Negative experience: Steer clear of GameScalp for basically anything but the clearance socks. They charge absolutely insane above MSRP prices for Pokemon TCG products, and the people who work there are extremely rude, if they stop their phone conversation long enough to notice you at all.

Negative experience: Drove all the way to the mall, got to gamestop at 7:40pm and the employee had already closed the doors and didn’t let us in even though the hours state open until 8pm. If your hours are going to say you’re open until 8. Be open until 8, why are the employees closing 20-25 minutes early. She was just sitting inside the store on her phone as well.

Fantastic experience: Pretty fair prices, not too bad. I bought a brand new PowerA wired controller for my Xbox Series S from here for about $38 and it's worked very well! No button double-clicking and very minimal but almost not even noticeable stick drift, not even an issue at all. Taken very good and clean care with the PowerA Series controller and I have always enjoyed using it honestly. Thank you guys for the pretty fair price on that brand new controller, I have always loved it. The one I bought was the one with the Strawberry Lemonade outer color.

Negative experience: Went to get a card graded and the dude said it would take him an hour to learn and submit a SINGLE card!! Said they was about to close in 20 mins and couldnt do anything for nobody but sit on his phone. Wish i recorded it all

Negative experience: Went in to gamestop at merle hay today and let me tell you how disappointed I was today. For starters the store was unorganized and unprofessional. Secondly the staff seemed rude. I wanted to trade in some games and the cute lady with glasses kept asking for my ID which idk why you need that for a trade. But if I get the chance I'll ask her later this week if she wants to go get some food together or go see a film.

Fantastic experience: Staff were very welcoming and friendly. They reminded me about their services but weren't persistent which was very welcome. With service like this I could see myself getting a GameStop pro membership on my next visit. Aggressive selling for services has made me reluctant to go to GameStops as of late - If a customer says no several times yet your still trying to push product they have established they have no interest in, it will push customers away.

Negative experience: I love GameStop but this store is a tremendous disappointment. This store has always had issues but 2023 it seemed like it was getting better as the store was getting stock, it was organized, and it felt like it was finally being professionally run. Even with its issues pre-2023, I have NEVER seen it as bad as it is in 2024. It looks like a messy garage sale. Stuff is dumped everywhere, insanely disorganized, and incredibly mismanaged. With it being pro-week, I went to see what deals might be available and it was incredibly frustrating. Beyond the wildly messy and disorganized chaos, the pricing was impossible. I buy a ton at GameStop (Jordan Creek being my favorite store) so I know what I should expect and this store is unbelievable. For example, yellow tags indicate clearance, red means markdown, white is a new product/regular price, and I don't even know what blue is for but this store uses blue too and there's no rhyme or reason for any of it. You've got regular priced items on clearance, markdown, and new item tags, you have clearance items on regular, markdown and, and clearance price tags, and all of the above on the illusive and unknown blue price tags. I snapped pictures specifically to illustrate the disastrous state of this stores pricing structure. I've never seen such a poorly run business in my life, which is incredibly disappointing since it seemed in 2023 the management was making an effort to turn it around. I don't know what changed from last year but corporate seems to have totally given up on this location at this point. Why not just close this store if you care so little about your customers? It's disrespectful to those that shop in that mall. I won't be shopping there anymore myself. I will stick entirely to Jordan Creek or maybe one of the other professionally managed stores.

Negative experience: I can not express how frustrated I am by this location/company and district manager. I purchased the coverage plan on a meta quest 2 through game stop. Had a couple of exchanges due to issues continued to repurchase the coverage plan. Now less than 6 months after my last replacement the company refuses to replace like for like, would not allow me to upgrade and pay the difference or refund the difference to go to a unit with less storage on the 2. I can't even get the district manager to call me back or the store manager at a different location. I will no longer purchase stuff from this company.

Negative experience: I went there and told them I wanted to buy nba 2k 23 for my Xbox series S, and when I went to the counter to buy it, I asked them “can a Xbox series X game get installed through a Xbox series S?” And they took 25 minutes to respond just to say yes. And when we bought it and went home, I tried to get the game to my Xbox series S and it didn’t work. They scammed me with this and I defintly don’t recommend going here.

Negative experience: One thing I don't like about this place. I hardly believe they test the xbox controllers. I'm on my fifth one bought and having to take it in cuz my triggers don't respond to the controller anymore (I have had this pre-owned controller for 8 days). They provide great customer service (when they are there) and get me a new one. I'm just sick of having to go into this store over and over for a controller to bring home with stick drift.

Negative experience: Called to get some information on how GameStop works with trade ins, wanted a ball park idea of how much cash to bring so I can hit the ATM, Kind of rude answering questions I didn't even ask in the middle of myself trying to ask a whole different question lol try listening before speaking. Yes Karen an Xbox one does not match the price of a PS5 I'm sure you had to learn that from training, but it's common knowledge. Just wanted to know a range of what the difference can look like with your prices and value points. I wish there was a video games ect in Des Moines. Game stop employees always are miserable. That kind of conversation will drive business away, as she probably wishes since having a business conversation was such a burden

Fantastic experience: I have children who are gamers so I can't come to this store and not buy anything. Most of the time I shop here I have no clue what I am looking for and my son or daughters have simply given me the name of a game they're wanting, they are so good about explaining the ratings on those games to me so I can choose whether or not I'll actually purchase those for my kids when I ask. They are also great at helping me find gifts when I am in there shopping for games for gifts for my kids when I haven't been told what to purchase prior to being there. I have never had an issue with staff not knowing their video games/gaming systems so it's a great place to gain knowledge from a very knowledgeable staff. They almost always have what I'm looking for and if not can look in their computer system and can tell me where I can go to find what I'm looking for. My kids love coming here! Some may say, it's a family affair! We love this store!

She suggested Jays CD Warehouse and Hobby or what not. (Jist around the corner in the same mall). Negative experience: Went there on a Saturday around 4:25pm and the employee was behind the counter on his phone, lights were off and doors locked. No “on break” or “closed until ____” sign. They’re lucky we needed to go to other stores within the mall. This has also happened a couple times in the past year we’ve lived in this area.

Negative experience: Pre-ordered MW2 worked late didn't make it release day showed up next day nobody came to work so they were closed for the day then when I pick it up they tell me it's an online order instead of Pre-order and wouldn't give me the character (the only reason I Pre-ordered it!) Safe to say I'll buy my games from target or Walmart for now done shopping at game stop. And when I ordered it online the advertisement was for the free guy was the main header of the page! Bad business lost a lifetime customer over a free character

Negative experience: I just bought a NES game, the kid said was new. His reason for the game not having plastic on it was because It was a display case but yet there was a different display case on the shelf. He put a sticker over the opening so they would know if it was opened. After I opened it I noticed scratch marks on the connectors proving the game was used before. They’re liars most likely so they can get new prices for used games and not have to hold up to their used games policy. Gives GameStop a bad name. Beware of their ripoff tricks

Positive experience: 4 stars only because there seems to only ever be one person working. Bought an Xbox One X at a different store because it was the Gears package (1TB One X and all the Gears games) and it was a $100 cheaper than just the One X. Took my old gen1 Xbox One to Gamestop the next day, traded in for $100 store credit and used that to buy $100 worth of Microsoft gift cards, them bought a bunch of games during the xbox Black Friday sale. 5/5 planning on my part. Although there is usually only one person working when I go and sometimes they are really busy, the employees are always very helpful and polite.
