GameStop: Reviews
Negative experience: Triggered/unhinged employee and manager aka Monique the employee was a younger person early mid 20s with curly long black hair. None of them had name tags on. I only got the manager‘s name after calling the corporate office. I was assaulted by an employee in front of the manager today 5/12/26 at 430pm all because I said I did not want a warranty unless GameStop buys eBay it was a joke Then the manager started yelling at me I stood up for myself after her and her employee were extremely unprofessional and aggressive. She escalated the situation and started screaming at me while her employee was bumping me in my chest invading my personal space I didn’t move the entire time I was in the store while they were assaulting me verbally and physically until the manager threatened to call 911 and start calling 911. All of this in front of my four year-old daughter and pregnant partner all we were trying to do was buy a Wii! I recorded the entire incident don’t give this place you’re money they don’t care about the community or kids
Negative experience: Store was closed at 7 pm and waited until 7:35 when they said they would be back open and never opened back up. You just lost like 10 customers due to being closed.
Negative experience: Been going game stop 25 years + ozzy has the worst customer service
Negative experience: Horrible customer service from Ozzy. Clearly doesn't care about young kids in the store speaking vulgarity left and right. You can tell he has gotten comfortable with this type of behavior and it shows. He got upset because I declided he's disgusting and sneaky way of trying to get things for free. You can clearly see he got in his feelings when I told him NO and I still had my pokemon games from the past and for some reason he started talking about Christianity and how his parents did him wrong and how I shouldn't be selling my games. Sir grow a pair and learn how treat your customers, remember we are the reason you still have a job. 0/0 stars
Negative experience: WILL SELL YOUR PREORDER AND NOT APOLOGIZE, DISTRICT MANAGER SHOULD BE ASHAMED Special shout-out to Preston and the GM of this location This was my favorite GameStop, great service great stock, and I considered it worth the 35min drive to get there. When I pre-ordered Pokopia on top of a purchase, I was told by Preston (POS#744074) "Yeah I'll put a note in here that you won't be in-state to pick it up until the following week. Just remind them when they call you." it seemed like really good service. (This was 2/12/27) Too bad for me though, because this store has been shuffling employees with the downtown location and had no working phones for weeks, meaning no phone call ever came. Specifically I was preordering this game because I managed a store for a long long time, and I know your stock will rely on what/how much you sell. Originally I just wanted to see if I COULD order under my circumstances. If Preston the employee had not ASSURED me that they'd hold it, I would have just ordered it on Amazon. Receiving no call, I began to ring the store when I drove over the Oregon border (3/15/26) to say I could literally come get it right now. Tried calling for the six hours it took to get home, eventually turning to the downtown workers, who said everyone was having line issues. Would it have been easy to just come out to the shop? Sure, except I have a really painful spinal condition and the patch I wear to mitigate that pain makes it hard to just pop in somewhere hoping to see a manager. My mom who is RETIRED made the drive and upon return she said "There was a really nice girl working, she looked really put together, but she said they had no copies". No copies = Preorder sold For me, though, the best part was when the manager was on speaker phone when he ARGUED with me like I was his girlfriend instead of a customer who was disappointed. He told me it was my fault and never apologized. This manager also said he could not cancel my Pro Membership, that I "need to call someone" for that, but never given that information. It was really cool to have other people hear the conversation, and to cry a little in front of the girl working when getting my refund. As a mid-30s who had to medically retire, my money is limited, so I think I'll just shop online from now on.
Negative experience: I go their all the time and spend money constantly They have seem to got a new manager ozzy Who picks and chooses who he dose his shady deals with and use his manager discount code for coustmers items or tells them on his payday he would give them 20 bucks for their item But I wouldn't of cared about any of that went to trade a gameboy sp in to pay off a pre order and he told me it was in horrible condition and wouldn't be able to help and I should go to gamestop So I smiled asked to cancel my pre order took my gameboy to another gamestop and they said it was in great condition and got me what I needed
Negative experience: The young man working today 2/21/26 with brown curly hair. Was rude to my elderly mother. Who was coming to get a present for her grandson. How dare you talk to her like that. And if ur at lunch lock the door. You dont need to be rude to anyone. Let alone an elderly lady looking for a birthday present for her grandson. You should be ashamed of your self. NONE OF FAMILY WILL SHOP HERE AGAIN.
