledgeable
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and an ever expanding selection of not just games and gaming accessories, but many types of nerdy paraphernalia.
Fantastic experience: Nothing but good interactions with this store, they’re fair and very the man Jacob is good people
Fantastic experience: I love that they have so many games
Fantastic experience: I'll be honest, I am a BIT biased because my girlfriend works here, but I still like to give an honest review. This is probably one of the best Gamestops in the whole city. They've got a really good selection -- games, controllers, clothes, accessories, you name it. They've always got SOME kind of sale going on, especially now around holiday season. The people who work here legitimately work really hard to keep things running smoothly. The store is always clean, organized, and easy to find whatever you need. If you don't already have PRO, seriously, get it. It's $15/year to get $5 off something every single month. I come in here every month just to use my coupon. It's a great deal, even if you aren't an avid gamer.
Positive experience: Went in there once to get some games. The employees were informative and definitely helpful when it came do deciding which purchases to make.
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed the service they provided and it sucks they got rid of this location.
Fantastic experience: Did some shopping and got a GREAT deal! They not only price matched but I must have had some points because they took more money off.
Fantastic experience: Good game store.
Negative experience: Went in Tuesday for a Pokemon digital code distribution. They had zero to give away that was fine. However the person behind the counter decided to lie to me to try and get me to pre order the new Pokemon games coming out in November. Told me they were getting a flying Pikachu as a pre-order bonus. This is flat wrong anyone that plays the game within x amount of time gets one. Don't shop here unless you like being lied to .
Fantastic experience: had a great experience here, came in just to browse, spoke to the store manager he was the only one working, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. They had an amazing offer with their yearly subscription service, ends up being a fantastic deal. Will absolutely be back in highly recommend this location. *Update* Had an issue with a controller on my new PS5 and they swapped it out super easy, even did a trade in and it was a great experience. Thank you Jacob & quinn
Positive experience: Way better then that crazy store! Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: I came with my foster provider it was fun coming and buying games for the switch
Positive experience: Smaller area which means smaller stock whenever big ticket consoles come out. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Always love it here the employees are awesome to talk too
Positive experience: Awesome Place, but don't always have what yah need
Fantastic experience: Got good deals
Fantastic experience: Great place but there selection at the Salem center location is not too good at all. Still recommend though
Positive experience: Have a lot of stuff but aren't the best people, people ya know
Negative experience: Do not look for customer service when attending this GameStop because you will not receive any.
Fantastic experience: Picked up order great service
Negative experience: Guy with long hair is rude
Negative experience: I have loved GameStop for years. But today I went to this store to buy a a new console. I was quickly approached and told that I MUST WEAR A MASK before I could enter! Mask mandates have been gone for weeks. I will NEVER shop here again. I refuse to support a business who is sharing in the "fear game" with covid!
Fantastic experience: The manager was so very helpful and a joy to work with finding what I needed!
Fantastic experience: Staff are very good to me and I find awesome deals here.
Fantastic experience: Amazing help from alexandrea she was able to give me the best help and able to give me a tracking number as well. I will always come here for my gaming needs
Positive experience: Good to find the games I need
Positive experience: Everything is just as expensive as anywhere else. I felt bamboozled because I myself am not a gamer but my mini is. They tried to up sell me on everything. I think I had to listen to 6 different shpeels trying to check out. I guess they were helpful if you wanna walk out of the store with two extra bags full of stuff you didn't know you needed.
Fantastic experience: Great staff. Terrific deals
Positive experience: Nothing spectacular about it, just another store within the mall. It's a small store with an equally small selection. Just another Gamestop in town. Nothing special, but average at best. The staff seems friendly, and the inside is fairly clean. No outstanding customer service, but fair for Gamestop standards. Their staff is fairly knowledgeable in regards to gaming systems, but do need keep up to date on their newest releases knowledge.
Negative experience: Theirs this guy was taking so long he was wearing a green polo with long hair he was holding off the line so much that he was on the phone instead of helping the eagered customers :( bad experience ive ever had and that happened today
Fantastic experience: Good staff
Positive experience: All the O G STUFF was high price... IF... I wanted to keep mine... It would have Cost me that for at least 3 decades of Storage
Fantastic experience: Still a great place to go and buy new or used games and accessories. The guy who helped us was very patient and friendly. Thanks for all your help.
Fantastic experience: Jacob! You are amazing! Thank you for answering my numerous questions about the switch!
Positive experience: Good deals on games
Fantastic experience: Gamestop is a good place for all your video game needs.
Positive experience: Just your Average Game Stop, Slow Service because located in the mall but great employees always!
Fantastic experience: Great staff, always a good time when I go here
Positive experience: Not a bad store
Fantastic experience: Grandson seems to enjoy going there .
Fantastic experience: Bee is the greatest! She helped me figure out why my switch joy cons were drifting, helped me get a replacement pair, and also help with my pre orders! Great customer service every time, and she always gives you a few options to choose from to make your experience the best it can be. Thanks girl, you rock!!❤❤
Negative experience: Asking me if I'm disabled or if i can use the number from my " parent or guardian " was incredibly rude and disrespectful, Considering im a thirty year old college graduate. I actually attended high-school with this individual..he approached me on a first name bases before I even saw him so he clearly knows who I am, anyway we hit a wall and he was refusing to do business with me because I wouldn't indulge personal details for him, unprofessional.
Fantastic experience: Great “stop” for if you need anything gaming related! Staff has never failed too satisfy my needs. 5/5 stars would recommend if you need a game/console/trade-in/article of clothing (they freaking have it all)
Negative experience: DO NOT ORDER ONLINE FROM THEM!!! They will take your money but won't give you the product.
