Game X Change Denton: Reviews
Fantastic experience: It was a great place! The team there is really helpful.
Negative experience: Brought im two SIR pokemon cards from destined rivals one being a 140$ card. Was told the card is too high end and they cant sell it fast so they could only off 40$ for it not even 50% do not sell your cards here the will low ball you as low as it goes. They also said they take bulk 4 dollars for 1000 cards and .18 cents on the dollar for low end ex go to a card shop or sell your cards om whatnot.
Fantastic experience: edwin was great and helped me get prices for everything i came into sell. they have everything you can think of in gaming or electronics i’d recommend stopping by for any interest in gaming
Fantastic experience: Great place to shop! Found a Vita and games in store which is rare I’d say nowadays
Negative experience: Offered me 4.50 for some 150$ headphones that are in basically perfect condition this place is a joke wouldn’t recommend
Fantastic experience: River, John, and Mike helped me out big time today!!! They were super sweet because I was looking for some cables since I'm doing my first public radio gig tonight. We got to talking and they mentioned they buy pops and I was able to trade in my like $100~ish collection I wasn't using for $35 store credit and I got a microphone AND a pop filter. Love them to bits and please be kind to them if you go in! They work hard and it shows. :)
Negative experience: Games were sold not working then I exchange and watch him go thru 4 copies of one game each one worse and worse covered in scratches and he throws them back in there even thoe they clearly won’t work, btw the copy he replaced doesn’t work either he then angrily throws away a game I wanted because he couldn’t find the disc I was very respectful and even apologized for having to exchange but you could just tell he did not like his job very bad vibes very off putting won’t be shopping there again wouldn’t recommend to anyone overall not very welcoming and not the best vibe for a game store
Negative experience: I brought in approximately 3,000 sports cards (baseball, basketball, and football) to sell. After explaining what I had, I was offered $1.40 per 1,000 cards. There was no explanation or breakdown provided for how that value was determined. The offer did not seem reasonable or reflective of the collection, so I declined and left. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this location if you’re looking for a fair or serious appraisal.
Negative experience: my friend and i went in and we usually always have such an amazing time there. however, this time we heard an employee discussing the autistic barbie that just came out. she was discussing it in a very distasteful manner that made my friend and i so uncomfortable we immediately left the store. she had incorrectly referred to the communicator the doll has as a “book” and was very obviously unaware of the fact that this doll was based off of a real autistic girl. my friend and i are also autistic and felt extremely put off as we don’t necessarily “look” autistic. which is why this is an insanely distasteful and ignorant conversation to have in front of customers. you never know who may be in your store, and the spectrum is so broad you can’t pin autism to one specific look. i doubt my friend and i will be returning to this location.
Fantastic experience: Very nice bulk cards
Positive experience: Smells like cigars which is off putting, but employees are generally friendly. We don't always find something, but do score good deals now & then.
Negative experience: This is the worst Game X I have ever went to. There workers are not knowledgeable enough with there own return policy or there systems. Very rude holding a whole conversation with another customer while you are checking me out.
Fantastic experience: I gave them a deserved revist and did find some items in their stock. It's still an incredibly cramped space but they keep it very tidy.
Fantastic experience: Knowledgeable, friendly staff, got about 1
Fantastic experience: Got every game from every platform
Negative experience: Over priced and not very knowledgeable
Positive experience: Was expecting way more retro games
Fantastic experience: All the employees are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve made many good deals here. The store manager (John I believe) even helped me carry a big TV to my car, it wasn’t fitting so he helped take the stands off and help me load it in extremely helpful!!!
Negative experience: 55 dollars for a used Xbox 1 controller come on way to proud of its inventory
Negative experience: We took a Sideshow Collectible (Orig $300)- in pristine condition- the guy offered us $40 cash and TOLD US he would sell it for $280... Also saw him give this kid with some nice Funko Pops - about 8- he gave him $32 for all of it- total jerk-
Fantastic experience: Game Stop who? This is the spot to come for all things video games. My son sold his old console and upgraded in under 30 mins
Fantastic experience: love building my physical media collection here- the staff is super friendly and helpful!