Fantastic experience: Staff friendly and provided information needed clearly enough for our 9 year old. The store is a good size and does not feel crowded, could hold a lot more stock but the selection was good.
Fantastic experience: I had a genuinely great experience at my local GameStop recently, and I feel like good customer service deserves to be recognized. I went in expecting a quick stop to browse, but the staff ended up being the highlight of the visit. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted right away without feeling pressured. The associate asked what I was looking for and actually listened instead of trying to upsell something random. I brought in a stack of games to trade, and the process was smooth and transparent from start to finish. They scanned everything right in front of me, explained the trade-in values clearly, and I ended up getting quite a bit more back than I expected. It actually added up to a solid amount of store credit, which I was able to use toward a new headset for my son’s PS4. Being able to turn old games that were just sitting around into something he genuinely wanted and will use every day felt like a win. What stood out most was how knowledgeable and honest the staff were. I had questions about different headset options, durability, and sound quality, and they broke down the differences without pushing the most expensive one. They explained what would realistically hold up best and what made sense for a PS4 setup. That kind of transparency builds trust. The store itself was clean, organized, and easy to browse. Pre-owned games were clearly labeled, accessories were stocked neatly, and everything felt straightforward. Checkout was quick, and they explained the return policy and protection plans clearly without being overly pushy. Overall, this visit reminded me why physical gaming stores still matter. Being able to trade in games, get fair value, ask questions in real time, and walk out with exactly what you need makes a big difference. I left feeling confident about my purchase and appreciated the positive experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back.
Negative experience: I usually don’t go out of my way to leave reviews, but if I could give this location a zero, I would. I just left the store with my sons after an extremely disappointing experience. We did purchase the game, but declined the additional sales pitch. After that, the employee we dealt with, Ozzy, became visibly frustrated and his demeanor shifted. Despite completing the purchase, he displayed a condescending attitude and an aggressive tone that was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. When he went to retrieve the game, I could hear him whispering and speaking negatively, which was uncomfortable especially in front of my children. No customer should feel talked down to or disrespected simply for declining an upsell. I say this as someone who has worked in retail and previously worked at a GameStop location inside the Lancaster Mall, where professionalism and customer respect were expected regardless of whether a customer accepted a sales pitch. This experience fell far below that standard. Management needs to seriously address customer service expectations at this location.
Fantastic experience: Needed to do some trade-in’s last night and had a quick and easy experience! Thanks Kail!
Negative experience: They refused to take back a present I bought for Christmas that didn't work. I admit I didn't keep my receipt because I didn't realize they would sell products that don't work.I could show them my account with the transaction and they still refused.
Fantastic experience: It was amazing I got pokoman cards.my son is going to be so excited. They also sent me to Lancaster drive store to get his game score
Positive experience: This was my first visit to a GameStop in over 10 years. Place was clean and tidy, employee was polite. I had just got a PS5 as a gift, and heard they had a deal; 4 games for $40 as long as each games was under $20. I was excited! After checking out all the used games I found 4 of the cases on games I was interested in. One was not in-stock even though the case was available for grabs, one was "priced" incorrectly and was over the limit. And the other two they couldn't find and had to downgrade me to the ps4 versions while trying to assure me that they are the same. Not the best experience and yet still became a member. Looking forward to trying again but maybe I'll check out the other GameStops nearby first.
Fantastic experience: Super helpful. Answered all my questions. Great service
Fantastic experience: They got great customer service, nowhere like Devonshire GameStop been going there for 8 years, helpful people who nows how to find what u need
Negative experience: Do you guys even test the used games you purchase? Bought red dead two and it won’t even install past 1.76GB. Even in offline mode. Keeps saying the disk is dirty or damaged. I will be back in with my receipt for my refund.
