Experiencia fantástica: This place is nostalgic and such a great environment! The store offers a 7 day warranty which is really reassuring! Everything was priced reasonably. I appreciate all the knowledge the owner has with everything that is in the store. You can tell this isn’t business, but a passion someone has.
Experiencia negativa: Bought some games from them today, didn't work brought them in to get a refund. Got told they do no cash refunds (even though I bought with a card), got insulted at by the cashier who dug out a Xbox 360 to try and refuse me a refund, and then said that I should bring my system to them. Their "warranty return" is only for replacing the disc or fixing it, which wasn't explained to me that way. Guy gave me an attitude the whole time and even swore at me on my way out, which I had to circle back into the store to ask if I heard him right and then he said "have a nice day" Having to file a fraud dispute with my bank and file a complaint with the state. Do not shop here.

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely LOVE this place! I can almost always find exactly what I’m looking for—whether it’s PlayStation or Nintendo games, movies, consoles, controllers, or accessories. The selection is great, but what really sets this place apart is the staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and Clay, in particular, is a big reason I keep coming back. I’ve brought in several consoles to be checked out, and Clay is always honest and straightforward. He never tries to upsell or push things you don’t need—just genuine help from someone who clearly knows and loves this stuff. I’ve also had discs resurfaced here and brought in games that weren’t working right, and every time, he’s been able to help me out. This is hands down my go-to spot for anything gaming-related. I’ll definitely be back—and if you haven’t checked this place out yet, you should!

Experiencia negativa: Sold me a 60$ Wii with one off-brand controller and no other parts for $120. Nice people who work there sure but it's obvious with the new owners, the main practice of fleecing the 'unaware' in the gaming community is still there. Also they hide stock in the back including more popular and sought after games. Shady, shady, shady.

Experiencia fantástica: I never leave reviews, but I felt I needed to this time. I haven’t been to The Gameroom in years on account of the incredibly rude staff and how gross and disorganized the place was. But was told it’s now under new ownership and way better. So I checked it out. The difference is like night and day! It no longer looks like a dirty pawn shop run by rude creeps. Now the place is clean, organized, and the staff are kind, polite, and very helpful. They didn’t talk down to me and treat me like I’m not a “real” gamer because I’m a woman (old staff did this). Prices were great and I was able to find last minute gifts for some of my gaming friends and a beautiful, black-label Metal Gear Solid on PS1 for me. Thank you Dial Up Games, you’ve made a very happy customer that will be returning!

Experiencia negativa: Super nice people at the counter but horrible service as far as what they did! My son’s PS5 worked but he was afraid of smoke damage due to a fire. They cleaned it and charged a small amount, brought it home and it didn’t work! Brought it back in, found some inside power issue; said they’d call him and never did; claimed the part was coming from China and they’d call when in but didn’t. A month later I go to get it and lo and behold it’s fixed ( no call placed to my son) paid $170 and he tried it and it’s still not fixed! Brought it back in; said they’d call us both if it got fixed; no call!! Son went to go pick it up since he was in town and by golly, it’s not fixable! The mother board was blown! Hmmm. I’m having to dispute my $170 I put on my card. Small businesses like this we like to patronize. Not this one. Don’t bring a machine to get repaired there. It’ll get ruined and you’ll get the runaround

Experiencia negativa: Spent 50 bucks for an old game. There was a scratch and was told I had 7 days to return if it didn't work. Came in because it didn't work and get told they would switch it out. He clearly just returned the original disk after buffing it. No idea why I said id take in-store credit. You guys tried buffing it 3 times when I bought it. Congrats that's the last money you'll get from me. I go out of my way to fund places like this but not anymore.
Experiencia fantástica: Dial Up Gaming is flipping amazing. There was a mistake on my order and they wouldn't be able to fulfill it for a couple days. The OWNER offered to drive to Omaha the next morning to make it right. Long story short, between the owner and the employee working they went absolutely above and beyond what they needed to do in the next 40 mins to make things right today. Not two days from now, not 14 hours from now, 40 mins. Just outstanding commitment to making sure I got what I payed for.