Fantastic experience: Always good vibes and good deals . Never know what you will find on a good day in there.
Positive experience: You never know what you're going to find here. I love stopping in here while I'm out on 380.
Positive experience: Fair prices and policy. Would go again. Love their baskets of controllers and cables
Fantastic experience: Super friendly staff. 100 mtg cards for $5 is a great deal!
Positive experience: Here’s my honesty review of this place the prices are on par for games, consoles, etc. they have a pretty wide selection. I don’t hate it here I find some cool stuff every once in awhile. My biggest complaint is the smell and staff. Went here with my kids and this place had the most potent smell of weed (Marijuana). And the staff there just looks to be annoyed when you ask them a question. If you just looking for a game to play or retro game stop in but beware.
Fantastic experience: Good shop to look for retro and modern games as well as computers, headsets, funko pops, tcg cards, music instruments, gundams...the list goes on and on...and on....with that being said, this store carries alot of inventory and brings in alot of inventory. But with alot of inventory and doing all the things needed for a business to survive, it takes a person willing to do that task. There's a guy that works here...I believe he is the manager. His name is Jonathan and he is an absolute work horse for this constantly busy environment. Hats off to you, Jonathon. Truly...without you, this place wouldn't survive. I hope your getting compensated fairly for your efforts and I pray that any bosses you may have see this effort and realize the reality of how good you truly are and appreciate you for that. Ur a true boss..I believe that without you, this place would be unable to sustain and just fall into disrepair and chaos. Just wanted to share my observations and respect for this dude.
Negative experience: Their window signs say alot of good sounding things like paid cash etc, etc
Fantastic experience: They were awesome had everything I needed to get for Christmas I'm definitely going back there again
Fantastic experience: Great customer service.
Fantastic experience: Staff was super friendly and helpful. We traded in some of our old games and we're able to use the credit to get a bunch of ones our son will enjoy playing with us
Negative experience: This place is an absolute joke, and so is the owner. First off, he has no idea what he’s doing. I stop by once a month hoping things will improve, but it’s always the same. He told me he “can’t adjust prices” because he’ll “get in trouble.” What kind of manager can’t manage anything? Then there’s the pricing: DDR3 RAM? $30. DDR4 RAM? $30. Probably DDR5 too—because why put any effort into pricing when you can just slap $30 on everything? And let’s not forget the $80 GTX 1050. It’s like they’re running a museum of overpriced, outdated parts. Oh, and the owner? Let’s just say he smells like he’s allergic to soap and looks like he hasn’t seen a razor in years. Dude, if you’re going to overcharge for junk, at least clean yourself up. This place is beyond hope.
Fantastic experience: My friend Tim told me about this store and k wanted to check it out !! It’s has a lot of great stuff. He begs me to get a Call Of Duty Ghosts game and I will come here again to get games for my new ps5
Fantastic experience: Awesome knowledgeable friendly staff as always
Negative experience: Couldn't buy remote because they could not find it in their system, dont waste your time coming.
Fantastic experience: this has been a reliable place to find games and consoles during my time in denton. the prices are fair and the employees are really helpful.
Fantastic experience: Dope spot you can get anything or everything
Positive experience: Can we normalize not putting a price sticker on games? Or at least if you are going to use a price sticker, use one that comes off easy. This is a HUGE deal if you are buying one of the rare games sold here for over $100. If I have to almost damage the case to get the sticker off my $10 game then there is no way I'm buying a rare game worth more than that from here. Regardless I really like this place, they have an amazing selection and good prices.
Negative experience: Okay if you coming in to sell your ps4 just don’t do it. Just post it on Facebook marketplace and sell it there. Let me explain something to if you sell you ps4 here the going to give you 45 dollars cash and sell the ps4 for 145. If that makes any sense to you then buy all mean do it because it makes absolutely no sense to me. They offer extremely low prices.
Negative experience: Place is called GameXChange but its just as orginized as the thrift store next door. Place is cluttered and the games are hidden at the back now. You cant even see any games as you walk in with all the non-game merch and hardware taking the spotlight now.
