Experiencia negativa: This place is now permanently closed and I have to be honest to this place. Their prices were over priced like their prices were way higher than any other game stores. I don’t know why in the heck they were over priced I’m glad it closed down.

Experiencia negativa: The owner responded to my Facebook message accusing me of trying to return a different controller when it was, in fact, the exact same controller they'd sold us. We don’t even own an Xbox... we bought the controller to utilize the MFi feature for iOS games. After reading other negative reviews with similar experiences, this business is a scam. Don’t waste your money here. I’ve never experienced something like this.

Experiencia positiva: I like going to this store when I visit my friends in Grand Rapids because it has a wide variety of games that range to niche games that I enjoy. The last few times I’ve been there there is an African American employee that is rude every time. I asked if there was an alternate case I could get for one of the higher priced games I wanted to get since the case was dirt with residue and he walks up taking over from the other employee says no and doesn’t go to provide any solutions unlike the other employee who went above and beyond to clean the case and make it very clean looking. Today I went in with a friend who asked if his account expired and was told it couldn’t expire before being told that his account was expired. It’s been a few times where we’ve gone in and just felt like we’ve been unwelcome as collectors and nothing more than annoyances.

Experiencia negativa: You’re better off going to a thrift shop. Offered a good condition, fully working DS Lite for trade-in, and they tried buying it for seven bucks. SEVEN BUCKS! I looked at another DS Lite in their cabinet, and it was going for about $75. I bought a loose copy of Clubhouse Games for the DS, but it was selling for $12, when I saw CIB copies on eBay sell for ~$2. Will not be returning, which sucks because there aren’t many places to buy retro games in the area. At least the staff were nice.

Experiencia negativa: Not worth a penny and also is a scam I recently bought an Xbox one first GEN from there and had to take it back and took it and then I go get another one from them then I took the one back because it has a loose hdmi and was soft modded and had a coruption and they said we can’t help you with it and then blamed us when they clearly noticed was an issue and instead of help the issue they told us to buz off wow great service "no its a scam and is over priced"

Experiencia negativa: Bought a controller with a button that didn’t work. My partner travels a lot and wasn’t able to take it back for a couple of weeks (he was the one who purchased it). When he finally was able to go in they refused to acknowledge they sold broken product. No exchange was offered. Full disclosure - he did not have a receipt, but they were able to pull up his order anyway. The controller was also returned in the same packaging it was purchased in.

Experiencia positiva: I really liked it but it would be a 5 star but I thought we were scammed because it didn’t start at first luckily we had to just clean it so I wish you guy would say you may need to clean when we buy it but we contacted you guys and it was fixed but except from that I had a good time

Experiencia negativa: Worst gaming store I have ever gone to, the staff member that is male and obviously gay was very unhelpful to me, I simply wanted to check the discs before i was sold the game, they all looked very poorly cared for, he sold me a game that was incorrect, didn't even know the difference between them, army of two, but had 40th day in it but did not have the regular army of two, then proceeded to tell me that the person who sold it to them had the wrong game in there then, they should have checked before buying it. They didn't want to give me a refund only in store credit for a game that was bought within 5 minutes of figuring out that it wasn't the correct one, had to do an even trade. Everything is over priced, I will never return here and I certainly will not let my friends and family waste money here.

Experiencia positiva: Nicely organized with a a large number of games, I made a quick visit in to check it out since I had never been before. You will probably find something you are looking for, but maybe not. Plenty of room to explore with out feeling the cramp. The store looked like it was close when we visited from no car in parking lot and no open sign with the tinted window (good call on the tint you should do the other windows to protect the game from sun damage) but luckily the red car show up and it is clearly open. I did not talk to employee much but they were kind.

Experiencia negativa: Bought a brand new Xbox one controller. Get home and the left Joystick doesn't work correctly. Now I have to drive all the way back and see if they will even replace it... mind you I live almost 40 minutes away. Gas is not cheap! Why is my brand new product broken?

Experiencia fantástica: Play N Trade is my go to place to sell games because they give the best deals. Their perk system is great if you're a passionate about video games. It brings back memories and amazes me to see the games I played as a kid again. The staff is always friendly and helpful with and questions.

They took the stticker off and broke it. Now wont fix or try to help in any way. Craig is the WORST scamming a child Your employee is the ibe who told us you were lying because you cant fix it and tou dont want ti give a redund. Hes the one who gave is your info and told us to vall you this morning

Experiencia negativa: A buyers experience: A large wonderful selection of games but they’re all still there because of their absurd prices. They sell games as “new” for their original day one price but the games aren’t even new because all the seals are broken. For example they’re selling a “new” copy of sushi striker on switch for $50 even though the game isn’t new and it regularly goes for under $20. I didn’t bother asking if they’d cut me a few because at that point I’m just not supportive of their practices. Also many of their “new” games had sun damage or dirty/ beat up covers. Their retro games all are priced more fairly, but still higher than what you’d fine elsewhere. So I’d say that if you’re looking to be a money conscious buyer that you’re better off skipping play n trade and driving out to disc traders in kentwood. Selling? Idk you might be happy selling your game’s here maybe their prices are high because they buy your games for more but I can’t speak on that. I recommend to the company/owners/workers that they keep new games sealed (because that’s what new means). And that they have a system in place to either reprice these games. I want to love this place, their workers are fantastic and nice, the store has a great section of games. I just can’t see myself overpaying by such a large margin to support them.

