Experiencia fantástica: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Stars – 10/10 Experience I want to take a moment to recognize someone who truly represents what brick-and-mortar retail is supposed to be about. Back in January 2026, I walked into the GameStop in Escondido with a broken Xbox One. I had already visited local repair shops and was quoted a few hundred dollars to fix it. At that point, I started thinking it might make more sense to explore refurbished options instead of sinking that kind of money into an older console. That’s when I met Jeff. From the moment I walked in, Jeff was professional, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable. I had been out of the gaming world for about six years, so I wasn’t even sure what questions I should be asking. Jeff walked me through everything. He explained the differences between my standard Xbox One and the Xbox One X Scorpio Edition in a way that was clear, detailed, and easy to understand. Because of his guidance, I confidently chose the Scorpio Edition—and after playing it, the performance difference was night and day. Right before we finalized the purchase, I asked him one more question: “Will Grand Theft Auto 6 work on this system?” He was honest. He said no—and explained I would need the newer Xbox Series X for that level of compatibility. He checked inventory and told me he had two in stock, including one brand new unit. For about $100 more, I could experience opening a brand-new, top-tier console. We completed the transaction, and we actually opened the sealed Xbox Series X together. That moment meant more than I expected. It was a genuine, memorable retail experience. Jeff didn’t just sell me a product—he made the experience special. We talked gaming, technology, and the direction of the industry. I walked out sharper and more informed than when I walked in. Shortly after, I learned the Escondido location was closing. I assumed I’d never see Jeff again. Fast forward one month—I walked into the Carmel Mountain GameStop to pick up some Nintendo Switch games and a classic Atari 300-game console. And there he was. Jeff. My face lit up immediately. Knowing that someone with that level of expertise and integrity was there made me feel confident about every purchase I was making. I’ve owned multiple businesses myself, and I can confidently say Jeff is the exact type of employee every company should fight to keep. He goes above and beyond. He’s bright, honest, passionate, and truly cares about helping customers make the right decisions—not just making a sale. Yes, technically you can research gaming information online. But Jeff saved me hours of digging through forums and conflicting opinions. More importantly, he helped me ask the right questions—something you can’t always get from Google. Over the last couple of months, I’ve spent a few thousand dollars in GameStop stores. The reason I continue to walk into physical locations instead of buying online is because of employees like Jeff. GameStop corporate leadership—if you’re reading this—you have something rare here. In a world that’s going increasingly digital, people like Jeff are what make physical stores valuable. Protect and retain talent like this. Jeff, thank you for the time, the knowledge, and the experience. Every time I visit the Carmel Mountain location, you’ll be the first person I look for. 10/10 experience. 5 out of 5 stars.

Experiencia negativa: Saturday, January 17th around 2:00 in the afternoon decided to trade in my original Xbox One model this new employee and I've never seen before this girl had blonde hair didn't catch the name though hooked it up and said I would only get $16 for it because my controller had drift which is crazy because I know those Xbox One models trade in for more than that so I don't know what was going on I almost think she was looking at the wrong listing for just the controller and not the console.wish I got the other employee he seemed like he knew more of what he was doing worst experience that I've had from this gamestop ever and I've been going there for over 10 years now.

Experiencia negativa: Weird ah customer service. We came by to pickup an online order (had been pass an hour and a half already), for ONE ITEM! Yes we are aware we would get an email but we happened to be in the area and it was like 7pm by this point lmfao. The worker chewed out my boyfriend for coming early and then proceeded to say “I’ll guess I will do that right now” as he took less than a minute grabbing the item lmfao bro I could have done that for you and the store was empty. What did you gain by making my boyfriend feel bad for picking up an item he bought? So unprofessional and rude.

Experiencia negativa: Drove 40 minutes all the way from Ramona after calling to confirm that they buy Nintendo switches. I came in and they tested my switch for 30 minutes just to tell me their system couldn’t process the transaction and I should try another GameStop 20 minutes away. Employees will beat around the bush pretending they’re not wasting your time just to give you half ssa apology and send you to another GameStop. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION TO ANY GAMERS OR TRADERS!!!