Experiencia negativa: Just tried to sell some DVDs like normal to build some credit up and they just said no we don't want them, then when I wanted to return the game I just bought I was informed they only do credit back if it's defective, so no way to get my money back and I can't trade for new games either even for a dollar. Also they undercut the number of DVDs I traded in by 3. Then when I called to ask about it they hung up on me. I called back again just and they said we can say no and have no obligation to help you. They sell hardware too so if you want to play guitar hero, stop by and grab a guitar controller. They also buy if you are looking to sell some older games so that someone else can enjoy them as well. He's always there ! this snot nose kid who has a spoon stuck in his mouth and can't finish a sentence with out spraying food out of his mouth, ps don't eat while talking to a customer, Duuu ??? this kid wants to short me on my trade ins which i do weekly for years , Finally after trying to negotiate a deal with the same game i bought there a week earlier , I BEING A OLDER GENTALMAN decided instead of paddle his but I would just leave and find another store to deal with! you lost a long time customer because of attitude n no respect for a weekly customer . my suggestion go some where else!

After the second visit, they got the issue fixed at no extra cost. Employees seem a little arrogant at times but retail ain’t fun so I get it. I was hopeful they'd step up to the plate after Gamers closed but the store is dirty, cluttered, unorganized, and usually not well stocked in high demand items like retro controllers, OEM or otherwise... You're better off at Entertainmart in the mall, or going down to Gamer's Oasis in Omaha if you get out that way. Really hope they can turn things around here, but I'm not holding my breath.
Well, we have a dedicated controller tech that rebuilds controllers full time. We have pretty much every platform in stock both official and refurbed and 3rd party working. We just took a restock break this week to revamp our media workflow because we turn over so much media. There are 2000 units sitting behing the counter that should hit the shelf Monday. Sorry to dissappoint, we do run a solid operation that is constantly being improved upon.

However, I have to say that the prices were a bit steep compared to other places I've been to. It's worth checking out if you're looking for hard-to-find items. Experiencia fantástica: Super fun place to browse and find hidden gems. Last time I went in I was looking for a specific AV wire for my Super Nintendo. I was able to find it right away, but then the sales associate let me know that a different connector would work better with that system and not have issues with wireless interference. I had no idea! I got the wire they recommended and new life has been breathed into my favorite 30-year old console. They also let me know that if the wire didn’t work I could swap it out for another one within 7 days. Very happy to have them in Lincoln.

They have an amazing selection, and the discs are in wonderful condition, almost like they were never used. THE place to go for hard to find games and personal grails. AAA++++++++++. Shipping costs are reasonable and the staff treat you like friends.

The employees are nice and fun to talk to at times. The two games I've gotten so far are authentic and very well kept and cleaned. The battery they put in works well and hasn't caused any issues. Peach. I am sorry to hear about the issue. I would highly recommend getting your system tested. Its not likely the games, as we use a professional disc repair machine on all of our discs to make sure they work. If it is the discs, we are happy to replace or refund them, but generally, the systems are a much more likely culprit for disc read errors. Keep in mind this can happen even if the system work for some discs. Either way, if you bring the games you purchased and your system back to our store, we can troubleshoot for free.
Experiencia positiva: I'm gonna start by saying that I know inflation is out of control at the moment and that the price of retro games is on the rise so small business have to do what they can but the disparity in prices here is a bit much. Anywhere from a few dollars to near double the price online. Sure they have a good selection but you would too if you were overpriced. The cleanliness of the store was fine, it wasn't hard to navigate or anything but one annoyance was everything from NES to ps1 was behind the counter or in glass. Also would it kill you to greet someone when they walk in? At least the female employee with glasses complimented me when I neared the counter

Also in regards to greeting customers, we do actively try. There is alot going on behind the counter and if we miss you coming in, we are sorry. It does happen, but most get a greet coming in.

Experiencia negativa: Had a lot of hope but was a little disappointed with the repair side. I asked them to look at my PS2 and potentially fix it if they could. Within a day they called to report that it was fixed and my power cable was the issue. I went in that day and asked them to show that it worked. It did not and they apologized. The manager said they would take a look at it after that. After waiting a week, they determined it was the motherboard and said “free of charge for sure”. It was free of charge because nothing was fixed. I wasn’t given options or a reason to why it could or could not be fixed. When I picked up the console, they asked for my name. I got a reply of, “oh you had the PS4?” So I said no, it was a PS2. Without checking my ID or anything, they handed me the console and let me leave. Anyone could have taken it, and I believe if I would have said “yes, that’s my PS4”, I would have gotten it for free. I hope this gets better as the game selection they have it awesome, and the prices are great.
Sorry about your repair experience. Its usually pretty thorough, but your order definitely had a few hiccups. It does happen occasionally. We will have to work on it.