Fantastic experience: Used to go here a lot before I moved. Let's just say it was the best Game Xchange ever. Staff was pretty chill at the time, clean and not stuffed to the brim with boxes, and there was so many chances to find obscure films here! I got a lot of mileage from this location in the early-mid 2010s and I'm glad to know it's still doing very very well.
Positive experience: Small store, games are well organized, movies are a bit off, decent priced
Fantastic experience: I don't think I've ever received such top notch service in a while. Louisa and Tyler (hope I got their names right), are really awesome. My wallet is in trouble, my wife might kill me but hey at least I might have found a good place to hang out
Fantastic experience: I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible support we received from Game Exchange. Their team exemplifies kindness and courtesy in every interaction. Their generous donation of a PlayStation to our company not only brought joy to our team but also provided valuable resources for our cause. We are immensely grateful for Game Exchange's support and proud to be associated with such a compassionate organization.
Fantastic experience: Great place to trade your old game stuff in
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and super nice. Pretty good prices as well.
Positive experience: Wish they could do more for Pokemon cards but they gotta make their money too. I really like the manager he went out of his way to let me know he would be a while looking my cards up so he took my name and number to call when he was done.
Fantastic experience: Got some badass posters and some great games at a reasonable price. Wonderful atmosphere, honestly pretty based selection of games, ranging from the atari to some of the newer stuff and almost everything in between. Legit impressed
Fantastic experience: Awesome store, workers and prices!
Fantastic experience: I'm glad that this location has such a wide variety of electronic products for sale. It's splendid. Highly recommended.
Negative experience: Bad employee at front. Young guy. Offered me money for Xbox, then rebuffed at the end and tried to keep my game and hdmi cord, had to come back and get them because he kept them behind counter.
Fantastic experience: They have some cool stuff in there, I recently bought a few Gameboy Color games. I will have to check more of this place out soon!
Fantastic experience: Great place! I go there a lot of times! Thanks for having exactly what I would like!
Fantastic experience: Buy sell trade. Tyler, Jonathan, and Kyle are awesome!!! I<3gameXchange
Fantastic experience: I love this place. Great deals and super helpful staff. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: A great movie store, game store, toy store, music store...just a great store.
Fantastic experience: Excellent game store with a variety of vintage and modern video games, as well as other items, new and used to browse. Friendly staff, good deals.
Fantastic experience: Excellent customer service. Tyler was amazing and so helpful and great with my kiddos! Highly recommend coming here, great prices as well as great people.
Positive experience: Going commercial, used to be more friendly with better and fair prices for trade
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff and willing to buy almost anything.
Fantastic experience: It was SOOO COOL!!! The prices were great and I loved looking around in there! =)
Fantastic experience: I went to this location the other day to trade in some Pokémon cards and had fantastic customer service! They have an incredibly wide selection including but not limited to games, consoles, pins, figures, and guitars! Tyler was incredibly helpful and personable the entire time I was there and Saoirse really patient with explanations! All in all, I will absolutely be coming back here anytime I need to buy of sell anything they carry!
Negative experience: If I could give a negative I would! Called and asked to do a sell and said yes if I come before 9 I get there then they tell me no. What a waste of time and gas.
Positive experience: Love this place, great staff! Very friendly folk. Always have the products I need. However, I wish they carried pc parts!!! 4/5
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place, they are NOT only after profit. You can find amazing games for old systems FOR CHEAP(ish)! They aren't going to charge a game fifty dollars, even if its the going rate online. Tons of older system games, DVDs, and CDs. Collectors of these items, or just people who have older systems (even newer!) who want to expand their library should DEFINITELY come check this place out.