Experiencia fantástica: Beltline Play N Trade has quickly become one of my favorite stores in the Grand Rapids area. It brings me right back to my childhood being able to browse through all of my old favorite games. They have a great selection and I’ve revived many good memories there. Great service. Highly recommend!

Experiencia negativa: RETURN POLICY IS 14 DAYS, On "Game Controllers". So If Your Controller Stops Correctly Operating On The 15th Day, You Cannot Get A Refund Or In-Store Credit. Just Treated Like You Were Aware That Your "Game Controller" Was Going To "STOP WORKING" In Under 1 Month. (Never Get Your Money's Worth)

Experiencia fantástica: Recently went here to get cash for three boxes of games and systems - all junk to me. They tasted the systems, the majority of them didn't work, however they still bought them from me for a cheap price. They took 90% of the stuff I brought in leaving me with almost $250. I was incredibly pleased with this. But most of all I wanted to shout out the young man that helped me. I didn't catch his name, but he was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and helpful during the whole process. I worked directly with him both times I came in with a deposit. Both times he was super cool and down to earth. I would come back here simply because of him and his customer service. Keep on keepin' on!

They left joystick is completely broken and when I called and talked to the guy who apparently owns the place he said they cannot return it even though they sold it to me broken. But instead they can give me store credit and I can purchase a new nintendo switch console for almost 100$ more. Seems like they're running some kinda scam

Experiencia negativa: 12-20-21 around 6p.m. I tried to sell some games. I had a sealed copy of Firewatch for PS4 sold directly from Campo Santo (the developer). Employees upfront were nice and told me they might have to break the seal in order for me to sell it. (This was fine with me if I got a good deal.) They wanted to verify if they had to break the seal per their store policy so an employee went to the back with my copy of Firewatch to ask this young man working there if they had to break the seal. The young man said that Firewatch was resealed within earshot of me. I interjected and politely told him that it was not resealed. The young man tried to argue with me and tell me it was a resealed game. I finished the argument by informing him that it was not a resealed game. The game is shrink wrapped because it is sold directly from the indie studio developer and does not have a traditional factory Y-fold plastic seal. You can find copies of this game sealed with the same shrink wrap that I had on my copy selling on Ebay for around $200. In the end, the other employee told me they would have to break the seal and open the game in order for me to sell it. I politely declined and took my copy of Firewatch and my other games back and left the store. My main complaint is with the young man working there. If you are going to act like a "know-it-all" and try to be rude to your customers without doing your research first (especially to someone like me who frequents the store), then I do not see myself coming back and giving the store more business. Train that young man to have better customer service and understand what he is talking about or at least teach him to give customers the benefit of the doubt before he judges them. I wonder if he thought my game was resealed because I'm a minority? I did not feel appreciated in the store and I was being POLITE!

Experiencia negativa: We bought a new game, Rust for the Xbox One for $50, but when we tried it out, it didn't work. Most likely due to the fact that our console has issues playing discs sometimes. But when we tried to return/get store credit, we only got $15 back. That's it.

Experiencia negativa: Do not test any of there stuff. if they do they hardly do it. 2nd time buying something broken after driving and hour there and back i had to go back there because the controller i bought was broken. all they could say that it slips through the cracks from management. I'm done buying that excuse. Over priced games/price gouging, mixed with staff that don't know anything about the stuff they sell or test it.

They have Nintendo,Super Nintendo,Sega Saturn,Sega Genesys Nintendo Gameboy Sega Game Gear and the list goes on. Very Very Satisfied and happy theres stores that sell physical games still, great place!!!

Seriously you might as well buy from ebay. The place is super dark so it's hard to see. The new and used games are mixed in with each other. The workers at the time were not friendly at all. Experiencia fantástica: So glad I went to play n trade for my Switch upgrade! I upgraded to a regular switch from my switch lite and the trade in value was great. Staff was very accommodating with helping me transfer my data and super patient with me as we figured out transferring my Animal Crossing Island! I was a bit freaked to leave my old switch behind without fully installing Animal Crossing on the new and seeing sweet Fuschia, Zelle, or Gayle on my Home Screen. They let me hang out while the digital copy downloaded of my game to be extra safe! Super happy I visited Play N Trade for this upgrade!

You can find almost anything you are looking for from the newest games to the oldest games. The staff is fantastic and helpful. Not many places can beat there selection which makes the prices a little higher but definitely fair!

Experiencia positiva: Play N Trade has a wide assortment of games, systems, and peripherals across multiple generations, and some harder-to-find peripherals for older systems. I once had an issue with a coupon as a part of the membership program, but Craig the Manager quickly worked with me to get it resolved, which was greatly appreciated. If you're a gamer and near Kentwood, you should definitely check it out!

They sold me unauthentic goods and will ONLY give you in-store credit if you try to return it and there's NO EXCEPTIONS. Go to disc traders their prices are WAY BETTER (and usually cheaper than VGPC) and their employees are actually nice and will work with and be fair with you. Play N' Trade sells games for above VGPC pricing unless you buy into their subscription program (yet another rip off) to get games for "meh" prices. If you want to save money, THIS IS NOT YOUR STORE, THEY WILL SCAM YOU.
