Our comment from Padel.us about GameStop:
GameStop: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Stas was the coolest associate I've met at this location in a long time. Excellent customer service!
Negative experience: I went there with my 7 year old son on Saturday. I know absolutely nothing about gaming so I count on people who work at these stores to know SOMETHING. Two people were working there- one who kept saying he was new and knew absolutely nothing about anything and another who was able to answer simple questions. I purchased the meta quest - asked questions and got very vague answers … left and got home and tried to set it up. Turns out my son has to be 10 to even use it. There was no way for me to know this without opening it and turning it on and being prompted to set up a meta account. I called to see if I could exchange it for something he could use and asked why someone in that store didn’t know that my son has to be 10 to use it… I was met with “it’s not our job to know everything about everything we sell, if you ask us certain questions we can look it up for you.” And was told that it’s too bad, it’s their policy that they won’t take it back no exceptions. The guy that answered wouldn’t hear me out- he didn’t apologize, honestly could care less. The device with tax was almost 700$. BUY STUFF ON AMAZON or go to TARGET next door and get it there. You may not get answers but at least you can return it if it serves to be unusable because of Incompetent people who literally work at a store that only sells games and gaming consoles yet knows absolutely nothing about what they are selling. I will never ever walk into one of these stores again. They will soon be phased out and I’ll be happy to see the doors close.
Fantastic experience: Greate service, I found Warhammer toys!
Negative experience: I had an employee who was not only condescending but made a super snarky comment at the store in the pavilions in Scottsdale Dud not catch his name, but he had a beard and bald head. Not impressed. I have worked in the customer service industry long enough…. He doesn’t treat people how they should. Sorry we didn’t want to sign up for the monthly subscription. That’s what set him off.
Negative experience: Gamestop just go ahead and either close the doors on this location or throw out the staff and start over because they aren’t doing you guys any favors.. yesterday Feb 26th 2026 I went online and saw GameStop now buys psa graded slabs, and were offering a fair amount for my PSA 10 Squirtle IR from Stellar Crown. So I went to the closest location to me on 3833 E Thomas Rd and i presented the slab and there was a young lady working the register who was really nice and simply just told me her manager never trained her on how to process slabs and that he would be in at 2:30pm, at the time it was like 12 o clock. So I said no worries and decided to come to this location in Scottsdale. I enter and a gentleman comes out from the back, I believe the “manager” of the store and he starts to go through the examination process of the Psa slab; he looked annoyed to be doing it from the start and he starts to examine the slab and then right off the bat he’s like “nope can’t take it” I asked why and he said it’s not passing the black light test.. I look at the slab and it’s 100% authentic but the dudes using a black light in bright daylight like a idiot and can’t see the hologram.. and I instantly got the impression he just didn’t wanna go through the hassle.. I ask him to provide a example of what it’s supposed to look like and he says he has no other slabs to prove it, so I said oh ok.. and I move forward by pointing out the hidden print along the top and he’s like yeah that looks right but if it doesn’t show up I can’t take it.. so I take my slab, go to the nearest auto shop and get my own black light.. and low and behold it shows up as you can see in the photos below.. ultimately the dude was either poorly trained with a black light or didnt want to do his job and in result is costing the company potential profit.. It comes down to this.. poor training.. ps poor effort and lack of care.. a recipe for a failed business. Your losing money because of these kind of employees and you need to stop the bleeding. I drove for over a hour yesterday from GameStop to GameStop to be turned down because your store manager wanted to jump back on his phone to play crossy roads.. start from the top and clean house.. trust me this isn’t another angry customer, this is a warning to save your business.
Positive experience: This location has a great selection of games however the guy who was working today was fairly rude and had an attitude. He asked if I wanted to sign up for the membership and I said no thank you. He then proceeded to try and persuade me to buy the membership and made a dumb comment “so you’d rather pay full price” when the game was already HALF OFF. No I don’t want to spend extra money to save $5 when I’m already saving 50% Anyways it was a weird interaction and I don’t think it’s cool to try and sell people things they politely declined. Thanks for the game though.
Fantastic experience: The new store manager Stas, is wonderful! Very helpful and attentive, if you need it. Store was looking great with lots of sports cards, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, etc! A ton of the card collecting accessories like penny sleeves, slab protectors, card boxes. Found it cool that I could thumb through some singles of Pokemon too Video games and trading cards, take my money…
Negative experience: My purchase went great. Had to go back because the system had a problem. The person that helped knew nothing about a nintendo switch. I dont advise shopping here.
