Fantastic experience: I would give this place 1000 stars if I could, do yourself a favor and come here. I recently started seeing Cake Hoarder’s instagram posts, and was praying they would be close to my area. To my surprise, this store was 2 hours away from my location and every second of my drive was worth it. If you were a gamer in the 2000’s, this place will be a heaven for you. The store somehow has plenty of GameCube memorabilia (not just 2000’s but it is prominent and amused me the most). Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, I recommend a visit to this store. I spent almost 2 hours in the small store browsing more extremely rare one of a kind items. The more I looked, the more I found. The staff here is the nicest, chillest, and most informative staff I’ve ever spoke to. We had countless conversations about the stores products and I was told that the store opened 6 months ago. This store has plenty of games I didn’t even know existed. For me, the decor is what stood out, but while I was there, plenty of customers came to check out pokemon cards. The owner is extremely generous to be sharing his memorabilia and this store if definitely a must visit if you’re into the GameCube era or gaming. It’s worth noting some displays are not for sale, but fear not as they are in the hands of a very passionate owner who will take care of this rare merch. Again, that’s why I came, but if you’re in need of games in general? This is the go to place. They have games as early as the NES era all the way to the Nintendo switch 2 / ps5 era. They also provide customers a “notify list”, if you request a specific game and it’s in stock, they will give you a call letting you know they have it in stock. A big shout out to this store and the folks who run it. If I find myself need of games, cool trinkets from gaming of the past, pokemon cards, consoles, or just to escape the world for a little bit, this is my go to spot and I’ll happily drive another 2 hours just to do it. All the beautiful retro decor on every wall along with the staff being as friendly as possible, it’s a 1 in all stop shop from retro, Pokèmon TCG & more!

The staff & owner are so kind & helpful. The store has such a fun vibe to it. My kids’ new favorite place to shop! We will definitely be back again & again.

Fantastic experience: Really cute card shop with a great atmosphere. The selection is solid, the deals are fair, and you can tell a lot of care goes into how the shop is run. They also have tons of selection in retro and modern games, along with modern and somewhat vintage Pokémon cards, which makes it easy to find something whether you’re a casual fan or a serious collector. The owner was awesome, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better. Overall, it’s the kind of place you actually enjoy spending time in, not just shopping. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: Drove 2 hours to get to this store and I can say it was worth it to see everything inside. This place is half store, half museum. It has a wide selection of games from any console you can think of, as well as a few that you probably haven't heard of. Compared to the retro game stores in my local area (Fresno), the games are competitively priced, and the selection is wider, containing rare games from both America and Japan. As for the museum part, there are many items, posters, magazine clippings, and old store displays that are not for sale, but are very cool to see nonetheless. They have all been collected meticulously by the store's owner who clearly has a passion for video game history. The owner of the place, Max, is very approachable; he greets every person in the store and I ended up having a nice chat with him as he was ringing up my items. If this place wasn't as far of a drive as it is for me, I'd probably be visiting all the time just to check out everything on display. If you're in Modesto or within a good distance of it, do yourself a favor and check out this store if you are at all a fan of video games.

They price their things well and the store is clean and full of games and other stuff to buy. the people are awesome to talk to and are super helpful. Definitely a place I’ll keep going back to

SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE. My girlfriend doesn’t let me play games at the house so I went to cakehoarder games everyday to play super Mario sunshine and he let me! He even cheered me on. Him and Joey witnessed me beat the entire game, and when I beat it he was so proud of me that he posted me to his instagram!!! An unforgettable playthrough at an unforgettable store. My kids LOVE playing the demos and trying to guess the nostalgic video game tunes that are always playing. There’s a huge collection of old games but the real treasures are the rare finds they always seem to come by. Can’t wait to come back!

I was able to trade in my old ds and some games and they gave me more in store credit than I expected to get! And for a smaller pokemon card section had some banger cards for a great deal!