Negative experience: I brought my son to buy a collectible he wanted. At checkout, the item was taken away and into the back. I was told they couldn't sell it until November 9th due to an "IP" issue. I told them we had bought the same item, from the same IP, from a separate GameStop (I did not point out the others they had on the shelves). I was told, essentially, that different GameStops had different rules for their sales. I drove to the Salem Center Mall and bought the same item from that GameStop with no issues. I would be cautious shopping at the Devonshire GameStop. I would not trust what you are told about any product they sell.
Negative experience: Maybe don't put someone on hold and actually walk away from the phone. Just to avoid an interested customer
Negative experience: Employee is realy rude and disrespectful!! Do not shop at this gamestop!! Go anywhere but to this location!
Fantastic experience: Gamestop in Salem is EXCELLENT. I am from Oregon and if you come to oregon, first go to Dutch Bros then hit up a gamestop in Salem
Positive experience: Great selection
Positive experience: Small selection.
Fantastic experience: How to generally good game collection
Fantastic experience: This store has some good merchandise. I bought a pair of Hello Kitty and Friends socks here back in 2023.
Negative experience: My significant other called in and was told for his PS4 he would get $55.50. They completely ripped him off and only gave him $32.34 This infuriates me and I would like to have the situation settled. It's not fair that we both have disabilities and this is how we are treated. If they tell us one thing over the phone they need to follow through. NEVER will we be back there. This is discrimination and I won't let this issue go. I would like for them to give us the rest of the promissed money.
Fantastic experience: Love this location I would love to do a vlog
Fantastic experience: Can’t go wrong with this place. It’s always been there for me for my gaming needs. Thank you GameStop!!
Fantastic experience: I will always love the nostalgia of walking into a GameStop. The vide hasn't changed over the years and that's a good thing. Excellent customer service and knowledgeable employees.
Negative experience: Accidentally came in 10 minutes before close, employee was incredible rude and awful tone of voice telling me to get out while other customers were in the store
Fantastic experience: Lady was very friendly Gave me great price for my xbox one and a ton of games I will be returning there soon...
Negative experience: I can’t confirm but from my experience I think they’re hiding product until someone they know or like asks for it. They’re usually pretty cool though.
Positive experience: Needs more marvel legends figures other then that the place is grewt if your looking for new games and friendly service
Negative experience: I called all three store to get a quote for my ps5 and ALL THREE gave me different prices. What is up with that?
Fantastic experience: The employees were helpful and nice and they have a great selection of games and trading cards.
Fantastic experience: The manager there is beyond great!
Negative experience: I went to this GameStop at about 11:30 on a Tuesday morning, thinking it would be open. I get to the door and it's still locked up. The hour signage lists that it opens at 10. However, once I checked Google it showed the store didn't open until 12. So I ran some other errands and game back about 12:05. Still not open. I tried calling two separate times with no answer. Please update your store hours so people aren't wasting their time.
Fantastic experience: Employees were friendly and happy to help.
Negative experience: Closed at 1245pm on a Saturday when sign clearly say open at 10am. There to pick up a Spark Order through the app that said it was ready for pickup. Employee said they were closed but front door was unlocked. HE* said come back in 30 minutes. Which means they open 1:15pm. Don’t do business here. Ran by incel neckbeards.
Positive experience: Drove all the way from stayton to this location to pick up a certain game. Almost didn't get it because I was asked for an ID since the game was M 17 plus. I have never been ID'd at any GameStop before, and they refused to let me purchase the game until I grabbed a friend who had his ID. I showed them mine but since it was expired they refused to use it. I don't know if they don't understand that you don't get younger just because you're ID expired, but I'm 24. I understand bars and dispos ID'ing, but I am never coming back to this location, when they are the only ones in my whole life who have felt the need to ID me. I am very clearly over 17, I have facial hair, tattoos, so it seemed like they wanted me to stroke their ego tbh. The people WERE nice and helped me get what I needed, but I would've walked away with absolutely nothing but wasted gas money if it weren't for my friend and that is due to game stops apparently strong arm policy. Very disappointed, have been coming to game stops since I was 6. Don't waste my time. I can get a beer and a ounce of weed without showing my ID just about anywhere in Salem, so the fact I got turned away at GameStop is jaw droppingly outrageous.