Fantastic experience: Went today (friday) because we needed an SD card and the employee working there (didn’t get his name but he had long curly hair) couldn’t have been nicer and more willing to help. We will definitely be coming back to this location whenever we look for anything game related ☺️
Negative experience: Nope. It is not surprising that your brick and mortar locations went out of business, unfortunate that this is the one that remained, because the Desert Ridge location, although a further drive, was far superior. My sons picked out several items, and I stood at the counter waiting to pay. The clerk appeared ready to assist me when another customer walked in and blurted out a question. What SHOULD have happened is the clerk ringing up my sale so I could leave. What did happen was he walked over to the guy, who inquired about an item. Clerk looks in the computer, takes about five minutes looking and not finding what he wanted. Proceeds to walk past me to the back of the store, and goes in the back room. I wait. And wait. At this point I've decided we will spend what would have been around a $100 sale elsewhere. He finally comes out as we are leaving and makes sure to call out snidely, "Have a lovely day!" LOL, ok. We did. Clearly helping a mom check out with her kids was not as high a priority as helping a guy who came in well after we were already waiting at the counter. Side note - I have been a gamer my whole life, stream, the whole bit. We used to shop with you a ton, but we won't be going to that location ever again.
Fantastic experience: Matthew is a godsend!! He is very attentive and courteous, helped explain patiently. Appreciate him very much and his hard work.
Fantastic experience: Matthew was absolutely amazing today! My son is going through Chemotherapy, and has been asking for a Switch 2. We told him he would have to wait until Christmas, but he decided he wanted to trade a bunch of games and systems to try to pay for it on his own. While he was at treatment today, I brought all of his things into the store to trade. Matthew was so patient and kind and went out of his way to make sure everything would work for the trades and purchase. My son got his Switch 2 today! His spirits are lifted and he’s so very happy! Thank you, Matthew!
Fantastic experience: Very Attentive, Responsive, and Truthful to customers! They care to talk to you about your gaming needs and give feedback on potential games your hesitating on purchasing and give you honest feedback if it’s worth the purchase or not. Happy to shop here and looking forward to my next visit
Positive experience: Need more retro games
Fantastic experience: Great Staff, always have what im looking for. Call ahead for newer Pokemon sets, they go quick!
Fantastic experience: Long live the Atari age.
Fantastic experience: Great as always
Fantastic experience: Ross completely helped me purchase gifts, his Knowledge and experience was over the top! Can't recommend enough
Fantastic experience: Great service the kid knows his stuff.
Fantastic experience: I love gamestop I get all my games from them and the game informer magazine subsciption.
Fantastic experience: I’m so happy this GameStop is still open. ❤️ I grew up down the road and got all my childhood games here. So nostalgic. I hope they NEVER close!
Fantastic experience: Found exactly what I was looking for and the employee was very kind and helpful.
Negative experience: Called in tonight to see if they had a PlayStation vr2 available which they did. They even stayed open for me I showed up five minutes before closing. The person at the register mentioned that the vr2 are made with paper seals now and it may appear to look opened but it isn’t. I was so excited to have the vr2 I said sure and took it home with out paying attention especially since GameStop is supposed to be a legitimate company. When I got home I released he sold me a used vr2 for the full amount I will be attempt f to replace it with an unopened item. If GameStop fights I will most likely have to contact my credit card company and file a complaint because what you have done to me is stolen money and I don’t appreciate that at all GameStop. I will also never conduct business ever again with you GameStop unbelievable.
Fantastic experience: Today I decided to get a switch for my birthday. I only did a little bit of research and was not completely “educated” about switches lol. However, when I walked into this game stop I was greeted by Ross with a warm welcoming smile. From there, he continued to help me by providing his own input about the switch, as well as different games I could play. Ross was so unbelievably helpful and I am so happy with all my purchases. Thank you Ross!!! :)
Fantastic experience: Ross and Brooke gave us the most informative and pleasant experience ever, especially with helping us transition from PS4 to PS5 gaming and all the perk we can get being a GameStop member. Thank you so much for everything!