After plugging a meter and dealing with the inconvenience of having to go downtown Lincoln I was told that they didn't have an item that it showed they did on the website. And the worker checked their stock- yep, had it in stock. But the worker told me "it would be hard to find since we have stuff moving around all the time." Okay, cool. No sale, and I won't be back. What a joke.

Experiencia negativa: The store itself had alot of products but the way its organized looks like they just throw it on a shelf and call it a day. The staff is awful the dude with the long red beard needs customer service training and then some common decency. We overheard a conversation between him and another customer who had some sort of disability which impacted their speech and behavior The worker proceeded to be extremely rude and impatient with this customer and not to mention he didnt even acknowledge me when i was in the store and didnt ask if we needed help finding anything.
Dustin. Thanks for the feedback. This is critically important to me. The Gameroom is a learning environment and a lot of time and effort is spent to help employees develop skills that benefit the business, the customers, and their own abilities. Some unacceptable behaviors arise and are handled with a high level of urgency. What you described does fall into that category. With that said, I still believe this can be used as a learning situation that can be very helpful in shaping some of those behaviors on the long term.
I very much appreciate the direct feedback because sometimes these things are hard for me to directly observe. It will be taken into account and used to make improvements.

Experiencia positiva: I'd call myself a fairly regular customer at the Gameroom over the last 7 or so years, stopping in usually once a week, as nowadays I refuse to shop at a certain other local game store here in town, and I'd just like to leave some feedback I think should be addressed. The staff and selection for the most part are not the issue, but ever since about 2020 onward, the prices of most games have become a bit unreasonable. Most games you'll find tend to sell for as low as 40-50% less than what's being asked in store. I'd love to continue supporting this local business and help see it thrive for years to come, but if prices keep rising I and many others will unfortunately have to move exclusively to online shopping. Hopefully this feedback is taken seriously and we can see a positive change at the Gameroom in the near future. I want this to be a 5 star review, I really do!
Nick. Thanks for the input. I have a lot to say on this issue, its complicated, but I do fully understand your concern and it is one that we are ACTIVELY working on solutions for. Let me use your review to present some insight into pricing and the complication we experience and what we are doing to come to the best fit. Anyone reading this, thanks for your patience.
Pricing has evolved since I opened the Gameroom. VGPC and Ebay have allowed widespread price research that gives a fairly accurate relative value to video games and accessories. There are some red herrings mixed into this data. Some can easily be accounted for, others require experience and discretion. Basically I can get straight values from VGPC, but only a small percentage of them hold water.
Shipping costs (low dollar titles), Condition, Availability and Sell-ability and complication all have to get factored in.
Shipping costs don't get factored into VGPC average prices. Well, when you buy local, you aren't shipping, but you are paying for storefront overhead instead, so for low end games, there will be a few $ difference between online and local, but in reality it means online sales are hiding that cost. Shipping becomes far less important when you get to high end games. With those we see 2 types. Everyday big name titles, which are heavily requested and sell consistently and usually instantaneously at a higher value than VGPC posts. The rare stuff tends to be much more in line with VGPC, as there are few transactions and the most recent weight heavily. Bottom line, there is no one size fits all solution. There are 27000 games in the catalog or so, probably 10000 titles in circulation at a store at any given moment. This brings us to a solution. Gameroom have been doing it manually for a long time. Our new software has helped this process in many ways, but with the volatility that COVID created, we held out moving prices in the upward direction, got cleaned out of just about everything, and then had to adapt just to maintain basic stock balances. Now things are dropping, but not uniformly, so we are whittling away at the problem, but I suspect the market is going to continue to react before we hit a new normal.
What is an ideal method for pricing? Well, basically we are working on a semi-automated price updater that will factor in availability and the speed at which items sell for when available, market price, popularity. What we want is an equilibrium between what comes in and what goes out. That may not be practicably possible for used stuff, but as a whole we can use it to guide prices in a more intuitive manner.
In the meantime, we are still pecking away at prices manually, but there is much more work to be done. Its like a game of whack-a-mole.
Ultimately, Nick, I appreciate the input. We are hustling to keep on top of the issues, but we can always do better. I hope this has been helpful into what happens behind the scenes. If you have any other input, I am all ears. Hit me up