Experiencia negativa: many bad experiences over the past few years. came in years ago and always had luck talking to the tall heavy set guy with the curly hair. he was super friendly, he had been there for a few years at that point and after that I was told management and workers had changed for this location. for a few months I started to see the same faces in and they were usually super helpful, that manager was in sometimes and he always made me feel like he wanted to help (he was around 5 foot 10, bald and super helpful to the customers and myself) and then low and behold I was told "management changed again". after that going to this location became a nightmare, every time I went in a tall young man or a short girl with short wavy hair was usually the ones there almost every night and they always helped me out with everything I needed but when the tallish hispanic guy was there I noticed he never cared about the customers, he was always standoffish and never actually felt the need to help when I asked him questions. I kinda stopped going after that up until about a year and a half ago, saw the same workers with a few new faces and witnessed a weird situation where the tall gentleman was on the phone with what sounded like his boss and when he put the phone on speaker for his other employees to hear the manager started screaming at the at the tall gentleman with glasses INFRONT of the other employees like he was publicly humiliating him. after that the tall guy went in the back. when he came back out I asked if he was okay and he didn't really respond to that question and asked "is there anything I can help you find today". i've been into the store a few times since then and the same tallish hispanic guy who I assume is the boss has been either on his phone ignoring customers, eating food up at the front WHERE HE HANDLES MY GAMES AND PURCHASES or he has just strait up not cared about helping at all. I have not been in the store in around 4-5 months since then but it its very clear that there is a management issue. its also worth noting that since the incident I mentioned where the hispanic guy screamed at the other manager happened, I have not seen any of those employees there anymore before I stopped going. my guess is that the employees were tired of his antics and left. I absolutely do not recommend going to this location if anyone doesn't like supporting spots where management doesn't care about is customer base or treats their employees well.

Experiencia fantástica: Welcoming and excellent customer service and I will definitely be returning. I tried to get a release console the 2nd day (it was a long shot, but worth a try.) They not only were sympathetic to being out of stock, but there was also none of the eye rolling or clipped responses when I asked. Instead, we had a great conversation about the console and strategies to find one. Just a kind, joyful experience with people who genuinely seem to love games.

Went to stand in line for a Switch II (graduation gift for my son) after calling to verify that they'd give out numbers for extra (non-preordered units). Got a number, was told confidently that I could cone back later to pay. After 3 trips there, standing in line while the barely competent staff chatted with their friends and customers, and despite *having asked and being told that there would be no problem when I returned*, when I finally got to up to the register pay, I was told there were no more units. No apology for my wasted time (about 2 hrs in total, not including gas for 2 extra trips there). No concession to put another unit aside when more came in the next day - even though i still had the number that they had given me. Do not give these indifferent clowns your business.

Experiencia negativa: Pre-ordered an accessory for a new console. Returned to this location, the day before the console release, to inquire about my preorder. They guaranteed that they'd set my items to the side for me. Arrived the evening of the console release (less than 24 hours) to purchase my items. Turns out they didn't set all of the items aside as they promised and sold one. Very disappointed, this is the first time a retailer hasn't honored a preorder of mine.

Experiencia negativa: Usually I have a great experience at this spot I have two jobs and this is my happy place after a long week but today may 7 2025 was not the best , customer service was really bad guy keep treating me like if I was not welcome just questioning me with nonsense , wanted to buy the game it split fiction and this person tells me “ you know you can’t play this game by yourself right?” I mean really same maker from it takes two I know what is coming , then Also pick a headset for my Xbox witch I tried to ask him I wanted a multi platform headset but he just walk away and ignored me , then when I proceed to pay he tells me again “ you know this is for Xbox only and not play station right?” Really!? It says it the box it works with all the consoles and I did some research at the moment. Proceed to pay and charge me wrong amount hat to tell him about my membership and the 250 and get 25 discount. Just left , in not the best mood.

