Fantastic experience: Brought in my Sega Master System from 1985 for a tune-up. Patrick replaced all the capacitors and fixed a power problem, and he did it within the timeframe and estimated cost. I’m now able to relive my 10-year-old glory as a fortysomething. Really appreciate the time and follow-through. Thanks Pat!!

Negative experience: I have gone here multiple times over the past years and they seemed to never have any video game inventory. The games they did have were a bit overpriced and the presentation of the store wasn’t the best but I understand it is a small space. Fast forward to a few days ago. I decided to stop by after seeing that they’ve been getting a decent amount of games in and I wanted to give them another chance. I walked in and was met with a complete mess of games on the floor, couches in the middle of the store with people blocking shelves and kids running around. Now I really do not understand why there are couches in such a small space, especially when it had people just sitting there on the phones not buying anything and just taking up room. It made it nearly impossible to shop and browse in there. Then the games; 60% of the games weren’t even priced and the guy just seemed to be price charting the games at checkout. Which in my opinion is a HORRIBLE practice and just lazy. Some games had prices on them but they weren’t even stuck onto the case and they just fell off as soon as I picked up the game. I see the huge amount of inventory stacked in front of the register and I understand that you can’t price it out yourself. But I mean you should be pricing them as they come in or take a day off to price them. Not stack them on the floor or just leave them unpriced on the shelf. The worker seemed completely overwhelmed with everything going on and I sympathize entirely but this store really needs a lot of work to do before I ever go there again. Not to mention the negative things I’ve been told by other people who have shopped here. There seems to be no love involved with this store, only profits.

Negative experience: The owner of this shop is one of the worst business owners I’ve ever come across. Any kind of criticism that comes this man’s way he will deflect in any way possible claiming that it hurts his “small business”, and that if you are not happy then you should shop somewhere else. How can you run & operate a business where you cannot take accountability for literally anything that is hurled your way. Like I would choose to shop here more just if once the business owner just accepted that he has temper issues and just accept he has some horrendous business strategies. In almost every other review that I read across that was in any way a negative experience for the customer, the owner finds any way to shift the blame on the customer, I know some people hate the saying the customer is always right but this is taking that to a whole new level but blaming all of the issues on customers even if they were doing the right thing. I do hope this business can pull around and do better but with never taking accountability and just saying sorry to some of the customers that will have a negative experience to try to make things better and at ease, I can’t say I would expect he business to go under as the state gets more expensive.

Fantastic experience: Updated 2025 review: Boom Boom has been my go to game store for the last four years! As a fan of all types of games, especially PC, Boom boom doesn't disappoint. With a wide variety of consoles, games, and memorabilia at great prices! I bought myst and some other PC games that came with alot of goodies at a great price! Boom Boom also has a variety of WWE memorabilia too! If you are looking for a fantastic local games, arcade, and memorabilia shop this is the place for you! My initial review was from 2021 and us below: Amazing videogame store & more! Very small building with very much inside! All types of games ranging from PlayStation 1-5, xbox original, 360, one, and even some new xbox series x stuff, sega dreamcast, saturn, CD, NES, SNES, and tons of handhelds. there's also a section with WWE action figures and memorabilia, as well as many star wars memorabilia and multiple types of movies!

Fantastic experience: They've always been so helpful finding wires or memory cards, whatever ive needed to play my retro consoles. Going into the store is great because there's always something new that I must have. Prices are really good- when i was in need of an AC adapter for my WII U, they had the wire with prices similar to gamestop and Amazon, not too mention the fact i could get it within the hour. The Easter egg hunt is our new family tradition. We've also participated in the smash tournaments they used to have, hope it comes back! Those were fun.

Negative experience: I will never return again as a customer. I had asked for them to call me when they received a pink Nintendo advance for sale, they took my info and said they would. I walked in this past week and saw one for sale on the shelf, and was reminded why I stopped going here. I frequently purchased a variety of console games here in the past. I stopped going because I didn’t like how the owner seems to yell all the time. I had bought a handheld console from there and it stopped working. I put it in for repair and had to call multiple times to see if it was finished. They eventually told me they found no damage, and couldn’t fix it. I really wanted to give this small business another try. What’s the point of a small business if they won’t contact you when your requested item becomes available for sale? Two stars because they have the largest local collect. That’s it. Edit: the owner responded and claims the yelling is due to poor employee performance. If that’s the case, then why is the owner yelling at his children while customers are in the store? I’m pro-family so it was really hard to shop while the owner is yelling at his kids. I wouldn’t have added this detail if the owner didn’t try to blame his temper on his employees. Edit 2: the owner is responding again, and so will I. Why would you clear the ISO lists every three months? That’s bad business. The owner clears the ISO lists but can search through purchase transactions to match google review authors? Seems odd to me. Also, the owner was yelling at his kids for nonsense reasons. It does not take an expert to recognize when his temper and attitude is excessive and outsized reaction to whatever situation he’s faced. It is really a shame he is claiming “trying to make ends meet” but they had expanded into a separate storefront for the arcade which seems to be a dilapidated dump. So many excuses for a small business. I’ll be sad, but understanding, when this goes under. Such a shame!

