GameStop: Reviews
Positive experience: Way more games than our local store but prices are a bit higher.
Fantastic experience: ✊ Don't you go nowhere GameStop. They done got Toys-R-Us and Blockbuster, they ain't gonna get you too.
Fantastic experience: Always have what I need
Fantastic experience: Eric & Kait were very kind and helpful helping me find some retro N64 games today as well as getting me a discount! I'll definitely be back!
Fantastic experience: My partner and I stopped in looking to purchase a pre-owned switch. Caleb was incredibly helpful and kind while we asked questions, and took the time to explain the promos they had that could benefit us. Thank you, Caleb and Nick!
Negative experience: Went to the store on Sunday to do a cash trade in / sale and the experience in the store itself was not bad. The transaction went through without many hitches and they were able to take most of what I gave at reasonable prices. The issue started when the idea of applying the membership was brought up. I was advised that for no additional charge, if I applied the pro membership to the transaction, I would receive more money on the final total. I confirmed with the associate 2 more times that I would not be charged and that the person who's name was on the account (I applied my cousin's account as he shops at the store and I knew he had a membership) would not be charged. Both times, the associate confirmed no charges would be applied. The total I was supposed to be given, as confirmed by the associate, was $206.54. When I got my receipt, they charged me for a $25.00 membership, which brought my trade in down to $181.54. When I went back into the store, I was told that there was nothing that they could do, so I should call customer support and they should be able to take care of it. I called customer support that day (Sunday, 9/21) and was advised that I needed to call back the following day because no one was available to help with canceling memberships. So I called back Monday, 9/22, and the person I spoke with advised she would send an email to follow up with everything. It took a few hours, so after not receiving something I sent in a support ticket through their website. After receiving the email I found that they said they would not refund as it was for a purchase on a membership. I explained again what happened, and they then included Venmo (as this is how we received the money on Sunday) and stated that Venmo would follow up. As of now, 9/23, Venmo has still not followed up. I received a response to my support ticket and they advised to me the same thing; that they would not refund the money since it went to purchasing a membership. I explained to them, again, that I was told applying the membership would be at no charge. In my response email, I expressed frustration and stated that I feel as though I had been lied to by the associate just so they could make a sale and that the false advertisement of this was unacceptable. All they had to say in response was that they would take the information and give it to their internal department and that they appreciated the feedback. So there is no resolution from this, still. I then called the store back and spoke with the associate I dealt with. I explained to them what happened and that I still had no resolution abd how frustrated I am. I originally took in this gaming equipment to cover costs of $3K in emergency vet bills, so while it's only $25, I still need that $25 and I have been scammed out of my money. All I was told by this associate was that there was nothing they could do, they didn't know why the computer charged me for the membership because it shouldn't have, and that even if I spoke with a manager there was nothing that they could do. Very, very disappointing. All I wanted to do was earn some money to help save my pet's lift, and all I get in return is scammed and told "oh well".
Negative experience: This is absolutely the worst game store in town. Unless you want to totally get ripped off. They give you $12 for a game and then charge $2 less than the new game. New GTA heritage $39 used is $37. Hell Walmart is cheaper. Go absolutely anywhere else.
Negative experience: Sold my Nintendo Switch + Mario Kart here and got a laughable $35. No receipt, cash only. Took the offer cuz I was desperate for gas money at the time. That being said if you like being lowballed, this is your place.
Fantastic experience: Loved the atmosphere
Positive experience: The staff is kind and helpful, and they stock the items you're looking for when you go into a place like GameStop. However, if you want to make a return, they demand that you present your ID to be scanned. I, personally, find that to be invasive and obstructive. If you're not sure whether the product you're buying is something you're going to keep, I'd encourage you to buy through someone else, like Video Games Headquarters.
Negative experience: Went in to get a game i wanted for a very good price. After a long wait at the register the attendant sees the stickers were ok the wrong cases. The sale price was for a different console. This made the price for the game on my console 3 times as much. Even though it was their mistake for posting the wrong price, they would not honor it.
Negative experience: Doesn't accommodate for people with physical disabilities and even makes fun of people who have them. The manager makes fun of you and treats customers like trash. Will never recommend this store to anyone.