Experiencia negativa: I preordered a MTG commander precon deck. A day or so before it released, I got a call asking me which one I wanted so that they could put a note on it and set it aside for me. Unfortunately, they only had 3 of the 5 (which was fine) so I requested one of the three. A minute or so later, I changed my mind and called right back to switch. The person I spoke with earlier said that was fine and I would still have mine saved. I asked about other MTG products, seeing if they would sell out and he said they'd have stock and not to worry. The day of release, I was unable to make it to the store when they opened but arrived a few hours after. When I got to the register, I was shocked to hear they not only DIDN'T have the one I wanted but they had SOLD it to someone else earlier! The person there said, "I told them not to sell it" and basically blamed another worker for selling it to someone else. I understand their policy of only holding things for 48 hours and after that, it was "first-come, first-serve" with preorder items, but come on! It's one thing to tell people "We can't set aside specific ones so come here early so you get the one you want", and another to call people asking them which one they want, getting their hopes up only to sell it off to someone who got there earlier. What's the point of preordering, promising a specific product to a customer only to just throw all that out of the window and basically say "Oops, we don't have it anymore... Sorry!"? As convenient as this store is for me for products (MTG, video games, etc.), I will NOT be preordering anything from here again and possibly even purchasing other off-the-shelf products. It's a shame too. Side Note: I ended up canceling the preorder of that item. As a consolation to myself, I bought a few other MTG products.

Experiencia negativa: I tried GameStop again I said I wasn't going to the first time I got a preowned PlayStation the controller didn't work had to go back second time got a Nintendo switch controllers couldn't hold charges had to go back third time got an Xbox one first controller didn't work next the game they sold me was pitted could not install had to go back Again the management does not care about customers they frankly do not nor are they checking their equipment properly at this location specifically never am I shopping at GameStop again.

Experiencia fantástica: I went in about 4 weeks ago and Kira helped me out! They were the most splendid person to speak with and updated me about so many cool things! I placed an order for the Resident Evil 4 collectors edition for the ps4 and they told me that there were also ps5's within the premise incase I wanted to get that too. Alas I was poor and could not but it was still great to know. ANYWAY Kira was awesome, the store was awesome, and I'm stoked to play this game in the future! :)

Experiencia negativa: Lately very very rude. After being on hold for a while finally someone answered. I asked one "yes" or "no" question then had a second question and he sounded annoyed and told me he had to put me on hold because the phone was ringing. Did not even let me finish talking and went ahead and put me on hold, again. So much for waiting for my turn to talk to someone. That is why i hate shopping here, overpriced and bad customer service. I guess nextntime i will ask for the big guy with the curly hair. One bad apple ruined the entire store.

Experiencia negativa: Went to buy the Halo Master chief collection. They sold me a used buggy copy that screwed up my Xbox one. They also told me that they didnt make it new anymore. I went to Wall-Mart the next day and found a brand new copy. I uninstalled the buggy one and installed the new one and the consol started working fine again. Granted people are nice and service is good but they are ripoffs. But this isnt the first time they have tried to pull something over on me. Recommended for the console add-ons and accesories for the consoles. Ie. Controllers, headphones,battery packs. But they arent good for games.

Experiencia fantástica: Despite times that I've been closer to other Gamestop stores, I always make an effort to make this one my go-to location. Selection wise, they have what you would expect from any other Gamestop, they do tend to have more available pre-orders however. The staff is what makes this my preferred store. I have been to a few other locations where employees were rude, obviously didn't want to be there, and lied to me regarding store policies. During a visit to a different location, my kids and I where browsing the already cramped store. My son bumped a mug sitting at the end of a display, which caused it to fall and break the handle. This is when the employee told me I was required to purchase the item. When telling this story to the Carmel Mountain employees, they informed me that should have never happened and apologized on the other store's behalf. That alone shows that they care more about the customers and take more pride in their integrity.

Experiencia positiva: Small busy messy location. Employees are often too busy to get help or have questions answered. Understaffed most of the time