Fantastic experience: This place gets my 5star not because it's chalked full of amazing games and pop culture items but because of this one employee. I think he was the guy running the business the manager I wish I would of gotten his name because he was such a great person and he handled a situation with a mentally challenged individual that was having an issue with his controller. Everything was against the manager this handicap person was hard to understand he was frustrated that his controller wasn't working and the way the manager handled the situation by slowing him down showed him step by step and even gave him a cord in case the persons cord was defective. The manager didn't get frustrated with him even though his back was against the wall he was the only employee working and needed help the place was packed. He handled that situation like a professional. I'm going back to this place you should too
Negative experience: Been shopping here for what seems like a decade, but I think it's time to move on. The store has become so cluttered that it's nearly impossible to find anything. The pricing isn't too ridiculous, but the poor return policy should make this the last place you stop if plan to shop multiple stores.
Positive experience: It's alright it really depends on which staff is working that day some are worthy of 5 stars the others negative points if possible
Fantastic experience: Super nice and helpful staff and CRAZY good selection of Nintendo DS games :)
Fantastic experience: Always friendly and helpful, if they don't have it they will lol if thet don't want it they'll point you in a good direction.
Fantastic experience: This is an amazing store, Alan was super helpful and kind. I recommend shopping here, it’s nice and comfortable. Lots of things to choose from.
Negative experience: So far I have gotten two Xboxes from this place and they both have just one day stopped working I have literally taken care of both of them as much as possible there has been no damages no spills nothing has been wrong with this thing until I go to turn it on and it just keeps turning back off this is the second time this has happened do not go to the store they have faulty products
Fantastic experience: They have stuff there for good prices
Negative experience: I went in about a month ago. NEVER GOING BACK. I strongly suggest that anyone going there exercise caution. So I took my son in, he's a minor BTW. Neither of us are in a position to waste money or be taken advantage of. I'm not sure if the "staff" were aware that we were together because we went separate directions and only came together later at the register. My son found three discs of the same game. One was significantly lower priced. My son asked me if he should ask and point out the price difference and why. I said to my son to just take the less expensive one and for pay for it. He had saved a small amount to spend and the one disc fit into his budget. I stood back a way and listened. My son being the honest young man he is felt like it was right to ask. He didn't have to. So he asked if there was difference in the age or wear on the discs. The goofballs working (if you could call it that) there said that they guarantee any/all discus work properly. Then another employee came over and himmed and hawed a bit then conferred with the computer to look at inventory as best I could tell. Ultimately the alpha goofball said they would have to charge the higher price for either one. When my son asked why the goofball said that the prices increase at times. Further that they had fallen behind on updating the pricing, so take one at the higher price or don't. He couldn't care less obviously. I then conferred with my son, who had taken a lot of time to find a satisfactory game we could afford, and he of course was very disappointed; the look on his face made me sad so I paid the difference and went to our vehicle with my son. I didn't want to cause a scene with my son there inside the store. I did however go back in the store and asked alpha goofball how he felt about ripping off a young man because they were too lazy to do their jobs. I asked him if he would be man enough to refund the difference and of course that was a no-go with a sneering look and tone. I had also been interested in a used pair of headphones that they couldn't seem to agree on the selling price but eventually had come to me with a ridiculous price. They could have been had new for a few dollars more. I was treated with disdain and malice when we very well could have been returning customers with any sort of decency applied to the situation. It has always been a standard that if the retailer has a price tag for whatever amount stuck on the item, that's what you paid even if it was their mistake. I could understand if the item was of super high value and an HONEST mistake had been made. Those sad guys obviously felt they could bamboozle a younger boy to make up for their lazy approach to their jobs. I hope this review will influence some of you to never go in this Game Exchange. We never will go back no matter what. No big loss for us for sure.
Negative experience: They sold me two games and the discs won’t read and when I went to exchange it they gave me another defective disc and I can’t get my money back cause they only do in store credit so on that note I will be buying games elsewhere
Fantastic experience: really nice employees <3 they were super helpful and took the time to fix up some of my stuff too and overall were very welcoming. way better than any other place i’ve been. i brought some really old kinda beat up stuff and got $60 for it. definitely worth my time.
Fantastic experience: This is a great little shop for gamer kids. They actually buy nerf guns too which worked out great for us because we were going to donate a few and got $15 store credit for them.
Fantastic experience: Great place, taken good care of my family!! Highly suggest for good dental care...
