Experiencia negativa: Disappointing experience, despite some nostalgic finds I had a 9-hour layover in Newark and happened to get off the bus right in front of GameStop on Broad Street. As a huge fan of video games, I decided to check it out—but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. First impressions weren’t great. The windows were completely covered, making it impossible to see inside, and honestly, it gave off a very sketchy, unsafe vibe. The store also had a strong, unpleasant smell that didn’t help the atmosphere. Once inside, I appreciated that they had a decent selection, including some older games from back in the day, which was a nice surprise. I picked up Monopoly GO! for Xbox 360, which was worth the buy. However, I also grabbed a Harry Potter Kinect game, and when I went to the cashier, I was told the disc had already been sold. That was really disappointing—especially since it was still on display. If it's not in stock, it shouldn't be on the shelf. To make things worse, I was traveling and my backpack was completely full. I politely asked if they had a small plastic bag to carry the game I purchased, but they said they didn’t have any at all. I had to awkwardly and carefully stuff it into my bag and hope it wouldn’t get damaged during the rest of my trip. Overall, it's nice that this area still has a game shop, and the retro game selection was a plus—but the store felt run-down, disorganized, and not very welcoming. With a few improvements, it could be a much better experience.

Experiencia negativa: This Game’Stop is the worst especially when it comes to Pokemon TCG releases. The Spanish guy likes to hold things for himself. I’ve had so many visits here due to the convenience of the location but I just travel to other cities and get what I want. I can’t believe that this GameStop is still downtown Newark

Experiencia negativa: Don’t waste your time, the store rarely has anything to offer you. The products on the shelves themselves are false advertising. If you desperately need something physically ask them to open the products so you can see what you are buying. Recently bought a USB Type-C cable with the assistance of a worker, with them knowing what I need. Just to finally open the product to discover the cable is a regular USB. New products that have been opened are not eligible for return or exchange. (Packaging Fraud)

Experiencia negativa: Just take another 10 to 15 minutes to go to any other store, staff is rude and has really gone downhill the last year. Doesn't matter who you want to everyone has a problem facing a questions and act like it's the biggest inconvenience and asking for product. I cannot wait until this location shuts down.

Experiencia negativa: Dont come to this store!! Soo ghetto I came in looking for an regular X box controller for my boyfriend. Mind you O dont know too much bout games or xbox but i do know bout the controller he uses… when i ask the guy with the locks he said not to grab the one on the shield that he had it in on the table.. he really scammed me n sell me the nano control without even asking me if he use small controllers. Disgusting

Experiencia positiva: Walking to the store I called a few times no one answered, got there and the phone rang and they didn't bother at all to pick up the phone even though I was the only one in the store. It wasn't busy. Answering the phone can be very helpful and time-saving.

Her staff are completely disrespectful and lazy. Barely do a job, they don't deserve any customers hard earned money. They need to be replaced ASAP.

Persia for some reason felt it needed to make racist remarks and even drop my preorder so now it isnt turning. Waiting on assistance from corporate. I do not recommend coming to this store ever.

Experiencia positiva: Game stop is great with their variety of games and accessories, however they can be on the more expensive side and remember to bring a bag with you to put your purchases in because they no longer provide bags for your purchases. They have their game stop bags available for purchase for $1.00 if you happen to not have your own bag.

Experiencia negativa: The Guy Had the wrong prices stocked on the shelves. When I got to the register everything was more than listed. He then rang my order as cash when I specifically requested debt. Remarked that he could not change it and I really wanted the game so I had to use all of my cash and was unable to get change for the bus to get home on time because I had no cash.

Experiencia fantástica: There's a girl that works here, I forgot her name (sorry!), who is so incredibly helpful. I had ordered a controller for my sister, and it got lost in their system. She had the item, but she couldn't check it out for me. This young woman called them and sorted it out, then called me and let me know it was all ready to go. The fact that she took the time to figure it out, and was so kind and apologetic during the entire process, really made an impression on me. You don't get that from a lot of places these days. I was impressed with their stock as well. The o ly bad thing, through no fault of their own, is that there's literally no parking near the store. I double parked out front haha

The manager Kristine and her employees are always so helpful in helping me find what I want and making shopping so easy! Experiencia negativa: I called and requested them to hold an item for me. after they told me they would hold the item I drove over 45 minutes to come to the store. when I got to the store they told me that the item was pre ordered for somebody else. although it's been over 72 hours since they were supposed to pick it up they still would not sell me the item. complete waste of time and accomplished nothing on my trip to this game stop don't ever come here

Experiencia negativa: I was just in there this morning. The worst customer service from Amanda. She was rude and had no idea what she was doing. Sold us the wrong code. She was talking to the other rep about the schedule and her weekend plans and made us wait for her to help us. She was complaining about being there. Very unprofessional. Ridiculous. She wasted my time and sold us the wrong code. Never going there again. Poor Customer Service. Hire better staff!! She needs to get fired.

Experiencia positiva: It's an iffy location but the game selection and consoles / accessories are updated and pretty decent. There's a lot of selection it's just the area around can get crowded. Got a used game for my nephew which I had to exchange... No problem and the staff was nice enough to suggest other choices and patient while I was still deciding which one to get. Overall a smooth transaction.

You get better deals when you buy or sell on LetGo! Truthfully, try it you'll never go back. Use GameStop as a last resort for quick cash.
