Experiencia negativa: I bought what was supposed to be a brand new controller for $10 more than a used one would have been, just to discover that I had been sold an old one anyway. On top of that, the controller doesn’t even work due to poor handling and improper verification. I thought brick and mortar stores were supposed to be more dependable than websites such as Facebook Marketplace, but I probably would have been better off spending my money elsewhere.
Experiencia negativa: I visited this location on 11/29/24 during the Black Friday Sale. I purchased 3 Nintendo switch games, and 1 was free. Two games were pre-owned, and the other two were new. They didn't put the free game on the receipt. I trusted the staff that the games were in the cases, so I didn't look, which I blame myself for not checking. It was a gift for my child bday. The day of my child bday, he opens the games in 1 of the games where not in the cases. I have been calling this location to resolve the issue and keep getting the runarounds, I still have my receipt also. CHECK YOUR GAMES IF THEY ARE PRE-OWNED BEFORE LEAVING THIS LOCATION ! I will never shop back at this location.
Experiencia negativa: I love how the website says open but it's 10:42 on 12/14/25 and they are closed. They mall was open at 9 am with nearly all the store open at 10 am. Definitely a poor business model for this Gamestop location.

Experiencia negativa: Me, my friend and my boyfriend went into Gamestop bc my boyfriend wanted a WalkingDead game (the last time me and my boyfriend were there, he couldn't buy it bc they told him you have to be 17 or older to buy it. He's 16). We went in there and my boyfriend asked if they had Call of Duty Black Ops 2. They do, but they said he has to be 17 to buy it. (He's still 16.) My friend and I are both 17 but they need proof of that. They asked for any ID (I'm the only one with am ID) so I gave them mine. Keep note that the white guy who works there (idk his name so I'm referring to him as that. He looked pissed) the black guy who works there is the one who refused to let my boyfriend buy TWD. There's also a girl there (white) she looked at my ID and said, "This could work." *side note:when we walked out, i got mad bc its like ofc it should work. Do they need more proof? My birth certificate?*(Obviously they gave it back to me) so the whole point of that is to find out who is 17 so that the 17 year old can buy COD, right? Wrong. My boyfriend, who is 16 (like I said), he paid for it. No one stopped him and said, "no, the 17 year old has to pay for it" he paid for it. So what was the whole point?

Experiencia negativa: Tried to purchase probably over $200 worth of collectibles today just for the girl at the counter to tell us “that was last weeks sale”. The signs were everywhere. Won’t shop there again it’s a shame. And people wonder why online shopping is so much better. This place can kick rocks.

This store is one of the reasons that GameStop doesn’t have a good name. Don’t go here. Unless you want to walk out feeling bad. A few days ago I was about to buy a game but the employee made me feel so bad that I walked out without buying anything.

Experiencia negativa: The associate (Bryant I believe his name was?) was very helpful and understanding but the supervisor had a berating attitude and tone. They sold my pre-order before I could pick it up (I was within 48 hrs of the game release) and am still seeking resolution for this incident. The manager Tracey had unacceptable behavior even after I asked him to take his tone down. This incident is the final straw after being a member for nearly 12 years. I cannot recommend shopping specifically this location.
Experiencia fantástica: This was the only local store that had the Nintendo switch game my son wanted. Staff was super helpful and friendly. I will be coming back for my other gaming needs for sure.
Experiencia negativa: This is a very small store with a poor selection. What a wasted opportunity being in such a great mall! This is the only gaming store around and it is in a small space and it is so cramped with more than 3 people in there.

Experiencia positiva: The staff there were not very friendly and they were talking about race and politics loud enough for the whole (small) store to hear. I certainly don't want to hear about that at GameStop. The gadget selection was ok. They did have a couple of things I was looking for. I'm actually glad they are still in the mall, it's a very convenient location for me.
Experiencia fantástica: Employees are super nice, welcoming, and hilarious to converse with. I walked in just browsing, and got into a great conversation with the cashier here who was ensuring I was able to find what I was looking for. Ended up walking out with a preorder for one of my anticipated October releases and some great recommendations for other games to try outside of the store! Overall great experience, excited to return to this location to pick up my preorder.
Experiencia positiva: Not really an ideal location unless you are already at the mall and the shop is small and almost always crowded but on the upside the people that work there are great and they have some things you cant find at other gamestops.

Charged my credit card multiple times for one order, didn’t have a game in stock that they told me should be there (literally in the store), and don’t care about customers. Use Amazon or Walmart - cheaper and better customer care!
Experiencia negativa: Very helpful group. Came here to trade in an Xbox one, some controllers and games. They wouldn't take one of my controllers because they claimed it was slow (hadn't used it in a while, but I never had a single issue with it ever.... felt a little cheated here, but that's Gamestop). I'm really here more to critique the guys working there. I'm not a massive "GAMER" but I know the ins and outs of some game politics. I got into a discussion about the Diablo incident and the guys behind the counter were just very abrasive. I couldn't get a word in edge wise. I was listening to these guys talk and it was very clear they were promoting the brand. Maybe it was their God-honest opinion, but I won't come back here because they were just so aggressive with me when talking about this. Plus, one of the guys wasn't even doing anything, he was just standing there talking with a long line of customers. I get having a healthy debate, and you can disagree, but I couldn't even complete a whole sentence. I would say something like "Well, Diablo kinda hyped it up and..." then I would get interrupted with "NAH, THE FANS ARE A BUNCH OF CRY BABIES WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT." Mind you, both admitted they didn't play Diablo. Customer awareness is important and these guys didn't sell me on that.
Experiencia fantástica: For it to be the day after Christmas and being located in the Avenue's mall, the store was very organized in handling the many customers coming in to shop.
Experiencia negativa: Well bought a head phone exactly 3 days ago and purchased the insurance with it. Was returning it for another one since the somewhat flimsy connector broke off. The manager Ameen said he'd give me another head set but said he would have to charge me for insurance again and the he wouldn't not transfer it over from my initial purchase. He shouldn't had been focusing on the insurance anyway. It's only been 3 days so why would he think he needed to use my insurance to replace it to begin with? We debated back and forth but he decided that pissing me off and giving back my full amount was easier than just doing the right thing. Additionally, he grabbed his phone to call security on me. It's quite silly that he would go to these lengths and force me to go to Best Buy over this. Needless to say he ended up refunding me the WHOLE amount. He obviously did not understand that refunding me the entire amount has the exact same outcome, cause I just could have bought it again right there on the spot. The manager truly showed his inability/experience to handle this simple situation. Will never go back again.