Negative experience: DONT GO TO GAMESTOP IN VALLEY RIVER I had a really upsetting experience at the valley river GameStop location. I bought a sealed Pokémon binder from another GameStop (Clackamas Promenade) and went to Valley River to return it — unopened, with the receipt, and well within the 15-day return window. The store manager, John, immediately said it was “non-refundable” because it’s a “TCG product,” even though the binder is just a card storage accessory, not a pack of cards or anything mystery-based. I had already spoken to GameStop corporate, and they confirmed that a sealed binder is returnable under company policy. When I explained this calmly, the manager became aggressive, started “reading the policy to me” in a very condescending tone, and made it clear he wasn’t going to help. I felt dismissed and talked down to, it was genuinely uncomfortable and unprofessional. If GameStop’s own corporate support says the item is returnable, it’s not okay for a local manager to just override that and treat customers like they’re being difficult. I wasn’t even upset at first, I just wanted a fair return — but the way I was handled felt disrespectful. I’m sharing this so others are aware, and so corporate knows this location needs serious improvement in customer service and policy consistency. I’ve been a GameStop customer for years, but this experience left a bad impression.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to sell games and potentially make in store credit or cash. Keep this place in mind for browsing and buying new products found here.
Negative experience: Walked in and saw a PS5 game for 44.99 (Black Ops 6). Asked to purchase it and was told price is actually 69.99 and that it must be mis-labled (lable was correct name and console). Employee then prints a new tag for 69.99, sticks it over the old one and says: "sorry, this is now the price" and proceeds to stick it back on the shelf. No regard for the fact that this was their mistake or the fact that they just lost a sale and a customer. I understand the concept of being an hourly employee or not caring about the bottom dollar, but is this where customer service has gone now? Very disappointed. This is not the GameStop of the good ol' days.
Positive experience: looked but didn't buy
Positive experience: It's a GameStop. They're dying out.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff. Nick is so knowledgeable and kind! Great store. You can find almost anything there for any special interest around video games and anime. They have tons of different Pokemon items too.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and cool employee first time being in gamestop in forever
Fantastic experience: Love brick and mortar shops
Fantastic experience: I got Indiana jones on ps5 and hope to preorder switch 2 .I did got one today and the manager and employee was great .
Fantastic experience: Taylor was super helpful and knowledgeable. One of the nicest GameStops I’ve visited. Well stocked and even had a game I’ve been trying to find for a while. I’ll be back for sure.
Fantastic experience: Very Helpful
Negative experience: Absolute garbage customer service and the manager john is a flat out joke and needs to be fired. Funny they have a at lunch since since 830 and close at 9pm
Fantastic experience: John was so helpful today! He is a man of the people. Very clear and concise as to why the Pro membership was the way to go and helped so many Pokemon fans get the cards we all are struggling so hard to find with the 151 booster bundles. Thank you VRC GameStop.
Fantastic experience: Shoutout to Nick the employee. I came in close to closing to make a last minute purchase and he was super chill and made my shopping experience great !! I felt bad I was there until past closing but he was a great sport about it , give this guy a RAISE
Fantastic experience: Kids love the mystery toys grab one every time we drop in. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Clothes, Hats and Socks for Back to school sale
Negative experience: I went to exchange a shirt that I bought two days prior for a smaller size. I had the receipt and the tag still on the shirt. The employees would not let me exchange it stating company policy so I had to purchase the other shirt and keep the original. No where on the receipt does it say “all apparel sales are final.” Shop at your own risk.
Fantastic experience: Codi was extremely helpful and knowledgeable! We were in and out within 10 minutes with trading in AND preordering a game. If you’re looking for a good game stop to go to, this is the one!
Fantastic experience: It's GameStop. They're trying.
Fantastic experience: This is a five star review because of all the kind helping people and the good prices
Positive experience: Staff rocks, company sucks. Welcome to America.
Fantastic experience: Great service here
Fantastic experience: Picking up an online order. The employees were very friendly and will order it again in the future like always.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service and vibe. Great place to find used games
Fantastic experience: Friendly, helpful staff. Decent prices. Moderate selection. Clearance sale currently going on. 9/25/23
Positive experience: I would give it a 5 nut everything is a little over priced
Positive experience: Fun store. High prices. Staff was not interested we were there.
Negative experience: Over priced and rude employees
Positive experience: This is the GameStop in Valley River Center. I've never really had an issue in here. Most recently, I got a pretty sweet deal on a Star Wars Retro figure. No complaints. It just seems that GameStop is overpriced on some items and continues to carry Clearance junk that nobody wants.