Fantastic experience: Big shout out to Boom Boom games! Our autistic daughter is obsessed with her 2DS and it had been through hell. The screen would no longer turn on. But they brought it back to life! Soooo reasonably priced. She is absolutely ecstatic. Highly recommend them. Also, the store is completely full of everything you could imagine. Negative experience: the seller sells non-original products at a high price. I do not recommend shopping here

Negative experience: I bought a game that had a label stating it was CIB. This means it is supposed to be a game that includes box, disc, and manual. Most people who collect games will only consider CIB. I am not as strict but it does affect the value as missing manual or box will obviously result in a lower purchase price. I got home and opened their seal- which they put on literally every box in the store so you can’t look at the disc or manual without breaking the seal which affects the ability to return the game. The game was scratched up (most other stores in the area will resurface upon inventory intake) and the manual was missing. The game was cheap enough that I’ll just accept the loss but I think the way they conduct business with their sealing is bizarre and deceitful. They have games for high price points and I only hope the information they put on those labels are accurate. There’s no positive reason to hide the condition of the game from the consumer. Even on eBay they’ll show pictures of the back of the disc. Not worth the gamble shopping here. Edit: I’m revising this review to a 1 star based on the nasty response. I left this review so the store can improve- not to be called names. Maybe if you learned to accept criticism instead of name calling people who have had bad experiences the store wouldn’t be constantly empty and inventory wouldn’t sit stale for years. Good luck.

The owner actually helped provide me with resources to research and evaluate my retro and vintage games, toys, and collectables so I could better understand their worth and market demand before attempting to sell. I understand the challenges small businesses face in just trying to keep their heads above water, never mind make a profit, and Boom Boom has always provided me with transparency and fairness, and I have never once felt taken advantage of. Great business, fair practices, and awesome environment to just be in to re-live the nostalgia of growing up in the 1970s through early 2000s. A+

Fantastic experience: I recently came to Boom Boom Games after signing up for a Mario Kart Live Circuit tournament that consisted of 8 players. I have to say, I haven’t had this much fun in a while. Zach was an absolute amazing host and the other players in the tournament were great to play with. A totally cool, welcoming atmosphere with so much space and activities to stay intrigued in the game while waiting for other players to take their turns. Although one person for the tournament didn’t show up, Zach- the host, had everything under control and things ran smoothly. They provided us with drinks and pizza on the house and were extremely transparent about rules and race expectations. I genuinely can’t wait for the next tournament because I know I’ll 100% want to be apart of it. Thank you Boom Boom games for the fun I had today, congrats to the first and second winner and to Zach- thank you for the hard work you put in for the tournament it was so much fun! Fantastic experience: Great place! The owner is very kind and passionate about the retro gaming industry, which shows in how much he puts in to the store. There’s always something new to look at, whether it be games, figures, consoles, cards, etc. There’s something for everyone. They even do trade ins which is really cool, since they’ll give you more than a penny and a single bit of string (like certain chain game stores) for that game you bought but didn’t end up liking. If you want a comfortable environment for some fun retro gaming shopping, go here. There really isn’t a place that’s better, in my opinion.

Fantastic experience: Great video game and hobby shop in Billerica, in Browns Corner. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and the store's fun to browse around. Store itself is on the small side, but it's easy to get around, and it has a lot of charm due to being full of cool stuff. Lots of retro game consoles, as well as more modern ones - I saw Switch, Wii/Wii U, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, X-Box, X-Box 360, X-Box One, Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, Master System, GBA, Game Boy, GBC, DS, 3DS, VR stuff, and others. Some cool collectable stuff as well, like a Valkyria Chronicles 4 box set, for example. Lots of unique peripherals and cables. I was able to find a pretty obscure GC-to-GBA connector cable by just asking the guy at the counter. There's video game-themed toys, snacks, drinks, and candy, as well as a section for wrestling hobby items and toys. There's some funko pops too, if you're into that kind of thing. Beyond that, I saw shirts, clothing, plushies, hot wheels, Pokemon cards, ninja turtles/jurassic part toys, posters, things like that. There was a cool rack of various Nintendo Power issues in the corner. I also saw some signs talking about a game space / arcade area, that might be coming in the future. Great shop, definitely plan to be back.