Fantastic experience: Great store with plenty of choices.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful, I was looking for external hard drives for an Xbox one, they are actually decently priced and the man behind the counter was very kind.
Fantastic experience: Greay servic, very helpful
Negative experience: Slow as molasses. One person in front of me, I waited for 10 mins then left as the transaction was far from complete. Employee had no sense of urgency, just kind of slowly meandering through the transaction. Stores like this are why Amazon does so well.
Positive experience: Best customer service, place was very clean and organized.
Negative experience: Overall terrible experience. I wasn't going to leave a review until I got a follow-up call from them today. I ordered a Meta Quest 3 online two days ago and drove over 30 miles to pick it up. There were two people in front of me and it took over 30 minutes for my turn. The guy working was alone, and new, and apparently didn't now how to do anything, including logging into the POS system, so he kept having to call for help and narrated his numerous frustrations, some of which might have been valid, who knows. But I finally got my item. Today I get a reminder voice mail that the Meta Quest is ready to pick up and I have two days before the order is cancelled and the money is refunded. I called to let them know I got it and basically got an "oh" from "one of the managers," according to him, who I also shared this story with. He said it was a trainable moment, or something to that effect. No apologies, no thanks for letting them know, etc., seeing as their mistake meant I could have waited two days, gotten the money back, and it would be their problem. But really terrible quality control, training, etc.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service
Fantastic experience: Super nice and very helpful workers! Very organized and clean location. Plus it's the perfect place to go to when you want to get rid of your old or new ( but it has to work, can't be broken or anything wrong with it) game systems and game accessories. && Cell phones! For cash or in store credit. It's ur choice!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service and very good deals
Fantastic experience: Customer service was awesome here. Christian was a massive help and made sure we found everything we needed. Thank you so much
Fantastic experience: Employees really helpful and informative
Fantastic experience: Good place to go
Positive experience: My go to Location for gamestop in salem. Always good clearance items and figures
Negative experience: Very bad costumer service. They have male versions of Karen’s working there yelling at kids for being excited for the release of a new game. Straight up yelled at my kid and said he needed to calm down or he needed to leave. I guess they are not kid friendly.
Fantastic experience: I want to thank Christian last night for making my shopping experience fast and easy he got me exactly what I wanted with no problems and gave me a free poster for being friendly
Negative experience: Very long lines. Stood in line for 30 minutes and cashier was just having conversations with customers. Not worth your time.
Fantastic experience: I don’t know anything about it, but my son likes it
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and nice. Got all the games I wanted.
Negative experience: I just wanted to exchange my controller at game stop Salem Oregon 3815 Devonshire Ave. The sales associate Timothy insisted I needed my receipt to exchange my controller, I simply told him I've never needed a receipt to exchange it in the past if I have the sticker on my box. I told him I'm in the system as pro member since 2018, Timothy once again told me I needed it so I proceeded to give him my receipt. He looked me up seen I was a pro member, but since I was questioning him on why I needed a receipt to exchange my controller that I have a valid warranty for, he refused me service and told me to leave. As a black man who visited the store countless times, I felt embarrassed and flat out discriminated against. He chose not to follow company policy all because he felt I questioned his authority. I Looked up the policy once I got home and called to read it over the phone and he still refused me service.
Fantastic experience: Great deals
Fantastic experience: Very nice customer service.
Negative experience: these people put my email in wrong (coNcast?) when i bought the pro membership. this was 2 days ago. now the girl on the phone tonight says i have do download an app to get a phone number to correct this. these people shouldnt work long hours. just work each of them 12 hours a week so they dont get overwhelmed.
Fantastic experience: The Devonshire GameStop location is my top choice in the Salem area. They are the friendliest and most professional. I've been present when nasty customers have called and come in, and the staff always handle themselves so remarkably. They're always so amazing with my daughter and remember past encounters and what she's told them.
Negative experience: 5/27 - employees put up a "bathroom break will return in 15 minutes " sign and closed the store half hour early. Not cool. Theres 4 of us out here. We're all out here really upset. I just sold 7 shares of stock. Will be using Amazon from now on.