Fantastic experience: Josh is amazing! So helpful, knowledgeable and patient. While we were in the store, he was harassed by a middle aged man that spoke to him so poorly because the corporate pricing model didn’t reflect what he thought he deserved for his old Xbox. Our jaws were practically on the floor due to this customer’s mocking, foul language, and downright disrespectful behavior. Despite all of this, Josh handled himself so well and proceeded to help us out directly afterwards. I never write reviews, but he deserves one! You’re a rockstar, Josh!
Fantastic experience: This GameStop actually still sells retro stuff which is really surprising and it’s the only game stuff I’ve seen in recent years that does this so that’s pretty cool
Fantastic experience: Ross was amazing and had great customer service as well as sales technique
Positive experience: Nice sales person who knew his topics and merchandise. Very expensive though.
Fantastic experience: Just got a PS5 on Black Friday. There wasn't even a line.
Fantastic experience: Staff is always nice and helpful. Good variety of games and Funko pops.
Fantastic experience: Every time I walk inside I feel welcome. Staff is amazing and treat me like family. Even if I walk out with nothing I always leave with a great mood thanks to the staff. Great shop
Fantastic experience: Great service
Negative experience: This place is the worst. Consistently slow. Never have anything. Buying a video game should be in-and out, like buying a candy bar at a convenience store. Not a 30 minute affair. Late stage signs of a dieing business model.
Negative experience: The customer service at this location was horrible. After purchasing a Funko Pop, I noticed damage to the box and asked to switch it out for another one in better condition. The cashier proceeded to laugh in my face and showed the other cashier the damage and said it’s whatever. I asked the cashier if it was an issue to switch it out since he was laughing. Why is laughing at a customer accepted.
Fantastic experience: Good games funny games
Fantastic experience: I love this Game Stop. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I frequently shop here for video games and nerd merch
Positive experience: I like their place it has a lot of games like Wii, Wii u, Xbox,PlayStation 2, 3 and 4 and lots of games.
Fantastic experience: Employees were friendly.
Fantastic experience: Went in for a bday gift for an 8 year old lover of 'Fortnite' and walked away very happy. The very informative staff helped me find what I wanted, upsold other items and was overall very helpful. Seems like the company is on a great trajectory and very customer oriented. Overall, was a great experience.
Fantastic experience: I love having the membership! This site was super clean and lots of selections for Nintendo switch games.
Fantastic experience: WE LIKE THE STOCK
Fantastic experience: Had what i needed, staff very helpful, answerd my question, made sure I understood what their answer was. Would go back.
Negative experience: What made it awful was that the employee was more concerned with talking on his cell phone rather than assisting me. I felt unwelcome there and left.
Negative experience: I received an email where it saying "ready for pick-up", i went to the store and surprise, there's a sign on the door that says "temporarily closed" i tried to call and nothing, i sent email to the customer service and still waiting and I received an email that my order is ready. Google and gamestop.com says its open. This sucks!!
Fantastic experience: Zak has always been extremely helpful and really patient when I go in there, I might not always get what I need everytime but I always leave with all of the information and I couldn't ask for anything else
Fantastic experience: Friendly service and fast. Found a Sonic game I was looking for.
Negative experience: This his petty but you should have updated your hours. If not here, at least on your website.
Fantastic experience: It is always nice going to this GameStop alone compared to the others I always leave with new things
Positive experience: The largest and brightest Game Stop location I have been into.
Positive experience: The lady working was super helpful and handling several things at once, but she was the only one there. They seemed understaffed especially considering they have a big sale going on.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Big selection to choose from.
Fantastic experience: Great location! I got the chance meet matt today. He is a manager there. He helped me find a few things for my brothers birthday on Sunday. He knows his stuff and is a pleasure to talk with ! Thanks for all the help an making the gift getting a price of cake.!
Fantastic experience: A typical Gamestop, but the employees were very nice and helpful making the over all experience very pleasant.
Fantastic experience: Great deals to be had here, friendly staff too!
Positive experience: Still at it fun to look around
Positive experience: Ok store reasonably priced
Positive experience: Very good clerk, was very helpful. Almost bought the wrong kind of disk. She told me it wouldn't work in the player I've got. Will be going back.
Fantastic experience: Big selection, friendly staff
Negative experience: Very disappointed I pre-ordered some Fortnite Funko POP’s. I stopped in today and I was told that they forgot to call me to pick up my order and that they pushed them out to the floor and were purchased... I keeped checking the status on my order and I was assured that they will call me and that it was unaseptible for them not to call me.
