Experiencia positiva: The store had quite a disorganized appearance, with items strewn about and shelves that looked like they hadn't been restocked in a while. The selection was limited, making it difficult to find exactly what I was looking for. However, I have to give credit to the employee who was on duty; he was friendly and willing to help, which made my experience a bit more pleasant. Despite the mess and lack of variety, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, which is a plus. Overall, I wouldn't choose to return, but I can't say it was an entirely negative visit.

Experiencia fantástica: I think I stop by every 3 or 4 months. They always take a moment to answer my questions. I buy 360 and Switch games. I bought a new 360 and controller there also. My son is 9 and he loves playing Skylanders and enjoys older games because he isn't old enough to be online yet.

I took my grandson’s Nintendo to be fixed, said it would take a couple of days and they would call me and never did so I called a week and half later, still was not fixed, said they would have ready by end of days showed up next morning still not ready. Very unreliable!!!!!!

I love that kind of stuff especially as a gamer. So to be fair I am giving 4 stars hopefully I will be able to interact more w this store soon

Experiencia fantástica: If you've ever had a disc resurfaced by a chain store you can recall the poor job they do, and the mess they usually leave behind. That is the opposite of the service that I had at Matt's game exchange. All of the broken discs I brought in came out in perfect shape and I even had to ask them to charge me more because I thought the price they offered me was too cheap for the top notch quality of work.

Experiencia negativa: Not super impressed with this place. They did have a lot of games on the shelves, but most of them are not games that people want. The sun coming in the large windows on the storefront have caused many of the game covers to become faded. The price stickers the store uses do not come off easily. You need to use heat to take them off, and then goo gone to get rid of the adhesive residue. Some prices were ok, while others were high. They had a bin at the front of the store with random wires in it, which is great to see, but these wires did not have prices on them and ended up being way more expensive than you would expect for something out of a messy junk bin. The employees were fine, but not overly personable. Overall, I am not sure I would come back.

Experiencia positiva: A bit all over the place, not well maintained or organized. Prices for CIB NES games were really high. They did have a cord/accessory section that was just tossed in a bin that most places don’t have, so that was good.

Experiencia negativa: Visited the store several times to sell games, consoles etc. They are selective on what they choose to purchase. Very low offers for your items,and always lean towards giving store credit instead of currency.

Experiencia negativa: If I could I’d give them zero stars, I would. They were initially recommended to me by a close friend so I decided to check them out. Ive been having issues with games not downloading and getting constant error notifications. When I dropped off my Nintendo switch I was told that they would take a look at it the next day and I’d receive a call to let me know if it required additional work outside of troubleshooting. The lack of communication is my primary issue. They’ve had my Nintendo switch for over a month. I checked in with them two weeks in since I hadn’t heard anything and they said they weren’t finished with my switch yet. I left it there and continued to wait. I received absolutely no communication from them whatsoever as to whether or not there was an issue with it or if it would require additional work. I finally decided to just go and pick it up and once again they told me “he” (whoever that is) wasn’t finished with it yet. They had a hard time finding my switch and had not even began to work on it. I would have been okay letting them hold onto it for longer if they actually communicated with me and said they backed up and working on other consoles. Now I’ll either find a more reputable shop to take a look at my console or I’ll just contact Nintendo directly. Thanks for nothing.

Experiencia positiva: Bought a ps4 game. The guy cleaned it and said it was some fingerprints on it; only for us to get it home and put it in and it won't even download. Take the disc out and it's messed up has like water damage or heat damage on it.

As I come here recently I don't seem to find any new arrivals that hit the shelves just seems like i see the same stuff each time. Guess it's about luck and when stuff comes in and when I go. Experiencia negativa: Went into the store a little while ago. Interesting place. Seemed little unkempt to be honest. Ok selection but Mccays down the road has a better selection. The guy working there lacked a lot of decency in customer service, as far as being unwelcoming, unhelpful and acted rather apathetic and lazy. He did buff out an old Wii game, but I haven't tested it to see if it worked yet. He could have cared less about that based on his attitude and body language. Probably won't be back. Its quite amazing how easy it is to lose a potential customer when your customer service is poor. Places like this need to care more about that. I feel like you guys can do better than this, if the care to change is there.