Positive experience: Had the game I wanted at a great price.
Fantastic experience: I adore game stop like nobody's business. Always have.
Fantastic experience: Management is amazing. The place is so clean and orderly. Everyone I have spoken to is knowledgeable and friendly. Anthony even has a sense of humor.
Negative experience: Not helpful. I did an order pick up and they didn't bother to hold my item, ended up handing me another item and sold all of the available stock. Didn't offer any solutions or bother helping, basically just said, "Oh well". They don't care when they make mistakes.
Positive experience: I'm not a gamer went to buy my grandson a video game What's overcharged original prices under sticker hope that was overlooked it was simple mistake
Fantastic experience: The employees behind the counter are, more often than not, fully knowledgeable on whatever questions I happen to have concerning both games and other products. I really like how when a new game releases, they plentifully overstock in order to make sure that those wanting to buy are able to get what they are after and won't have to wait. A one-stop GameStop, as it were.
Negative experience: Poor salesmanship and poor explanation of purchase. We recently attempted, and attempted is the key word here, to purchase a collectors edition of the new Zelda TOTK. Upon arrival we were given a coupon for the collectors edition and were told that with that coupon we were Guaranteed a collectors edition with pens, steel case, artwork and all. I specifically asked if we were to arrive the following day that the edition was guaranteed. Upon arrival the following day I was told that they were out. I was also rudely told that if I wanted it that I should've shown up same day/evening at 9 and that it was first come first serve. Thank you Anthony ( store manager) for explaining this so poorly and really appreciate the rude young woman that also was present the day prior who heard everything and still basically told me I was "out of luck..." Smh. Thank you for not honoring your words and representing small minded millennials like poster children for the "blind leading the blind"....We will be taking out business elsewhere 100 percent. You guys are a poor representation for all GameStop stores... You should be ashamed...
Fantastic experience: If you want games then come to this place before you go anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: Really nice employee's, and also very helpful.
Negative experience: Paid 55 for a game and was told only 12 dollars would be given back, regardless of the game being in pristine condition.
Positive experience: Brought my grandkids in to play video games & airhockey . There's 2 pool tables too . More pinball then retro games but fun
Positive experience: Good games and have attachments to game consoles but don't really have amibos or anything sadly. Small store tho
Fantastic experience: Excellent store helpful staff. The cashier walked my boy through his first debit transaction. To the moon apes
Fantastic experience: Knowledgeable helpful staff. Great prices
Fantastic experience: Always great deals and excellent customer service, above and beyond.
Fantastic experience: eden was so kind when he helped me out! jackie is always a delight as well. my favorite gamestop <3
Fantastic experience: Great service from the guy with the long dark brown hair and beard, wish I remembered his name but ty!
Fantastic experience: Great selection of new and pre-owned games. Prices are a little high... But if you're looking for a game it's very likely to be there!
Fantastic experience: Great store! Knowledgeable and nice employees! Go here for your gaming needs!
Negative experience: They might have decent games, however the employees are very..... Uneducated at membership details and unwilling to help ie. look any info up cause they say it don't exist to begin with anyway I hear it's busy but I'm a customer too...WAS. Talked to two or three people the second time I called, she couldn't remember if she talked to me but...SO PLEASE READ FINE PRINT I GUESS BUT.... it advertised like that too but don't say it, the SALES GUY that pushed me to buy the membership said in a year I could get a game for free with the 5 dollar monthly accumulation. HAHA. it's $5 a month and if you don't use it it's gone. Cost me 20 just to get there in gas. Anyway big BUMMER SCAMMERS.
Negative experience: Rude people with bad adutude
Positive experience: Most of the time, they have what your looking for..
Positive experience: Cashier was very fast and efficient knowledgeable of products and product information overall good experience
Positive experience: Cool stuff, but game stop has definitely downgraded. Some items are a bit overpriced and you can't try out games like you used to.
Positive experience: Always have great prices for games
Negative experience: Was just in there and was met by a rude employee when I was asking if they had something. I didn't ask for a side of attitude. Employee had long black hair with a ponytail on 7/25/22 around 1230pm. Hope someone can tell him how customer service works or how to talk to ladies.
Positive experience: Nice staff
Negative experience: I called about a brand new ps4 controller I bought that didn’t work and the guy who answered proceeded to argue with me over my problems and tell me I had no clue what I’m talking about. The guy was extreamly rude to me and did not help my situation. Not to mention it took me calling 12 times in a row to get them to answer my calls. I’m from out of state and this was extreamly terrible service to be getting as one visiting the state. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere this place does not deserve to have any business given to them.