Fantastic experience: 1 guy waiting on us was horrible, too wrapped up in talking to security guard and on his phone, other guy was super helpful
Fantastic experience: Good games
Fantastic experience: It was great. They were helpful with playstation corda even though i didnt buy fron them. Great salesmen
Fantastic experience: Loved the manager of the place. She was extremely helpful and nice. Great store, clean and very big. Thx for all the help.
Fantastic experience: Great store and prices even on pre- owned games
Positive experience: Not sure why you dont offer gamepades (controllers) for mobile devices.
Fantastic experience: Love GameStop
Fantastic experience: Great costumer service
Fantastic experience: Dudes are always fast n cool
Positive experience: Went to buy a used game for my kid. Over priced and crowded. Not a fan, I prefer digital downloads.
Fantastic experience: I stopped in for the first time in a decade and was incredibly impressed with the service I received. I'm not a big gamer and was shopping for someone else, so needless to say, I was a bit lost. The lady working today really help me figure out everything and made some great recommendations, as well as found everything I couldn't find for me. A+ for sure!
Negative experience: I found a couple decent copies of used games here. The store was neat, tidy, and clean. The advertisements are loud, overbearing, and irrelevant to most anybody shopping here, your staff in any location seem depressed. Please stop asking if I want to buy protection on used copies of last gen games, and if I want to renew my rewards card which used to mean something, now it just saves you from markup on used copies. You're days are numbered. eBay and Amazon is the way to go on newer games for gifts grandma and grandpa. Don't trade anything in sell or trade it on offer up kids. The deluxe edition sets are worthless after they sell, I can't give the extra stuff away if I sell the game, and the digital codes are single use. GameStop triples their income on your hardware and games. Pawn shops don't even abuse you this badly. I occasionally find a hard to find used game in a GameStop and grab it. Don't fall for their sales pitches, some of their "bundle deals" end up costing you more than buying each thing individually. I'll hand it to GameStop for being good at taking your hard earned money and giving you pennies on trade in on bad product, and turning it around for profit multiple times over.
Positive experience: Great enthusiastic team! Very knowledgeable, and helpful!
Negative experience: There's an old adage: the customer is always right. The staff here has never heard of it.
Positive experience: Helpful customer service, fast reliable store, kinda small, decently clean and decently priced items. Etc
Fantastic experience: I always find a deal on used games, and have always had a wonderful experience with employees either shooting the breeze, or asking for assistance with anything. I do appreciate the honesty I have been privy to from a few employees when asking about certain titles (good or bad) for my consoles... Nothing like spending good money on a terrible game.
Negative experience: Came to buy 2 headset. The guy at first was nice but when i was checking out he asked what they were for and i said a gift and he took off the price tags and when i told him he didn't have to do that because I would be making sure they worked because of the reviews i saw he said i am taking them off because there are two different prices and i had asked why wore they more expensive here then when i got a set else where he claimed it was taxes and i told him the price before tax price was more and he said again its taxes. I go a lot to game stop for things but i will never be back because he seemed upset that i questioned him.
Negative experience: Came all across the valley to buy a PS4 just to get home and have the charge cable broken....thanks once again
Fantastic experience: Ausma was amazing. She helped me find everything I need!
Positive experience: It's was cool! Was the longest time I spent in Game Stop! Great customer service, helpful, informationally and witty. It was a good time!
Negative experience: Walked in here at about 11:30 am to trade in a bunch of games. The lady at the counter couldn't be bothered to help me at all. Whether it was an all night bender or whatever she just wasn't having it. I was patient with her but after just standing there with not a single other soul in the store or any sort of acknowledgement I had to speak up. "so....uh....are you ready for me?" I asked "Yeah, I guess" was the response I got Back. She proceeded to shut down any small talk I tried to have with her. Never have I felt like more of a burden for doing absolutely nothing. Will not return and I hope that they change up their act.
Fantastic experience: Fun stuff lots of sales today
Positive experience: Nice management and employees, my only complaint is that it's Gamestop. "You have 12 games a ps4 and an Xbox one? The most I can give you is $3.50"
Fantastic experience: I feel like I'm home
Negative experience: Terrible customer service. Inattentive employees.
Positive experience: Friendly staff that know what they're doing.
Positive experience: Always helpful when we go there.
Fantastic experience: dope place been going there for years