Experiencia fantástica: Pretty good store. Employees were friendly, prices were fair and is overall a really good option if you are looking for a retro game store. Edit: I returned because of how good the place was last time I was here. I was initially a bit worried because of the bad reviews it was getting ever since it moved. I ended up being pleasantly surprised. In fact, it ended up being better than last time. Employees were nice, despite some reviews saying otherwise. They even cleaned all the games with an Q-tip! The game library has been improved and the prices are still good. Don't let the other reviews scare you, this is still a great video game store! (Ignore the prices on the Kinect games, they actually cost $2.)

Experiencia negativa: Went to three stores to find a power cord for the xbox 360. I drove around all day and Matt's had one. Albeit the gentleman helping was knowledgable of what cord my xbox needed, I ended up with two cords that did not connect to each other. So, I'm home after driving around all day and the xbox plugs in, but the cord to plug it from the power box to the wall doesn't fit. I live 40 minutes from the store and the cord cost me $20. Not sure if it's worth it at this point. I should have ordered online.

I couldn't believe the massive selection, plus tons of rare games that you will not find anywhere else. If you are a true gamer and have not been here yet, you NEED to come check it out! I brought in a PS3 Slim that was given to me, and I didn't know if it worked. They gladly updated it and it functions perfectly. And...no charge! 5 STARS ALL DAY! Thank you Matt's Game Exchange. Experiencia fantástica: First off thank you so much!!!!!! I have a ps5 and Xbox series x that didn’t have any power going to it. I had gotten a person to look at it and they said it was the motherboard and it was nothing I can really do. I said before I give up get one more opinion and I chose the right people. They said it was a 50/50 chance that it was the motherboard or power supply but that they still will look at it. 25$ deposit and they went to work. They worked with me with updates about 2 weeks later I got my Xbox series x working perfectly and cleanly work nothing noticeably was different. Today just got my ps5 and it works like a charm. Thank you to Matt’s Game Exchange for just giving it a chance to see if it was something else before calling it a fail. I will be coming back for more business down the road

Experiencia fantástica: They helped me fix my controller. The audio plug got stuck in the jack, and the guy at the counter was super helpful and got it out for me. Very nice guy. They also have a fun selection of pokemon/anime stickers! So we bought some of those too.

I’ve bought tons of stuff from here over the years, prices are always fair, and on the very rare occasion that a pre-owned product doesn’t work, I bring it back in and they fix it, or give me another one no issues. Best place in town.

The guys are always very helpful with exchanges, and helping my son find things he is looking for, or giving him ideas of new things to try (harder with the vintage sets that he has). We’ve bought several consoles from them and they have all been in excellent working condition. Any issues we’ve had with games that didn’t work or things that needed to be replaced were taken care of or we were given the option of a full refund. They are truly awesome!

Experiencia negativa: I've been to matt's at their old location and their current one a few times. Never found anything worth going in for. Aloof staff more interested in ripping off unknowing customers looking to sell some stuff. I heard the offers and they were SUPER low for what the customer had. Their prices are ridiculously high across the whole store. Prices that are way over online shops such as eBay and without the $ back guarantee. Honestly there's not a decent resell shop in this town anymore. Do your research online and skip these jokers. Their reply to this review is of course the usual copy paste type answer. I'll say it again YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND A BETTER PRICE AND SERVICE ONLINE!

Experiencia fantástica: We brought in our Xbox One after it had some issues staying on. I called around to game repair places in Greensboro, and Matt's Game Exchange was up front about possible costs and offered a 1-3 day turnaround (which was both cheaper and WAY less time than other places saying they wouldn't look at it for ~2 weeks and it'd be a few hundred bucks). We brought it in right after. The person running the store was so kind, helpful, and efficient. He diagnosed the problem within a few minutes, and had what we needed in stock for a fair price.. we ended up walking out not even 10 minutes later with our Xbox and the equipment we needed. Excellent customer service, and seeing all the awesome games in stock was neat too. We will be back!!