Positive experience: Good selection and prices. 4 stars because they can never find the disc you want
Negative experience: Used to like them. Never going back again. Don't trade them anything. For example we took in 2 omnibus one we bought for 80 and the other for 50 new. They offered us 3 and 6 dollars. They have become significantly more greedy. Prices aren't really any better than gamestop anymore. Their employees still get paid minimum wage as far as I know too. I suggest not to buy, sell, trade, or work here.
Fantastic experience: We always love going to this store! The employees are nice, there's games, movies and more with reasonable prices, and there's always something new there.
Negative experience: My children love getting their games here but their customers service sucks!!! Their super rude to my mixed family. Noticed they(male employees) cater to men more. Twice I have waited in line and the employee let a man cut Infront of me and waited another 20 min then waited in line where the male manager helped out a male couple right away and totally blew my family off. We never get a hello welcome in like the men do upon observation. It's very strange and unwelcoming.
Fantastic experience: The staff are always really nice when I go in. And the prices are very reasonable if not dirt cheap.
Negative experience: This store used to be great but now they can't even be bothered to answer the phone. I'm not gonna reference any other business in this review simply because I want this store to understand they are actually losing customers, not just getting reviews that could possibly be another business trying to funnel customers to their store instead. That's how bad it's actually gotten. The company should do something about this immediately.
Fantastic experience: Associates are super friendly and helpful, usually have what I'm looking for, cheap prices, everything in good condition. Selling items to them doesn't always get much in return though.
Negative experience: I’ve been to this store 3 times, the first time I was helped out and the girl seemed genuinely interested in helping out and games. The second time, I had a very rude lazy dude “help” but all he did was just stand there and tell me incorrect information then asked me to do research on Reddit right there in the store. The third time, it seemed both ladies didn’t want to be there nor help anyone. I’d recommend taking your money somewhere else like Movie Trading Company or Found It Electronics. Seems like Game X Change doesn’t really care about how trashed their store is or helping out their customers. Also the two ladies were trashing talking a coworker while I was trying to purchase items, that’s pretty tacky.
Fantastic experience: Kevin, you are awesome my guy. Thank you for answering my questions and tolerating my lack of knowledge. Super nice guy!! Forget game stop, I'm going here from now on!!
Negative experience: This place could use some help. Went in to find a certain game and was pleasantly surprised to find it; however when I took the empty case up to the counter to purchase the game it was nowhere to be found. They half heartily fumbled around for about five minutes looking for it only to give up and say they misplaced it. Went back less than a week latter and the case was on the shelf (for the same game). I took it back up to the register, and after another poor-spirited attemp to look for it again, was told it was still nowhere to be found. I couldn't understand why the case was put back on the shelf and I would have taken a phone number in case it happened to be found. I definitely urge anyone looking to do business with this establishment to go to Movie Trading Company instead. Without a doubt more organized and more customer friendly!
Fantastic experience: I love this place so much more than Game Stop! They have everything that you could imagine
Fantastic experience: Always Great Service been to Sherman, Denison, Denton and McKinney never experienced nothing but nice knowledgeable clerks. Thank you keep up the great work. Oh and they have great selection and surplus!
Fantastic experience: Cute store they have alot of gaming stuff
Fantastic experience: Staff is friendly and eager to help. I love going to the store!
Negative experience: They used to have older games that were super hard to find but now they carry only mainstream old games and their cds are buffed sometimes so you dont know if the game you buy is actually a refurbish disk.
Fantastic experience: I've been coming here since I was in middle school and they've never done me wrong. You can always find rare vintage games due to the inventory variety.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and experienced persons at the store both in Gainesville and Denton, Texas
Positive experience: This is a great used game store. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they have plenty of consoles, games, and accessories to choose from. Prices are a little more expensive, however they have items you can't find anywhere else but online.
Fantastic experience: Crew that works there are super helpful and extremely nice. This is mt go to movie joint
Positive experience: They take old and sell used. Good deal
Fantastic experience: Great place for reasons aside from the "Buy, Sell, Trade" format. Great staff always helpful and courteous. Some walks down memory lane, longer for some of us than others. More than just games and systems to gaze at.