Fantastic experience: I had to swap out of controller due to drift (within return window). Amira handled everything and provided me with some of the best customer service ever. Thank you
Negative experience: I called and was told you had an Xbox in stock. When I came in to buy it. There was an issue with it ringing up with a controller. They stated they got an email, but it can't be fixed, and they can't sell it. All employees should be updated on this if this is an issue. You got my hopes up, and you had what I needed. I called ahead and then came down and wasted my time and gas to go there. I went somewhere else and you lost a big sale.
Fantastic experience: Delicious!
Positive experience: This game stop is spacious and pretty neat
Fantastic experience: Great service
Negative experience: Says they open at 10am 10:25 and nobody is here
Positive experience: ok
Fantastic experience: I cannot speak for all locations. However so far this one is my favorite due to the fact they are friendly and seem to really like their job and there fore want to help when people come in not just because it's their job. I've always been able to find what I am looking for and then some. And if it's not in they are very happy to send you to the right location for it. I've had issues at other locations across the US and non were comparable.
Fantastic experience: Fast and knowledgeable staff. Had what I wanted.
Negative experience: This specific store has a woman who is so flippin’ rude. I was waiting in line behind a couple paying— that’s fine. As she’s helping them, the phone rings, she hangs up and throws it across the counter with a loud thud. As the couple finish up, a gentleman walks in and she immediately helps him and completely skips me, she even glared over at me as she was helping him.
Negative experience: This stores phone will hang up on you and when you let the employee know it's rude and poor customer service she tells you her line is long and also hangs up on you. Won't be visiting this store again!
Positive experience: Friendly helpful
Negative experience: I went here looking to trade in old wii games m, unfortunately they don't take those for trade any more because they are so old. But, they will sell you an old used Wii game for around 50$ ... Good luck to whoever tries looking for any sort of deals here. I'd definitely check elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: The best one in Salem/kiezer, in my opinion.
Fantastic experience: very good place
Negative experience: They rushed u into selling ur stuff and then they get mad because they do u wrong I don’t like Daniel because he is doesn’t explain things and rushes u to sell ur games and then they are rude when they sell u a game that doesn’t work and stays on the loading screen for a long time
Positive experience: Nice to see a game that was on sale.
Positive experience: The magic GameStop! I think they had THE LAST plush Squirtle available in normal colors (there was a all silver Pokémon trend going on). I was on a road trip and searched store inventories online along my route like Walmart and Target but they had none available in stores in WA, OR or SoCal. But GameStop Salem Called around and found one in GameStop Devonshire!!! Made my son's birthday!!! It would be cool if the GS website would list inventory of nearby stores so one didn't have to search store by store.
Fantastic experience: Perfectly nerdy!
Fantastic experience: Good game selection, cool collectibles.
Fantastic experience: Go too spot for games and Funko pop toys for my boy
Fantastic experience: Got exactly what I needed with great service. Knowledgeable staff.
Fantastic experience: Nice, clean good prices
Fantastic experience: Got the last PS4 in stock anywhere, props.
Fantastic experience: Kathryn was wonderful and very helpful. Excellent customer service, thank you!
Fantastic experience: I can get all the games I'm looking for at a great price
Fantastic experience: Good games
Fantastic experience: Michael is my guy! He deserves a HELL OF A RAISE, I will for sure continue going to that specific GameStop probably forever! Not exaggerating, I’m A PROO NOW BABBYYYY
Fantastic experience: Staff were very attentive and helpful and informative.
Positive experience: It's okay, not a whole lot of products with out ordering it in?
Fantastic experience: Staff was super friendly and very helpful!!!
Positive experience: Pretty good selection, and much less attitudes and superiority complexes from the staff. Unless you're buying used, save your money and get new at Walmart.
Fantastic experience: Usually has a good stock of games
Fantastic experience: Store is great games stops online system is atrocious
Positive experience: Stop on in for the best selection of video games and game tech.
Fantastic experience: The clerk that I talked too wasn't just helpful, he went above and beyond for me. It was a great feeling being honored as a customer. I will be coming back here and urge anyone who reads this to browse what they have.