Experiencia negativa: Dropped game system off here on thursday. guy i guess that handles the repairs said he had another xbox one x that was over heating and it be saturday so im thinking dam thats fast well its saturday and i call to see whats going on if it had even been touched nope i was told on the phone it be within two weeks till i get it back so i picked it up. These guys are trash as far as customer service and need to express the time of repair before holding a system hostage to collect more dust guys need a solid repair man if u pull up to a mechanic shop guys arnt just standing around with a lot full of cars tryna sell u windshield wipers they rotating getting things in and out. Experiencia fantástica: I ran across these guys at a vendor's spot at the Playthrough gaming convention in Raleigh of this year (that also happened to land on my birthday). Found me a copy of Mercenary Force on Gameboy at a fair price. The best thing though, was that he was cool enough to actually look for booklets/manuals and cases that I needed to complete a few games of mine when no one else there would (or even locally where I live). It just so happened that while I was standing there talking to him about various game stuff, someone had traded in a completed copy of Brave Fencer Musashi for PS1 (including the demo disc), and he sold me the booklet at a very fair and reasonable price. I understand that most places want to sell things all together because it'll sell for more, but it just means lot more to a collector when someone is willing to help them complete something in their collection. That was easily the best purchase I made that weekend, and a nice birthday present to myself :D. Matt, I very much thank you for breaking that game up to help a fellow collector, and I strongly recommend other businesses do the same. I wish I lived a lot closer than 8-10 hours away so I could be a regular at your store. I hope you do incredibly well in the future and life treats you and all of your employees well!

Experiencia negativa: I brought in 3 complete systems plus Mario Odyssey switch game, 7 Wii games and 5 Playstation. I was given $150, they will make double that on systems alone such a rip off racket. I thought a smaller store would be more honest. The store had very little mer handise. I won't be selling or shopping there ever again! To your response, is that why the two employees joked openly in front of my friend and I about another employee ripping someone off when that person was selling?

Experiencia negativa: I've been to the store about half a dozen times, and every single time they could only offer to order what I was looking for. And these were basic things like an N64 AC adapter or a PS2 memory card. I can order these things offline myself. I spent $30 on a an N64 controller that they guy had to clean with Windex before handing to me because it was covered in gunk, then I found out it has a loose joystick that became unusable within a day of getting it home. Just order your stuff offline. It'll be cheaper, it'll actually be in stock, and you won't waste any gas just to leave empty-handed

The only thing I docked a star for was that nobody offered to help me in the store, nobody greeted me, or even gave eye contact, until I was greeted at the counter to be helped by that man. I had actually stood near the counter as two or three employees were around there, talking amongst themselves or maybe with another customer, and I felt a bit awkward standing there as I waited a few minutes until being helped. But the employee who ended up helping me was great. It seems like maybe he was in the back before that? (My visit was about a month ago, but since you want me to actually take the time, here is my review).

And the PS2 that I’ve had for about a year still works like a charm? For the great price, solid selections and the friendly customer service if you’re a retro gamer this is the place to go.

Experiencia positiva: Their new location is in a nicer area in the store is much larger but it can be difficult getting in and out of the parking lot. Right now things with video games are odd and a lot of people are doing more collecting and less selling. Some days you’ll come in and there’s all sorts of new cool items and other days they don’t have a whole lot. Not really their fault it just depends on what people are wanting to sell.

Experiencia fantástica: I want to say thank you to the staff at Matt's game exchange for taking care of my 11 classic PS1 games that needed to be resurfaced and polished. My classic games in total are worth over $2,000 to collectors. If you need any kind of disc repairs, Matt's game exchange is the first place that should come to mind. The staff was friendly, professional, and had a vast knowledge of video game history. Went there to have a PS2 looked at for repair, they ended up being able to save my original system and had a replacement I also went ahead and bought for the den. Eric, went above and beyond to fix my system and made sure it was running properly before I left. Their game selection changes regularly and every time I've visited so far, I've left with at least one new game for my collection. In addition to fixing systems and selling games, they also have newer generation and retro consoles available for purchase at a fair price compared to what I've seen online for the same systems. Will definitely be going back!