Positive experience: I had to wait awhile to ask a question cause the associate was in the back. They don't carry much accessories on-site & very limited on their selections they do have. I tried to get a new Xbox headset but they were all out & had to order them. I chose to order one myself online.
Negative experience: I ordered a pre-used Xbox One from GameStop 5 days before my son's birthday. We did get it on his birthday but it was broke and he can't use it. I called up GameStop and they sent me a return slip to send it back and they will send me a different one TWO DAY SHIPPING as soon as they get it. They Received it 5 days ago. Today 14 days later, I call them like a 5 time now and they tell me it will be another 5 to 7 days before they will ship it. So I canceled my order. I would have to wait 21 day into it would be shipped, what Happened to 2 DAY SHIPPING? I canceled my order 30 minutes ago. I could have done this in two days at Wal-Mart or Best Buy. If you don't want what you paid for and like lots of Headaches then GameStop is the place for you.
Fantastic experience: Never fail to find a good deal on something
Negative experience: It's way over priced. They sell ps4 controllers for almost 20$ more then Walmart sells them for. No reason to shop at gamestop any longer as they aren't even trying to compete with prices and only want to make a buck
Negative experience: I purchased a copy of Shin Megami Tensei V in November. They didn't have it in stock so I agreed to an online purchase and they would ship to my house. I forgot to include my apartment number which I called the following day and they said it was taken care of. The order was cancelled which they at first ship a gift card to me to reimburse me which never arrived presumably because my apartment number wasn't attached to it. They agreed to submit a virtual gift card to me which will be processed within 2 to 3 business days. I received that email on January 26th. It is February 3rd. Not sure how 2 to 3 business days translate to over a week but this whole thing is BS. Needless to say, I won't be back regardless if I ever get the money. I will begrudgingly spend the gift card. I.have been more than patient with them and I typically am an understanding customer.
Positive experience: It's ok, they give like 10% of your money back even if you didn't open the game, their customer service is kinda bad and they have outrageous prices
Fantastic experience: Staff are helpful and polite
Fantastic experience: I like that employees are actual gamers and give you honest reviews. GME to the Moon
Positive experience: Doesn't have a whole lot but definitely a better experience than online
Fantastic experience: Pretty average store, easy to access. They normally have a decent stock and the staff has been kind and helpful.
Positive experience: Good selection of games. Nintendo, x-box, et.al.
Negative experience: Overpriced and a hassle why you would go here to get ripped off I have no idea?
Positive experience: Good selection, especially considering the small size of the store. The employee we worked with was very nice and helpful.
Positive experience: Decent stock. Good prices.
Positive experience: It was pleasant although they didn't buy but two of my games
Positive experience: I like GameStop I buy games and figurines
Fantastic experience: Greatest game store, got some new headphones there. Great service
Fantastic experience: The workers are always friendly and I even talked to one about an adult swim show I love and they always have the best games
Positive experience: Had a lot of games for the young kids but when you get older like us it's too noisy
Positive experience: They didn't have any Minecraft figures or accessories, and I'm still disappointed that their website sent me the wrong game at Christmas time. It doesn't fill me with confidence for making an online order.
Fantastic experience: Friendly knowledgable and helpful staff, clean bright and organized store!
Fantastic experience: Very nice store and helpful employee
Positive experience: Like the selection. Prices on the high side.
Positive experience: Over priced but when you need/want something gaming related now not very many choices out there
Negative experience: Kodie answered the phone, asked me to hold and left me there for 13 min. I hung up called back and she was very rude to me when I let her know she forgot about me. I will never set foot in this store again. Doesn't cost anything to be nice.
Positive experience: Good prices. Would like to see a bigger selection
Positive experience: The kids always love Gamestop but dang they are pricey.
Negative experience: Don't want to give them any stars but had to to write a review Don't spend your stimulus cards at game stop and try to return something because they will just try to put it on the card and you are out that money and they will not give it to you in cash
Positive experience: Associate was knowledgeable but they're stock was poor. I had better luck at Fred Myers.
Fantastic experience: Great didn't have what I needed though
Fantastic experience: They had the game I had been looking for and the guy who helped me was super nice. There were a lot of games and cool things in the store as well.