Experiencia positiva: Just walking by in the Avenues Mall high end mall on the Southside Southside Boulevard you have Sears you have the game shop great for children of all ages next to Dillards on the d section of the mall quick fix highly-skilled technicians for Jewelry and Watch Repair they're very very efficient professional technician their prices are reasonable for the high skill or work that they perform the Stafford is fantastic and don't go anywhere else that's the place your community guide Joe fundonald
Experiencia negativa: They had about 8 customers in store not counting myself. They had a guy using store credit and they then tied up 1 register and refused to suspend transaction . only wanted to use 1 register. Other cashier who was ringing up guests even told the 2nd cashier to suspend . he then said he did not want to. Small location refusing to suspended the person who was wanting store credit who was still shoping and oblivious to others. Rude seevice. I dropped items I was going to buy. Kin total lost 75 in sales will never return to this location

Experiencia negativa: Closed early. The teenagers running the place wouldn't let us in the store because they were closing soon. Was trying to spend birthday money in the store, but I'll just go online. Hate to do that, but it's cheaper anyway.
Experiencia positiva: It I well organized shop. It has an assortment of different games. I was only interested in call of duty. The shop was not overcrowded although the avenues and mall itself was very busy with the four day tax free sales. It is an easy store to just drop into for quick purchases. It is easy to access the store from the mall entrance from Dillard's. The staff was very helpful.
Experiencia negativa: This is the worst store in Jacksonville. I wad born here 22 years ago and have not received worse service fro. a store of anykind. if I could give them a 0 I would. Dont trade anything in here or get anything refurbished. The items they give out are in such low quality its almost unbelievable. Their workers all are low class, unhelpful with problems. I have been sold more faulty items from this gamestop than all my other years of gaming combined. The worst part of the Avenues mall and that's saying something. I will throw a party when gamestop goes out of buissness because of my interactions with this one in particular
Experiencia fantástica: We love GameStop my son goes there and purchases games all the time and all of his game systems pretty much came from there new and used and he always loves going back even the use games we've never had a problem hardly maybe one may be scratched here and there but we bring them back and they give us a new one but other than that we love it.

They always seem to pack such a gigantic selection in a very small space, just taking one step to the left or right will get you a whole new wall of selections. The squad they employ to work the counters are always packed full of knowledge of release dates, game recommendations, console requirements, and even cheat codes!! I'm never dissapointed.. unless my wife tells me its time to leave....

This review has nothing to do with the company as a whole, but more specifically the staff at this location.... as most reviews should be. Though before I continue, I will say at NO fault of their own... it's a really small and awkward space... sometimes almost on an uncomfortable level - even if a LITTLE busy. ANYWAYS.... Love the staff here! They make due with their awkward, tiny, and strangely shaped space. Even with awkward lines with how their counter is in contrast to their doorway... they always go out of the way to honestly (not robotic, or scripted) greet people and do their best to help them out... that can't be said for many game stores. Very helpful, and Understanding.

Experiencia negativa: Quite a small location, which means it feels cramped if a small number of people are in the store. I bought a used controller; when I opened the packaging, it was in horrible condition (with regard to cleanliness). It looked like they bought someone’s controller and put it right in a bag to sell. Even if GameStop had it for a long time, dust accumulation doesn’t explain the condition it was in.
Experiencia fantástica: Had issue with my powerups rewards that was ongoing for a while. An employee took my information and personally saw to it despite it not being their responsibility (usually have to call into customer service department). I repaid the favor by cancelling a few preorders on Amazon and placing them with gamestop instead and picking up a used Xbox One that I have been holding off on waiting for Project Scorpio and a PS4 Pro, but with the rewards fixed, it made the decision easier to just snag one up now.
Experiencia negativa: I have a good history with this GameStop; however, today I got a game there (Batman: Arkham Origins for the Xbox 360) and when I went home to actually play it, the case was empty! There was only the game manual in there. Since I paid in cash and threw away the receipt, I have no way to return it or get the actual game. Just goes to show that you should check whatever you buy before you get it.

Experiencia negativa: They were advertising PS4 controllers for 20$ off for black friday, and they guy refused to discount the controller as advertised. I also tried to get Diablo III PS3 for $9.99 as advertised and the guy refused again because he said it was only for new copies. The amount of incompetence shown to me was degrading. I will never shop at this GameStop again.