Experiencia negativa: Took my ps4 and controller to get fixed they said they would give us a replacement controller after we pick up the ps4 when it’s fixed. Waited forever just for them to say they couldn’t fix the ps4. Even better they actually messed it up even more. They then said that we never gave them a controller. We got replacements for the controller and another one I brought and they don’t work. Never I mean never go here to get something fixed.
Gameroom does a high volume of repairs. We track every repair item from the moment it hits our counter to the time it leaves. Our process is systematic and accurate. With that said, we still give customers the benefit of the doubt and will replace items on a trust basis.
Our repairs are effective. We don't charge bench fees when we cannot resolve issues and we certainly don't make matters worse.
Its disappointing when our service leaves a customer dissatisfied, but I assure you, some things are out of our control.

Experiencia fantástica: Employees were nice and they have a nice selection of games from a wide variety of systems; such as games from the Wii, GameCube and N64 games, or even some NES/SNES games. Sure, a good majority is just third party stuff that not a lot of people care about, but it's always fun to look around and find one of the good third party games at a reasonable price, or strike gold with a nice first party or high budget third party game (though those are typically in few quantities with a higher price, but I have no issue with that). They even have some systems and accessories for sale if you feel like giving a certain gaming generation a try.
Experiencia negativa: I'm from out of town. Decent selection but prices seemed higher than price charting and higher than eBay and Mercari. Owner tried to defend higher prices with shipping rates. I've seen other reviews where NES games are higher. I'm from one of the top 15 most populated city in the USA. Almost all for our stores use price charting or eBay for current market value. I also attend multiple retro video game trade shows and again prices are in line with eBay and Price charting and you may find someone will to make a deal but I would not consider eBay or price charting low ball sites. One example I saw was King Neptune Adventure. Your price was $329. Price charting and the app I use show this game at $179-$180 as of time of this review. Mercari has it for $200 and eBay has it for $159 plus free shipping or $175 plus shipping or best offer. I would not consider an extra $129 plus the cost of buying from a local retailer. I also saw other Wii games that are valued at $5 CIB and store was asking $9.80. Other NES games in display case were turned on side where you can not see titles and a lot of the games you could not see the prices. Annoying having to ask what are the prices. Again these are just my options based on previous previous trade shows and local game shops in my city and other cities around the country and pricing sites and eBay and other selling apps.

Experiencia negativa: Went in to go repair a xbox one, when I got it back it worked perfectly for a week then the same problem persisted. Couldn’t get a refund for the repair nor can a afford another xbox or repair.

Experiencia positiva: Very crowded, but definitely large store. It might look like small to you outside, but be prepared to spend a couple hours in there just to be aware, there is a parking street meter fee. It does need coins or you can download the app to pay for the meter.
Experiencia negativa: You got any I got a game disc stuck in my PlayStation 4 they told me it was going to be a week week and a half and ended up being like a month and a half they said that they were going to give me a text message or call me when it was done and they never did that so I just kept randomly stopping in don't get me wrong I get it we're in the middle of a pandemic but when I kept calling in they couldn't give me a status on it that was just my experience

Experiencia positiva: Great to purchase DVD's or other things. However, avoid selling because you get little to nothing. They do offer more store credit then cash so that is nice. Employees are usually pretty sweet and helpful. They also have someone who does string art! Definitely check that out, it is awesome! Pricey but worth every dollar!
Experiencia negativa: Was in there recently to purchase an xbox 360 with the silver plating. Turns out it doesnt read discs and it will only read certain games, and even when it "reads" the game, it gives me unrecognized disc error once starting the game. Disc tray constantly gets stuck. Bought dragons age inquistion and that game ended up having a ring scratched on the bottom of the disc. I guess make sure to test the games and systems before selling them to make sure they actually work. Nobody wants to spend money on items that are botched. You just lost a customer.
Drake, sorry to hear about the issue. We do systematically test all hardware we sell. Occasionally, issues do slip by. If you bring it back, we can get the issues resolved asap. Bring the discs as well and we can resurface them.
